Joyce Skelton

ROCKPORT - Joyce E. Skelton, 77, died Monday, February 11, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.

She was a telephone operator for Indiana Bell Telephone Company for 20 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Rebecca Circle,the American Legion Auxiliary Post 254 and the Indiana Bell Pioneers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Skelton, in 1993.

Surviving are a brother, Carl Young Jr. of Rockport; a sister, Martel Garrett of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home Rockport, Ind., the Rev. Larry Van Camp officiating. Burial in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Rockport.

Visitation from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.

Vincent Walker

WASHINGTON - Vincent L. Walker, 75, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.

He was a carpenter.

Surviving are a daughter, Jill Walker; four sons, Steve, John, Paul and Mark; three sisters, Ruth Clark, Anne Beasley and Judy Fife; a brother, Bob; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. EST Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, burial in St. John's Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 5:30 p.m., at Ed Lee Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Washington Catholic School.

Cancilene Young

RICHLAND - Cancilene H. Young, 78, of Richland, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.

She was a homemaker, a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church and Mount Zion Quilters.

She was preceded in death by a son, Bill Young, in 1975; and a daughter, Linda Smith, in 2000.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Odie; two sons, Tom Young of Indianapolis and Phil Young of Richland; two daughters, Lois Roberts of Franklin, Ind., and Peggy Young of Richland; 13 grandchildren, Heath, Jamie, Jason, Dustin and Michael Young, Ryan and Justin Roberts, Jordan and Ashley Garrett, Danette Winn, Shannon Ring, Jeff Smith and Heather Nicoson; a stepgrandchild; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Richland, the Rev. Ernest Stair and Rev. Robb Massey officiating, burial in Mount Zion Cemetery in Richland.

Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Zion United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society or Multiple Sclerosis.

Irene Adams

Irene Adams, 65, of Evansville, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, February, 9, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center.

She was born December, 12, 1936.

Irene worked at Ellis Park. She was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America Local 561.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles; sister, Bertha; and brother, Eddie.

Survivors are a daughter, Jackie Glassco of Reed, Ky.; a son, Charles Wayne Hester of Poseyville, Ind.; a daughter, Cindy Gish of South Carolina; a son, Ronnie Adams of Evansville; a daughter, Pam Adams of Evansville; her mother, Rena Quick of Evansville; her brother, Bob Quick of Evansville; a sister, Nancy Jane McCallister of Evansville; grandchildren, Michael, Christopher and Lillian Glassco, Bobby, Jason and Charlie Hester, Lisa and April Adams, Amber Stuteville, Barbara Wade, Megan and Tempest Adams and Kyle, Kaylee and Kasia Wolfe; and great-grandchildren, Macayla and Maya Glassco, Najawa Pollard, Chandler Hester, Brianna, Brandon and Cameron Adams.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Alexander East Chapel, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel.

Gussie Fogle

Gussie Marie Fogle, 79, of Evansville, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Columbia Healthcare Center.

She worked for F.W. Means Co. for 25 years.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Cindy Parker; a stepson, Larry; a sister, Geneva Lahnam; two brothers, George and Bob Gipson; and four stepgrandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Maple View Cemetery in Marion, Ky. Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel is handling the private visitation.

Betty Kingsbury

Betty L. Kingsbury 74, of Evansville, passed away at Holiday Healthcare Center on Saturday, February 9, 2002. She was a member of Nobles Chapel Church and of the VFW 1114 Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jack H. Kingsbury Jr., in May 2001.

She is survived by 3 sons, Gary Kingsbury of Mapleton, Ill., Larry Kingsbury of Wadesville, Ind., and Stephen Kingsbury of Winlock, Wash.; 2 brothers, Oscar Highsmith of Ft. Branch, Ind., and Robert Highsmith of Elberfeld, Ind.; 5 grandchildren; 2 stepgrandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2002, at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. 1st Ave. Rev. James Thompson will be officiating.

Visitation will be Monday, February 11, 2002, from 2 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at Nobles Chapel Cemetery in Elberfeld, Ind.

Memorial contributions may be made to Nobles Chapel Church.

Nicholas Okruch Sr.

Nicholas Okruch Sr., 76, of Evansville, died at his residence of cancer on Saturday, February 9, 2002. Mr. Okruch retired from PB&S Chemical Company in 1991. Prior to that, he had been a purchasing agent at Bernardin, Louis-Allis, Arkla and Servel Inc. Mr. Okruch was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the 14th Armored Division in Germany.

He was a graduate of Morris Harvey College, now the University of Charleston in Charleston, West Virginia. He also did graduate work at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky., after which he taught high school and was a coach at St. Charles High School in Kentucky.

He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, past president of the Evansville Association of Purchasing Managers and, in his younger days, officiated high school football and basketball games. He liked to play golf and he enjoyed all sports.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ellamae; three children, Katherine (Paul) Schappler of Columbus, Ind., Mary (Tim) McCann of St. Louis, Mo., and Nicholas (Madina) Okruch Jr. of Louisville, Ky.; mother-in-law, Dixie Smith of Sturgis, Ky.; and 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Ann Gustafson of Jamestown, N.Y.; two brothers, Andrew Okruch of Kane, Pa., and Michael Okruch of Warren, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. at Browning Funeral Home, today, February 11, 2002, where a memorial service will be held at 6 p.m.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 12, 2002, at 10 a.m., at Browning Funeral Home, continued at 10:30 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, with Rev. William Traylor officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Deaconess/Ohio Valley Hospice Care or St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Arie Paxson Jr.

Arie M. Paxson Jr., 81, of Evansville, died Saturday, February 9, 2002, at 8:45 p.m. He was born July 19, 1920. Arie was a graduate of Bosse High School, class of 1937. He was in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific for 37 months during World War II.

Arie owned and operated Paxson Hills Country Club and was also actively involved in Evansville military Collectors' Club, where he had served as president. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenn Dee, in 1990, and also his grandson, Nicholas Paxson, in 1990.

Survivors are sons, Michael and his wife, Susie Paxson of Ellettsville, Ind., and Nick and Russ Paxson, both of Evansville; a daughter, Jennifer and her husband, Tom Ubelhor of Evansville; grandchildren, Christy Paxson of New Orleans, La., Joe Paxson of Bloomington, Ind., Russ Paxson Jr. of Bloomington, and Kristopher Paxson and Jeffrey and Elizabeth Ubelhor, all of Evansville; and a beloved friend of the family, Debbie Glover.

Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Alexander East Chapel. Private graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time at Alexander East Chapel.

James Taylor

James P. Taylor, 20, of Newburgh, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center after an accident at his home.

Surviving are his parents, Patrick J. and Tamara Taylor; a sister, Kaytesa Taylor; and grandparents, Pam and Larry Mohr, James Taylor, and Paul and Janice Brenner.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home, burial in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Computer Technology Classes at North High School.
