Lavonna Wangler
Lavonna Mae Wangler, 81, of Evansville, died Monday, February 11, 2002, at her home.
She was a beautician and she owned and operated Lavon's Hairstyling Salon on Morgan Ave., for 40 years. She retired in 1997. She was a member of the Intercontinental Church of God. Her husband, William, died on Jan. 29, 2000.
She is survived by one son, William R. III of Evansville; two daughters, Darleen V. Foster of Evansville and Frieda Mae Burns of Evansville; 6 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Services for Lavonna will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Simpson Meyer Funeral Home, Granvel Ruddell officiating, with burial in James Parker Cemetery
in Hatfield, Ind.
Visitation will be form 2 to 8 p.m. today at Simpson Meyer Funeral Home.
Jessie Aldrich
MOUNT VERNON - Jessie Lee Aldrich, 91, died Monday, February 11, 2002, at Mount Vernon Rehabilitation Center.
Jessie was one of the original members of the Kitcheneers Home Extension Club. She was a farmer's wife and a seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert G. Aldrich, in 1962, after 20 years of marriage.
Jessie had formerly attended Bethesda General Baptist Church at Savah. She enjoyed raising Boston Terrier dogs.
Survivors are a son, Spencer Lee Aldrich of Mount Vernon; her daughter-in-law, Sue Aldrich of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
Private graveside services will be at a later date, the Reverend Steve Forister officiating, burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.
There will be no visitation at Alexander West Chapel.
Donations may be made to Bethesda General Baptist Church of Savah.
Viola Baker
BOONVILLE - Viola Baker was born Viola Nixon on January, 2, 1921, in Boonville and departed this life on February 10, 2002, in Coppell, Texas. Active in church work throughout her life, she taught children's Sunday school class, Bible school, church camps and participated in the church choir at the church she was attending. Viola was a leader of a Girl Scout Troop in Boonville for several years. She is a charter associate member of Ashburn United Methodist church in Ashburn, Va., transferring her membership from Boonville United Methodist Church. She has also been a member of Bible Center Cathedral in Evansville since 1948. Most recently she attended Church of the Apostles in Coppell, Texas.
Viola founded Baker's Rest Haven in Boonville in 1958, where she loved and cared for your loved ones throughout the Tri-State area for many years. Retired in August of 1985, she lived her last few years in Coppell, Texas, with her daughter, Sonnetta, requiring care and assistance with vision and other health concerns. She lost her beloved husband, Oliver, with final plans still pending for the home's new facility, which was completed in December 1966, on the present site, located on E. North Street.
Mrs. Baker is a 1964 graduate of Evansville School of Nursing, held a degree in nursing from the University of Kentucky (1969) and trained at Welborn Hospital in Evansville. She has been a member of the Chandler Rebekah Acme Lodge 305 since 1954.
Viola is survived by her son, Harold Baker of Moore Haven, Fla.; daughters, Clydena Limp of Leigh High, Fla., and Sonnetta Palmer of Coppell, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday from Bible Center Cathedral, with Revs. A.D. Van Hoose and Rick Van Hoose officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wed. at Koehler Funeral Home Perigo Chapel, 7022 Heim Road, Chandler, Ind., and on Thurs. from 9 a.m. until funeral time at the church. Burial will be at Hinman Pleasant Hill Cemetery
in Boonville. The Rebekah Acme Lodge 305 will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Wed. at the funeral home in Chandler.
Geneva Bayer
HUNTINGBURG - Geneva York Bayer, born May 20, 1927, to William and Nina Denton, went to be with the Lord on February 9, 2002.
Mrs. Bayer became the loving wife of Jacob L. Bayer on September 16, 1944, and is the mother of four beloved children, Brenda, wife of Richard Lubbehusen, Rachel, wife of Kenneth Meyers, Sarah, wife of Brett James and a son, Phillip J. Bayer. She is survived by her brother, Truman Denton and was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Gladys Denton, James Denton, Billy Denton, Bobby Denton, Coleman Denton and LaVerne Leland. Mrs. Bayer had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored.
Mrs. Bayer lived a holy life and loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart. She was a member of the Contenders of the Faith Holiness Church in Otwell, Indiana. Her family invites friends and relatives to celebrate her home-going at a service on Wednesday, February 13, at 2 p.m. EST at the Birdseye Pentecostal Church in Birdseye, Indiana.
Visitation will be held at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, today, February 12, from 4 to 9 p.m. EST.
Memorial contributions may be made to God's Bible School & College in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Issac Fawks
JASPER - Issac D. Fawks, 21, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, near Washington, Ind., of injuries from an automobile accident.
He worked for Bartley Farm's in Ireland.
Surviving are his parents, Mike and Judy Fawks; two sisters, Ambra Nicole and La Kiegha Mikal La Nae; and grandparents.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, burial in Fairview Cemetery, with military rites.
Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. at Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel.
Mamie Garland
HUNTINGBURG - Mamie L. Garland, 70, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Northwood Good Samaritan Center in Jasper.
She had been a seamstress.
Surviving are her husband, James F.; two daughters, Marjorie E. Basham and Nancy M. Posey; three brothers, Russell, Victor and Howard Eckert; three sisters, Sarah Jeffries, Mabel Houchin and Nellie Resenbeck; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Wednesday at Nass & Son Funeral Home, burial in Fairmont Cemetery.

Mary Harder
JASPER - Mary "Annie" (Kelley) Harder, 85, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center.
Surviving are her husband, William; two sons, James and Dave; two brothers, Howard and Bernard Kelley; and five grandchildren.

Alfred Hawkins
VINCENNES - Alfred H. Hawkins, 90, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital.
He retired from the Pennsylvania Conrail Railroad.
Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Dombrosky; three sons, David, Robert and Roger; a sister, Dorothy McClure; and 14 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Wednesday at New Heart Christian Church, burial in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery.

Jewell Jenkins
HUNTINGBURG - Jewell K. Jenkins, 74, of St. Louis, formerly of Huntingburg, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Forest Park Hospital in St. Louis.
She was a retired restaurant worker.
Surviving are two daughters, Marilyn Johnson and Debra Rhyne; four sons, Ronald, James, Timothy and Terry; a sister, Rosemary Freson; two brothers, Jerry and Robert Chappell; and 16 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. EST Thursday at Nass & Son Funeral Home, burial in Fairmont Cemetery.

Leland Leigh
MOUNT VERNON - Leland Floyd Leigh, 78, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at New Harmonie Health Care. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Wadesville VFW. He was a maintenance foreman for ADM Milling Co., retiring in 1988 after 29 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Keith Overton.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Jean Leigh of Mount Vernon; 1 daughter, Leann Cox of Wadesville, Ind.; 1 son, Steven E. Overton of Mount Vernon; 2 brothers, Kenneth and C.L. Leigh, both of Sallisaw, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Curt Overton, Levi and Clint Cox, Adrienne and Andy Overton and Nikki and Shelley Wilborn; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2002, at Austin Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, with burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery
in Mount Vernon, with military rites. Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. today, February 12, at the funeral home.
