Charles Schuette

March 15, 1944 - December 6, 2000
Charles "Chuck" Schuette, 56, a former Wolcott resident died Wednesday, December 6, 2000 at Jasper County Hospital, Rensselaer. He had been ill for three weeks.

He was born in Jasper County on March 15, 1944 to Clarence and Clara Miller Schuette. He was married to Diane Faker.

He was a graduate of Goodland High School.

He had lived in Goodland and the Brook area and moved to Wolcott in 1977.

He was the manager of Standard Oil Fertilizer in Wolcott for 25 years.

He was a member of the Wolcott Town Council for 12 years. He was a member of the White County Zoning Appeals Board and the White County Area Plan Commission.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Remington.

He is survived by daughters; Mrs. Cory (Nikki) Melchi of Brookston and Heidi Schuette of Terre Haute: and two brothers David Schuette of Hagerstown and Richard Schuette of Goodland. A sister Jane, is deceased.

A funeral Mass was celebrate Sunday at Sacred Heart Church, Remington with the Rev. Thomas Fox officiating. Foster Funeral Home was in charge of the services.

Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Goodland.

Memorials may be made to White County 4-H.

Otto E. Schultz

May 11, 1903 - September 22, 1998
Otto E. Schultz, 95, Monon, died Tuesday Sept. 22, 1998, at his residence.

He was born in Rensselaer on May 11, 1903, to August Charles and Helena Schultz Schultz. He married Anna Elizabeth Bowers in Lowell on Nov. 3, 1935. She died Oct. 14, 1987.

He was a farmer all of his life

He had lived in the community for 50 years.

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Reynolds.

He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Woodcock of Monon; a son, Roland Otto of Rensselaer a brother, Erick of Rensselaer; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

A son, six brothers and a sister are deceased

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept.26, in St. James Lutheran Church; Reynolds, with the Rev. Stephen E. Koenig officiating. Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, was in charge.

Burial was in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Reynolds.

Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church or Monon First Responders.

Della Morgan Schwartz

March 16, 1897 - April 13, 1989
Della Morgan Schwartz, 92, formerly of 107 N. Wood St., Brookston, died Thursday, April 13 at 2:10 p.m. in St. Elizabeth's Healthcare Center, Delphi She had been a resident there two years.

She was born March 16, 1897 to Adam and Anna Hogue Morgan, in Indianapolis. and married Aug. 29, 1916 to Frank F. Schwartz Sr., who died June 1, 1988.

She was a homemaker and spent most of her life in the Brookston area. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge and a past member of Noble Grand Club.

Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. Ruth Robertson, Mrs. Carol Davis, and Mrs. Betty Monnett, all of Brookston, Mrs. Jean Monnett, Monticello and Mrs. Jan Morton, Orlando, Fla.; one son, Bob; Delphi; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. One son and two brothers are deceased.

Services were conducted Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.

Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Brookston.

Ernest W. Schwartz

February 7, 1896 - February 14, 1988
Ernest W. Schwartz, 92, Brookston, died at 3:47 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, in Home Hospital in Lafayette. He had been in failing health for the past six months.

Born Feb. 7, 1896, in Tippecanoe County, he lived on a farm at R.2, Brookston, from 1904 until moving into town in Oct. 1983. He retired from farming in 1968.

Mr. Schwartz raised ponies and was treasurer of the Spring Creek Cemetery Board for many years.

Surviving is a brother, Frank Schwartz of Brookston.

Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. A sister preceded in death.

Service was Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston. The Rev. Duncan MacNab officiated. Interment was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.

Frances M. Schwartz

April 23, 1927 - August 5, 2002
Frances M. Schwartz, 75, of Brookston died Monday, August 5, 2002, at Home Hospital, Lafayette. She had been ill for two years, and hospitalized since July 22.

She was born in Michigan on April 23, 1927, to Joseph and Audra Campbell Brown.

She was a 1945 graduate of Delphi High School.

She retired in 1980 after 12 years employment with Prairie Telephone of Brookston and Central Indiana Telephone of Battle Ground. She also was a housekeeper for Warren North at Green Ridge Farm, Brookston, from 1972-88.

She was a member of Brookston Federated Church.

Survivors include a son, Joseph (Jana) Schwartz of Brookston; a daughter Juanita (Daniel) Gardiner of Brookston; a sister, Sue (John) Fesler of Brookston; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A companion, Mick Robertson, is deceased.

Funeral services were August 8th at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating.

Burial was in Spring Creek Cemetery, northeast of Brookston.

Memorials may be made to Brookston Federated Church.

Geneva Ussery Schwartz

unknown - May 16, 1991
Geneva "Jean" Ussery Schwartz. 63, formerly of Brookston, and Buck Creek; died Thursday, May 16, in her home at Tulare, California.

She was born to Ira and Bessie Ussery Long, in West Buro, Mo. She was married in 1957, to Frank F. Schwartz Jr. who died Jan. 19, 1971.

She was a 1946 graduate from Exeter Union High School in California.

She had been a registered nurse since 1957, and worked at Home Hospital before returning to California in 1980.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Exeter, Calif.

Surviving with the mother are one stepson, Joseph W. Schwartz, Brookston; one foster son, Richard Schwartz, Lafayette; one step daughter, Mrs. Juanita Gardiner, Brookston; one foster daughter, Sharon Birge, Mulberry; several nieces and nephews; and seven grandchildren. Two sisters are deceased.

Graveside services were today at Spring Creek Cemetery northeast of Brookston. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, was in charge of the service.

Fred Scifert

October 8, 1920 - February 6, 1993
Fred Scifert, 72, Mulberry, died Saturday, Feb. 6, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He was ill for several years and seriously ill for two months.

He was born Oct. 8, 1920, to Frank and Verne Garvin Scifert, in Wolcott. He was married in 1942 to Jeanette Bissonnette.

He lived east of Wolcott, on a farm, for several years. He also lived in Florida, Reynolds and Monticello, for a while before moving to Mulberry 1½ years ago.

He graduated in 1938 from Wolcott High School and served in the Army during World War II.

He worked at Alcoa and Ross Gear, both in Lafayette.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Survivors include three sons; Kerry, Huntsville, Alabama; Denny, Arab, Alabama and Lon, Mulberry; two daughters: Michell, Gary and Wanda Mitchell, Frankfort; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Dwight, Frederick, Mich.; and three sisters; Mrs. James (Stella) Tarter, Chalmers; Mrs. Leone Hutson, Brookston and Mrs. Lorene Williams, Brookston. A son is deceased.

The funeral was Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home, Wolcott, with Rev. Tim Alkire officiating.

military graveside rites were conducted at Meadow Lake Cemetery near Wolcott.

David E. Scott Sr.

August 8, 1945 - November 22, 2001
David E. Scott Sr., 56, Monticello, died Thursday, Nov. 22, at 5:25 p.m. in White County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 8, 1945, to Charles and Daisy Scroggins Scott, in Jerseyville, Ill. He was married Sept. 15, 2001, to Rebecca Behnke McKinney at Jerseyville, and she survives.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He lived in Monon most of his life and lived in Monticello since March of 2001.

He was a truck driver until he retired.

Other survivors include sons, David E. Scott Jr. of Jerseyville, Ill.; Jay E. Scott of Monticello and Jeremy C. Scott of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter, Rosanne M. (Kevin) Reynolds, Monticello; step daughter, Amanda McKinney, Monticello; step son, James McKinney, Monticello; brother, George Scott of Jerseyville; sisters, Mary Vail and Josephine Vail, both of Jerseyville; Eva Kershner of Sparda, ill.; Polly Evanch and Gail Scott of St. Cloud, Florida; step mother, Dorothy Scott of Bethalto, Ill.; and six grandchildren.

A sister and two brothers are deceased.

Services were Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello.

Burial with military rites was at Monon Chapel Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes. Association or the American Heart Association.
