John Kimball

VINCENNES - John R. Kimball, 45, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes of congestive heart failure.

He was a commercial long-distance truck driver. He was active in the formation of the Youth Soccer Program, organized the Rivet High School soccer program and assisted other high school programs.

Surviving are his father, the Rev. Albert Kimball; two sisters, Laurel Hembree and Elizabeth Anne Ruston; two brothers, Damion and David Kimball; and his grandmother, Emma L. Kimball.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Duesterberg-Fredrick Funeral Home, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Peggy Mattingly

MOUNT VERNON - Peggy Jo Mattingly, 75, of Mount Vernon, Indiana, died Thursday, February 14, 2002, at her home. She was an operator for Indiana Bell Telephone for 20 years before retiring in 1964. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She was a 1944 graduate of Reitz High School and enjoyed square dancing, reading and tending her flower garden.

She is survived by one daughter, Paula Jo Davidson of Evansville; two sons, Rob and Chris Mattingly, both of Mount Vernon; one sister, Bobbie Humphrey of Evansville; one brother, Jack Winfrey of Tow, Texas; nine grandchildren, Stephen, Jessica, Matthew and Sarah Mattingly, Tori Heberer, Kayla Mattingly, Carly Davidson, Rachel Lockhart and Rhett Lynaugh; and one great-grandchild, Emma Lockhart.

Funeral services will be at 8:45 a.m. Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, continued at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Rev. Eugene Dewig officiating. Burial will be in Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home, where there will be a rosary service at 4 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic charities.

Marilyn Mehringer

CELESTINE - Marilyn G. (Brames) Mehringer, 68, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She retired from the Dubois Elevator Co. where she worked for many years.

Surviving are her husband, Leo J.; four daughters, Liz Benton, Ruth Jarboe, Kris Giesler and Diane Lindauer; three sons, Jim, Bob and Bernie Mehringer; a sister, Delores Miller; and 12 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Monday at St. Peter Celestine Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home Downtown Chapel in Jasper, with a St. Peter Parish, St. Ann's Society and Celestine Extension Homemakers Club combined rosary service at 4 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Celestine Catholic Church.

Charles V. Osha

LYNN-VILLE - Charles V. Osha, 79, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at the Waterman Hospital in Eustis, Fla., from a massive stroke.

He had been a winter resident of Tavares and Mount Dora, Fla., for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Lynnville United Methodist Church, Elberfeld American Legion Post 351, life member of Boonville VFW Post 3418, 60-year member of United Mine Workers Local 9926, charter member of Lynnville Volunteer Fire Department, belong to AARP and was a World War II Navy veteran. He retired in 1982 from Peabody Coal Co. Lynnville Mine and had also worked at Sunlight and Tecumseh Coal Mines and Rader's Plumbing and Heating in Lynnville.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Ruth (Geiselman) Osha; a son, Mike Osha of Lynnville; a daughter, Donna "Sis" Derr of Mount Dora, FL.; a brother, Clifford Osha of Evansville; sisters, Mary Tiemann, Clara Gossett, JoAnn Hefley and Norma Russell, all of Evansville, Catherine "Eula" Miller of Lynnville and Wanda Paceley of Portage, IN; grandchildren, Kelly Marsh, Kerri Derr, Tina McKethen, Michael Scott Ausbrook, Troy Osha and Michelle Meyer; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Viva Jeanette; four brothers, Tom, Paul, George and Chris; and his parents, Crista and Ethel Osha.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Pemberton-Bradley Funeral Home in Lynnville, with burial in the Lynnville Cemetery. VFW Post 3418 will conduct graveside rites.

Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home. Rev. Honna Schloss will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lynnville United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Marguerite Quilliam

WASHINGTON - Marguerite (Young) Quilliam, 91, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at Washington Nursing Center.

She retired as a sales clerk, having worked at Donaldson's Toggery and I.G.A. & Arnold's Red and White.

Surviving are a niece and nephew, Edith Montgomery and Clifton F. Young.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Monday at Gill Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Eleanor W. Roth

BOONVILLE - Eleanor W. Roth died on Monday, February 11, 2002, following a brief illness. She was a resident of Village Health Center in Missoula, Montana.

She was born July 9, 1917, at Antone, Oregon, to Everette and Estella Waterman. She grew up in eastern Oregon, leaving for high school in Eveleth, Minnesota, where her uncle was principal of the school. She then moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, and studied nursing at Ancker Hospital, becoming a registered nurse. While there, she met and married Dr. George C. Roth Sr.

She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and served at the national level for nearly 20 years on the DAR Resolutions Committee. She was interested in politics. Following Dr. Roth's death, she moved to Sun City West, Arizona, where she lived until moving to Missoula, Montana in 1999.

She is survived by three children, Patricia Erickson and husband Sven of Orlando, Florida, Dr. George C. Roth Jr. and wife Kathy of Missoula, Montana, and Diane Roth of San Mateo, California. Grandchildren include: David Erickson and wife Lauren of San Bernardino, California, Douglas Erickson and wife Kelly of Clearwater, Florida, Kurt Erickson and wife Melissa of Columbia, South Carolina, Jeffrey Roth of Missoula, Montana, Craig Roth of Missoula, Montana, Andrew Roth of Madison, Wisconsin, and Ashley Roth of Missoula Montana; and four great-grandchildren.

Her fondest memories were of first having a horse at age 12 and the freedom it gave her. She was a student of the origins of the United States of America and was passionate about the freedoms offered by the United States Constitution and the reasons for protecting those freedoms.

Following her husband's death, she became an accomplished painter. She was patient and considerate and always a perfectionist. The range of her interests was limitless.

Graveside services will be noon Saturday, February 16 in Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville, the Rev. R. William Gorton officiating.

Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel is handling arrangements.

Family and friends may meet at the cemetery.

Infant Jacob Shreve

VINCENNES - Infant Jacob William Shreve, the 1-month, 27-day-old son of Stacey Phillips and Josh Shreve, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky., of lung failure.

Also surviving are two sisters, Kayla and Autumn Shreve; and his grandparents, Ron and Brenda Phillips, Della Steelman, Jim and Lisa Shreve, and Art and Mavis Jones.

Services will be at noon EST today at Goodwin Funeral Home, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Nondas Temple

ODON - Nondas "Nonnie" Imogene (Shake) Temple, 81, of Bloomington, Ind., formerly of Odon, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at Indiana University Hospital.

She worked as a bookkeeper at the Brown County Democrat newspaper in Nashville, Ind., and served as a director and officer on the newspaper's corporate board. She also worked in sales in Nashville shops, and after contracting throat cancer, counseled other cancer patients in group settings and person-to-person.

Surviving are a son, Bruce Gregory Temple; a sister, Charlotte Mozelle Shake DeLong; and two grandchildren.

There will be no services or visitation. Day Mortuary in Bloomington is handling arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe County YMCA.

William Tolbert

PRINCETON - William "Buddy" Tolbert, 73, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Gibson General Hospital.

He was a retired bricklayer.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn; three daughters, Billie Wildt, Jeannie Lawn and Annette Newhart; five sons, Johnny, William, Michael and Jeff Burkhart and David Tolbert; two sisters, Faye Riley and Eulah Caldwell; and 17 grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Columbia White Church Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and until 1:30 p.m. Monday at Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton.
