Mary Love

September 23, 1924 - May 15, 2001
Mary (Roy) Love, 76, Brookston, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

She was born September 23, 1924 in Lowell, IN to William Roy and Mary Crawford Roy.

She moved to Brookston five years ago from Hardy, Arkansas.

She was a former restaurant owner in Lowell.

She was also a beautician and was a part-time cook at the White County Jail in Monticello.

She was a member of Twin Lakes Southern Baptist Church, Monticello.

She is survived by a brother, Neal E. (Linda) Roy, Sr. of Brookston; and two sisters, Annette Hawkins, Rensselaer and Joyce (Jerry) Crouch of DeMotte.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 18 at Hartzler Funeral Home with Pastor Ross Terry officiating.

Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.

Doris L. Lowry

March 13, 1926 - September 8, 1994
Doris L. Taylor Lowry, 68, of 102 North St., Battle Ground, died Thursday, Sept. 8 in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette. She had been ill since April.

She was born March 13 1926 in Henryville.

She had lived in the Ash Grove and Battle Ground areas for the past 43 years.

She married C. Kenneth Lowry on Nov. 13, 1946 in Battle Ground. He died Oct. 27, 1976.

She was a graduate of Huffer Beauty College in Lafayette.

She had owned Doris' Beauty Shop for the past 33 years.

She was a member of Women of the Moose, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 1154 and the Rebecca Lodge, all in Lafayette, the Order of Eastern Star in Battle Ground and the American Hairdressers Association.

An avid bowler, she received the Dedicated Bowler Award in 1989 and 1990.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry of Rt. 1, Bringhurst, and Rodney of Rt. 1, Battle Ground; two daughters, Pattie McKee of Lafayette, and Penny Burgess of Battle Ground: three brothers, Earl Taylor of Attica, Jim Taylor of Rt. I, Battle Ground, and Ernie Taylor of Zionsville; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Two brothers. Ward Taylor and Roy Taylor are deceased.

Services were Monday. Sept. 12. at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, Rev. Lewis Ruman officiated.

Interment was in Cario Cemetery, Tippecanoe County.

Kenneth F. Lowry

February 17, 1935 - August 21, 2000
Kenneth F. Lowry, 65, of Reynolds died Monday, August 21, 2000 at his residence.

He was born February 17, 1935 in Francesville, the son of Donald and Catherine Bayless Lowry.

He married Phyllis Kracht on August 17, 1958 in Medaryville. She survives.

He had lived in Francesville all his life until recently moving to Reynolds.

He was in the Fertilizer and Chemical business in Francesville for many years.

He had served in the U.S. Army.

He was an avid Minneapolis-Moline farm equipment fan.

He was a member of the St. James Salem United Church of Christ.

He is survived by a daughter Karen Lowry of Reynolds and two sons: Roger and Ray Lowry both of Reynolds

Two sisters, Mary Eldridge of Rockville, IN and Donna Wen of New Brighton, MN, and four brothers, Richard, Dean, and Paul Lowry of Francesville and James Lowry of Winamac. He had six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

One daughter and three sisters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 28, 2000 at Querry-Ulbricbt Funeral Home in Francesville with Pastor Sherry Maddox officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2000.

Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.

Memorials may be made to St. James Salem United Church of Christ, Diabetes., Heart Fund or Cerebral Palsy Associations.

Harold W. Luck

[1921?] - December 2, 1995

Harold W. Luck, 74, 414 W. 8th Street, Brookston, a lifetime resident of White County, Indiana, passed away at his home, Saturday, Dec. 2. The last year of his life was spent struggling with cancer.

Harold was a former state board member of the Indiana Farm Bureau and the Farm Bureau Insurance Companies.

He served on the Executive Committee for both companies.

He was a past president of the White County Farm Bureau, Inc. and a past chairman of the board of the White County Farm Bureau Co-op.

Recently he was recognized as a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge.

After 44 years of farming, west of Brookston, Harold retired in 1989, and moved with his wife, Virginia, to Brookston, IN.

He enjoyed his retirement, dividing his time among work with the Farm Bureau, golf and friends.

In 1944, Harold was married to Virginia Meyers. Together they had two sons, Larry and Ronald.

Harold joined the U.S. Navy in 1942. He commanded a landing craft in four invasions in Europe and Japan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence B. and Ada Guntrip Luck, and a sister, Mary Alice Robertson.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of Brookston and two sons, Larry B. of Los Alamos, NM and Ronald of Lafayette, IN. Other siblings are John V. Luck, Savan nah, GA and Mae Bailey, Dunedin, FL. Grandchildren include David L. of Albuquerque, NM, Jason P. of Las Cruces, NM, Jennifer R., of Austin, TX and Sabrina D. of Albuquerque, NM.

Funeral will be Thursday, at 11 a.m., at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Rev. William Henderson.

Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery, Brookston, with graveside military services by the Chalmers American Legion Post 268.

Memorials may be given to Chalmers Community Church or Visiting Nurse Hospice.

Dennis E. Lukas

December 23, 1939 - April 23, 1998
Dennis Edward Lukas, 58. Lafayette, died Thursday, April 23. at 1:45 am, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 23, 1939, in Chicago.

He graduated from a Catholic High School in Chicago and the University of Illinois in 1962.

He lived the last 40 years in Lafayette.

He was a buyer at Marshall Fields in Chicago.

He took disability retirement in 1989, from Purdue, where he worked in maintenance at the Krannert School of Management.

Survivors include a half-brother, Everette E. Overman, who is from the Chalmers area, with whom he made his home; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 25, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston with the Rev. Gerald Stevens officiating.

Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Twyla B. Bell Lupton

June 15, 1920 - February 27, 1994
Twyla B. Bell Lupton, 73, Lafayette, died Sunday. Feb. 27, at her residence. She had been ill since 1971.

She was born June 15, 1920 to W. Lynn and Christel Crawford Bell.

Her mother resides in Woodland Manor Nursing Home in Attica.

She married H. Maurice Lupton an June 16, 1940 in Newtown. He survives.

She was a 1938 graduate of Newtown High School. She graduated from Ball State University where she studied library science.

She moved to Anderson from Lafayette in 1946 and returned to Lafayette in March 1986.

She was a former member of the Anderson First Presbyterian Church and member of the Brookston Federated Church and Nikaphilia Club at Anderson.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Diane Lupton of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Mrs. Steve (Jana) Taylor of Brookston; two sons, Mark A. of Anderson and Kirby W. of Kettering, Ohio; one brother, Walter Bell of Newtown; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, and at 2 p.m. at the Anderson Memorial Park Chapel, the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiated.

Burial was in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Arthritis Foundation and Brookston Federated Church.

Ralph E. Luse

March 29, 1930 - October 12, 2000
Ralph E. Luse, 70, Monon, died Thursday, October 12, 2000 at his residence. He had been ill for 18 months.

He was born in Flint, Michigan on March 29, 1930 to William and Erma Malone Luse. He married Thelma Palazzola in Peru on August 29, 1964.

He served in the U.S. Army in the 34th Infantry from 1946 to 1948. He also served in the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Monon in 1965.

He formerly owned the Texaco station in Monon for 4 1/2 years. He also owned and operated Luse's Wrecker Service and Luse's Mobile Home Moving Service.

He was a member of Monticello VFW Post 2231 and a former member of Rail Cities Cruisers car club. He raced stock cars for several years at Rensselaer, Oxford and Monticello.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Michael Luse of Brookston, Rick (Merrilee) Luse of Buffalo, Ronald Mathews of Monticello and Martin (Mary) Sandberg of Monon; daughters Deb (Tom) Moore of Lafayette and Judy (Ton) Dowden and Deborah (Dave) Bresnahan, all of Monticello and Gina (Don) Fawley of Buffalo, Brother Bill (Jane) Luse of Monticello; and 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grand children.

Two brothers, a sister, a son and a great grand daughter are deceased.

Graveside services with full military honors are at 11:00 a.m. today in Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Steve Birch officiating. Kellogg Funeral Home is in charge.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
