Ziza Maude Rogers

May 9, 1908 - April 29, 1992
Ziza Maude Rogers, 83, R.5, Monticello, died unexpectedly Wednesday. April 29, in the emergency room at Clinton Co. Hospital.

She was born May 9, 1908, to Jess and Armilda Ann James Randels, in Colfax. She was married in 1922, to Walter Rogers, who died Aug. 19, 1982.

She lived most of her life in Frankfort and Monticello. She was a homemaker and craft designer.

Survivors include a daughter Dorothy L. Duncan, Brookston, three sisters, Martha Higinbotham, Frankfort, Esther Gibbs, California and Nina Southwick, Florida; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister are deceased.

The funeral was Sunday, Frye Funeral Home, Frankford with the Rev. Earl Roustio officiating.

Burial was in Bunnell Cemetery, Frankfort.

Rupert P. "Rosey" Rosenbaum

September 10, 1927 - March 13, 1999
Rupert P. "Rosey" Rosenbaum 71, of Parker Ave., South Bend, died Saturday. March 13, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend

He was born Sept 10, 1927, to Ruth (Prow) and William Rosenbaum, in Campbellsburg, Ind. Both preceded him in death. He was married Dec. 28, 1952, to Helen Mason, in Bremen, and she preceded him in death, Oct. 7, 1966

Survivors are two daughters, Sandra Carmichael and her husband, Scott of Winona Lake, Ind.; Nancy Bodden and her husband. John of Grand Cayman Island, five grandchildren, Shawn and Ryan Carmichael and Aubrey, Amanda and Kanza Rose Bodden and by a sister, Jeannine Terry and her husband Glen of Georgetown, Texas.

He was prccedcd in death by a granddaughter, Sarah Rose Carmichael.

Mr. Rosenbaum was a retired sales manager for Fruehauf Trucking in South Bend. He was a member of Community Congregational Church, South Bend. He was a member and past master of Council Oak Lodge #745 F&AM having received his award of gold for 50 years of membership. He was a 50 year member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend. He was a member of the Orak Shrine of Michigan City, Ind. and a member of the Past Masters Association of the Orak Shrine and was a member of the Luxedo Patrol for Shriners van stationed in South Bend. He was a member of the South Bend Shrine Club and the Michigan City Court #43 Royal Order of Jesters. He was a veteran of WW II Occupation Forces stationed in Japan and was a member of the American Legion in Monon, and the V.F.W. Post #624 in Roseland, Indiana.

Services were today, Wednesday, Mary 17 in the Community Congregational Church, South Bend, with Rev. David Carlson conducting the services.

Entombment will be in the All Faiths Mausoleum at Riverview Cemetery.

The Welsheimer Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Valley of Promise, 430 North Main St.. South Bend, Ind. 46601.

Katherine Louise Rosenkranz

April 26, 1908 - January 11, 2003
Katherine Louise Rosenkranz, 94, of Parkview Haven, in Francesville, died Saturday, January 11, 2003, in Jasper County Hospital, Rensselaer. She had been in declining health the past few years.

She was born April 26, 1908, in Pulaski County. She was raised in Francesville, and educated in Jasper County public schools. She lived in Rensselaer and Cape Coral, Florida for several years.

She married George Rosenkranz on July 2, 1930, in Chicago. He died October 22, 1968.

She was the owner and operator of the Silver Grill in Rensselaer from 1945 to 1953. She worked as the bookkeeper for Al Pfledderer Allis Chalmers in Rensselaer from 1953 to 1958 and for Massey Ferguson Implement from 1969 to 1972.

She was a charter member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Rensselaer and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Coral, Florida.

Surviving are two sons, Robert "Bob" (Jean) Rosenkranz of Cottonwood, Arizona, Ralph George (Judy) Rosenkranz of Cape Coral; six sisters, Marie Spath, Clara LaHue, Donna (Boyd) Faris of Rensselaer, Alice (Len) Kopka all of Francesville, Anna Henzler of Rensselaer, and Jeanette (William) Zaring of Monticello, and four brothers; Raymond Pfledderer of Crown Point, Adam (Louise) Pfledderer, Robert "Bob" (Norma) Pfledderer and Leslie (Rosie) Pfledderer, all of Francesville.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. CST on Saturday, January 17 [i.e., 18] 2003 at Steinke Funeral Home in Rensselaer. Burial will be in St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, Rensselaer.

John E. Ross

May 30, 1917 - October 20, 1988
John E. Ross, 71, of 8730 N. County Road 100 W., West Lafayette, was found dead Thursday, Oct. 20, in the home of Lewis H. McKay at 9333 N. County Road 100 W., West Lafayette.

He was born May 30, 1917 in Tippecanoe County and was raised in the Ash Grove area, where he lived most of his life.

Mr. Ross was employed for several years at the former Farm Bureau Co-Op poultry farm in Lafayette, retiring in 1984.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post 11; and 40 and 8, Lafayette Voiture 364.

He was also a member of the former Liberty Chapel Church at Ash Grove and Eagles Lodge 347.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Donola Brown, Brookston; and one brother Kenneth M. Ross, Lafayette. -

A brother, Francis W. Ross preceded in death.

Service was Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, with the Rev. Duncan MacNab officiating. There were military graveside rites at Liberty Chapel Cemetery, Ash Grove.

Dean A. Roth

June 2, 1948 - January 17, 2000
Dean A. Roth, 51, Monticello, died Monday, Jan. 17, at White County Memorial Hospital, Monticello.

He was born June 2, 1948, to Everett and Dorothy Mitchell Roth in White County He was married Nov. 16, 1991, to Janie Marie Winner, in Monticello and she survives.

He lived in White County all his life and was a 1966 graduate of Monticello High School. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1966 to 1972. He was a member of the Monticello Police Department from 1972-1980.

He also was an independent Real Estate Broker.

He was a member of the Monticello Christian Church, Monticello AmVet, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge, Monticello Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and the Shriners Murat Temple, Indianapolis.

He was a member of the Carpenters Local in Lafayette, White Co. Shrine Club and a union carpenter until 1998.

He was the construction manager for the new White Co. Sheriff's Department and the superintendent of construction of Twin Lakes Schools after the 1974 tornado.

He is survived by his wife; stepdaughter, Susan Clark, Monticello; step-sons, Brad Crisp and Brian and Donna Crisp, Monticello, nephews, Phillip Baker, Royal Center and Christopher Baker, Logansport; great-niece, Haley Baker, Royal Center; four step-granddaughters; five step-grandsons; and a step-great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Baker and a brother, Ronnie Roth.

Funeral service will be Thursday, at Monticello Christian Church with the Rev. Bill Riggs officiating. Visitation will Wednesday, 4 to 8 p.m. at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home with Masonic service at 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Charles E. Rotruck

September 19, 1920 - June 1, 2002
Charles E. Rotruck, 81, of Buffalo community died Saturday, June 1, 2002 at his residence. He had been ill for six years.

He was born on September 19, 1920 in White County, the son of Merle and Pearl Sandberg Rotruck. He married Ruth Speicher on October 17, 1942 in Medford, Oregon. She survives.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942 — 46 in the South Pacific with the 353rd Army Engineers. He lived in the community for most of his life and was a 1939 graduate of Buffalo High School.

He was a farmer for 30 years and sold Kendall Motor Oil for 30 years, and was retired from both.

He was a member of the Buffalo Church of the Brethren.

He was a member of American Legion Post 81 of Monticello.

Surviving with his wife are a daughter Shirley Frybort of Cicero, IN; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

One son is deceased.

Graveside services were held at the Buffalo Cemetery on Monday with Rev. James Facklam officiating. Kellogg Funeral Home was in charge.

Memorials may be made to Buffalo Church of the Brethren.

Donald W. Rowe

July 22, 1927 - September 29, 1990
Donald W. Rowe, 63, 3605 Hickory Lane, Lafayette. died Saturday, Sept. 29, at 8:55 p.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center. He had been battling liver cancer the past year.

He was born July 22, 1927 in Hammond. At an early age he moved to Brookston and graduated from Brookston High School in 1945. He served in the Navy during World War II.

Mr. Rowe was married Aug. 5, 1950, to Marilyn A. Young in Lafayette. They owned Gravely Lawn and Garden shop since 1958. He also drove a bus for the Lafayette School Corp. for 20 years.

An avid woodworker, Mr. Rowe enjoyed farming and flying and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He also was a member of American Legion 251 at Brookston and Libanus Masonic Lodge 154 of Monticello.

Surviving with his wife are a son, John Rowe, West Point; a daughter, Mrs. John (Nancy) Spitznagle, Dayton; his mother, Johanna Rowe, Brookston; and two sisters, Mrs. Lester (Marjorie) Gray, Monticello and Susan Thomson of Hialeah, Fla., 5 grandchildren, Marc, Kyle and Autumn Rowe, Ross and Elaine Spitznagle.

The service was in Hippensteel Chapel Tuesday, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Virginia M. Nead. Interment was in Tippecanoe Memory.

Johanna M. Rowe

July 31, 1902 - March 1, 1991
Johanna M. Rowe, 88, formerly of Brookston, died Friday March 1, at Indiana Veteran's Home, West Lafayette.

She was born July 31; 1902, to William Herman and Ida Rost Friedrich, in Dyer. She was married June 24, 1925, to Gilbert (Gib) Rowe, in Dyer. He died July 14, 1970.

She was a seamstress who began sewing at age 11. She attended Hammond Business College and Chicago Dress Making School.

Since 1934, she had lived in Brookston and was a member of Brookston American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lester (Marjorie) Gray, R.5, Monticello and Mrs. Susan Thomson, Hialeah, Fla.; a daughter-in law, Mrs. Marilyn Rowe, Lafayette; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. One son, two brothers and two sisters are deceased.

The funeral was Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston. Burial was in Brookston IOOF Cemetery.

John David Rowe

December 21, 1906 - April 3, 1992
John David Rowe, 85, 1106 Grace Court, Monticello, died Friday, April 3, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette.

He was born Dec. 21, 1906, near Otterbein in Benton County, to John and Amelia Marie Pfeiffer Rowe. He was married June 24, 1934, to Mary Kathryn Minch, who survives.

He moved from Chicago, in April 1972, to Monticello.

He attended Otterbein School through his sophomore year and graduated from Chalmers High School in 1926.

He joined S.S. Kresge in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1928. He was an assistant manager at Detroit; Dunkirk, N.Y.; Olean, N.Y.; Scranton, Pa.; and Dayton, Ohio. He joined Sears Roebuck Co. in Detroit, Mich., in 1939, and transferred to Chicago in 1944. He was national retail sales manager of office, photo, stationary, books and school supplies. In 1953, he became the national retail sales manager of ladies lingerie and ladies hosiery. He retired from Sears, July 1, 1969.

He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church.

Survivors also include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Jane Cordill, Elmira, N.Y.; two sons, L. John C., Bothell, Wash. and M. David M., West Lafayette; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Roadruck, Brookston; and five grandchildren. A brother is deceased.

A memorial service was conducted Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston with the Rev. Gene Ansell officiating.

Inurnment was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
