Thomas G. Temple

Carol L Temple Thomas G. Temple, 68, died Wednesday, Sept 16, at his residence, of Lockport. Carol L. (McCombs) Temple died Friday, Sept. 18, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
They were long time residents of Carroll County.
They were known throughout the community as a loving couple, deeply committed to their religion, to each other and to their family.
They touched the lives of many people through their physical labor as well as their special music.
The couple had four children: Tom Temple, Carroll County; Becky Hankins, Columbus Air Force Base, Miss.; Barbara Roller, Carroll county; and Rick Temple, Florida.
They have 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He is survived by two brothers and a sister: Jack, Steve and Carol Lou.
She is survived by a sister, Nina. Five of her brothers and sisters, Margaret, Robert, Anna. Phillip and Sharon, are deceased.
They were both active in the Lockport Church He was a deacon and she was the organist- pianist. Both were Sunday school teachers and active in the choir.
They were members of the Carroll County Gideons, where he served in numerous positions. She was a member of the auxiliary.
He retired in 1992, from McGill Manufacturing, Monticello. Both were previously employed at their farm, as well as earlier employment at RCA, RBM and with Twin Lakes schools as bus drivers.
He was a life member of National Rifle Association and was on the board of directors for the Lakes Federal Credit Union.
She was a member of the Adams township Home Ec Club and was active in the Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU).
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at the Lockport Church, with the Rev. Nord Zootman officiating. Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of the service.
Burial was at the Seceeder/Cedarville Cemetery.
Clarence W. Thomas
December 3, 1894 - January 27, 1994
Clarence W. Thomas, 99, formerly of Rt. 1, Brookston, died Thursday morning, Jan. 27, at Heritage Healthcare Center, West Lafayette. He had lived there since November 1990.
He was born in Summitville on Dec. 3, 1894, to Micajah and Merian Etta Rich. He married Katherine E. Fry on July 31, 1918 in Brookston. She died Jan. 4, 1986.
He lived in the Brookston area since age 17.
He farmed in the Badger Grove area for many years before retiring in 1960.
He was a member of the Badger Grove Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Elizabeth) Minniear of Rt. 1, Reynolds; two sons, Marvin of Rt. 1, Brookston, and Francis "Chub" of Rt. 2, Brookston; 12 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
One son, one daughter and three brothers are deceased.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 30, at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, Pastor Christi Schmidt and Pastor Bob Rawlins officiated.
Burial was in IOOF Cemetery
in Brookston.

Elsie Marie Thomas
March 15, 1915 - June 17, 2001
Elsie Marie Briles Thomas 86, Lafayette, a former White County resident, died Sunday, June 17 at 7:15 p.m. in Rosewalk Village, Lafayette. She had resided at Rosewalk Village since 1999.
She was born March 15, 1915, to Bernard and Mary Elizabeth Hall Briles, in Scottsburg.
She had lived in White and Tippecanoe counties. She lived in Woods Edge, West Lafayette and Fairington Apartments, Lafayette.
She was employed in the housekeeping department at the Indiana Veterans Home and retired in 1984.
She was a former member of Chalmers Baptist Church.
She was a member of the Chalmers Rebekah Lodge and Monticello Eagles.
She is survived by three daughters, Doris Ann (Jim) Wagner, Brookston; Judy (Larry) Stoller, of Lowell and Carolyn (Myron) Holwerda, Latyette; a brother, Jack Briles of Okeechobee, Florida; four sisters, Bernice (Robert) LaRue of Harvey, Ill.; Mary Newlin, Lafayette; Catherine Thomas of New Port Richey, Florida and Doris Doss of Covington; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.
An infant brother; three brothers, Fred, Sam and Glenn; and a sister, Thelma, are deceased.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating.
Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston.
Memorials may be given to the donor's favorite charity.
Francis E. "Chub" Thomas
February 5, 1923 - March 7, 1995
Francis E. "Chub" Thomas, 72, Brookston, died Tuesday, March 7, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he was admitted Friday, March 3.
He was born in Badger Grove on Feb.5, 1923 to Clarence W. and Katherine H. Fry Thomas. He married Mary Elizabeth Dwane on Feb. 13, 1944 in Reynolds. She died May 14, 1993.
He was a retired farmer. He was also retired from Thomas Lime Service. He had lived all his life in the Badger Grove Community.
He attended Brookston schools, and the Badger Grove Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons: Stephen F. of Rt. 1, Brookston, and David O. of Rt. 2, Brookston; one brother, Marvin Thomas of Burnettsville; one sister, Mrs. Carl (Elizabeth) Minniear, Rt. 1, Reynolds; and two grandchildren, Laura and Michael Thomas.
One brother, Everett, and a sister, Leota Matthews, are deceased.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 11, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, the Rev. Robert L. Rawlins officiated.
Burial was in the IOOF Brookston Cemetery.

Lee Dale Thomas
October 1, 1929 - August 19, 1994
Lee Dale Thomas, 64, 730 S. Maple St.. Monticello, died Friday, Aug. 19, at Home Hospital, Lafayette. He had been in failing health for several years.
He was born Oct. 1. 1929 to William Robert and Delsi Shipman Thomas in Montmorenci. He married Anita J. Bristow on Dec. 31, 1949 in Lafayette and she survives.
He had lived in the Lafayette and Battle Ground areas for 16 years. He also had lived in the Monticello and Reynolds areas for 20 years.
He was an auctioneer and owned and operated Thomas Auction House in Brookston for several years.
He had also worked for Hornback-Sickler in Monticello for 10 years. In 1991 he retired as a jailer with the White County Sheriffs Dept. after 12 years.
He was a member of the Lake Shafer Christian Center.
Surviving with his wife are two sons, Jeffery L. of Monticello and Shane S. of Logansport; one daughter, Mrs. Harvey (Debra) Weston of Goshen; one brother, Max R. of Lafayette; and nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Three half brothers, three half sisters and one sister are deceased.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 23, at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Pastor Nate Pyle officiated.
Burial was in IOOF Riverview Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Lake Shafer Christian Center.
Bessie A. Keplar Thompson
May 7, 1899 - March 11, 1995
Bessie A. Keplar Thompson, 95, of Davis Manor, West Lafayette, died Saturday, March 11, at Home Hospital, Lafayette, where she had been admitted Wednesday.
She was born May 7, 1899, to Samuel W. and Emma Bell Warfield Keplar, in Pulaski County. She was married May 11, 1924, to Paul Stoner Thompson at her parents' home in Pulaski County. He died June 21, 1990.
She and her husband owned and operated the Thompson Funeral Home from 1936-1965 when it was sold to Larry and Norine Hartzler.
She taught school at North Manchester and Pulaski County from 1918-1936.
She graduated in 1918 from Pulaski High School and attended Manchester College. She lived in Monticello from 1929-1936 and resided in Brookston from 1936-1989 before moving to West Lafayette.
She was a member of the Brookston Federated Church, the Prairie Home Demonstration Club and a retired member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Chi Chapter, Brookston. She received her 50-year pin from OES Crystal Chapter No. 165, Monticello.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John P. (Gloria) Erickson, R.2, Brookston; three grandchildren, Steve Erickson, West Lafayette, John F. Erickson, R.2, Brookston, and Mrs. Robert (Lana) Little, Brookston and seven great grandchildren. Two sisters and six brothers are deceased.
The funeral was Tuesday at the Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating.
Burial was in Tippecanoe Cemetery, Pulaski County.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Brookston Federated Church.
Helen A. Thompson
March 9, 1903 - June 23, 1997
Helen A. Lesley Thompson, 94, formerly of Chalmers, died Monday, June 23, at 12:20 a.m. at Crestmark of Monticello, where she had resided since 1993.
She was born March 9, 1903, to Bruce and Lula Nalley Lesley, in Buck Creek. She was married March 7, 1922, to Richard L. Thompson Sr., in Monticello, and he died Aug. 11, 1977.
She was educated in Buck Creek and Chalmers Schools and was a homemaker.
Survivors are two sons, Richard and Jack Thompson of Chalmers; two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Johns, Idaville and Mrs. Richard (Donna) Westphal, Reynolds; a brother, Wilbur Lesley of St. James City, Florida; 15 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren.
A sister, three brothers and an infant daughter are deceased.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Gerald Stevens officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Chalmers Community Church Building Maintenance Fund.
