Lance Thompson, 99, of South Bend died Monday, June 18th in South Bend.

He was an uncle of Jack Hughes of Monon.

Visitation will be tonight at the Wilsheimer Funeral Home in South Bend with the funeral scheduled for Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

Vida Scott Ferguson Tillman

June 15, 1901 - May 15, 1991
Vida Scott Ferguson Tillman, 89, West Palm Beach, Florida, formerly of Brookston, died Wednesday, May 15, in her home.

She was born June 15, 1901, to Ed and Tina Ford Darnell Scott, in Brookston. She first married Charles Ferguson, in 1920, and he died in 1923. On July 20, 1968, she married Charles Tillman, who survives.

She graduated in 1920 from Brookston High School. She was a telephone operator in Warren, and retired in 1962.

She was a former member of the United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star, both in Warren.

She moved from Warren to Florida, 29 years ago.

Also, surviving is a son, Charles B. "Bev" Ferguson, Pompano Beach, Fla., and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers and two sisters are deceased.

The funeral was Saturday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Gene Ansell officiating.

Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.

Sadie A. Titus

October 20, 1901 - October 11, 1988
Sadie Ann Bush Titus, 86, R.1, Battle Ground, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 1:15 p.m. in Home Hospital, Lafayette. She had been a patient there since June 22.

She was born Oct 20, 1901 in White County and graduated from Milroy High School in 1918. She was married Oct. 7,1932, to John Roy Titus Jr., in Springboro, Ind. He died April 16, 1969.

Mrs. Titus, known for her quilting skills, was a member of the Americus Quilting Club since 1971. She also was a member of Brookston Federated Church and Tippecanoe Home Demonstration Club. Surviving are two sons, Darwin Titus, West Lafayette and David Titus, R.1, Battle Ground; and one brother, William "Bill" Bush, R.2, Brookston. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. Three brothers, 3 sisters preceded in death.

Friends may call 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.

Service will be Saturday, at 11 a.m. in Hartzler Chapel, with the Rev. Maurice Davis officiating.

Interment will be in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.

Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Tippecanoe County Chapter.

Joshua James Treichler [i.e., Treicher]

June 10, 1953 to October 12, 2000
Joshua James Treicher, 17, of Monticello died Thursday, October 12, 2000 in Omaha, Nebraska.

He was born on June 10, 1953 in York County, PA to William R. and Donna Jenkins Treicher. He attended Twin Lakes schools and received his GED in July 2000.

He is a former employ of Family Dollar, Monticello. His goal in life was to be a carpenter.

Surviving are his mother Donna Jenkins Carter and stepfather Kenneth Carter of Monticello; his father William B. Treicher of Lewistown, PA; grandparents Ann Jenkins and James and Ruth Treicher all of Lancaster, PA; two brothers Michael Marchand of Mt Joy, PA and Winston Carter of Monticello and two sisters, Michelle Marchland of Lancaster, PA and Adah Carter Miller of Monticello. His grandfather Jenkins is deceased.

Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. today at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Pastor Ed Selvidge officiating.

Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brookston.

Lester Triplett

[1914?] - July 3, 2002
Lester Triplett, 88, of Corning, Ark., the father of a Brookston resident, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at Arkansas Methodist Hospital, Paragould, Ark.

He was a retired farmer.

Local survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Diane Brown of Brookston.

The funeral was at Ermert Funeral Home, Corning, Ark., with Rev. Charles Colbert officiating.

Burial was at Bond Cemetery, Knobel, Ark.

Ylario Tristan

January 17, 1922 to February 26, 1989
Ylario Tristan, 87, R.1, Chalmers, died Sunday, Feb. 26, at 8:12 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center in Lafayette.

Mr. Tristan was retired from working in the oil fields in Texas.

He was born Jan. 17, 1922, and a native of Ganado, Texas. He was married Nov. 27, 1940, to Louisa Rodriquez, who died Oct. 10, 1986.

Surviving are a daughter, Lupe Briseno, Flora; two sons, Ylario Tristan Jr., Moss Hill, Texas and Joe Tristan, Chalmers; two brothers, Paul Tristan, Victoria, Texas and John Tristan, LaWard, Texas.

Also surviving are 15 grand children and 8 great grand children.

Service was in Reinke Funeral Home, Flora, Tuesday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Gary West officiating. Interment was in Maple Lawn Cemetery.

Infant Collin Robert Tullius

March 11, 2001
Infant Collin Robert Tullius was stillborn at 10:55 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Home Hospital, Lafayette.

His parents are Robert and Jeri Leavitt Tullius of Brookston.

He is also survived by his grandparents, Robert and Billie Leavitt of Terre Haute and Robert and Kay Tullius of Hartland, Mich; great-grandparents, Ruby Richardson of Terre Haute and Katherine Tullius of Detroit; and several aunts and uncles.

A graveside service for family and friends was held on Thursday, March 15, 2001 at IOOF Cemetery, Brookston with Rev. Jan Dimick officiating.

Hartzler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Elsie I. Tully

October 21, 1916 - November 26, 2002
Elsie I. Tully, 86, of Brookston, died Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at Home Hospital, Lafayette.

She was born on October 21, 1916, in Carroll County, to Elmer and Della Pugh Irelan. She married Clarence P. Tully. He is deceased.

She was a 1935 graduate of Delphi High School. She was a resident of the area for over 60 years.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Zion Bethel Church.

Surviving are a son, William E. Tully, of Monticello; sisters, Anna Bilyeu of Reynolds, Martha Smith of Burnettsville and Mary Stokes of Delphi; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with Pastor Jeff Messer officiating.

Burial was at Spring Creek Cemetery, Brookston.

Kathi L. Turbin

May 18, 1953 - January 17, 2003
Kathi L. Turbin, 49, of Monticello died Friday, January 17, 2003 at Home Hospital, Lafayette.

She was born at Memphis, Tenn., May 18, 1953 to William C. and Virginia Reece. She married David Turbin at Monticello on November 28, 1989. He survives.

She had lived in the Monticello community for 19 years, coming from Memphis. She graduated from high school in Memphis and attended Memphis State Univesity.

She was a legal secretary for Lucille Uttermohlen in Monticello.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello.

She was a member of AMVETS and American Legion Ladies Auxiliaries both of Monticello. She had also served as the treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She loved cooking, reading and working with her flowers in the yard.

Surviving with her husband are her parents; a son, Chris Parrish of Memphis; stepdaughters, Sarah (Bob) Tincher and Sondra Turbin both of Monticello; a stepson Benjamin (Crystal) Turbin of Monticello; sisters, Sandy Mayo and Tina (Bob) Johnson, both of Bartlett, Tenn., and Ginger (Patton) Patton of Collinsville, Okla.; and four grandchildren.

A son, Brian Parrish, is deceased.

Funeral services were Tuesday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home with Rev. James Goodrum officiating.

Burial was in Hughes Cemetery.

Ernest "Ernie" Turner

August 18, 1930 - June 16, 2002
Ernest "Ernie" Turner, 71, of Monticello died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital, Beech Grove.

He was born in Anderson on August 18, 1930, to Neil Horace and Letha Turner. He married Geraldine M. "Jerry" Richeson in Indianapolis on December 31, 1972. She died January 2, 2001.

He had lived in Monticello since 1992, coming from Indianapolis.

He was a 1949 graduate of Anderson High School and attended Ball State University.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and served for four years. He was sent to Korea and stayed in the Pacific area three years and six months. He was discharged in June 1955.

He worked for North American Van Lines in Indianapolis for 28 years and retired as vice president of its High Value Products Division.

He was appointed as a White County Reserve Deputy on August 10, 1993. He was then appointed Reserve Commander on January 1, 1995. He was a deputy for the White County Sheriff's Department. He was also a deputy for the Marion County Sheriff's Department for 17 years.

He was a member of the Libanus Masonic Lodge 154 F&AM, White County Shrine Club (serving as president), and the Kiwanis Club all of Monticello. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Murat Temple of Indianapolis, White-Carroll County F.O.P. 123, National Achievers Club, the National Reserve Law Officers and the Indiana Drug Enforcement Association. He was also a member of the Indiana Sheriffs Association.

Survivors include daughters Linda "Chiki" Lawrence of Aurora, Colo., Karon (Gary) Harrison of Clayton, N. C. and Rosanna Lindquest of Texas; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. this evening at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home. Masonic Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with a Shrine service immediately following.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Rev. Ed Selvidge and Rev. Noel Lyons officiating.

Burial with full military rites will be at Hughes cemetery near Buffalo.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
