Patricia Helen Bowman, 77, of Spencer, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Owen Valley Health Campus. She was born on August 11, 1935 in Switz City to Harry B. and Viola (Burch) Fulk. She was retired from Bio-Med of Bloomington in 2009. Patricia was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church. She enjoyed doing many different crafts in her spare time. Mrs. Bowman is survived by her husband of 42 years, Donald G. Bowman.

Betty Mae Bindhamer, 92, of Bloomington, passed away at Bell Trace Health and Living Center on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. She was born July 18, 1920 in Terre Haute to William and Lela (Powell) Prentice. She was a 1939 graduate of Wiley High School in Terre Haute. Betty worked as a typing supervisor for Columbia Records. She was a member of Lifeway Baptist Church, was secretary for Ambassadors for Christ, supported many missionaries.

Stephen E. Epp - August 21, 2012
Stephen E. Epp, 61, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012. He was born on February 10, 1951 to Robert E. and Louise (Mattingly) Epp in Indianapolis. Stephen was in maintenance at the Carmel Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing music and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Epp is survived by his son Erin Epp of Tipton; sister, Judy Epp (Beverly Camden) of Poland and three grandchildren, Julian, Madeline "Georgie", and Helena "Sunny" Epp.

Jeffrey L. Mobley, 49, of Spencer, passed away Monday, August 20, 2012 at Garden Villa in Bloomington. He was born in Ellettsville on February 3, 1963 to Loren and Mary (Bridgewater) Mobley. He was a 1982 graduate of Owen Valley High School. Jeffrey served in the United States Navy. Jeffrey worked for Boston Scientific and was a member of the Spencer American Legion, VFW, Moose, and a past member of the Spencer Conservation Club.

Bob Bevington - August 13, 2012
Bob Bevington, 80, of Spencer, passed away at his residence, Monday, August 13, 2012. He was born in Indianapolis on November 17, 1931, to Samuel C. and Zoa (Kates) Bevington. Bob was a 1949 graduate of Decatur High School. He was a Korean War Veteran. He worked at General Motors at the Truck and Bus plant as a machinist for 26 years, retiring 1996. Bob was of the Baptist faith.

Irvin Browning - August 9, 2012
Irvin Dale Browning, 63, of Spencer, passed away at his residence on Thursday, August 9, 2012. He was born in Monroe County on October 7, 1948 to Estes and Charlotte (Grubb) Browning. Irvin was a 1967 Spencer High School graduate. While a student, he was a member of the Spencer FFA. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and then joined the Indiana Nation Guard, Spencer Battery B, retiring as a Staff Sergeant, after 25 years of service.

John Arthur Gose - August 4, 2012
John Arthur Gose, 63, of Spencer, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012 at IU Health Bloomington. He was born on November 5, 1948 in Putnam County to Robert and Oleva B. (Ford) Gose. Mr. Gose retired from General Motors in Indianapolis in 2006. He was a member of the Gosport Baptist Church. John enjoyed hunting and fishing. John is survived by his wife, Joyce (Johnson) Gose.

Anderson, 69, of Spencer, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at IU Health Bloomington. He was born on December 13, 1942 to L. Peyton and Lora (Booher) Anderson in Burkesville, Ky. He was an Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Jim retired in 2007 from BG Hoadley Quarry in Bloomington.

Melvin Abney - July 24, 2012
Rev. Melvin G. Abney, 87, of Spencer, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 1012 at IU Health, Bloomington. He was born in Bell Point, Kentucky on December 31, 1924, to Green Monroe and Effie Jane (Henderson) Abney. He was a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene College. Melvin served during WWII in the Army. He was a faithful member of the Cloverdale Church of the Nazarene. Rev. Abney was a retired Church of the Nazarene minister serving for 50 years.

Linda P. Freeman - July 23, 2012
Linda P. Freeman, 73, of Spencer, passed away at her residence Monday, July 23, 2012. She was born in Lebanon, IN on May 10, 1939 to Kemper and Ida Jane (Culley) Dickerson. She was a 1957 graduate of Spencer High School. Linda retired in 2001 from Columbia House in Bloomington. Previously she had worked at Sarkes Tarzan in Bloomington and The Banner Graphic in Greencastle. She was a member of the Lifeway Baptist Church.

John Russell Blair - July 21, 2012
John Russell Blair, 75, of Spencer, passed on to be with the Lord, on Saturday, July 21, 2012. He was born in Bloomington on December 9, 1936 to William and Virginia (Royer) Blair. John was the founder of Precision Litho Service in Clearwater, Florida 28 years ago. He enjoyed golf and spending time with his family and friends. John was a good, kind, generous, Christian man. Mr. Blair is survived by his wife, Patricia (Starnes) Blair.

James Edward Frye, 61, of Spencer, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012, at the IU Health, Hospice House in Bloomington. He was born May 31, 1951 in Bloomington to Floyd Edward and Mary M. (Sparks) Frye. Jim was a 1969 graduate of Spencer High School. He was on the Spencer baseball team that went to the state final four in 1968. He was a standout short stop and second baseman. Mr. Frye worked at Stello Sign Company, Rostone.

He was born in Freedom, In, on December 17, 1941, to William Harold and Edna (Bales) Vest. Jim was a 1959 Freedom High School graduate. He retired in 2000 from General Interiors of Indianapolis.

Clarence Mackey "Mack" Clark, 71, of Spencer, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, July 4, 2012. He was born in Indianapolis on September 16, 1940 to Lewis Harvey and Marguerite Louise (Johnson) Clark. He was a 1960 graduate of Hancock Central High School of Maxwell, IN, where he played basketball and softball. Mr. Clark was an Army Veteran serving in Kaiserslautern, W. Germany.

Odus "Ode" Tucker - July 3, 2012
Odus "Ode" Lee Tucker, 83, of Spencer, passed away at 8am on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at his residence. He was born March 24, 1929 in Wayne County, KY to the late Albert and Bertha (Dodson) Tucker. He retired from Wetterau Foods. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 285 and attended the Spencer United Methodist Church. Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Margaret (Taylor) Tucker.

Theodore "Ted" McIntosh - June 24, 2012
Theodore "Ted" W. McIntosh, 80, of Spencer, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 at IU Health, Bloomington Hospital. He was born in Altoona, Pa, to Clyde W. and Viola Mae (Clapper) McIntosh on August 18, 1931. He was an Army Veteran during the Korean War, serving in Germany. Mr. McIntosh was a pattern maker for International Harvester for 31 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Spencer VFW and the UAW and IAM in Indianapolis.

Lillie A. Lockwood - June 19, 2012
Lillie A. Lockwood, 87, of Rossville, formerly of Gosport, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Milner Community Health Care Center. She was born in Steele, Missouri, to Clarence C. and Jennie (Whitfield) Ward on November 30, 1924. Lillie worked at Sarkes Tarzan and RCA both Bloomington. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Frankfort Eastern Star. Lillie enjoyed camping, fishing and quilting.

Ronald W. York, 71, of Spencer, passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 17, 2012. He was born in Newport News, Virginia on March 12, 1941 to Marion W. and Cecelia (Zepnikowski) York. His family moved to Okinawa in 1951. There he was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He graduated from Kubasaki High School in 1959. He returned to the states and attended University of Cincinnati and Xavier University.

William E. Brown - June 16, 2012
William Ernest Brown, 77, of Clarksville, formerly of Owen County, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012. He was born in Owen County to Ralph E. and George Belle (Quick) Brown on August 18, 1934. William was a 1952 Spencer High School graduate. He went on to serve in the Nation Guard until he was injured in a fall. During his career, Mr. Brown was a radio announcer at many different stations in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.

Virginia Lee Vielhaber, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 in Anderson. She was born on March 3, 1927 in Indianapolis to Raymond and Anna (Moore) Wheatcraft. Mrs. Vielhaber was a 1949 Franklin College graduate. She worked as a bookkeeper before retiring. She was a member of the United Church of God in Greenwood. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters.

Jerry was an Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He retired from G.E. in Bloomington in 2003. He attended the Solsberry Christian Church. Mr. Burks was a member of the National Gold Wing Road Riders Association.

Florence Ruth Richardson, 90, of Spencer, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Residence at McCormick's Creek. She was born April 8, 1922 to Taylor and Nellie (Payne) Terrell. She worked for GE and was a member of the Jehovah Witness. Florence enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and baking.

Preston Earl Lewis - June 5, 2012
Preston Earl Lewis, 88, of Spencer, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at IU Health Hospital in Bloomington. He was born May 26, 1924, in Bloomington to Samuel P. and Thelma F (Vest) Lewis. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from Public Service Company of Indiana after 36 years. He attended Cornerstone Church, was a former Commander of Spencer American Legion, and enjoyed hunting, was an avid fisherman.

Rose Archer - June 1, 2012
Rose E. Archer, 86, of Spencer, departed and went to be with the Lord from her residence, Friday, June 1, 2012. She was born in Rushville, IN June 5, 1925. She worked as a bookkeeper for Hoosier Supplies and Valley Electric Supply until her retirement in 1979. She was a member of the Spencer First Christian Church. Rose is survived by her daughter, Deborah Archer; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Nancy Wheatcraft - June 1, 2012
Nancy L. Wheatcraft, 69, of Freedom, passed away at her residence on Friday, June 1, 2012. She was born in Indianapolis on December 1, 1942 to Dean and Bertha Whiteman. She was a homemaker. Nancy enjoyed playing bingo and poker; she also enjoyed fishing and outdoor activities. Mrs. Wheatcraft is survived by her husband of 52 years, William "Bill" Wheatcraft.

Bette A. Thomas, 68, of Spencer, passed away at her residence on Monday, May 28, 2012. She was born in Spencer on December 6, 1943 to Bethel and Ruby (Sims) Rood. Mrs. Thomas worked at Otis Elevator in Bloomington for 27 years, retiring January 1, 1999. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, quilting, and crocheting. She dearly loved her husband, children and grandchildren, as well as her extended family members.

Herschel R. Hacker, 84, of Bloomington, passed away at his residence Tuesday, May 22, 2012. He was born in Whitehall, Indiana on July 11, 1927 to Robert H. and Mabel (Sims) Hacker. He was an Army Air Force Veteran, serving in Japan as a radio operator at the end of WWII. Herschel was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed woodworking, word seek books, and following NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon. Mr. Hacker was a professional carpenter.

Helen worked at the Spencer Clothespin Factory in her earlier years and later at the Indiana State House in the Indiana Sales Tax Department until her retirement in 1981. Mrs. Ooley was a member of the Monrovia Christian Church.

She worked for 13 years for Cook Urological. Mary was a member of Spencer First Baptist Church, Eastern Star of Brookville, the Ladies' Missionary Group (Helping Hands) at the First Baptist Church, was a volunteer at the Mark Mission Store.
