Pattie E. Smith

SPENCER -- Pattie E. Smith, 82, of Spencer, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2003 at Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer.

Born July 7, 1921 in Park County, she was the daughter of David and Sarah (Burch) Branson.

She worked at Otis in Bloomington, retired. She was a member of Spencer-Eastern Star, past matron; Spencer American Legion Auxiliary, past president; and a 7th Day Advantist.

Survivors include, five daughters, Yelanda "Carol" Smith of Spencer, Arlene Livingston of Bedford, Patricia Jo Smith of Spencer, Carla Sue Johnson of Spencer, and Delilah Simms of Bloomington; four sons, Leonard Smith of Spencer, Hollis Wayne Smith of Colorado, Dan Smith of Bloomington, and John Smith of Bloomfield; nine grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis Smith on Aug. 21, 1995; one sister; and one brother.

Funeral service was at West , Parrish, Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer on July 22 with Dr. Miled Modad officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Friends called at the funeral home on July 21. The Eastern Star Service was conducted by the Spencer Chapter.

Floyd W. Legge

SPRINGVILLE -- Floyd W. Legge, 54, of Springville, passed away at 6:15 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003 at Greene County General Hospital.

Born Jan. 4, 1949 in Morgan County, he was the son of Edmund Ozro and Sondra Lee (Collins) Legge.

He was a self-employed farrier.

Survivors include, two sisters, Jacque Wells of Springville and Sharon; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister and his parents.

There will be no visitation. Graveside service will be at Owensburg Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.

Clotene Hardesty

Clotene Hardesty, 79, of Linton, passed away at 9:45 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 at the Bloomington Hospital.

Born Sept. 12, 1922 in Linton, she was the daughter of Hallie and Belva Mae (Padgett) Wright.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Assembly of God in Linton.

Survivors include, one daughter, Hallie Ann Trimble of Bedford; one granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Jackson of Linton; one great-grandson, Mick Douglas Jackson of Linton; two sisters, Emma Lou Cunningham of Carmel and Loretta Mae Kluesner of Linton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Derril "Slug" Hardesty on July 26, 1979; one brother, one sister and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at the Anderson-Poindexter Linton Memory Chapel at 11 a.m., Saturday, with Revs. William Reigel and Rod Hardesty officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, three miles south of Dugger.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-8 p.m., Friday.

M. Lorena Campbell

M. Lorena Campbell, 73, of Linton, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Glenburn Nursing Home in Linton.

Born April 4, 1929, in Rankin, Ill., she was the daughter of Roy and Grace (Bauer) Wheeler.

She was a homemaker, and a member of the Adams St. Chapel Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Holmes of Linton; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Fred Crowley of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three granddaughters, Lorena Bledsoe of Tampa, Fla., Christy Harper of Linton and Holly Swords of Crossville, Ala.; and eight great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Campbell, and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be at Allen Funeral Home in Bloomington at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with John Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions may be made to Adams St. Chapel at 804 S. Adams St., Bloomington, Ind., 47403.

Jessie Florence (Blades) Cook

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. -- Jessie Florence (Blades) Cook, 87, of St. Louis Park, Minn., formerly of Linton, passed away at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2002 at Texas Terrace Care Center in St. Louis Park, Minn.

Born May 4, 1914 in Linton, she was the daughter of Fred and Rosa Belle (Flake) Blades.

Survivors include, one son, David W. Cook of Madison, S.D.; two daughters, Elaine Reidy of Indianapolis and Barbara Ann Cook of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren, Jenny Rondestvedt, David Cook, Jr., Suzanne Pederson, and Joseph Cook of Minneapolis, Minn., and Christina Harbert of Indianapolis; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Blades; two sisters, Elsie Harmon and Gertrude Mott; and her parents.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with the Rev. LaMont Bonath officiating.

Welch & Cornett Linton Chapel is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Betty A. Pirtle
MEROM - Betty A. ?Bird? Pirtle, 95, of Merom, passed away at 10 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001 at Miller?s Merry Manor in Sullivan. Born Sept. 22, 1906 in Joplin, Mo., she was the daughter of Walter and Sarah (Perkins) Frisby. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Merom Assembly of God Church. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Jackson Pirlte in 1975, one brother, and three sisters. Cremation is scheduled, with private services to be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at Merom Cemetery. Alexander Funeral Home in Sullivan is in charge of arrangements.

Ricky Lee Corlett
VINCENNES - Ricky Lee Corlett, 46, of Vincennes, passed away at 11:19 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. Born Oct. 5, 1954 in Altanta, Ga., he was the son of Jimmy Lee and Joanna J. (Roberts) Corlett. He was a cement finisher for Rick Barnett Construction. He was a veteran of Air Force Peacetime Service, a member of the Bethelham Baptist Church in Vincennes, and Moose Lodge 1617 of Petersburg. Survivors include, his wife, Kristy (Williams) Corlett of Vincennes; one son, Justin Corlett of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Tracy Corlett of Petersburg and Angie Corlett of St. Louis, Mo.; two stepsons, Kole Welsh of Fla., and Sean Hutchinson of Bloomington; one stepdaughter, Kara Welsh of Fla.; his mother, Joanna J. Roberts of Petersburg; his father, Jimmy Lee Corlett of Solsberry; one sister, Viki Traylor of Velpen; one brother, Billy Corlett of Petersburg; one grandson, Brandon Clift of St. Louis, Mo.; and his grandmother, Virtue Corlett of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy Corlett and Jimmy Lee Corlett Jr. Funeral service was at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield at 10 a.m. today with the Rev. Ted Miller officiating. Burial followed at Scotland Cemetery. Friends called at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, and 9 a.m. today until the hour of service.

Susie M. Wells
Susie M. Wells, 97, of Linton, passed away at 11:45 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001 at Glenburn Home in Linton. Born Nov. 30, 1903 in Little Rock, Ark., she was the daughter of Benjamin and Rebecca Pate. She was a long distance operator for Bell Telephone prior to her marriage and was a homemaker after that. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Dearborn, Mich. Survivors include, one daughter and son-in-law, Vinita and Dale Mihlfeld of Linton; seven grandchildren, Susie Yoder of Gwinn, Mich., Louise Baker and Gary Mihlfield of Linton, Ed Mihlfeld of Switz City, Steven Wells of Anaheim, Calif., Mark Wells of Goleta, Calif., and Warren Wells of Santa Maria, Calif.; 18 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Wells on Nov. 1, 1986, one son, Bill Wells, and her parents. Funeral services will be at Welch & Cornett Linton Chapel at 1 p.m. on Wednesday with the Rev. Wes Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, and after 11 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the service.

Rebecca M. Cooper
MEROM - Rebecca M. "Becky" Cooper, 81, of Merom, passed away at 7:55 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001 at Sullivan County Community Hospital. Born June 20, 1919 in Sullivan, she was the daughter of Arthur and Dona (Gravemeier) McGuire. She was a homemaker also bookkeeper, reception, and clerk for the Merom Library. She also was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include, two sons, Jeffery Buzard of Mannheim, Germany and Vincent Buzard of Rochester, N.Y.; two stepsons, James Cooper of St. Louis, Mo., and Dr. Tom Cooper of New York, N.Y.; one daughter, Emily Cooper Bunyan of Lawrenceville, Ill.; one sister, Virginia McGurie DeBaun of Sullivan; three granddaughters; and four step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter "Pespi" Cooper on July 2, 1983, and three sisters. Funeral service was at Alexander-Kean Funeral Home in Sullivan at 2 p.m. on Sunday with the Rev. Randy McNeely officiating. Burial followed at Merom Cemetery. Friends called at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sullivan County Humane Society or to Friends of the Knox County Public Library through Alexander-Kean Funeral Home.

Delema Rose Bedwell Jones
Delema Rose Bedwell Jones, 69, of Linton, passed away at 10 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001 at her residence. Born April 19, 1931 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Leslie and Dovie Kirby (Hamlin) Baize. She was a house parent for United Methodist Children's Home in Lebanon, and she also worked at Keller's Aluminum for six years. She was a member of Glenburn United Methodist Church, and Salvation Army. Survivors include, two sons, Lawrence W. Bedwell and Russell Bedwell of Linton; one daughter, Linda Kirchoff of White Lake, Mich.; three brothers, Winford Baize of Mishawaka, Donnie Baize of Sandborn, and Billy Baize of Linton; one sister, Deloris Stuppy of Coalmont; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren W. Bedwell on Jan. 14, 1972; one daughter, Marilyn Bedwell; one great grandchild; and one brother, Robert Baize. Funeral services will be at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Glenburn United Methodist Church.

Robert Owen Cox
BRIDGETON, Mo. - Robert Owen Cox, 70, of Bridgeton, Mo., and formerly of Linton, passed away Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 in Bridgeton, Mo. Born Sept. 7, 1930 in Worthington, he was the son of Claude and Ona (Loffland) Cox. He was raised by his stepfather, Clarence W. McCombs and his mother in Lyons. He graduated from the old Lyons High School in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on Nov. 27, 1951, and served in the Air Force until retiring on Nov. 26, 1981. He received several awards and commendations while in the service. He was an official amateur softball umpire for 42 years. Survivors include, his wife, Wilda M. Cox of Bridgeton, Mo.; two daughters and son-in-law, Elizabeth L. Cox of Overland, Mo., and Monique K. and Michael VanMeter of Fenton, Mo.; two half-brothers, James L. McCombs of Lyons and Donald J. McCombs of Linton; 12 grandchildren; two daughters; and one son from a previous marriage. He was preceded in death by one son William Clinton Cox; his parents; step father; one brother; and one half brother. Funeral services will be at Shepard Funeral Chapel in St. Louis, Mo., on Wednesday. Burial will follow at National Cemetery in Jefferson Barracks, Mo. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Michael Aaron Boyll
CALIFORNIA - Michael Aaron Boyll, 27, of California and formerly of Linton, passed away at 12:36 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001 at his residence. Born June 28, 1973 in Linton, he was the son of Michael A. Boyll and Christina K. (Mowery) Boyll. He was a musician, both teaching and recording. Survivors include his father, Michael A. Boyll of Linton; maternal grandparents; Bob and Carolyn Mowery of Newsberry; paternal grandfather, Kenneth Boyll of Vincennes; and one sister, Amy Boyll of Linton. He was preceded in death by his mother, Christina K. (Mowery) Boyll on Nov. 11, 1999. Funeral services will be at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel at 11 a.m. on Friday with the Rev. Brian Vickers officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel in Newberry. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday.

Rose Ella Reynolds
DUGGER - Rose Ella Reynolds, 83, of Dugger, passed away at 7:18 a.m., today, Feb. 7, 2001 at Sullivan Health and Living Center.

She was born Dec. 12, 1917 in Martin County.

She was the daughter of William Howard and Ella Agatha (Stevenson) Sims.

She was a member of the Dugger First Christian Church, Dugger Rebeccah Lodge, Dugger Pythian Sisters Lodge and the Dugger American Legion Auxillary.

Survivors include, one son and daughter -in-law, Raymond Howard and Essie Reynolds of Dugger; seven grandchildren, Melissa Ranard, Belinda Wrin, Elizabeth Schaefer, and Sonny Reynolds all of Dugger; Amy Snodgrass of Owensville; Pam Woodard and Fred Patton of Illinois and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond O. Reynolds in May 27, 1989; four daughters, Jaretta Patton, Brenda Reynolds, infant twins, Jane and Jean Reynolds.

Funeral services will be held at the Newkirk Funeral Home in Dugger at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001 with Rev. John Booker officiating.

Burial will follow at the Dugger Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. on Friday.

Lee M. Bever
OWENSBURG - Lee M. Bever, 71, of Owensburg, passed away at 1:16 a.m., Monday, Jan. 29, 2001 at his residence.

Born Dec. 8, 1929 in Craig County, Okla, he was the son of Claude and Vivian (Younger) Bever.

He was an electronic technician at Crane NSWC, retiring in 1976.

He was a veteran of the Army Peacetime Service.

He was a member of Gosport Masonic Lodge 92. Survivors include, his wife, Mary R. (O'Bannon) Bever of Owensburg; five daughters, Victoria Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz., Karan Louise Strawbridge of Scottsdale, Ariz., Kimberly Ann Shell of Bloomfield, Rebecca Gayle Helton of Bedford, and Michele Lynn Holsapple of Mitchell; one son, Victor Martin Bever of Owensburg; three sisters, Dorothy Schmalz of Speedway, Mildred Barnett of Bedford, Norma Crane of Bedford; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be at the Owensburg Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Saturday with the Rev. Merla Craig officiating.

Burial will follow.

There will be no visitation.

Jenkins Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of the arrangements.

Lorraine Corbin
COLUMBUS - Lorraine Corbin, 79, of Columbus, passed away at 1:15 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26, 2001 at Hickory Creek Convalescent Center at Columbus.

Born April 3, 1922 in Herrin, Ill., she was the daughter of Troy and Ruth (Grasty) Morgan. She was a homemaker. Survivors include, her husband, Roy E. Corbin of Columbus; two sons, Stephen A. Corbin of Bargersville and Brian Alan Corbin of Edinburgh; one daughter, Marsha Reynolds of North Vernon; one sister, Kathern Cline of Linton; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, LaVerne Morgan. Memorial graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Linton. Welch & Cornett Linton Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials contribution may be made to the American Heart Association.
