Dorothy W. Wiley

Dorothy W. Wiley, 84 of Monticello died Monday, January 3, 2000, in White County Memorial Hospital.
She had lived most of her life in White County.
She was born January 20, 1915 in White County, the daughter of Carl A. & Dora Godenrath Dahlenburg.
Her marriage was to Walter Wiley on May 19, 1934 in Monticello and he survives.
A housewife, she enjoyed playing cards. She was a member of the Monon Town & Country Home Ec Club, Eagles Auxiliary, Monticello Senior Citizens and a former member of Rebekah Lodge and Royal Neighbors.
Surviving besides her husband are four sons: Arthur W. Wiley of Grayling, MI, Larry D. (Virginia), Wolcott, IN, Dennis L. (Janet) Wiley, Birmingham, AL, Donald W. (Jan) and Darrel A. (Kim) Wiley of Monticello.
Three brothers, Carl Dahlenburg, Reynolds, George Wiley, Monticello, Robert Dahlenburg, Monon and two sisters, Elizabeth Logan, Lafayette and Mary Hammel of Fairfield, OH.
She had 16 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Two brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home in Monticello at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 6, with Rev. Jeff Messer officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Riverview IOOF Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the White County Council on Aging or the charity of your choice.
Walter W. Wiley
December 13, 1909 - June 10, 2003
Walter W. Wiley, 93, of Monticello, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Twin Lakes Village Nursing Home, Monticello.
He was born in Jasper County on December 13, 1909, to Ernest and Ada Burkes Wiley. He married Dorothy W. Dahlenburg in White County on May 19, 1934. She died January 3, 2000.
He was a 1928 graduate of Monon High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in New Guinea.
He worked at RCA and was a farmer.
He was a charter member of the VFW. He had been a member of the Eagles Lodge, Royal Neighbors, and Twin Lakes Senior Citizens Club, all of Monticello. He was a member of I.O.O.F. Lodge 107. He was also a member of the Rebekahs. He enjoyed playing euchre, pinochle and reading.
Survivors include sons Arthur W. (Cathy) Wiley of Graying, MI, Larry D. (Virginia) Wiley of Wolcott, Dennis L. (Janet) Wiley of Florence, Ala., Donald W. (Jan) Wiley of Monticello and Darrel A. (Kim) Wiley of Delphi; a sister, Bessie Watkins of Lake Village; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A brother, David L. Wiley, is deceased.
Funeral services were Friday at Fisher-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Messer officiating.
Interment with full military rites was at Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to White County Council on Aging.
Charles R. Williams
November 2, 1916 to December 5, 1999
Charles R. Williams, 83, Brookston died Sunday. December 5, 1999 at Home Hospital in Lafayette.
He had lived in the area since 1921 and had lived at Regency Place in Lafayette since November 10 and was hospitalized on December 3rd.
He was born November 2, 1916 in Texarkana. Arkansas, the son of Cody and Ella May (Shannaberger) Williams. He graduated from Round Grove High School in 1934. He served in the Army for four years, two years with the Army Ordnance and two years in the Infantry.
A retired farmer, he also worked as a carpenter and blacksmith.
He is survived by two sons, Wayne Williams of West Lafayette and John Williams of Lafayette and two sisters, Marcella Bronson of Homer, MI and Berneice Warner of Tuscon, AZ. A brother Jack preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. today.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home with Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
Emmett D. Williams
January 9, 1921 - August 4, 2002
Emmett D. Williams, 81, of Monticello died Sunday, August 4, 2002 at White County memorial Hospital.
He was born in Jasper County on January 9, 1921, to John E. and Anna Marie Clayton Williams. He married Ruth A. Maxwell in Rensselaer on December 23, 1939. She survives.
He was a farmer, and also worked for RCA from 1967-82.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
Other survivors include sons, John W. Williams of Dawsonville, GA, William H. Williams of Remington and Donald "Butch" Lee Williams of Oviedo, FL; a daughter Nancy K. Sanders of Monon; a brother Marvin Williams of Monticello; a sister Delores "Peg" Smith of Monon; 12 grandchildren; and 33 great grandchildren.
Three brothers and five sisters are deceased.
Funeral services were August 7th at Fisher-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Rev. William Eisner officiating.
Burial was at Riverview 1.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Kenneth D. Williams
September 19, 1920 to May 14, 1990
Kenneth D. "Kenny" Williams, 69, 117 Holden Drive, Brookston died Monday, May 14, in Home Hospital, Lafayette. He had been in failing health, five years.
He was born Sept. 19, 1920, to Thomas and Olive Richardson Williams, in Benton County. He was married to Joyce Thornberry Gosnell, who survives.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired in 1985, as co-owner of Halstead Implement, where he was employed for 38 years.
He was a member of the Brookston Federated Church and Brookston American Legion Post.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, Walter, stationed at Oscoda Air Force Base, Michigan, Greg, Fort Worth, Texas and Tommy, Winston-Salem, N.C.; one daughter, Vicki, Winston-Salem, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Cindy Gosnell, West Lafayette; and three grandchildren. One brother and one sister are deceased.
The funeral was 11a.m. today, at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, the Rev. Ralph Smith officiated.
Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
Gladys Marie Wilson
June 11, 1913 - October 23, 2002
Gladys Marie Wilson, 89, formerly of Chalmers, died Wednesday, October 23, at 2:10 a.m. in Monticello Assisted Living and healthcare, where she had resided for the past three years.
She was born June 11, 1913, to D.C. "Jim" and Avanelle Ward Wilson, in Chalmers.
She was the former Chalmers town clerk-treasurer for 12 years and was then deputy clerk-treasurer for eight years.
She was a member of Chalmers community Church.
Surviving are nephews, Jack (Carol) Kellenburger of Winamac and Jim (Sally) Kellenburger of Brookston and several great nieces and great nephews.
Two sisters, Myrle Kellenburger and Evelyn Fox, are deceased.
Services were Friday, at 2 p.m. in the Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Pastor Bill Henderson officiating.
Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Chalmers Community Church or the American Cancer Society.
Pearl Grandstaff Wilson
July 28, 1912 to July 13, 1997
Pearl B. Grandstaff Wilson, 84, Lafayette, died Sunday, July 13, at 9:25 a.m. in Heritage Healthcare Center, West Lafayette. She had been a resident at the center since March.
She was born July 28, 1912, to Clyde and Dora Baker Grandstaff, in Lafayette. She was married Oct. 20, 1934, to Roy Lee Wilson in Battle Ground and he died Feb. 23, 1968.
She graduated from Brookston High School in 1930 and had lived in Lafayette since 1983, moving from Brookston.
She worked at S.S. Kresge for 12 years and Brookston IGA for 12 years.
She was a member of the Community Reformed Church of Lafayette, where she was a former choir member. She was a former member and secretary of Prairieland Housing in Brookston.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Sylvia) Patterson and Janey Wilson, both of Lafayette.
Three sisters are deceased.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Community Reformed Church, Lafayette, with Pastor Lyle Zumdahl officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 5-9 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.
Burial will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
Memorials may be given to Community Reformed ETC Fund, the Wabash Center Children's Clinic or St. Elizabeth Dialysis Center.
Vera Grace Wilson
March 16, 1911 - January 27, 2003
Vera Grace Wilson, 91, of Monon died Monday, January 27, 2003 in Rensselaer Care Center.
She was born March 16, 1911, in Monon, the daughter of James G. and Eva (Williams) Spencer. She married James A. Wilson on June 22, 1936 in Monticello. He died December 16, 1967.
A homemaker, she had worked at Querry Pharmacy, Kraft Dress Shop and Annis Foodliner all in Monon.
She graduated from Monon High School.
She was a lifelong resident of Monon, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Monon.
Surviving are two daughters, Marsha (Peter) Ward of Martinsville, and Bobbie (Butch) Jeffries of Wheatfield and one sister, Opal Shull of Kewanna. She had four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Four brothers and five sisters preceded her in death
Visitation will be at the Kellogg Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
Funeral Services will be at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday with Rev. Steve Birch officiating. Burial will be in Dobbins Cemetery, Wolcott.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Monon.
