George W. Segal

May 31, 1936 - November 21, 2000
George W. Segal, 64, of Reynolds, died Tuesday, November 21, 2000 at his home.

He was born on May 31, 1936, in Lafayette, the son of Arthur and Ila Gellenbeck Segal. He married Wilma Reuzenaer on October 26, 1979. in Reynolds. She survives.

He lived in Reynolds for 27 years after moving there from Grand Rapids, MI. He was a truck driver for Delta Trucking for several years and then drove for Brim Concrete for seven years. He retired in 1992.

He served in the U. S. Army.

He is survived by daughters Janet (Lyle) Fennema of Jenison, MI, Brenda Cheesman of Delphi, Vanessa (Rick) Baker of Monticello and Kelly (Raymond) Shropshire and Kimberly Fisher.

N. Jean Segal

November 11, 1927 - December 11, 2000
N. Jean Segal, 73, Reynolds, died Monday, Dec. 11, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

She was born Nov. 11, 1927, to Benjamin and Edith Osborn Fulks, in Florence, Colorado. She was married June 1, 1946, to Arthur Edgar Segal in Lafayette and he survives.

She lived in Reynolds and the Monticello area since 1964 coming from Lafayette.

She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School.

She and her husband started Segal Truck Sales and Trucking Co. in 1946, with locations in Lafayette, Frankfort and Indianapolis. She was secretary/treasurer of Segal Trucking co. in Monticello and Reynolds and Segal Sand and Gravel Inc. in Delphi.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose American Legion Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary and AMVETS Auxiliary, all in Monticello. She served as president of the VFW Auxiliary in Reynolds for 12 years.

Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Christina Kay (Larry W.) Roudebush, Reynolds; sons, David Lee (Constance J.) Segal, Monticello and Timothy Lowell (Jeanette L.) Segal Sr. of Reynolds; daughter-in-law, Letitia Ann Segal Barrett of Reynolds; sisters, Mrs. Eva (Arthur) Brickler and Mrs. Grace (Melvin) Cadle, both of Lafayette; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

A son, Edgar Lynn Segal and two brothers, Warren Fulks and Benjamin Fulks are deceased.

Funeral services were Friday at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Arthur Brickler officiating.

Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.

Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes. Association.

Donald Lee Seward

March 3, 1943 - January 3, 2000
Donald. Lee Seward., 56, of Monon died Monday. January 3, 2000 at his residence.

He was born March 3. 1943 in Monon the son of Golden and Cecila Owens Seward.

A construction worker for many years, he had lived in White County nearly all his life. He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He was a graduate of Monon High School.

He was a member of the Amvets of Monticello and the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Monticello.

He is survived by a son Donnie Lee Seward of Kissimmee, Fl., and a daughter Melissa Dickson also of Kissimmee, FL. Also surviving are two brothers, Bill Seward of Monticello and Tom Seward of Indianapolis and one sister Barb Anker of Lafayette. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He had five grandchildren.

There was no visitation and a direct cremation was held. Burial will be in Chapel Cemetery at a later date.

Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon was in charge.

Tom Seward

unknown - March 5, 2000
We have received word that Tom Seward of Indianapolis, formerly of Monon died on Sunday, March 5th in Indianapolis. Memorial service will be held later at the Buffalo Cemetery.

Tommy Joe Seward

March 22, 1941 - March 4, 2000
Tommy Joe Seward, 58, of Indianapolis and formerly of Monon, died March 4, 2000 in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following an illness of 6 months.

He was born March 22, 1941 in Monon the son of Golden W. and Cecila Owens Seward. He married Carol A. Huffman on March 1, 1969 in Monon.

A graduate at Monon high school he had worked as a custodian for Monon Corp. for 14 years, retiring in 1995. He also worked as custodian for Monon United Methodist and Monon 1st Baptist Churches for several years.

He moved to Indianapolis in 1995 where he was a member of Moose Lodge #500 in Speedway. He also was a member of the Monon Eagles and Motion United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife Carol and one son Jamie Joe (Jennifer) Seward of Phoenix, Arizona.

There was a direct cremation following his death and a Memorial Service will be held at the Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, IN at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 8th with Rev. William Kehlhofer officiating. There is no visitation.

Marc V. Seymore

February 8, 1960 - August 26, 2001
Marc V. Seymore, 41 of Reynolds. was pronounced dead on arrival at White County Memorial Hospital at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2001. He had been in ill health for the past 1 1/2 years.

He was born February 8, 1960 in Everett, Washington, the son of Dwight Seymore and Nancy Memmer. He graduated from Wenatchee High School in Wenatchee, Washington in 1978.

He served in the Army from 1979 - 1983 and received a temporary disability retired listing. In 1988 he received a certificate of retirement.

He married Kelly Harless on July 23, 1988 in Reynolds and she survives. He had 2 daughters, Sarah and Paige, both at home.

Other survivors include his parents Jim and Nancy Memmer Richards of Lacey, WA and Dwight Seymore of Derby, KS. His grandmother Dorothy Memmer and uncles Ron, Alan and Clark Memmer, all of Monticello and one sister, Pam (Chris) Page of Reno, NV.

He attended St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds, and was a member Monticello American Legion Post #81.

His grandfather Ray Memmer preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday with Pastor Merlen Wegener officiating. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Reynolds with military rites by Post #81 American Legion.

Friends may call at the Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston from 4-8 pm Wednesday and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetic Assoc. or St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds.

Virgia Shaw

June 24, 1908 - August 10, 2000
Virgia Shaw, 92, 2116 N. Jay St., Kokomo, died Thursday, August 10 at 9:30 a.m. at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home, Culver. She is the mother of former Monon resident, Mary Jane Hall.

She was born June 24, 1908, to George and Elva (Delk) Miller in Cando, N.D. April 8, 1928, she married Carl Shaw, in Marion. He died April 8, 1986.

She was a housewife and a mother. She was a member of Bethany Wesleyan Church, Kokom, Ind. and was a minister's wife of 40 years. She was also a Sunday school teacher and a church chorister. She was previously president and treasurer of the Ladies Missionary Society. She loved to crochet, quilt and read, especially her Bible.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Phyllis Shaw, Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Jane Hall, Winamac; three grandchildren, Ronald D. Shaw; Karen J. and Jay T. Hall and wife Peggy, two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two special friends who were influenced by her life, Luann (Hurlock) Ridenour and John Hurlock. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four brothers; two sisters and a son-in-law, John Hall.

Services were Monday at Bethany Wesleyan Church, Kokomo. The Rev. Donald McDowell officiated.

Burial was in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, Kokomo.

Memorial contributions may be given to Bethany Wesleyan Church of the Gideons.

Lora Swatts Sheehan

August 25, 1895 - February 15, 1991
Lora Swatts Sheehan, 95, formerly of Brookston, died Friday, Feb. 15, in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, where she had been a patient since Feb. 12th. She had been in failing health for the past year and had lived in Regency Place at Lafayette, since last March.

She was born Aug. 25, 1895, in Tippecanoe County and moved to Brookston in 1937. She married Joseph "Joe" Sheehan, Oct. 3, 1914, in Lafayette. He died June 27, 1967.

Mrs. Sheehan formerly attended Battle Ground United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three sons; Otto David Sheehan, Delphi; Richard Lee Sheehan, Rt. 1, Battle Ground and Lewis Earl Sheehan, Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Spear, Brookston, and Mrs. Russell (Juanita) McComb, Akron, Ind., and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Buck, Delphi.

She had 23 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. A son, 2 daughters, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a grandson preceded her in death. Services were Sunday, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Bill Romans officiating. Burial was in Pretty Prairie Cemetery.

James H. Sheets

January 13, 1921 - April 3, 1992
James H. Sheets, 71, formerly of R.2, Brookston, died April 3, in the Indiana Veterans Home, where he had been a patient for the past 11 days.

He was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Veedersburg, where he lived until moving to the Lafayette area in 1964.

Be married Patricia N. Meihls, Sept. 8, 1945, in Veedersburg. She died March 16, 1990.

He was a steam fitter at Purdue, from 1945 until retiring in 1988.

Mr. Sheets was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Veedersburg and American Legion Post 492 of West Lafayette.

Surviving are a son, Terry Sheets, Brookston; three daughters, Diane Blankenbaker, Danforth, Ill.; Mrs. James (Dixie) Robinson, Brookston and Ms Carolyn Sheets, West Lafayette. One brother, Kenneth Sheets, Veedersburg, also survives along with 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter and 3 brothers.

Services were Monday in the Hippensteel Funeral Chapel, Lafayette, with Rev. John Martz officiating. Burial was in Spring Vale Cemetery.

Stephanie Lynn Sheets

December 7, 1974 - January 28, 1995
Stephanie Lynn Sheets, 20, West Lafayette, died Saturday morning. Jan. 28, from injuries she sustained in an auto accident in Kentucky. near Madison, IN.

She was born in Urbana, IL, on Dec. 7, 1974 to Douglas and Hazel Woods Sheets. She was a sophomore at Hanover College. majoring in Spanish and she was on the dean's list.

She was salutatorian of the Benton Central High School class of 1993 and was the 1992 Homecoming Queen. In high school she was a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and a 10-year 4-H member, earning the Beef Achievement Award. She was named Rotary Outstanding Female Senior, and received the DAR Good Citizen and Academic Excellence awards.

She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church.

Surviving with her parents is a brother, Clint, a senior at Benton Central High School; grandparents, Grayce Spurgeon Woods and John and Marge Ralston Sheets, all of West Lafayette.

Her grandfather, Philip L. Woods, is deceased.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Otterbein United Methodist Church, Pastor Gary Hall officiated. Hanzler Funeral Home, Brookston was in charge of the arrangements.

Burial was in Montmorenci Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Stephanie L. Sheets Scholarship Fund.
