Millard H. 'Mick' Robertson
July 18, 1915 - September 16, 1992
Millard H. "Mick" Robertson, 77, Brookston, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Murdock Manor, Lafayette, where he had been a patient since Dec. 31, 1990. He had been in failing health for the last three years.
He was born July 18, 1915, to Charles and Jennie Haggard Robertson, in White County.
He worked for 22 years for Prairie Telephone Co. in Brookston, before retiring in 1972. For 19 years he was a Brookston volunteer fireman.
He served as an election sheriff for the Republican party in Prairie Township Precinct No.1 for many years.
Survivors include Frances Schwartz, with whom he lived; a son, Kenneth, Rt.1, Battle Ground; a stepson, Joseph Schwartz, Brookston, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Daniel (Juanita) Gardiner, Brookston; a twin brother, Willard "Mike" of Lafayette; and two grandchildren. Four brothers and five sisters are deceased.
The funeral was Friday in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, the Rev. Loren Shuman officiating.
Burial was in Spring Creek Cemetery, northeast of Brookston.
Lorna Robey
June 28, 1921 - January 13, 2003
Lorna Marie Hintzman Robey, 81 of Monticello, a former Reynolds resident, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. She had been in failing health for two years and was a resident of Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare.
She was born on June 28, 1921, in Reynolds, to Albert and Ester Bardoner Hintzman. She married Paul R. Robey on February 22, 1948, at St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds. He died on Jan. 2, 1992.
She was a 1940 graduate of Chalmers High School.
She was a retired cook who was employed at several White County restaurants.
She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Reynolds, where she was active with the Lutheran Missionary League, St. James Ladies Aid and the Quilting Circle.
Surviving are daughters, Myrtle (Jim) Collins, of Brookston and Paula (Mike) Brattin of Weston, Fla.; sons, Joe (Maria) Robey of Shorewood, Ill., and Albert (Janet) Robey of Bedford, Va.; brother, Harold (Neoma) Hintzman of Monticello; sisters, Norma Miller and Deloris Snowberger, both of Chalmers, and Yelma (Stephen) Freed of Plymouth; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services were at St. James Lutheran Church with Rev. Charles Blakey officiating.
Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston was in charge.
Burial was at St James Lutheran Cemetery, Reynolds.
Memorials may be made to the Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare activities fund, County Council on Aging or Monticello Dialysis Center.
Mary Rachel Ferguson Robinson
February 20, 1895 - April 13, 1994
Mary Rachel Ferguson Robinson, 99, formerly of Rt. I, Battle Ground, died Wednesday, April 13, in Home Hospital Extended Care Unit, Lafayette. She was admitted there two years ago.
She was born on Feb. 20, 1895 in Prairie Township, White County, to Edgar m Ferguson and Clara Russell. She married Clarence O. Robinson on March 19, 1917 in Monticello. He died May 1, 1981.
She was a homemaker and former teacher and lived in the Brookston area all her life. Her father served as trustee of Prairie Town ship from 1914-1917.
She graduated from the Brookston Academy and attended Indiana Normal College in Danville for a summer term. She began teaching that fall at Gay School, 5 miles east of Brookston, She later taught the sixth grade at Brookston School before she married.
She and her husband lived on the Robinson family farm, homesteaded in 1856, southwest of Brookston.
She was a member of the Brookston United Methodist Church, the Ladies Elks of Lafayette, the New Ideal Club, and was past president of Brookston American Legion Auxiliary No.251.
Survivors include two sons, Robert G. of Brookston and Kean E. of Brookston; and three daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Barbara Joan) Schmidt of Niles, MI, Mrs. Donald (Marilyn June) Anderson of Crawfordsville, and Mrs. Paul (Meredith Ann) Cox of Indianapolis; one sister, Mrs. Alta Johnson of Lafayette; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jo Robinson Moore of Brookston, 23 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Three sons, two daughters, five brothers, three sisters, one grandson, and two great-grandsons are deceased.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 16, at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, the Rev. Bonnie Lieber officiated.
Burial was in IOOF Brookston Cemetery.
Robert J. Robinson
August 9, 1920 - January 17, 1991
Robert J. "Bob" Robinson, 70, 202 W. Main St., Delphi, was found dead of natural causes Thursday, Jan. 17, in his home.
He was born Aug. 9, 1920, to Claude and Irene Nelson Robinson, in Brookston. He was a bachelor.
He moved from Chicago to Delphi, over 25 years ago. He was a graduate of Battle Ground High School and Butler University and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was employed at Metzger Lumber Co. until he retired. He previously was manager of the former Bowman Fish House in West Delphi, and an office manager in the automotive division of Kemper Insurance Co. in Chicago and New Jersey. He was a member of Delphi American Legion Post No. 75.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Laura McDaniel, Noblesville and a brother, Richard W., Beech Grove.
The funeral was Monday in the Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, the Rev. Richard L. Pettys officiating.
Thomas E. "Tom" Rodehan
April 10, 1934 - October 19, 1998
Thomas E. "Tom" Rodehan. 64, 5271 Norway Rd., Monticello, died Monday, Oct. 19, at 9:50 p.m. in St. Elizabeth Healthcare Ctr., Delphi, N. He had been in failing health the last several months.
He was born April 10, 1934 in Earl Park, IN to George and Helen German Rodehan. He married Barbara Arnold on October 6, 1957 at the Sitka Baptist Church in rural White County. She survives.
He had been the Monon Township Trustee in Monon for 8 years, resigning form his office about 3 weeks ago. Tom had been a barber in the Monticello community for 31 years and in the Monon community for 12 years.
He and his wife were members of the Pike Creek Church of the Brethren. He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Lions club both of Monon, IN. Tom had also served in the Indiana National Guard for 8 years. He and his wife recently moved to Monticello from Monon.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Duane (DeLea) Hendress, Reynolds; 2 sons, Douglas of Monon and Chris of Remington; a brother, Ed Rodehan of Monticello; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
One sister and both parents are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 23, at 11:00 a.m, at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Inc., Monticello. Rev. William C. Kehlhofer will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Inc., 6368 E. U.S. 24, Monticello.
Burial will be Friday in the Monon Chapel Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Monon Civic Center.
Eliza L. Rogers
September 30, 1915 - July 8, 2000
Eliza L. Rogers, 84, of Monon, died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at 10:50 a.m. in Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare. She had been a patient at the facility for two years.
She was born Sept. 30, 1915, to John and Harriet Bengston Miller, in Fowler. She was married Jan. 14, 1935, to David Rogers, in Rensselaer. He died Sept. 30, 1970.
She was a 1934 graduate of Francesville High School.
She was a homemaker and worked as a cook at the Monon schools for several years and at RCA in Monticello, retiring after 10 years.
She was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge in Wolcott, the Rebecca Lodge in Monon and the Town & Country Home Economics Club in Monon.
She was a member of the Monon First Baptist Church and the Ann Seany Missionary Circle
She is survived by sons, John (Leona) Rogers of Monon, Richard (Carolyn) Rogers of Brookston and Kenny (Edie) Rogers of Lafayette; brother, George Miller of Medaryville; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A brother and three sisters are deceased.
Funeral service was Tuesday at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with the Rev. Steve Birch officiating.
Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery
in Monen.
Memorials may be made to the Monon First Baptist Church or the Monon Public Library.
Golda Rogers
June 19, 1892 - January 16, 1988
Golda Scott Rogers, 95, formerly of Brookston died Saturday, Jan. 16, in Indiana Veterans Home at West Lafayette where she had resided since August 1985.
She was born June 19, 1892, in White County to Ed and Tina Ford Darnell Scott. She was married Aug. 1,1917 to Vida Clay Rogers in Monticello. He. died Dec. 24, 1975. The couple owned and operated the former Rogers Clothing Store in Brookston for 42 years.
She was a member of, the Brookston United Methodist Church and the Wea Lea Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution at Monticello.
Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Vida Tillinan of West Palm Beach, Florida.
Three brothers and one sister are deceased.
A D.A.R. memorial service was held during calling hours Monday evening at the Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston. Services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Burial was in the Brookston IOOF Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Brookston United Methodist Church.
Max E. Rogers
June 21, 1929 - May 17, 1999
Max E. Rogers, 69, Lafayette. died Monday, May 17, at 6:35 a.m. at his residence.
Mr. Rogers worked for and managed the Attica IGA grocery store for 12 years, retiring December 1994. He formerly had worked for A&P grocery stores for 26 years.
Born June 21, 1929, in Monon, he graduated from Monon High School in 1947. He lived in Attica for 10 years, Indianapolis and Pennsylvania, before moving to Lafayette seven months ago.
He married Martha McBee, April 16, 1950, in Frankfort and she survives.
He was a member of the Attica Christian Church and of the American Legion Post 52 of Attica. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving during peacetime.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Marc Rogers of Hanover, Pa.; four daughters, Mrs. Bill (Denita) Truscott of Beaverton, Ore., Mrs. Don (Charla) Hutchinson of Veederburg, Mrs. Jonathan (Lechia) Stone of San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. Tony (Cindy) Underhill of Lafayette; a brother, Richard Rogers of Indianapolis and a sister, Mary Kingma of Rensselaer.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Cross; and a brother, Wilford.
Services were Thursday, May 20, at Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. Loren Hetrick officiating. Interment was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
