Ruth Emma Stellhorn

October 13, 1915 - November 9, 2000
Ruth Emma Stellhorn, 85, Monticello, died Thursday, Nov. 9, at 1:30 a.m. at Twin Lakes Village, Monticello.

She was born Oct. 13, 1915, to Harry and Frieda Moews Carr, in Indianapolis. She was married August 20, 1936, to Vernon Stellhorn, in Earl Park. He died July 19, 1976.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior.

She was a 1933 graduate of Indianapolis Tech High School.

She is survived by a daughter, Charlene Buss of Monticello; a son, John Stellhorn, Monticello; a brother, Ed Carr, Clearwater, Florida, three grandchildren and a great grandchild. Three brothers are deceased.

Funeral service was Monday at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with the Rev. William Parsons officiating.

Burial was in Bedford Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior or the Monon First Responders.

Payton Jeffrey Glen Stevens

May 19, 2002 - May 22, 2002
Infant Payton Jeffrey Glen Stevens, infant son of Travis Glen and Angela Dawn Franklin Stevens, died May 22, 2002 at Home Hospital in Lafayette.

He was born May 19, 2002 at Home Hospital.

Surviving besides his parents are maternal grandparents Brad and Deb Franklin of Monon and Charles and Sharon "Reinholt" Hartwell, Monon; Maternal great grandparents, Lee and Dorothy Reinholt, Monon and Gene and Linda Franklin, Monon; Paternal grandparents, Darrell and Judy Stevens, Lafayette and Paternal great grandparents Ellen Jenkins of Delphi, Ruby Koch, of Nashville, IN and Glen Stevens of Tompkinsville, KY.

One sister, Skyler Dawn Stevens, at home in Lafayette, and several great aunts, uncles and several cousins also survive.

Funeral Services were Saturday at the Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon with Pastor Don Newman and Rev. Steve Birch officiating. Burial was in Bedford Cemetery.

Florence A. Taylor

June 19, 1920 - May 28, 2003
Florence Anna Taylor, 82, of Monon died Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare. She had been ill for two years.

She was born in Monon on June 19, 1920, to Frank and Vida Taylor Allen. She married Harold R. Taylor in Monticello on February 8, 1944. He died October 2, 1982.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Monon First Baptist Church.

Survivors include sisters, Nina Dyer of Monon and Barbara McKinley of Fort Wayne.

Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.

A private service was held at Bedford Cemetery with Rev. Steve Birch officiating.

Kellogg Funeral Home was in charge of the services.

Hershel 'Buck' Troyer

September 24, 1918 - February 19, 2002
Hershel C. "Buck" Troyer, 83, Monon, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. in the Rensselaer Care Center, Rensselaer. He had resided at the center for one year and had been ill for 15 years.

He was born Sept. 24, 1918 to David William and Julia May Williams Troyer, in Knox. He was married Sept. 5, 1942, to Margaret E. Forsythe in Hattiesburg, Miss., and she survives.

He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines for four years during World War II. He was a sergeant with the 152nd Infantry-38th Division.

He was a gas service man for 40 years and was retired from NIPSCO.

He lived in Monon since 1961, coming from South Bend.

Other survivors include a son, Bruce Troyer of Monon; a daughter, Lana Lass of Erving, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Three brothers and four sisters are deceased.

Services were Friday at 1:30 in the Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with the Rev. Kenin Smith officiating.

Burial, with full military graveside rites, was at the Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes. Foundation.

Jennifer L. Wagner

February 10, 1970 to March 12, 1994
Jennifer L. Wagner, 24, Reynolds, died Saturday night, March 12, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, following an automobile accident.

She was born Feb. 10, 1970 in Salem, Ohio, to Joseph Anton and Patricia Ann Briskin Wagner.

She had lived in Reynolds for three years. She formerly lived in Wheatfield. She was employed as a waitress at Dock's Inn, north of Monticello.

Surviving with her father of Reading, PA, and her mother, Patricia Krivaneck of Monon, are a son, Johnathon Thompson of Reynolds; stepfather, Derreck Krivaneck of Cedar Lake; maternal grandparents, Dave and Frances Briskin of Monon; two sisters, Dawn Milbourn of Chalmers and Chastity Krivaneck of Monon; and a twin brother, Mike Wagner of Tampa, FL.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Kellogg Funeral Home; Monon, with Frank Hicks officiating.

Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

Arthur William Clemens Werner

November 16, 1913 to November 30, 1988
Arthur William Clemens Werner, 75, of Reynolds died Wednesday, November 30, at his residence. He had been seriously ill for the past two weeks.

A retired White County Highway employee, he was born November 16, in Reynolds, the son of William and Elizabeth Pauline (Heimilich) Werner. His marriage was to Lola Kellenburger on October 23, 1937 in Reynolds. She survives along with two sons: David A Werner, Reynolds and William E. Werner of Orlando, FL and two daughters, Mrs. Gary Adele Gadlove, Glendale, AZ and Lorita Farrell, Chalmers.

His step mother, Stella Werner, Lafayette, a half-brother, Thomas Werner, Lafayette, a half-sister, Evelyn Fox, Compton, IL, one brother Paul Werner, Medaryville and one sister, Elizabeth Jarrett of Monticello also survive. One daughter and one brother preceded him in death.

He had fifteen grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A lifelong resident of Reynolds, he was a Charter member, Past Governor and held several offices in the Monticello Moose Lodge. He also was a member of the Legion of the Moose and Fellowship of the Moose.

Services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon with Pastor Stephen Koenig officiating. Burial will be in Bedford Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. on Friday. There will be a Moose Service on Friday evening. Memorials may be made to the Reynolds Fire Department.

Adlai W. Wolf, Jr.

March 10, 1920 - March 24, 2002
Adlai W. Wolf, Jr., 82 of Monticello died Sunday, March 24 at White County Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 10, 1920 in Lafayette, the son of Adlai W. and Mazy J. Woods Wolf, Sr. He married Norma J. Linedecker on November 22, 1945. She died on December 14, 1996.

He was a 1938 graduate of Reynolds High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army in the European Theater.

He moved from Reynolds to Monticello in 1992.

He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour.

He was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years and was past commander two times. He was a charter member of the Reynolds VFW. He volunteered for funeral detail color guard for several years.

He was a charter member of the White County 4-H Board.

Surviving are a daughter, Carleta J. (Richard) Downs of Reynolds, brothers Charles (Katie) Wolf and Roger Wolf, both of Monticello; sister Joy (Don) Howard of Frankfort. Two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Three brothers are deceased.

Visitation will be tonight (Wednesday) from 4-8 p.m. at the Voorhis - Draper Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour, with Rev. William Parsons officiating.

Burial with full military rites will be at Bedford Cemetery, Monon.

Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour.

Carol J. Griffin Barnes

April 19, 1930 to Jan. 23, 1994
Carol J. Griffin Barnes, 63, Chalmers, died Sunday evening, Jan. 23, at Regency Place, Lafayette. where she had been a patient since Dec. 15.

She was born April 19, 1930 in Tippecanoe County to Delbert and Lucille Grandstaff Griffin. Her mother lives in Brookston. She married John E. "Johnie" Barnes in Waynetown, IN. He died Feb. 7, 1992.

She was a 1948 graduate of Brookston High School and worked at the former Chesebrough-Ponds facility in Monticello from 1962 until it closed.

Surviving with her mother are a son, Michael of Lafayette: one daughter. Mrs. Don (Elizabeth "Betsy") Kressley of Delphi: two stepsons, William Barnes of Lake Worth, FL and Edward "King" Barnes of Brookston; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Charlene Thompson of Brookston; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, the Rev. Loren Shuman officiated.. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery in Brookston.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arlys J. Bowers

June 26, 1928 - June 2, 2003
Arlys Jean Downey Bowers, 74, of North Judson, a former Buffalo resident died Monday, June 2, 2003, at her residence.

She was born in Buffalo on June 26, 1928, to Homer Ray and Mary Renwick Downey. She married John C. Bowers in Buffalo on June 18, 1949. He died June 21, 2000.

She had been employed as a medical transcriptionist in a doctor's office.

She lived in North Judson for 39 years.

Survivors include daughters, Janet E. (Larry) Wilde of North Judson, Arlys Joanne (Russell) Anderson of Bedford, Iowa and Judi (Jim) Pingel of Knox, a son, John (Nancy) Bowers of Knox, sisters, Margaret (Forrest) Peterson of Valparaiso and Joyce (Clyde) Tribbett of Buffalo; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Sisters Janet Downey, Carol Kestle, Eleanor Deckard and Kathlyn Amey and brothers Homer and Max Downey are deceased.

Services and burial were held in North Judson, with Braman and Bailey Funeral Home in charge.

Memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice of LaPorte County or the Bible Baptist Church at Knox.
