Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 2 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Pastor Jim Knight will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, February 1, and Monday, January 2, from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial donations may be made to the Owen County Humane Society or the Kidney Foundation in care of the funeral home.

Charles “Charlie” Freeman, 64, resident of Spencer, passed away at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis, Saturday, January 24, 2009 as the result of injuries sustained in a tractor accident on his farm. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, January 30, 2009 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Bro Gary Fiscus will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside cemetery with military graveside services to be provided by the Spencer American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, and from 8:30 a.m. until time of services on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Owen Valley FFA, in care of the funeral home.

Judy Ann Frye, 64, resident of Bloomington, passed away Friday, January 23, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel in Bloomington. Burial will be in Burgoon cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Howard O. Cross Sr., 78, resident of Spencer, passed away Friday, January 23, 2009 at Bloomington Hospital. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville. Rev. Mark Villinova will officiate. Military graveside rites will be given by the Spencer VFW and American Legion. Interment will be in Chambersville cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Monday, January 26, at the funeral home.

Darrell Jerome Sherfield, 64, resident of Prentice, Wisconsin, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at his home. Mr. Sherfield was cremated. No services are being planned at this time. The Heindle Funeral Home in Phillips, Wisconsin assisted the family with arrangements.

Margaret Ann Allen, 62, resident of Bloomington, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Bloomington Hospital. Funeral services were held Monday, January 19, at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville. Kathy Mishler officiated.

Helen Willoughby, 87, resident of Brownsburg, formerly of Danville, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Lighthouse Tabernacle in Gosport. Rev. J.D. Temples, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Combs cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the church at P.O. Box 68, Gosport, IN 47433. West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of arrangements.

Ethel Beatrice Brown-Wagaman, 82, resident of Spencer, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at The Residence at McCormick’s Creek east of Spencer. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville. Rev. Richard Reed will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Ridge cemetery in Brown County. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service, Thursday, at the funeral home.

Lorene Lydia Wolf, 91, passed away Monday, January 19, 2009 at 7:20 p.m. Services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 E. 8th Street, Clay City. Pastor Julie Western will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of the service, Saturday, at the funeral home.

Jerry W. Wilson, resident of Solsberry, passed away Friday evening, January 16, 2009 at Bloomington Hospital surrounded by many friends. He was 66 years old. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 24 at the Hendricksville Community Center in Hendricksville from 2-4 p.m. Day Funeral Home in Bloomington is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Eugene Merriman, 48, resident of Quincy, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2009 at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Combes cemetery. Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale was in charge of arrangements.

Jennifer Reynolds-Gonzalez, 29, resident of Largo, Florida, formerly of Bloomington, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009. Graveside services will be held at 11:15 a.m., Thursday, January 22 at Riverside cemetery in Spencer. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer.

Doreen Ruth (Benjamin) Rice, 86, resident of Bloomington, passed away Friday, January 16, 2009 at Bloomington Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 20, at First Presbyterian Church. Reverend Ben Dorr will officiate. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Monday, January 19 at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St. Rd. 37. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.

Zelma Elizabeth Gorka, 64, resident of Coal City, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2009. Services will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, January 20, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Chapel of the Chimes, 1234 Prospect, Indianapolis, IN 46203. Visitation is from 5 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Jessie Louise Ayres Jackson, resident of Spencer, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, February 20, 2009, surrounded by her family, at Bloomington Hospital. She was 90 years old. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 25 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Dr. James Hicks will officiate. Burial will follow at Hudson Hill cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, and 1-2 p.m. Wednesday.

Sally Workman, resident of Spencer, passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 at the Bloomington Hospital. She was 69 years old. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 24 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Pastor Diane Wells will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside cemetery where military rites will be preformed by the Spencer American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bloomington Hospice or the Owen County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.

Gerald Robert “Bob” Freeman, 77, resident of Spencer, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2009 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Rev. Ed Tharpe and Rev. Kevin Ooley will officiate. Burial will follow at Gross cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm, Friday, February 20. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem Separate Baptist Church.

Rosalie Weaver, resident of Gosport, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 20 at Whitaker Funeral Home in Gosport. Rev. Ken Morgan will officiate. Burial will be in Gosport cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.

David Eugene Skirvin, of Spencer, passed away at his residence Tuesday, February 17, 2009. He was 75 years of age. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Stout cemetery, which is on his family farm. Pastor Allan Lewis will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the cemetery. Services are provided by West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home.

Patricia G. Lyford, 74, of Concord, New Hampshire, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Concord Hospital in Concord, New Hampsier. A memorial service was held on Friday, February 13, in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Concord. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire assisted the family with arrangements.

Roy L. Cassady, 89, formerly of Cloverdale, passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Regency Manor in Floresville, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Cloverdale cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Stephen Reggie Johnson, 66, resident of Quincy, passed away Friday, February 13, 2009 at The Residence at McCormick’s Creek with his loving family at his side. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Spencer Presbyterian Church. Rev. Mary Jensen will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside cemetery in Spencer. Visitation will held from 4-8 p.m., Monday, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church. Memorial contribution may be made to the Spencer Presbyterian Church.

Nina Lorene (Franklin) Keep, 78, resident of Anderson, formerly of Owen County, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at Saint John’s Medical Center surrounded by her four children. Services were held Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home and Crematory in Anderson. Rev. Ned Clark officiated. Entombment followed in Anderson Memorial Park cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Helen M. Appleby, 83, resident of Cloverdale, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at the Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale. Interment will be in the Cloverdale cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, February 13, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cloverdale Church of the Nazarene, P.O. Box 869, Cloverdale, Indiana 46120 or Advocate Hospice, 2605 East Main Street, Danville, Indiana 46122.

Gerald “Gary” Hall, resident of Spencer, passed away at his residence Monday, February 10, 2009. He was 70 years old. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 13 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Pastor Kent Beckman will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, February 12. A Masonic Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday by the Spencer Lodge. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Bloomington Hospice.

Marvin Dale Wall, 65, resident of Gosport, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Bloomington Hospital. Private family services were held Sunday, February 8. Pastor Tony Brown officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to the Owen Valley Band Boosters in care of the funeral home.

Morris R. “Dick” Shields, 77, resident of Spencer, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Owen Valley Health Campus. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, February 12, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Rev. Alvin McFadden will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, and 8:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund in care of the funeral home.

Marian Agnes Edwards Pearson DeLong, resident of Mulberry, passed away February 8, 2009, at the Mulberry Health & Retirement Home. She was 89 years old and had been an Alzheimer’s resident since April of 2004. Services will be held at 3 p.m on Wednesday, February 11, at the Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel in Lafayette. Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral.

William F. Minnick, 81, former resident of Cloverdale, passed away November 22, 2008 in Tavares, Florida. A memorial service will be held at the American Legion, 636 E. Main Street, Brownsburg, Indiana on Friday, February 13, 2009, from 4-6 p.m.

William Roark, 58, resident of Brookston, Indiana, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009 at his residence. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the service at 2:00 p.m., Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Boulevard in Lafayette. James Wood will officiate. Burial will follow the service In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to his wife. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Paul H. Ratts, 86, of Newcastle, Wyoming, formerly of Gosport and Martinsville, died Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Private services are pending.

Lloyd Leonard, 92, resident of Greencastle, passed away Friday, February 6, 2009 at Hickory Creek at Sunset in Greencastle. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2009 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Hudson Hill cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Raymond Marshall “Pee-Pick” Bryant, resident of Gosport died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Bloomington Hospital. He was 89 years old. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 10 at Whitaker Funeral Home in Gosport. Rev. Nick Robertson will officiate. Entombment is to follow at Mt. Nebo cemetery in Martinsville. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday, February 9, from 4-8 p.m.

Martha Ellen Cramer Nydoske, age 62, passed away from an apparent heart attack on January 11, 2009 in Sag Harbor, Washington.

Tom Spearman, 73, resident of Gosport, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009 at his home after a battle with cancer. No funeral services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bloomingotn Hospice, in memory of Tom Spearman.

Frank E. Hayes Sr., 79, resident of Cloverdale, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle. No services are planned at this time.

Mildred L. Bohde, resident of Spencer, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Owen Valley Health Campus surrounded by their caring staff and her family. She was 87 years old. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2009 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Rev. Alvin McFadden will officiate. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m., Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Owen County Community Foundation. .

Carolyn S. Honeycutt, 65, resident of Worthington, formerly of Bowling Green and Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2009 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2009 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Rev. Gerald Flynn will officiate. Burial will follow at Gosport cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m., Wednesday, until the time of the service.

Henry Samuel Taylor, age 75, passed away Friday, February 27, 2009 in Indianapolis. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Thursday March 5 at Moore Funeral Home, 142 N. Washington Street, Brazil. Pastor Tom Baker will officiate. Burial will follow at Mannan cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 115 W. Washington St., Suite 1180-South, Indianapolis, IN 46204.

George Millard Taylor, Jr. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Gosport Baptist Church, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the family plot of Hudson Hill cemetery. Donations in honor of George may be directed to the Owen County Public Library. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Nathan Butler Funeral Home.

James “Jim” C. Minks, of Spencer, formerly of Freedom, age 75 passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Owen Valley Health Campus. He was born in Owen County, Indiana on September 30, 1933 to Lester J. and Florence R. (Graeber) Minks. Mr. Minks was a farmer, truck driver and cut firewood. He was an Army veteran. He enjoyed sports. Funeral services will be 1pm, Saturday, February 28 at West & Parrish & Pedigo funeral Home in Spencer. Visitation will be Saturday, 11am until service time. Rev. Paul shearer will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Spencer American Legion and VFW.

Ivan L. Browning, 64, resident of Spencer, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Bloomington Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, March 2 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Pastor Russell Elkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Knight Ridge cemetery in Monroe County. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m., Sunday, March 1 and Monday, March 2 from 8:30 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Bloomington Hospice or American Cancer Society.
