Rosalyn Weaver Brooke

June 2, 1921 to Dec. 26, 1989
Rosalyn Weaver Brooke, 68, formerly of Rt.2, Lafayette, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, at 8:30 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. She had been living in Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette, since 1978.

She was born June 2, 1921, to Harvey and Florence Anson Weaver, in Valparaiso. She was married July 15, 1943, to Glen L. Brooke in Lafayette He died Jan. 17, 1954. She graduated from Battle Ground High School and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at Ross Annex in Lafayette. She was a member of Cairo Home Demonstrators Club and of Badger Grove Community Baptist Church.

Surviving are five sons, Lynn A. and Jerry, West Lafayette; Steven 0. and Mark A., Brookston and David W., Fort Wayne; one daughter, Mrs. Larry Joy North, Romney; and 16 grandchildren.

The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Badger Grove Community Baptist Church with the Rev Bill Radcliffe officiating. Friends may call Thursday, 5-8 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, or one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be at Grand View Cemetery in West Lafayette.

Memorials can be made to Badger Grove Community Baptist Church or to charity.

Louise A. Schmierer Brown

November 5, 1891 to June 12, 1993
Louise A. Schmierer Brown, 101, formerly of West Lafayette, died Saturday, June 12, at Home Hospital, Lafayette. She had been a patient in the hospital's extended-care unit since April 1987.

She was born November 5, 1891, to Carl and Lydia Deitsel Schmierer in West Lafayette. She married Andrew P. Brown on March 1, 1916, in Lafayette, and he died September 25, 1974. She was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Lafayette, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in West Lafayette and Pleasant Grove Grange.

Survivors include a son, Donald C. of West Lafayette; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Betty Rowland, a son Richard A., a sister and three brothers are deceased.

The funeral was held Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with the Rev. Kenneth Scherrey officiating. Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.

Memorial contributions can be made to charity.

Carl E. Hagerty

March 1, 1912 - May 26, 1988
Carl E. Hagerty, 76, R.6, Frankfort, died early Thursday, May 26, at his home.

He was born March 1, 1912, to Elmer C. and Cora Carrie Johnson Hagerty in White County.

He married Bessie Jewett, Feb. 14, 1935, in Brookston. She survives.

He was a farmer and worked in the physical plant at Purdue before retiring in 1977. He was a 1931 Brookston High School graduate and moved to Clinton County from White County, 26 years ago. He was a member of the Federated Church of Brookston, where he served as an elder and was a member of the International Flying Farmers.

Also surviving are a daughter, Helen Widmer, New Richmond; a brother, Elmer J., Twin Falls, Idaho; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, a brother, a daughter and a grandson are deceased.

The funeral was conducted on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev Maurice Davis officiating.

Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston. During interment there was a flyover by the Flying Farmers.

Isaac E. Hartman

October 21, 1895 - March 23, 1987
Isaac E. "Dick" Hartman, 91, died at 6 a.m. Monday, March 23, in Home Hospital, Lafayette. He had been in the hospital since March 18. He lived at R.2, Brookston.

Born Oct. 21, 1895, near Lafayette in Tippecanoe County, he was a life resident of the area except from 1940 to 1960, when he worked for Allison Engines and lived in Indianapolis. During World War I, he served in the Army.

Mr. Hartman was married to Gladys A Watkins, Oct. 5, 1917, in Lafayette. She died April 16, 1982.

He was a former member of Liberty Chapel Church and Eagles Lodge in Lafayette. He was a member of American Legion Post 75 of Delphi and World War I Veterans Association.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Gilbert (Mary) Shaw, Brookston; Mrs. Charles (June) Rosier of San Diego, California and Mrs. William (Wanda) Beile of Valparaiso; and a sister, Mrs. Viola Stanfield of Lafayette.

Services were in the Hippensteel Chapel, Wednesday at 1 p.m., with Pastor David Boehning officiating. Interment was in Liberty Chapel Cemetery with graveside rites by Delphi American Legion Post 75.

Surviving are 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Haas.

James D. Price

December 9, 1945 - January 31, 1991
James D. Price, 46, formerly of Brookston and Lafayette, died Thursday, Jan. 31, at Cocks Medical Center North, Springfield, Mo., following a heart attack at work.

He was born Dec. 9, 1945, to Marvin E. and Juanita F. Gano Price Sr., in Lafayette.

He attended elementary schools in Brookston and attended Pine Village High School. He received a high school GED diploma in the military service. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietname War. Be moved to Springfield, Mo., from Lafayette, in 1989. He was employed for a truckling firm there, as a dispatcher.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Boonville.

Survivors include two daughters, Rachel Lynn Price and Julie Ann Price, Boonville; and a stepson, Troy Wayne Osha, Boonville; five brothers, Marvin E. Jr., Rossville; Jerry L.; Attica; Max J., Lafayette; Charles R., Monticello and Jack E., Sikeston, Mo.; and two sisters, Mrs. Connie Miller, Lafayette and Mrs. Carol Martin, Rossville. A brother is deceased.

The funeral was Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, the Rev. Duncan MacNab officiating.

Burial was in IOOF Cemetery at Brookston.

Mabel G. Boze

Sept. 11, 1905 to July 5, 1998
Mabel G. Boze. 92, formerly of Monon. died Sunday, July 5. in Monticello Healthcare Center. She had been in ill health for one-year.

She was born Sept. 11, 1905, in Buffalo, to George W. and Callie Bible Eisert. She was married Aug. 9, 1924, to Virgil G. Boze, in Monticello, and he died July 1, 1961. She lived in White County all of her life. She graduated in 1924, from Monticello High School. She and her husband farmed for several years. She attended the Buffalo Christian Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Maxine J. Boehning, Francesville and Helen J. Hoover, Monticello; three sons, Robert D. Lafayette, Kenneth L. and Myron G., both of Monon; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. A daughter, two brothers, a sister and grandchild are deceased.

Funeral services were Wednesday at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello with Rev. Donald Arterburn officiating. Burial was in Riverview IOOF Cernetery, Monticello.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.

Elden M. Cochran

April 20, 1920 - March 29, 1991
Elden M. Cochran, 70, R.4, Monticello, died Friday, March 29, in White Co. Memorial Hospital. He had been in poor health for five years and seriously ill for three weeks.

He was born April 20, 1920, to Claude and Dora Bartle Cochran in Remington. He was married Nov. 14, 1948, to Mary E. Erwin, in Carroll County. She survives.

He lived most of his life in the Reynolds and Monticello communities and was a Navy veteran of World War II, Pacific theater.

He was a farmer most of his life and was employed by the Moorman Manufacturing Co. for 10 years. He retired in 1977.

He was member of the Chalmers American Legion Post.

Surviving with his wife are two sons: Michael S., R.1, Chalmers and Paul W., Stillman Valley, Ill.; four brothers, Kenneth and Albert, both of Monticello; Lynn, Scottsburg and John, LaMar, Arkansas; one sister, Edna Cochran, Frostproof, Fla.; and five grandchildren. One brother and one sister are deceased.

The funeral was Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home, Monticello, the Rev. John Erwin officiating.

military graveside rites were conducted at IOOF Riverview Cemetery.

Alfred Kenneth Moore

October 8, 1905 - October 28, 1989
Alfred Kenneth Moore, 84, 307 S. Wood St., Brookston, died Saturday, Oct. 28, at 2:55 a.m. in St. Anthony Healthcare Center, Lafayette. He had been a patient there since Oct. 6th.

He was born, Oct. 8, 1905, in Jasper County. He was married April 4, 1926, to Mildred V. Hilton, who died May 11, 1968.

He was a carpenter. He was employed at Pinkerton Security from 1961-70. He had lived in Rensselaer and Medaryville before moving to Brookston in 1955. He was a member of the Brookston United Methodist Church.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Velma) Owens, Medaryville; a son, Lawrence LeRoy Moore, Brookston; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Two daughters, two grandchildren and two half sisters are deceased.

Funeral services were Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev Gene Ansell officiating. Burial was in Weston Cemetery.

Kathleen Strantz Dangler

November 9, 1945 - October 21, 1990
Kathleen "Kathy" Strantz Dangler, 44, Chalmers, died Sunday, Oct. 21, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. She had been a patient since Oct 15 and in failing health for 2 years. She was born Nov. 9, 1945, to William A. and Jean Bird Strantz, in County-Durham, England. She was married June 17, 1966, to John C.Dangler, in Lafayette. He survives. She was a graduate of Logansport High School in 1964 and was employed at Purdue in the teacher education services as a certification advisor. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.

Surviving with her husband are her mother, Mrs. Jean Hornback and her stepfather Jim Hornback, both of Phoeniz, Arizona; her father and stepmother, Nancy, Logansport; three brothers, William Strantz Jr and Dan Strantz, both of Phoenix and Gayvin Strantz, Monticello; one sister, Mrs. Randy (Angie) Conklin, Logansport; one half-sister, Noelle Strantz, Logansport; and grandmother, Mrs. Catherine Strantz, Lafayette.

The funeral was Wednesday in Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, the Rev. James Goodrum officiating. The Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston was in charge of the service. Inurnment was Thursday, in Chalmers Community Cemetery.

John "Jack" M. Busch

March 17, 1941 to September 16, 2000
John "Jack" M. Busch, 59, of 5265 W. 850 N, Monon, died unexpectedly on Saturday, September 16, 2000 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette.

He was born March 17, 1941 in Chicago, IL the son of Martin W. and Dorothy (Krischunas) Busch. He married Nancy L. Mack on October 26, 1977 in Las Vegas, NV and she survives. An independent Computer Consultant, he moved to Monon from Crown Point in 1987.

He is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons; Daryl McDonald of Queensland, Australia, Kimberely Huger, Monon, Deborah Lyon, Orlando, FL., Eric Huger, Hobart, IN and Jonathan Huger, Hobart, IN. He had five grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, September 19, 2000 at Kellogg Funeral Home with Rev. Don Newman officiating. A direct cremation will follow the service.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Luella Zelma (Klepinger) Gross

February 28, 1913 - March 26, 2002
Luella Zelma (Klepinger) Gross, 89, of Bigfork, MN died Tuesday, March 26, 2002 in Bigfork.

She was born on February 28, 1913 to Walter and Elsie (Cresse) Klepinger in Brookston, Indiana.

After moving to Bigfork in 1948, Luella worked as a housewife and helped in the Real Estate Business.

She was a member of the White Oak Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Luella was preceded in death by her husband Earnest "Roy" Gross in 1977.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis Gross, Ronald Gross, both of Bigfork; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held on Monday, April 8, 2002 in Lower Unit of Pine Tree Villa with Pastor John Sebentsfeldt officiating.

Services entrusted to the Cremation Society of Minnesota.

Robert A. Hardesty

September 9, 1941 - March 13, 2000
Robert A. Hardesty, 58, of rural Delphi, died Monday, March 13, at Lafayette Home Hospital. He had been ill for eight years and had been hospitalized since March 4, 2000.

He was born September 9, 1941, to Robert Andrew and Myrtle Hermes Hardesty, in Lafayette. He was married August 22, 1964, to Pam Peek in Reynolds and she survives.

He graduated from Reynolds High School, in 1960.

He had lived 35 years in Chalmers and moved in July 1999, to Delphi.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960-62. He was employed as a boat engine mechanic and a truck driver.

He was a member of Chalmers American Legion Post 268.

He is survived by his wife; daughters, Tina (Mark) Hardesty-Ackerman of Wolcott and Tracy (Jon) Hardesty-Goetz of Roanoke; son, Phillip Hardesty of Shelbyville; mother, Myrtle Hardesty of Idaville;. brothers, Jack Hardesty of Pottstown, Pa., Calvin Hardesty, Monticello; Clifford Hardesty, Brookston; Bill Hardesty, Logansport, Doyle Hardesty, Monticello; Elmer Hardesty, Idaville and Carl Hardesty, Houston, Texas; sisters, Rebecca Hardesty, Dusseldorf, Germany and Linda Hardesty Lucy, Monticello and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating. The body was cremated. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
