Richard W. Morehouse

December 4, 1935 - October 27, 1998
Richard W. Morehouse, 62, of Battle Ground, died early Tuesday, October 27, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

He was born Dec. 4, 1935, to Lawrence M. and Josephine Martin Morehouse, in Brookston. He was married Nov. 2, 1968, to Rose Marie Smith in Fowler, and she survives.

He was a World War II veteran, who served in the US. Navy.

He had received his GED.

He was employed at General Foods and retired in 1987.

He had lived in the Battle Ground community for 30 years.

He was a member of the Lafayette Navy Club, a life member of VFW No. 1154 and a 30-year member of American Legion Post No. 492.

Survivors include his wife, three daughters, Suzanne Morehouse, West Lafayette; Sandra Morehouse, Battle Ground and Lisa Morehouse. Lafayette; two sons, Donald Combs, Clarksville, Tenn. and Jason Morehouse, Lafayette; two brothers, William D. of Stockton, Calif. and George M. of Lafayette; and five grandchildren. A brother is deceased.

Funeral services were Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating.

Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston, with full military rites by VFW No. 1154.

Memorials may be given to Mending Hearts, St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Zora Irene Morehouse

February 23, 1923 - January 24, 1987
Zora Irene Morehouse, Brookston, died at 10:05 am Saturday, Jan. 24, in St Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette.

She was born to William and Pearce Arnett, Feb. 23, 1923, in Kokomo. She married Gordon Morehouse, Nov. 9, 1941 in Brookston. He survives.

She had worked in the laundry department at Indiana Veterans Home before retiring in 1966.

She was a member of the Brookston Church of Christ, Lafayette Tops Club 1069, Liberty Chapel Friendship Club, Frontier Senior Citizens and Prairie Home Demonstration Club.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Donna) Perigo, Lafayette; and Mrs. Jewell (Judy) Dees, Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Winslow and Mrs. Alice Sharp, both of Lafayette; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday in Hartzler Funeral Home at Brookston, with minister Bill Romans officiating. Burial was in Brookston IOOF Cemetery.

B. Marie Wacker Morgan

February 27, 1915 - July 4, 1995
B. Marie Wacker Morgan, 79, formerly of Battle Ground, died Tuesday, July 4, at 7:35 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Delphi, where she had lived since Nov. 30, 1994. She lived in rural Battle Ground, Brookston, and with a daughter in Delphi, for seven years prior to moving to St. Elizabeth Healthcare.

She was born Feb. 27, 1915, in White County, to William Wacker and Lena Zabel. She married Robert L. Morgan, June 11, 1936, in Lafayette. He died March 10, 1983.

She was a homemaker and cook at Battle Ground School, Purdue and at Kentucky Fried Chicken. She was a member of Battle Ground United Methodist Church and attended Delphi Community Church of God. She was a former member of Pleasant Grove Grange, Tippecanoe Co. Farm Bureau and Liberty Chapel Ladies Aid.

She is survived by a son, Robert W. Morgan, West Lafayette; and 4 daughters, Mrs. Carl (Ruth) Hanaway, Delphi; Mrs. Cass (Norma) Sterrett, Battle Ground; Mrs. Donna Callahan, Indianapolis and Mrs. David (Helen) Hutton, Northridge, CA; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband and 4 stepbrothers.

Funeral services were Friday, July 7, At Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Pastor Chester Ash officiating.

Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette, Ind.

Gary A. Morgan

August 26, 1941 - July 20, 1997
Gary A. Morgan, 55, Chalmers, died Sunday, July 20, at White Co. Memorial Hospital. He died of a heart attack.

He was born Aug. 26, 1941, to Donald and Anna Tyler Morgan, in Peru. He was married Oct. 29, 1983, to Patricia Max Wolf, in Kokomo.

He had lived in Chalmers since 1994.

He was a 1960 Peru High School graduate.

He retired from Kokomo Delco Electronics in 1990, where he had worked for 30 years.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietname War from Nov. 1963 to Nov. 1967.

He served for four years in Greenland in the 305 Civil Engineering Squadron.

He was a member of the Chalmers American Legion Post No. 268. He was a past president of Parents without Partners in Kokomo. He was a former member and trustee of the Eagles Lodge in Kokomo and former member of the Moose in Peru.

Surviving with his wife are five sons, John, Mulberry; and Larry of Monon; Scott of Bloomington and Jason, Chalmers; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Tracy) Bailey, converse; grandmother, Helen Klettheimer, Lafayette and eight grandchildren.

The funeral was today conducted at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating.

Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery. military services were conducted by the Chalmers American Legion Post No. 268.

Memorials may be given to the Chalmers American Legion Post No. 268.

Juanita North Morgan

September 3, 1921 - December 20, 1995
Juanita North Morgan, 74, Lafayette, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, at her home.

She was born Sept. 3, 1921, to Dwight E. and Florence Hawkins North, in Lafayette. She was married Dec. 21, 1950, to Dean Morgan, who died July 30, 1968.

She had lived in White and Tippecanoe counties.

She graduated in 1939, from Brookston High School. She was a member of the Badger Grove Community Baptist Church.

She retired after working 20 years as a data specialist at Purdue's Agriculture Department.

Surviving are a son, Dale Blessing, Hampton, Va.; a daughter, Karla Jean Blessing, Wingate; a sister, Naomi Harmon, Lafayette and three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral service was Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery in Brookston.

Memorial contributions may be given to Badger Grove Community Baptist Church.

Charles P. Morris

July 29, 1940 - July 9, 1997
Charles "Chuck" F. Morris, 50, Delphi, died Wednesday evening, July 9, at home.

He was born July 29, 1940, to Harold and Dorothy Riley Morris, in Lafayette. He was married August 10, 1974, to Georgia R. Stewart, in Danville, Ill. She died June 13, 1997.

He had lived the last 17 years in Delphi and had lived in Lafayette and West Lafayette.

He graduated in 1964, from Southwestern High School. He attended Purdue's School of Veterinary Science.

He was a Union Carpenter past 34 years, most recently working for Kettlehut Construction.

He was in the U.S. Navy serving in the Vietname War from Jan. 2, 1969, to April 30, 1971. He served in the U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battery.

He was a member of the Brookston United Methodist Church, Carpenters Union No. 215 and the Wabash Valley Beagle Club.

Surviving are two sons, Jeff Edwards and Jerry Edwards, both Lafayette; a brother, Clarence of Lafayette; and six grandchildren, Melissa, Tiffany and Joshua Edwards and Amber Leming, Rebecca Hooper and Nathan Davis.

Two brothers are deceased.

The funeral was conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with pastor Mark T. Kurowski officiating.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Mary Maxine Morris

December 15, 1922 - August 3, 2002
Mary Maxine Morris, 79, of Reynolds, died Saturday, August 3, 2002, at White County Memorial Hospital after being involved in a traffic accident in Monticello.

She was born on December 15, 1922, in Reynolds, to John H. and Louise Buss Ruemler. She married Denzel Morris on January 24, 1969. He died December 27, 1991.

She lived in the Reynolds community for most of her life.

She was a homemaker, and enjoyed gardening and her cats.

She was employed as a housekeeper/home care provider, who worked at Rensselaer Nursing Home, White County Jail and White County Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds.

Surviving are a brother, Alfred (Mary) Ruemler of Reynolds and a sister, Wilma Sommers of Monticello.

Funeral Services were August 8th at St. James Lutheran Church, with Rev. Daniel May and Rev. Charles Blakey officiating. Miller-Roscka Funeral Home was in charge.

Burial was at Memory Garden Cemetery, Rensselaer.

Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church.

Beulah M. Moss

September 22, 1910 - March 7, 1993
Beulah M. Moore Moss, 82, died Sunday afternoon, March 7, in St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Mason City, IA. She had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. David (Jann) Muller at 1065 Briarstone Dr., Mason City, IA for the past 2½ years.

She formerly lived at 15 Brady Court. She was born September 22, 1910 in Tazewell, TN.

She was a graduate of Brookston High School. She was also a member of Immanuel Church of Christ.

She married Carl F. Moss in Lafayette on June 6, 1931. He was a civil engineer in Purdue University's Planning and Engineering Dept. prior to his retirement. He died April 10, 1975.

Surviving with her daughter, Jann, is a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Hazel) Van Ostran of Lafayette. A sister and a brother preceded in death.

The funeral was at 10 a.m. today in Hippensteel Chapel, the Rev. Kenneth L. Scherry officiated.

Interment is in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
