Wilma Miller

December 8, 1914 - December 21, 2002
Wilma Miller, 88, of Monticello, died Saturday, December 21, 2002, at Twin Lakes Village.

She was born on December 8, 1914, in Grass Creek, to Ernest and Esther M. Close Coleman. She married Delma Henderson on June 6, 1944. He is deceased. She then married William Hicks in 1945. He died July 10, 1989.

Her third marriage was to Doyle Miller in 1970. He died in 1989.

She was a graduate of Grass Creek High School.

She was a homemaker.

Surviving are granddaughters; Dawn Flynn of Brookston, Kathy Zabel of Peru and Laurie Henderson of Spencer; grandsons, Mark Fry and Robert Fry of Sikeston, MO; and eight great-grandchildren.

A son, Francis Henderson, and a daughter, Patricia Fry, are deceased.

Graveside services were held on Friday at Thompson Cemetery, Royal Center.

Richard F. Minnicus

July 12, 1929 - March 27, 1988
Richard F. Minnicus, 58, of Reynolds; died at 8:50 p.m. Sunday in the White County Memorial Hospital at Monticello. He had been in ill health six months, and seriously ill two months.

He had been a dispatcher for American Airlines from 1955 until retiring in 1984.

He was born in Reynolds, July 12, 1929, and lived in Mt. Prospect, IL, Grapevine. TX. and Park Falls, WI, prior to returning to Reynolds. He graduated from Reynolds High School in 1947, and served with the U.S. Air Force in England from 1950 to 1954.

Mr. Minnicus was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds; and American Legion Post 182, Park Falls.

Surviving are two brothers, George R. "Bud" Minnicus of Reynolds and Charles A. Minnicus of Delphi; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Margaret Nagel, Rensselear; Mrs. Jean Hansell, Chalmers and Mrs. Ruth Ruemler, Reynolds.

Services were at 10 am. Wed., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds. Memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church or charity of choice.

Daryle R. Mohler

December 27, 1929 - unknown
Daryle R. Mohler, Lafayette, formerly of Monon, died Thursday, July 16, in Home Hospital, Lafayette.

He was born Dec. 27, 1929, to Charles and Ola A. Leach Mohler, in Monon.

He was a 1950 graduate of Monon High School.

He had lived most of his life in White County, moving to Lafayette, two years ago.

He is a U.S. Anny veteran, serving in the Korean War.

He was employed as a supervisor for 32 years at RCA in Monticello and was a self-employed carpenter.

He was a member of the Monon First Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Douglas R. of Lafayette and Gary L. of Monticello; a sister, Maxine Brogdon of Monon; a brother, Holis of Monon and seven grandchildren.

Two brothers are deceased.

Funeral services were Sunday at Kellogg Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Hicks officiating.

Interment will be at a later date.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes. Foundation.

Emma G. Mohler

June 10, 1925 - September 4, 1999
Emma G. Mohler, 74, Monon, died Saturday, Sept. 4, at White Co. Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 10, 1925, to John H. and Fern Truax Rogers, in Monon. She was married June 10, 1947, to Donald E. Mohler in Reynolds. He died Sept 5, 1978.

She was a homemaker and worked as a cook at the South Side Restaurant in Monon for several years.

She was a member of the Monon Community Church.

She is survived by a son, Mark Mohler of Billings, Montana; two daughters, Cindy Troyer of Monon and Karen Ricks of Monticello; and seven grandchildren.

Three sisters and a brother are deceased.

Funeral service was Wednesday, at Kellogg Funeral Home. with the Rev. Don Newman officiating Burial was in Bedford Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Cancer Society or Diabetes. Foundation.

Dale Ervin Moore

May 18, 1937 - April 15, 1989
Dale Ervin Moore, 51, 409 E. 12th St., Brookston, died Saturday, April 15, in his home.

He was born May 18, 1937, to Ervin Louis and Lila Kropp Moore, in Newberry, Michigan.

Formerly of the Monticello area, he lived in Brookston for the last three years. He was a Navy veteran.

Survivors include his mother, Lila Ludy, Newberry; a daughter, Lesa Duchey, Kalamazoo. Mich.; a sister, Adra Musgrave, Newberry; and a grandson.

Ashes will be buried in Newberry Cemetery, Newberry, at a later time.

Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, in charge.

Ray E. Moore

June 26, 1914 - May 21, 1989
Ray E. Moore, 74, R.4, Delphi, died Sunday, May 21, in his home. He had been in failing health for 10 years. He was born, June 26, 1914, to Guy and Esther Wingard Moore, in Wolcott He was married 1936 to AIta Madelle North who died in 1960. He married Mary Martha Shuey Reifert, in 1961, and she survives.

He war a graduate of Monticello High School in 1932 and a Navy veteran of World War II, also the Korean War. After retiring from the Navy in 1957, as a Chief Petty Officer, he served in the Naval Reserves for 10 years.

From 1967 to the mid 1960s be owned Ray's Barber Shop in Brookston. During the time he lived in Brookston, he was a member of the Brookston Federated Church and a former Sunday school teacher.

After selling the barber shop he worked for Globe Valve and then at Peters-Revington. He retired in 1980.

He was a member of Delphi American Legion Post 75 and was active on the men's bowling leagues in Delphi.

Surviving with his wife are three stepdaughters, Patricia Ann Abbott, Rensselaer; Mary Lytle, Monticello and Virginia Cox, Rossville; one stepson, David (Mike) Reifert, Camden; two sisters, Hazel Collins, Thornhope and Lillian Stover, Star City; one brother, Guy Earl Moore, South Bend; 14 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral services were at Horn Funeral Home in Delphi, with Navy Chaplain Joe Kiene officiating.

Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette, with full military rites.

Gordon Morehouse

February 20, 1910 - June 28, 2002
Gordon Morehouse, 92, of Brookston died Friday, June 28, 2002 at his residence.

He was born February 20, 1910, in Reynolds, to Walter and Mae Miller Morehouse. He married Zora Irene Arnett on November 9, 1941, in Brookston. She died on January 24, 1987.

He lived in Brookston since 1948, moving there from the Reynolds and Badger Grove communities.

He was employed at Purdue University for 30 years in the heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration department, and retired in 1975.

He was associated with the Brookston Church of Christ.

Surviving are daughters Donna (Ron) Perigo of Lafayette and Judy (Jewell) Dees of Manassas, Va.; nine grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

Two brothers and a sister are deceased.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston with Pastor Bob Stokes officiating.

Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston.

Lawrence M. Morehouse

October 6, 1902 - June 28, 1987
Lawrence M. Morehouse, 84, Brookston, died Sunday, June 28 in St Anthony Healthcare Center in Lafayette. He had been a patient there since May 13.

He was born Oct. 6, 1902 in Octagon, to William and Bertha Kell Morehouse. He married Josephine Martin, March 6, 1933, in Lafayette. She survives.

He retired in 1981 from Edwood Glen Country Club Golf Course in West Lafayette.

Surviving with the wife are four sons, William D. Morehouse, Stockton, Calif.; Richard W. Morehouse, Battle Ground; James E. Morehouse and George M. Morehouse, both of Brookston; one sister, Mrs. Lorene Rowe, West Lafayette; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Two brothers are deceased.

A graveside service was conducted Tuesday in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston, the Rev. Bill Romans officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston was in charge of the service.

Russell J. Morehouse

September 22, 1903 - January 4, 1993
Russell J. Morehouse, 89, formerly of R.2, Brookston, died Jan. 4, in St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Delphi. He had been a patient there since Nov. 2, 1992.

He was born Sept. 22, 1903, to Levi J. and Clara Gosma Morehouse, in Badger Grove Township. He was married Dec. 23, 1924, to Edna May Chilton, who died May 18, 1983.

Before moving to St. Elizabeth Healthcare, he had lived at Lafayette Healthcare since Oct. 1991 and before that, had lived at Heritage Healthcare in West Lafayette since Nov. 1990.

He graduated from Brookston High School in 1921 and attended Ball State University. In 1984, he retired from farming in Badger Grove. He owned three Hoosier Homestead farms.

He was a member of Badger Grove Baptist Church and was a former Sunday School teacher, church superintendent and was an honorary deacon of the church.

He was a member of Octagon Masonic Lodge No. 511, where he was past master and had received his 50-year pin.

He was a former member of Prairieland Community Housing Board of Directors and of the Prairie Township Advisory Board. He had received the Round Grove Award for outstanding person of the year.

Survivors are a son, Don, R.2, Brookston; two daughters: Mrs. June Carter, R.1, Brookston and Joy Carlson, Warsaw; a brother, Roscoe, Noblesville; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren are deceased.

The funeral was today at 11 a.m. in Badger Grove Community Baptist Church with the Rev. Christi Schmidt officiating.

Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.

Memorials may be given to Badger Grove Community Baptist Church.
