Edith V. King

June 11, 1904 - September 2, 2001
Edith V. Weese King, 97, of Idaville died Sunday, September 2, 2001 at White County Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 11, 1904, in Grant County, West Virginia, to John and Jane Phares Groves. She married Olin Weese in 1920. He died November 26, 1975.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Caley United Methodist Church and was president of the Ladies Aid for at least 25 years. She held many other church offices and was a diligent church worker.

Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Cosgray Williams of Monon; four grandchildren, Dick (Nancy) Cosgray, Jeny Weese, Doug Weese and Reva (Dick) Miller; four step- grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; 12 great- great grandchildren and several step great-great grandchildren.

One son, one stepson, three brothers and four sisters are deceased.

The funeral was this morning at the Caley United Methodist Church with Harrison Metzger Funeral Home, Royal Center, in charge.

Burial was in Davis Cemetery, Burnettsville.

George W. King

June 27, 1907 - November 5, 1988
George W. King, 81, father of Chalmers resident, Marcus King, died at 4:45 am. Saturday, Nov. 5, in Starke Memorial Hospital, Knox..

Mr. King lived at R.1, Knox.

He was born June 27, 1907 in Wolfe County, Kentucky. He was married March 7,1931 to Bessie White in Kentucky. She preceded him in death Jan. 25, 1972.

Surviving are four daughters, Crystal Stineback, Beverly Shores, Barbara Shorter, Knox; Delores Bjork, Elkhart and Kathy McMenamin, Willowbrook, Ill.; six sons, Jason King, Miley; Daniel King, Thomas King and Gary King, all of Knox; Marcus King, Chalmers and Jerry King of Coons Lake; two sisters, Ruth Rudd of Toto and Gladys Fugate, North Judson. and two brothers, Burl King and Robert King, both of Knox.

Service was Tuesday in Toto with burial in North Judson.

James King

July 1, 1918 - October 9, 1997
James King, 79, former Rt. 1, Battle Ground resident, died Thursday, Oct. 9 at 1:50 a.m. in Gentle Care of Lafayette where he had been a resident for the past 2½ years.

He was born July 1, 1918 in Tazewell, Tenn. to Roy and Addie Townsley King.

He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1939 and attended an Art College in Columbus, Ohio.

He retired as a commercial artist from R.R. Donnelly & Son in Crawfordsville, Ind. in 1981 after 17½ years.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Alfred (Gracie) Eisert of Brookston, 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Lon and Ray.

Graveside services were conducted Sunday, Oct. 12, for family and friends at the IOOF Cemetery in Brookston. Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiated. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of the service.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.

Marlene R. King

January 3, 1939 - December 21, 1992
Marlene R. King, 53, Fairmount, Ind., died Monday morning in St. John's hospital, Anderson, following a six month illness. She entered the hospital Friday.

She was born January 3, 1939 near Buffalo, Ind., the daughter of Teddie M. and Anna Grace Thompson Hughes.

She was married May 3, 1959, to Charles King. He survives along with a son Danny King of Fair mount and a daughter, Cadet First Class Julie King of the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She was a real estate broker and insurance agent. She was also a certified appraiser and had served as past secretary, past treasurer and vice president of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers in Indianapolis.

She was a graduate of Buffalo High School and Indiana Business College. She had been a member of the Monticello Rainbow Girls and past matron of the Jonesboro Eastern Star. Also, she was a member of the Buffalo Church of the Brethren.

Also surviving are 3 brothers: Dr. Ted Hughes, Logansport, Jack Hughes, Monon; Joseph Hughes, Jefferson City, TN and 4 sisters; Wilma Sheroan, Monticello; Barbara Reagan, Lancaster, California; (twin sister) Marilyn Waldrop, Paradise Valley, Arizona and Sharon Miller, Elkhart, Ind. One daughter, a brother and sister are deceased.

Friends may call at the Needham-Story Funeral Home in Gas City, Ind., 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday and noon to 4:00, Thursday. The body will lie in state in the United Methodist Church, in Fairmount, 11:00 to 1:00, Saturday with funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Fairmount.

Mary Louise Kingma

November 4, 1931 - September 19, 2002
Mary Louise Kingma, 70, of Rensselaer, died September 19, 2002 in Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer.

She was born November 4, 1931 in Monon, the daughter of Manford and Wilma Zable Rogers.

She married Edwin Kingma on September 1, 1950, in Monon. He died April 28, 1975.

A Teacher's Aide, she was raised in Monon. She graduated from Monon High School.

She had been a resident of Rensellaer since moving there in 1950.

She had been employed as a teacher's aide at the Van Rensselaer Elementary School for 20 years, and was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors are two sons, Gary Kingma, of Crawfordsville, IN., Robert Kingma of Nashville, IN., and two daughters, Cathy (John) Smith of Lake Station and Linda (Randy) Morris of Rensselaer.

One brother, Richard (Doris) Rogers of Indianapolis, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren also survive.

Her parents, husband, and two brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral Services were Monday at Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer with Rev. Philip Leichty officiating.

Burial was in Weston Cemetery, Rensselaer.

Memorials may be made to charity of the donor's choice.

Aloysius I. Kirchgessner

August 23, 1899 - May 10, 1989
Aloysius I. "Al" Kirchgessner, 59, R.1, Battle Ground, died May 10, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been a patient since May 6th.

He was born August 23, 1899, to Andrew and Barbara Brickler Kirchgessner, in Klondike. His first marriage was April 14, 1926 to Louise Becker, in Lafayette. She died in 1965. His second marriage was April 15, 1968 to Nellie Fuller Gerhardt, in Remington. She survives.

He was a retired farmer in Tippecanoe and White counties, where he had farmed since 1930.

He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi. Surviving with his wife are three sons, Joseph and Charles, both of Winamac and Lee, R.1, Battle Ground; two daughters, Helen Ziegler, Lafayette and Delores Kelly, Chalmers; two step daughters, Frances Ziegler, Goodland and Carol Cloud, Bryan, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Two brothers, one sister and two grandchildren are deceased.

The funeral was May 13, in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Delphi, the Rev. Dennis O'Keeffe officiating. The Horn Funeral Home in Delphi was in charge of the service.

Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery at Delphi.

Loretta Kirchgessner

October 17, 1935 - March 5, 1989
Loretta Kirchgessner, 53, R.1, Battle Ground, died Sunday, March 5, in Home Hospital, Lafayette. She had been in failing health the past year.

She was born Oct. 17, 1935, in Rensselaer, and moved from Medaryville to Brookston in 1955. She graduated from Medaryville High School in 1963 and attended Valparaiso University for one year

Mrs. Kirchgessner had been a secretary in the Freshman Engineering department at Purdue from 1960 to 1967.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Delphi.

She was married Feb. 23, 1957, in Delphi, to Lee Kirchgessner, an employee of White Co. Highway Department. He survives.

Also surviving are a son, Jobn and one daughter, Amy, both at home; her father, Alfred Kenneth Moore, Brookston; one brother, Lawrence LeRoy Moore, Brookston; and a sister, Mrs. Melvin (Velma) Owens, Medaryville.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, an infant daughter and her mother. -

Services were Wednesday, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Delphi, with Father Donald Hardebeck officiating.

Interment was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Delphi.

The Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston was in charge of services.

Lee N. Kirchgessner

December 23, 1934 - May 28, 1989
Lee N. Kirchgessner, 54, R.1, Battleground, died Sunday, in Americana Healthcare Center in Lafayette, where he had been a patient for two weeks. He had been in declining health for the past year.

He was born Dec. 23, 1934, to Aloysius and Louise Becker Kirchgessner, in Lafayette. He was married, Feb. 23, 1957, in Delphi to Loretta Moore, who died March 5, 1989.

He was a truck driver for the White Co. Highway Department for 29 years. He retired in June 1988. He also had farmed all his life in White County.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi.

Surviving are one son, John L Kirchgessner, and one daughter Amy J. Kirchgessner, both at home; stepmother, Nellie Kirchgessner, Battle Ground; two brothers, Joseph and Charles both of Winamac; two sisters, Helen Ziegler, Lafayette and Dolores Kelly, Chalmers; two stepsisters, Frances Ziegler, Goodland and Carol Cloud, Bryan, Texas.

He was preceded in death by two infant children.

Funeral was Wednesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Delphi, with the Rev. Donald Hardebeck and the Rev. Ambrose Ziegler officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, was in charge of the service.

Burial was in St. Joseph. Cemetery in Delphi.
