Charles G. Miller
June 7, 1918 - January 23, 1995
Charles G. Miller, 76 of Sarasota, Florida and formerly of Brookston, died Monday, Jan. 23, at Doctor's Hospital in Sarasota.
He was born June 7, 1918 in Lafayette, Ind. to Ulna and Myrtle Weaner Miller, He married Audrey Smith on August 6, 1939, and she survives.
He was a veteran of World War II and served as a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy. He served as White County Sheriff from 1956 to 1966.
He was a member of the Brookston Federated Church, a member of the Battle Ground Masonic Lodge 313 F&AM, Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, and the White County Shrine Club. He also was a member of Brookston American Legion Post 251.
Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Laquita) Hayman of Dallas, TX; one sister, Mrs. Philip (Helen) Clymers of Battle Ground; and one brother, Glen Miller of Lafayette.
One brother, Ivan is deceased.
Friends may call at Hartzler Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating.
Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.

Chester I. Miller
October 19, 1917 - May 17, 1994
Chester I. Miller, 76, formerly of Buck Creek, died Tuesday, in Bremen Healthcare Center.
He was born October 19, 1917 in Wolcott. He graduated from Wolcott High School and lived in Buck Creek before moving to Bremen in 1992. He married Marie Victor on May 2. 1948, and she survives.
He formerly farmed near Brookston; worked for Purdue University Dairy and retired in 1980 from Borden Dairy in Lafayette.
He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds and was active in Buck Creek Boy Scout Troop 48.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Chet Miller of Bremen; two sisters, Mrs. Caroline Nye of Grand Forks, ND, and Mrs. Marlyn Medley of Riverview, FL; half brother, Willard Miller of Florida; and 2 granddaughters, Katie and Sarah Miller.
A brother, Myron, 4 half brothers and a half sister preceded in death.
Friends may call at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, from 4-8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held in St. James Lutheran church, Reynolds; at 10:30 a.m. Friday, with Pastor Stephen Koenig officiating. The body will lie in state at the church 1 hour before the service.
Memorials can be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds, or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bremen.
Burial will be in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
Charles W. Miller
January 28, 1919 - May 11, 1990
Charles W. Miller, 71, Chalmers, died Friday, May 11, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been seriously ill for several months.
He was born Jan. 28, 1919, to Charles William and Mary E. Allen Miller, in Chalmers. He was married Aug. 26,1938, to Zula Mae Horton, who survives.
He had worked for 25 years as a truck driver for the former National Homes Co. in Lafayette. He retired in 1977 due to ill health.
He lived in the Chalmers area for 60 years. He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church, American Legion Post No.81, Monticello and the Eagles Lodge, Monticello.
Survivors include a son, Max Miller, Monticello; a daughter, Shirley Wilkerson, R.3, Monticello; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Edna Lucille Spear, Monticello.
A brother and sister are deceased.
The funeral was Tuesday at Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Flynn officiating.
Burial was in Chalmers Cemetery.
Earl W. Miller
March 2, 1928 - July 16, 1994
Earl W. Miller, 66, E. Fourth St., Brookston, died Saturday, July 16, at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette, where he had been a patient since July 14.
He was born in White County on March 2, 1928 to Ben and Katherine Kyburz Miller. He married Marilyn M. Stortz on June 6, 1952 in Wolcott and she survives.
He moved from West Lafayette to Brookston in March 1993.
He farmed for 40 years and worked for Hicks Gas in Brookston for 28 years. He had been on health disability since February.
Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Linda) Barrett Jr., Chalmers; three sons, Robert and Randy of West Lafayette and Roger of Battle Ground; one sister, Carolyn Benker of Lafayette; and six grand children.
One brother is deceased
Funeral services were held Mon day. July 18, at the Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, Jan Wright, a friend, officiated.
Memorial contributions can be made to Riley Hospital for Children.
Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of the arrangements.
Ervin "Squirrelly" Miller
January 11, 1914 - March 13, 2003
Ervin "Squirrelly" Miller, 89, of Rensselaer, died Thursday, March 13, 2003 at St Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born January 11, 1914, in Mt. Ayr, Indiana the son of Manno J. and Grace Handley Miller. His first marriage was to Mabelle Latta on April 29, 1932. He married Helen Francis Daugherty on March 28, 1964, in Rensselaer. She survives.
Squirrelly had been a resident of Newton and Jasper counties all his life and attended the Fair Oaks schools. He was a self-employed farmer and carpenter.
He was a 50-year member of the Prairie Lodge #124 F&AM in Rensselaer, he was also a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and the York Rite of Indiana-Lafayette Commandery No 3.
Survivors include a daughter, Patty Jo (Wayne) Halsema of Lafayette; three sons, Terry E. (Melissa) Miller, Lee (Cathy) Miller and Larry Joe Miller all of Rensselaer; two sisters, Velma Waite of Sacramento, CA and Lorene (Ora) Hughes of Monon.
His first wife, Mabelle Miller of Rensselaer and three grandsons, Jim Miller, Jeff Miller and Mike Halsema and three great granddaughters also survive.
One brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services were Monday, March 17, 2003, at Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer with Rev. Ed Bontreger officiating.
Burial was in Memory Garden Cemetery, Rensselaer.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Frank 'Bun' Miller
December 31, 1894 - December 27, 1992
Frank "Bun" Miller 97, Brookston and Jensen Beach, Florida, died Dec. 27, in George Davis Manor, West Lafayette, where he had been a patient since Sept. 26th.
He was born Dec. 31, 1894, to Frank A. and Anna E. Marshall Miller, in Chalmers. He was married April 16, 1919, to Rose M. Scott, in Monticello, and she died Nov. 6, 1987.
He lived in Brookston since 1911 and graduated from Brookston Academy in 1912.
He and Pete, his brother, owned and operated the Miller Brothers' Restaurant, Brookston, for 30 years. He also was a rural mail carrier for 20 years, before retiring Jan. 1, 1960.
He was a member of the Brookston American Legion Post No. 251, the Community Church of Jensen Beach, FL, Libanus Masonic Lodge No. 154 of Monticello. He was also a former member of Brookston United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Dorothy) Biddle, Brookston and Jensen Beach, FL.; three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A brother and two sisters are deceased.
The funeral was Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Pastor Lore Blinn Gibson officiating.
A military graveside service was conducted at IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or to Brookston United Methodist Church.
Kenneth D. Miller
September 23, 1928 - August 27, 1995
Kenneth D. Miller, 68, Monticello, died at 6:08 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at White Co. Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for a short time.
He was born Sept. 23, 1928, to Alfred L. and Essie M. Baker Miller in Benton County. He was married Nov. 8, 1944, to Alberta Sterrett, in Monticello and she sur vives.
He lived in White County most of his life. He retired from Amoco Oil in Brookston and McGill Manufacturing Co. in Monticello.
He and his wife have been wintering in Texas for the last six years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion Post and Libanus Masonic Lodge No. 154, both in Monticello.
Surviving with his wife and mother are a daughter, Mrs. William E. (Connie J.) Maffet, Monticello; a son, Greg D., Delphi; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A brother is deceased.
The funeral was Tuesday at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home.
A private burial was in Chalmers Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Marie K. Miller
September 16, 1920 - June 21, 1997
Marie K. Miller, 76, formerly of Buck Creek, died Saturday, June 21, at 5:10 p.m. at Community Hospital, Bremen.
She was born Sept. 16, 1920, to Dewey and Agnes Catherine Ma tin Victor Sr., in Brookston. She was married May 2, 1948, to Chester I. Miller, and he died May 17, 1994.
She worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center for 10 years and was a homemaker. She graduated in 1938 from Brookston High School and from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing.
She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She also was active in PTA and Cub Scouts.
Survivors are a son, Chet Miller, of Bremen; a brother, Don Victor, Fowler; a sister Loretta Pattee, Lafayette and two granddaughters, Kati and Sarah Miller.
A brother, Dewey "Bud" Victor Jr., is deceased.
Funeral services were today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. in St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds, with Pastor Stephen Koenig officiating.
Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of arrangements.
Interment was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
Memorials may be given to St. James Lutheran Church, Scleroderma Foundation, American Diabetes. Association or Parkinson's Foundation.
