Charles Myers

Charles Edward Myers, 43, of Evansville, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002.

He was employed at Old 41 Auto & Detailing.

Surviving are two daughters, Crystal and Melisa Myers; one son, C.J. Myers; one sister, Sandra Rhoades; three brothers, Robert, Steve and Bill Myers; and one grandson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Miller and Miller Colonial Chapel, with burial in Locust Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

John Noel

John Wesley Noel, 40, of Evansville, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002.

He was a carpenter.

Surviving are a son, Michael Smith; his mother, Aline Noel; three sisters, Barbara Noel, Rose Hale and Vicky Lynn Noel; and a brother, Billy Noel.

Services will be private. The body will be cremated.

There will be no visitation at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel.

Dorothy Pierce

Dorothy S. Pierce, 94, of Evanston, IL, formerly of Evansville, IN, died Monday, February 11, 2002, at Swedish Retirement Home in Evanston, IL.

Mrs. Pierce was born in Hyattsville, Maryland, on April 7, 1907. Dorothy was a resident of Evansville from 1940 to 1990. Growing up in East Lancing, Michigan, she excelled in high school athletics. She played on a state championship basketball team, receiving the mental attitude award, and was awarded All-State Team honors in her junior and senior years. After graduating from Michigan State College, she taught school in Detroit for eight years, prior to moving to Evansville. Her memberships include First Presbyterian Church of Evansville, IN, Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae and American Association of University Women. Dot, as she was called by her close friends, was very active in these associations and volunteered her time for many charitable and social activities. She remained active physically all her life and continued to play golf well into her 80s.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Gillaspie of Yuma, AZ, and Marilyn Mart of Indianapolis, IN; one son, Alan Pierce of Deerfield, IL; two sisters, Margaret Hulett and Helen Kane; three grandchildren, Michael and Brad Mart and Krista Vanourny; and three great-grandchildren, Andrea, Allison and Jennifer Mart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Charles Pierce in December of 1976.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2002, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, the Reverend Wendy McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, February 18, 2002, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel in Evansville.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

JoRetta E. Rust

JoRetta E. Rust, 68, of Evansville, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2002, at her home. She was formerly em ployed with Krause Laundry and later retired from Pearl Laundry. She attended Good Shepherd Assembly of God and was a former member of Cornerstone Assembly of God.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ray Sr. and Trina Tooley of Evansville; sister Beverly Bufkin Goins of Evansville; grandson Ray Tooley Jr. and Jamie Tooley, granddaughter Staci and Dale Stanley, all of Evansville; three great-grandchildren, Abigail, Kelsi and Emili Stanley; two aunts, Norma Hackendahl and Murrie Hamlet, both of Illinois; and four nieces, Jeanie Clem, Maggie Hatfield, Jackie Pillow and Kimberly Bufkin.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 18, at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, the Revs. Glyn Pfohl and Thelma Pastore officiating.

Visitation will be on Sunday, February 17 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Assembly of God Missionary Fund, c/o Mistie Diefenbaugh.

O. Glenn Stahl

O. Glenn Stahl, 91, formerly of Evansville, died Tuesday, January 29, 2002, at Washington House in Alexandria, VA.

Glenn graduated from the University of Evansville in 1931, then known as Evansville College. He retired from a 34-year career with the federal government which included notoriety of his extensive work toward desegregation of the Virginia public school system, as well as a position with the United Nations. Prior to moving to Virginia, he resided in Tennessee, where he served on the Tennessee Valley Authority and later the Federal Security Agency, which later became known as the Department of Health and Human Services.

Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Jane (Rueter) Stahl, in June 27, 1999.

Surviving are a daughter, Dr. Elaine Stahl Leo of Vienna, VA; a son, Dr. Alan Stahl; a sister, Jane Stahl; and four grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, February 16, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel, Dr. John Brittain officiating, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

There will be no visitation at Alexander North Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Masters Degree Program in Public Service Administration Scholarship Award Fund.

"Joyce" Hazel Allen

PETERSBURG - "Joyce" Hazel V. Allen, 96, of Petersburg, formerly of Evansville, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at Petersburg Health Care.

Surviving are a daughter, Veeda "Jackie" Cates; and 12 grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville.

There will be no visitation at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg.

Robert Altman

FERDINAND - Robert "Bobby" Altman, 74, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.

He retired from the Indiana Chair Co. in Jasper.

Surviving are three sisters, Norine Hufnagel, Mary Ann "Mitzy" Sliwa and Aline Satkamp; and a brother, Dennis Altman.

Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Monday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, with burial in the church Cemetery, with military rites by the Ferdinand American Legion Post 124.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand, with a parish prayer service at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Ira Barrett Sr.

WINSLOW - Ira Harrell Barrett Sr., 77, of Mitchell, Ind., formerly of Winslow, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Indiana 37 between Mitchell and Bedford.

He was employed at Carquest Auto Parts.

Surviving are his wife, Lillian Louise; a son, Ira Harrell Barrett Jr.; three daughters, Rebecca Deen, Daisy Garrison and Linda Atkins; two stepdaughters, Connie Henderson and Theresa Pemberton; two stepsons, Billy and Jerry Yother; 10 grandchildren; and nine stepgrandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethel General Baptist Church near the Scottsburg community in Pike County, with burial in Barrett Cemetery in Pike County, with military graveside rites by the Oakland City American Legion.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, with a Winslow Masonic Lodge memorial service at 7 p.m., and from 1 p.m. to service time at the church.

Franklin Hale

PETERSBURG - Franklin N. Hale, 36, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Wirth Regional Hospital in Oakland City.

He worked for the North Patoka Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are his mother, Joana Willis Hale; and a sister, Francis Martinez.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Monday at Harris Funeral Home, with burial in Atkinson Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home, with an Indiana Volunteer Firemen's Association memorial service at 7 p.m. Sunday.
