Connie Young Weston

July 1, 1942 to March 10, 1992
Connie S. Young Weston, 49, Brookston, died Tuesday, March 10, in Home Hospital, Lafayette.

She was born July 1, 1942, in Lafayette, to James and Rosemary Allie Young, Brookston, and they survive. She was married May 13, 1961, to Ernest Larry Weston, in Brookston and he survives.

She attended Brookston High School.

She was a member of Brookston United Methodist Church.

Other survivors include a son, Brett, R.2 (Tecumseh Bend) Brookston; four daughters, Tammy, Brookston; Jenny, West Lafayette; Mrs. Michelle Hamilton, Lafayette and Mrs. Leslie Springer, Brookston; a brother, Stanley Young, Brookston; three sisters, Mrs. Sharon Hiner, Brookston; Mrs. Vicki Richardson, Lafayette and Mrs. Debra Mikels, Brookston; and 13 grandchildren. A granddaughter is deceased.

The funeral was today at 11 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Rev. Gene Ansell officiating.

Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.

Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or to Brookston United Methodist Church.

Robert Lee Weston

January 25, 1955 - April 13, 2002
Robert Lee Weston, 47, of Brookston died Saturday, April 13, 2002 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident.

He was born at Lafayette on January 25, 1955, to Charles and Vera Parrish Weston.

He married Annette Stinson on November 21, 1984 in Brookston. She survives.

He was a 1973 graduate of Frontier High School

He worked in the extrusion department at ALCOA in Lafayette for the past 27 years.

He was a member of the Lafayette Moose Lodge No. 1529 and enjoyed playing golf.

Surviving besides his wife are his parents; three daughters, Jill (Andie) Mears of Monticello; and Ashley Weston and Sara Weston of Brookston; two brothers, Steve (Darcey) Weston of Lafayette and Greg Weston of Brookston; a sister, Rita (Joe) Butz of Brookston; his father and mother in law, Gerald and Carol Stinson of Monon.

Funeral services were today at the Brookston United Methodist Church with Rev. Jan Dimick officiating.

Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston. Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston was in charge of the services.

Memorials may be made to Brookston United Methodist Church.

Richard M "Dick" Wheeler

October 2, 1923 to January 2, 1999
Richard M. "Dick" Wheeler, 75 of Wolcott died suddenly on Saturday, January 2, 1999 at White County Memorial Hospital.

He was born October 2, 1923 in Montezuma, IN. the son of Leonard and Sarah Machin Wheeler. He had lived in Wolcott since 1955.

He married Darline Fry in 1949 and she survives along with two daughters, Beth Folsom of Marcos, Colorado and Lisa Bettis of Bloomington, IL and two sons, Fred Wheeler of Plano, TX and Eric Wheeler of Lafayette, IN. He had 6 grandchildren.

He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1941 and Ball State University in 1948 He was a retired school teacher and editor/publisher of the New Wolcott Enterprise. He taught school in Rockport, Montezuma, Wolcott and Tri-County.

He served on the State Student Assistance Commission, Indiana State Historical Society, White County Historical Society, and White County Retired Teachers.

Gov. Orr awarded him a Sagamore of the Wabash in 1986.

He served in the Army during World War II.

He was a member of the Wolcott United Methodist Church where he was a Lay Leader. He served on the Summer Festival Committee. And was a past master of the Wolcott Lodge 180 F&AM: Wolcott Chapter 171 OES; Scottish Rite; Wolcott American Legion Post 294; was president ol Anson Wolcott Historical Society and Wolcott Lions Club.

Friends may call at the Foster Funeral Home from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 1999 in the Wolcott United Methodist Church with Rev. Jason Gross and Rev. Mark O'Brein officiating. The body will lie in state at the church for 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Wolcott Cemetery.

Martha S. White

February 22, 1907 to January 24, 1987
Martha S. White, 79, formerly of Brookston, died at 5:32 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at Bradner Village Nursing Home in Marion, where she had resided since 1983.

She was born to George and Susan Million Sites, Feb. 22, 1907, in Yeoman. She married Leo Richard White, who died in 1959.

She worked at Prairie Telephone Co. for 35 years and for the Brookston Farmers State Bank for seven years.

She was graduated from Brookston High School and lived in Brookston until 1983. She was a member of the Brookston United Methodist Church and was a past noble grand of the Brookston Rebekah Lodge.

Surviving are one son, Richard F., Indianapolis; one sister Mrs. Mary Kintigh, Lansing, Mich.; and two granddaughters.

Services were Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home at Brookston, with the Rev. Gene Ansell officiating. Burial was in Brookston IOOF Cemetery.

Mildred White

May 18, 1895 to June 4, 1990
Mildred White, 95, formerly of Brookston, died Monday, June 4, in St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center at Delphi, where she had been a resident since May 31, 1988.

She was born May 18, 1895, to Mark and Anna Murphy Corns, in Battle Ground. She was married April 15, 1915, to Lowell White, in Brookston. He died Sept. 20, 1960.

She had been an employee of the former Bryan Manufacturing Co. in Monticello, for 26 years, retiring in 1971.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Wanetta Fite, R.2, Monticello, and Mrs. Marjorie Young, Earl Park; two sons, Francis E. and Don L, both of Brookston; one brother, Leon Corns, Mulberry; two sisters, Doris Thornell and Wanda Corns, both of West Lafayette; 16 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and 14 great- great grandchildren.

One son, one daughter, two grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters are deceased.

The funeral was today at 10 a.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, the Rev. Gene Ansell officiating.

Burial was in Brookston IOOF Cemetery.

Arthur Widner

August 17, 1922 - July 8, 2001
Arthur Widner, 78, the father of a Buffalo resident, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at his residence at River Oak, Texas

He was born in White County on August 17, 1922 to Arthur and Wyona Widner. He married Georgia E. Martin in Texas. She died in 1992.

He had lived in the Monon area and had moved to Texas in 1969.

He was a heavy equipment operator and was retired.

He is survived by two sons, Harold Joe Sr. (Cheryl) Widner of Fort Worth, Texas and Frank (Margie) Widner of Bloomfield, N. M.; two daughters, Mary (Gene) Kesler of Buffalo and Christine (Gary) Sweeney of Ft. Hood, Texas; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A daughter Wyona Rebecca Hall died in 1999.

Funeral services were Saturday, July 14, 2001 in Fort Worth.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or a heart association.

Bethel Winger

November 6, 1905 to March 22, 1992
Bethel Winger, 86, R.1, Wolcott, died Sunday, March 22, in Jasper Co. Hospital, Rensselaer.

She was born Nov. 6, 1905, to Harry and Mary Pluimer Allen, in Goodland. She was married April 20, 1925, to Robert Winger, who died in 1987.

She lived at R.1, Wolcott; since her marriage.

She was a member of Zion Bethel Church in Monticello.

Survivors include six sons: Harold, Monticello; Alva, Florida; Clifford, Oxford; Roger, Wolcott; Harry, Goodland and Carl, Brookston; a daughter, Mrs. Violet Widner, Remington; 10 grand children, 54 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a brother, Samuel Allen, Kentland, A son and daughter are deceased.

The funeral was Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home, Wolcott, with the Rev. Jeff Messer officiating.

Burial was in Wolcott Cemetery.

Lula B. Wood

October 23, 1934 - January 24, 2003
Lula B. Wood, 68, of Monon, died Friday, January 24, 2003, at White County Memorial Hospital, following a two-week illness.

She was born, October 23, 1934, in Rensselaer, to Floyd Herschel and Edna Bell Johns Bulington. She married Harry "Sonny" Wood on May 13, 1956, in Lee. He survives.

She was a 1955 graduate of Rensselaer High School.

She was a homemaker, who lived in Monon for 33 years, coming from Rensselaer.

She was a member of the former Lee United Methodist Church.

Surviving with her husband are a son, Doug Wood, of Monon; daughter Ronda (Dave) Kyburz of Wolcott; brothers Ron (Carol) Bulington and Russell (Fran) Bulington, both of Rensselaer and Alvin (Peg) Bulington of Hudson, Ill.; sister, Rosie (Ralph) Yeoman of Rensselaer, and eight grandchildren.

Three brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Funeral services were Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at Kellogg Funeral Home with Rev. Jacqueline Foley officiating.

Burial was at Welsh Cemetery, Rensselaer.

Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or the American Cancer Society.

William 'Jack' Woods

August 21, 1921 to April 27, 1989
William J. "Jack" Woods, 67, R.1, Chalmers, died at 1:28 a.m. Thursday, April 27, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he was admitted Tuesday.

He was born Aug. 21, 1921, to James Kelley and Viola Hazel Chamberlain Woods, in Lafayette. He was married Nov. 8, 1942 to Marjorie Culver in Chalmers, who survives.

He graduated from Chalmers High School in 1939. He attended Purdue's Ag Short Courses and was a farmer. He helped with the White County 4-H Fair for the last 15 years and was a Big Creek Township Democratic precinct committeeman. Also he was a member of Chalmers Community Church.

Surviving along with his wife are two sons, Roger F. and Gary A. both of Chalmers; a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Janet) Crowder, Covington; and seven grandchildren. A brother is deceased.

The funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Loren Shuman officiating.

Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Chalmers Community Church and the American Cancer Society.
