Regina Overton

March 8, 1918 - September 7, 1999
Regina Overton, 81, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Home Hospital, Lafayette.

She was born March 8, 1918, to Leonard and Cynthia Gertrude Hamilton Widner, in Rensselaer. She was married Sept. 18, 1939, to Jay W. Overton in Monon and he died Oct. 2, 1968.

She was a homemaker. She had been employed at Per-Pak in Brook for 12 years and was retired.

She lived in the Monon community most of her life.

She was a member of the Monon Wesleyan Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Glenda M. Simmons, Monon and Debra J. Bretzinger, Rochester; two sons, Donald J., Lafayette and Larry P. of Francesville; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Two sons, a daughter, three sisters and four brothers are deceased

Funeral services were Friday at Monon Wesleyan Church with Pastor Mark Deisler officiating.

Burial was in Monon Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Monon Wesleyan Church or the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Eugene 'Gene' Page

September 24, 1919 - April 25, 2001
Eugene "Gene" Page, 81, Francesville, brother of a Monon resident, died Wednesday, April 25 at his residence.

He was born Sept. 24, 1919, to Howard and Marie Waymire Page, in Medaryville. He was married July 19, 1958, to Iris Wright in Jamestown, and she survives.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served 40 months overseas with 277 days in combat.

He had been a dairy farmer and also farmed and was retired.

He resided 81 years in Francesville.

He was a member of the Society of the 5th Division. He was also a member of the Indiana sheriffs Association.

He is survived by his wife; a son, John (Ruth) Wright of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughters, Karen Wright of Francesville; Linda (John) Fix of Laporte and Pat (Roger) Querry of Edmond, Oklahoma; a brother, Raymond Page, Monon; half-brothers, Ralph Cain and Morris Cain, both of LaPorte; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Three sisters and a half-brother are deceased.

Services were Saturday at the Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home, Francesville, with pastor Thomas Hoehner officiating.

Burial, with military graveside rites by Jesse Engle Post No. 228 of Francesville was in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.

James Rollie Pardue

July 23, 1923 - June 3, 1993
James Rollie Pardue, 69, Francesville, died Thursday, June 3, in Pulaski Memorial Hospital Winamac.

He was born July 23, 1923, to Ottis O. and Kate Roundtree Pardue, in Smith Grove, Kentucky. His mother lives in Monticello.

He lived most of his life in Francesville.

He had been employed as a carpenter, and also delivered the Lafayette Journal and Courier in the Francesville area.

Surviving with his mother are two sons, Rodney and Ryan, both of Francesville; a daughter, Ronda Jones, Monon; three sisters Pauline Sinks, Kentland; Bernice Meiser, Brookston and Leona Rogers, Monon; three brothers, Leroy of Reynolds; Marvin, Shreveport, Louisiana and Richard of Union Mills; and five grandchildren. A grandson is deceased.

The funeral was Saturday in Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home, Francesville, with Jim Ketchen officiating.

Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.

Lovilla (Lutes) Pardue

September 24, 1944 - October 25, 2001
Nondis Lovilla Pardue, 57, sister of area residents, passed away October 25 in Shreveport, LA. She was born Sept. 24, 1944, at Francesville, Ind. to Chester and Nondis (Shaffer) Lutes.

She was raised in Monon, where she attended Monon Baptist Church and graduated from Monon High School with the Class of 1962, She attended Secretarial College in Chicago. She married Marvin Pardue, Nov. 11, 1962 and he preceded her in death July 17, 1996.

They had resided in Shreveport since 1977, previously living in Indianapolis, Covington and Greencastle, Indiana.

She had worked for H&R Block, was an avid gardener and enjoyed needlework. She had a great love for children and cared for many in her home through the years.

Three sons survive, Bruce (wife Porntipa) of New Boston, TX; Ronald (wife, Angela) of Shreveport; Brian (wife Twyla) of Shreveport; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Her parents and a granddaughter preceded her in death.

A sister survives, Wanda Durham, Menon and five brothers, LaVerne Lutes of Linden; Fred Lutes (wife Jan) of Mt. Prospect, IL; Arthur Lutes (wife Eugenia) of Holley. NY; Darryl Lutes (wife Shirley) of West Point and Loren Lutes of Fayetteville, PA. Her Aunt Ardath Owens of Monon, also survives.

Services were held October 30 in Shreveport with Rev. Larry Earl officiating and interment at Rose-Neath Cemetery.

Mary Kate Pardue

February 20, 1906 - November 6, 1994
Mary Kate Pardue, 88, a resident of Monticello Healthcare Center and formerly of Monon, died Sunday, Nov. 6, at 9:14 a.m. in White Co. Memorial Hospital.

She was born Feb. 20, 1906, to Thomas P. and Candice Peacie Whittle Rountree, in Rocky Hill, Kentucky. She was married Aug. 2, 1922 to Ottis O. Pardue, in Kentucky and he died Aug. 28, 1964.

She lived most of her life, in Monon, and was a homemaker. She had been in the Monticello Healthcare Center for four years.

She was a member of the Monon First Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons; Richard P. of Union Mills, Leroy P., Reynolds and Marvin P., Shreveport, La.; three daughters; Leona Rogers, Monon; Mary Pauline Sinks, Kentland and Bernice P. Meiser, Brookston; a brother, Roy Rountree, Newport Richey, Florida; 19 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

The funeral was this morning at 11 a.m. in the Kellogg funeral Home, Monon, with Rev. John Hall officiating.

Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Monon First Response Team.

Francis A. Parker

February 24, 1921 - February 17, 1997
Francis A. Parker, 75, Brookston, died Monday, Feb. 17, at 3:25 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette.

He was born Feb. 24, 1921, to Alfred and Laura May Dilts Parker, in Lafayette. He was married June 27, 1948, to Eunice Rayburn and she survives.

He was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1942-45, serving in the Pacific.

He retired in 1987, from Ross Gear/TRW.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane Bee and Tina Parker, both of Lafayette; and two grandchildren. Four brothers are deceased.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Ron Guzman officiating.

Burial will be at the Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimers Association.

Lula G. Parks

February 11, 1905 - June 7, 1991
Lula G. Parks, 86, formerly of Chalmers, died Friday, June 7, at St. Anthony Healthcare in Lafayette, where she had lived since October 1990.

She was born Feb. 11, 1905, to Othello and Mary "Effie" Wilson Parks, in Scott County. She never married.

She had lived in Chalmers, since 1913, prior to moving to the healthcare center. She graduated in 1923, from Chalmers High School.

She attended Lafayette Business College and worked as a secretary in Chalmers Elementary and High schools, retiring in 1969. She was a member of Chalmers Community Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Merle, Chalmers and Lloyd, Tucson, Arizona; and one sister, Carmen Parks, Chalmers. Three brothers: and two sisters are deceased.

The funeral was Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, the Rev. Loran Shuman officiating.

Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.

Wilson L. Parks

March 29, 1910 - November 3, 1989
Wilson Lynn Parks, 79, 206 Earl St., Chalmers, died Friday, Nov. 3, at 12:05 p.m. in St Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been a patient since Sept. 15.

He was born March 29, 1910, to Othello C. and Mary S. Wilson Parks, in Scottsburg. He was married July 1, 1955, to Orpha Hicks Flynn, in Chalmers. She died Dec. 11, 1982.

He was graduated from Chalmers High School and attended Lafayette Business College.

He was a retired farmer and lived most of his life in Chalmers. He was a member of the Chalmers Community Church.

Surviving are one stepson, Max S. Flynn, Lafayette; two step daughters, Mrs. Luella A. Park, Lafayette and Mrs. Paul (Dana Lee) Bunnell, R.5, Monticello; two brothers, Floyd M., Tucson, Ariz.; and Merle M., Chalmers; two sisters, Lula G Parks and Carmen B. Parks, both of Chalmers; 11 step-grandchildren and 11 step great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.

The funeral was Monday at 11 a.m. in Chalmers Community Church with the Rev. Loren Schuman officiating. Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston was in charge of services.

Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.

Edward F. Patrick

August 13, 1900 - February 11, 1991
Edward F. Patrick, 90, Buck Creek, died Monday, Feb. 11, at 2:45 p.m. in Lafayette Healthcare Center. He had lived there since 1985.

Mr. Patrick, a farmer most of his life, retired from farming in the Chalmers area in 1965.

He was born Aug. 13, 1900, in Hazel Dell, Ill., and lived in Chalmers before moving to Buck Creek, 13 years ago. He was married June 23, 1920, to Gladys Dunk, who survives.

He was a member of Pyrmont Church of the Brethren.

Surviving with his wife are nine sons, Kenneth E. Patrick, Elmer Patrick, Ralph Patrick, Homer Patrick, R. Evan Patrick and Roy Patrick, all of Lafayette; Donald Patrick, Las Vegas, James Patrick, Mt. Pleasant, Mich. and Roger Patrick, Chalmers; three daughters, Mrs. David (Norma) Garriott, Lafayette; Mrs. Denver (Mary) Pemberton. Fairmount; and Mrs. Eddie (Sharon) Davis, Winchester, Ky., and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Brubaker, Modesto, Calif. and Mrs. Alma Flora, Brandenton, Fla. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren. His parents, William B. and Ida Frantz Patrick, 5 brothers, 5 sisters, 3 grandchildren preceded in death.

Service was today at 10:30 a.m. at Bodine-Brown Funeral Home, Rossville, with Pastor Guy Studebaker officiating.

Interment was at Pyrmont Cemetery.
