Nancy Ann Raver
February 15, 1960 - March 4, 2002
Nancy Ann Pavell Raver, 42, of Jasper, Ala, a former local resident, died Monday, March 4, 2002 at Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper, Ala.
She was born in Rensselaer on February 15, 1960, to Anthony "Tony" and Mary Pavell. She married Clark Raver in Monon on June 20, 1982. He survives.
She attended Rensselaer schools through her sophomore year. She was a 1978 graduate of Twin lakes High School.
In school she was active in theatre and a library assistant.
She formerly worked at the Twin Lakes Theatre and was a director and actress for RetroAct Productions. In Alabama, she was manager of a theatre in Birmingham and Jasper.
She was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Rensselaer, then transferred to the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in Monticello.
Also surviving are three daughters, Katie, Toni, and Peri, all at home; her mother, Mary Pavell of Monticello; a sister, Cathy Dyer of Monticello; and brother Larry Pavell of Carpentersville, Ill.
An infant son, Adam, is deceased.
Funeral services were March 7 at Kilgore-Green Funeral Chapel, Jasper, Ala.
A memorial service is planned at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, Monticello.
Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
Joseph O. Rayman
August 7, 1927 - February 27, 1990
Joseph O. Rayman, 62, 5745 W. 1100N, West Lafayette, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He had been a patient there since Feb. 19th.
He was born Aug. 7, 1927, to Phillip Oscar and LoDema Harris Rayman, in Lafayette. He was married Feb. 23, 1952, to Joann M. Bucholtz, in Lafayette. She survives.
He was a farmer in Round Grove Township, White County and work ed 15 years for Ross Gear in Lafayette. He was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Barrydale and a member of the parish council. Also, he was a member of Country Promenaders and an avid euchre player.
Other survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Rebecca) Swygman, Augsburg, West Germany, Mrs. Mark (Mary) Sypnieski and Mrs. Michael (Barbara) Hoover, both of Nashville, Tenn. and Jennifer Rayman, Lafayette; two sons, Kenneth J. and Daniel E., both of West Lafayette; two brothers, Paul L, Montrose, Colo. and Cornelius J., Lafayette; a sister, Marilyn Johnston, West Lafayette; and 13 grandchildren.
The funeral will be tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in St. Bridget's Catholic Church Berrydale with the Rev. Ambrose Ziegler officiating. Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. today at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston. A wake service will be at 7:30 p.m.
Entombment will be in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum, West Lafayette.
Bertie D. Redding
May 16, 1904 - May 25, 1991
Bertie D. Marshall Smith Redding, 87, formerly of Brookston, died Saturday, May 25, in Heritage Healthcare Center, West Lafayette. She had been a patient there since March.
She was born May 16, 1904, to Elbert S. and Nora Tedlock Marshall, in Clinton County. She was. married in 1926, to Glen R. Smith who died in 1937. She then was married Sept. 7, 1946, to Cecil Redding, who died June 16, 1971.
She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1921, and received a teaching certificate from Ball State Teachers College.
Since 1946, she had lived in the Brookston area.
She retired from elementary teaching in 1964 and had taught in Clinton and White counties.
She was a member of Brookston Federated Church and a former Sunday school teacher of the Philathea Class. Also, she was a member of the sewing circle at the church and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was a former member of the Worthwhile Club.
Survivors include a son, Robert Smith, Rosewell, Ga.; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Jo Bell, Wilmington, N.C. and Mrs. Ann Kiger, R.1, Brookston; a sister, Mrs. Mary Slick, Edinburgh; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. A brother is deceased.
The funeral was Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Ed. Summerfield officiating.
Burial was in Geetingsville Cemetery.
Emmitt Reed, Sr.
January 5, 1936 - February 12, 2003
Emmitt Reed, Sr., 67, of Monon, died Wednesday, February 12, 2003 at White County Memorial Hospital. He had been in ill health for one year.
He was born on January 5, 1936, in Monon, the son of Roy G. and Matilda M. Woosley Reed.
He was a lifetime member of the community. He had worked at the former Monon Stone Quarry, and was a farmer.
Surviving are a companion, Naomi Kopka of Monon; sons, Donald (Misty) Reed of Monticello and Emmitt Reed, Jr. of Monon; brothers, Bill Reed and Edwin Reed, both of Monon, and Michael F. Reed of Michigan City; sisters Marian Monnett of Monon and Frances Aguirre of Gautier, Miss.; and one grandchild.
Two sisters and a brother are deceased.
Services were Friday at Kellogg Funeral Home with Rev. David Kopka officiating.
Burial was in Chapel Cemetery.
Carol M. Reifel
February 10, 1942 - January 21, 2002
Carol M. Reifel, 59, of Lafayette, died Monday, January 21, 2002 at Heritage Healthcare Center in West Lafayette.
She was born in Monon February 10, 1942. She married Wayne Redinbo in March 1959. He died in 1974. She then married Thomas Reifel in 1977. He survives.
She co-owned Wayne's Radiator Shop in Lafayette. She also worked at Lafayette Venetian Blind for nine years.
She was a member of the Lamp Lighters Extension Homemakers Club in Fowler.
Also surviving are daughters Candy (Bruce) Fieleke of Brookston, Windy (Timothy) Lavelle and Sandy (David) Benner, both of Fowler, and Brandy (Glenn) Ladd of Lafayette; sisters, Charlotte Kehrt of Goodland and Elizabeth (Gene) Robinson of Rochester; a brother, John (Teri) Raines of Monticello and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday at the Windler Funeral Home, Fowler.
Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
Memorials may be made to the Benton County Cancer Association.
Marie Reitz
April 24, 1910 - December 27, 2002
Marie Reitz, 92, of Buffalo, died December 27, 2002, at White County Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Russia on April 24, 1910, to Andrew and Anna Webber Kindsvather. She moved to Chicago when she was 3 years old. She married Peter J. Reitz on May 23, 1928, in Chicago, and the couple was married for 65 years before he died on March 9, 1993.
Surviving are sons, Peter A. (Joyce) Reitz of Buffalo and James P. (Patricia) Reitz of Wabasha, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
A sister, Molly Miller, a brother, George Kindsvather; two step-sons; and two grandchildren are deceased.
Funeral services were at Cedar Park Funeral Home, Calumet Park, Ill., with Pastor Michael D. Udoekona officiating.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Beecher Reynolds
August 30, 1982 - August 7, 2002
Beecher Blu Reyno1ds, 19, of Battle Ground died Wednesday, August 7, 2OO2 at his home.
He was born in Lafayette on August 30, 1982, to Dennis and Dora Grace Reynolds.
He was a 2001 graduate of Harrison High School.
He worked at McDonald's Restaurant in Elston.
He enjoyed music and drawing.
Survivors include his parents, of Battle Ground; a brother, Shawn Reynolds of West Lafayette; and grandmothers, Marie Spear of Brookston and Geneva Reynolds of Lafayette.
His two grandfathers, a great-grandfather and a great-grandmother are deceased.
Funeral services were August 10th at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston with Shannon Toye officiating. Burial was at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
Memorials may be made to Brookston Church of Christ, or the charity of one's choice.
R. Jack Reynolds
December 23, 1923 - September 21, 2002
R. Jack Reynolds, 78, Brookston, died at his home on Saturday, September 21, 2002, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Jefferson Township in Carroll County to Dewey and Esther Roth Reynolds on December 23, 1923.
He married Helen Redding in Gulfport Miss., on May 30, 1943. She survives.
He was a 1942 graduate of Monticello High School.
He served in World War II in the 8th Air Force, 466th Bomb group from January 1943 to September 1945. He was a flight engineer and tail gunner of crew #726 of the "Glad to See Ya" B-24 bomber and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He also received a "Special Diploma' from the French government for his contribution to the liberation of France.
He worked many years as a production manager in Monticello and Delphi and was owner and operator for 17 years of For-Rest Lake Campground. He retired in 1986.
He was a lifetime member and former chaplain of the Brookston Optimist Club.
He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed baking pancakes for the Homeowners Association, a good game of euchre and deer hunting with his sons mid grandchildren.
He was a member of the Brookston Federated Church. Where he served as Sunday school superintendent and deacon for many years.
He was also a member of North Port Christian Church in North Port, Fla., where he and his wife spent winter months and served as a deacon and trustee there.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, Robert B. "Bruce" (Diann) Reynolds, Forrest N. "Nick" (Linda) Reynolds and James L. "Jim" (Connie) Reynolds all of Brookston, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A son, Terry Lee Reynolds, and a sister Marie preceded him in death.
The funeral service was this morning (Wednesday) at Hartzler Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating.
Burial was in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery
with a military service by the Chalmers American Legion.
