Sara M. Sterrett

Sara M. Sterrett, 89, Indianapolis passed away October 22, 2007. She was born January 10, 1918 in Indianapolis to the late Earnest and Bessie Pfeiffer House. Sara married Albert B. Grove Sr. and he preceded her in death on December 25, 1965. She then married Robert D. Sterrett, who preceded her in death in 1987. She retired from Arsnel Technical High School as a library clerk. Sara was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where her service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 26 with visitation there one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be at Washington Park East cemetery. Her survivors include sons Stephen (Suzanne) Grove and Albert B. (Janet) Grove, both of Indianapolis; step daughter Suzetta K. (John) Paulsen of Lexington, KY; grandchildren Trevor R. (Theresa) Grove, Racine, WI, Courtney I. (Maria) Grove, Chicago, Andrew Grove, Chicago, and Jennifer Grove, Indianapolis; great grandchildren Katherine and Nicholas Grove. She was also preceded in death by daughter Judith VanOsdol and brother Fred House. Memorial gifts have been suggested to American Cancer Society. Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center is handling arrangements.

Kenneth Emmett John

74, Indianapolis passed away Thursday, October 4, 2007. He was born July 21, 1933 in Belvidere, IL to the late Emmett and Eva John. He married Etta Imogene Newlen June 28, 1958 In McConnelsville, OH and she survives. Kenneth was an U.S. Navy veteran and later was employed 30 years by Fluor Daniel Corp., retiring 1997 as an inspector. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 25 F.& A.M. in Athens, OH. Survivors include his son Chris John, Indianapolis; daughters Cindy (Andy) Evans, Portland, OR, and Valerie (Chris) Scherrer, Indianapolis; and grandchildren Bryan John, Thomas, Daniel, and Whitney Scherrer, and Alexandra Evans. He was also preceded in death by his brother Robert John. A memorial service will conducted 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 13 in Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with a visitation gathering two hours prior to the service at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been suggested to Community Hospital of Indiana Hospice, 1500 North Ritter Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219.

James Emory Eads

90, Indianapolis passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2007. He was born July 17, 1917 in Junction City, KY to the late Simon and Ina Lee Prows Eads. He married Elizabeth Marie Matthews October 16, 1945 in Indianapolis who preceded him in death April 5, 1990. James was an U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a third generation printer. He founded Triangle Printing in 1947 and retired in 1990. He was a member of Southport Christian Church. Service 12:00 P.M., Saturday, October 6 in Southport Christian Church with visitation two hours prior to the service at the church. Survivors include his son Jim (Nina) Eads, Indianapolis; sister Becky (Joe) Walls, Avon Park, FL; grandchildren Jeanette (Leonard) Ray and Eric Eads both of Indianapolis. He was also preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Memorial contributions have been suggested to The Living Memorial at Southport Christian Church. Arrangements handled by Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center.

Jewel C. Holcomb

82, Indianapolis, passed Tuesday, September 25, 2007. Survivors include her husband Oscar F. Holcomb; daughter Mary R. Julian; son Franklin C. Holcomb; sister Nina M. Shear; brothers Kenneth and Charles Lashbrook. Services 7:00 PM, Friday, September 28, 2007 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation two hours prior to service. Interment Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Julian Miles Littlejohn

Baby Julian Miles Littlejohn, son of Kaleb and Amanda Littlejohn was born and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. He was born at 9:35 am. and was 20 inches long and weighed 6 pounds 1ounce.
Baby Julian is survived by his Dad and Mom, Kaleb and Amanda, Edinburgh; brother Chase Littlejohn, Franklin; maternal grandparents, Richard and Tonya Turner, Edinburgh; paternal grandparents, Elvin (Mary) Littlejohn, Edinburgh and Leah (Kenny) Harrison, Franklin; maternal great grandparents Ray and Bobbie Turner, Edinburgh; paternal great grandparents, Leonard and Beulah Littlejohn, Edinburgh; aunts Calyn Turner, Bloomington and Danielle Harrison, Franklin; and uncles Trevin Littlejohn, Edinburgh and Mark Harrison, Franklin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm., Wednesday, September 26, 2007 in Christ Fellowship Assembly with visitation from 11:00 am until the service at the church. Baby Julian's father Kaleb will serve as his pallbearer. Interment Rest Haven cemetery.

Brandon Robinson Wampler

Brandon Robinson Wampler, 26, of Indianapolis passed away September 9, 2007. He was born December 5, 1980 in Indianapolis . Brandon was an avid sports, Colts and nascar fan. He was employed at AT&T in sales. Survivors include his mother, Denise Robinson, Beech Grove; father and step mother Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Wampler, Bloomington; sisters Natasha MarieWampler, St. Louis and Tayler Brianne Wampler, Bloomington, niece Olivia Rose-Lynn Wampler, grandmother Valene Robinson, Pershing, uncles and aunts Lloyd (Faye) Bixler, Columbus, OH and Jeffrey (Peggy) Robinson, Pershing, several cousins and many friends. Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 13 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation there 4 - 8p.m., Wednesday, September 12. Burial will be in Glen Cove cemetery, Knightstown.

John "Jack" Choat

John Patrick 'Jack' Choat, 85, Greenwood passed away Monday, August 27, 2007. He was born July 1, 1922 in Indianapolis to the late John Benton and Agnes Theresa Ward Choat. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and later was employed as a truck driver for Bearings, Inc. for over ten years, retiring in 1988. Jack was a founding member of American Legion Post No. 355 in Indianapolis. He is survived by his sons Patrick (Mary) Choat, Greenfield, and James Edward Choat, Diego Garcia; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister Catherine Tucher. Services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 1, 2007 in Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation 4:00 - 8:00 PM, Friday, August 31. Interment Washington Park East cemetery.

Jennifer Jill Loomis

Jennifer Jill (Wonn) Loomis, 45, Indianapolis passed away July 14, 2007. She was born December 12, 1961 in Shelbyville. Jill married Gene Loomis on April 18, 1987 in Indianapolis and he survives. Other survivors include her mother Linda (Shutters) Williams of Indianapolis; father and step mother Dan (Jane) Wonn of West Newton; brother Andy Wonn of Olney, IL; half sister Emily (Jeremy) Hensley of Indianapolis and half brother Steven Wonn of Phoenix. She was a 1980 Southport High School graduate, attended Arizona State University and was a graduate of IUPUI with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Psychology as well as an Associate degree in Business Administration. She was a member of Hoosier Auto Racing Fans.
A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21 at New Hope Church, 5307 Fairview Road, Greenwood. Jill's wish would be that the donor of a memorial gift plant a perennial flower in her memory. Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center is handling arrangements.

Pearl Wallace

Pearl Wallace, 96 of Beech Grove passed away February 15, 2007. She was born June 19, 1910 in Terre Haute to the late George and Mary Edwards McDaniel. Pearl married Alvin L. Wallace on April 28, 1928 in Terre Haute and he preceded her in death on March 3, 1983.
She was employed five years in housekeeping at Sears, Roebuck & Co., downtown retiring in 1972. Pearl was a member of Calvary Tabernacle where her service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 19. Visitation will be 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 18 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center and also one hour prior to the service at the church Monday. Burial will be at Floral Park cemetery. Memorial gifts have been suggested to Campaign Calvary, c/o Calvary Tabernacle, 902 Fletcher Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46203. Her survivors are daughters Peggy Haskins of Beech Grove and Alberta Mix of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, one great grandchild, eight brothers and three sisters.

Clarence Paul

Clarence E.a€¯Blondiea€¯ Paul 82, Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2007. He was born April 13, 1924 at Waverly. Clarence married Patricia M. White on October 23, 1999 at Indianapolis, who survives. Other survivors include his loving and caring extended daughters Rebecca Harmon, Indianapolis, Kathy (Ron) Stephens, Indianapolis and Judi Craig, Detroit; their children Samatha (Kyle) Lovins, Abigail (Michael) Homer, Jordan Craig, Jeff Harmon (deceased) and Mike Myers (deceased); their grandchildren Tyler and Michaela Lovins and Owen Lovins (deceased); nephews Harold Spencer and Maura Paul; sister-in-law Dell Parker; brothers-in-law Ray Adams and Ernie Mader.
Clarence was a self employed tool and die maker retiring in 1986. He was a WWII Army veteran and a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 14 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation two hours prior to the service. Interment at Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Glenns Valley.

Alma Showecker

Alma L. Showecker, 68 of Indianapolis passed away February 9, 2007. She was born March 17, 1938 in Beech Grove to the late Harold W. and Grace L. Masters Pease. Alma married G. Ramon Showecker on October 16, 1954 in Indianapolis and he preceded her in death on July 13, 2002. She was employed twenty-one years in housekeeping and maintenance at Holiday Inn Southeast retiring in 2000. Her survivors include daughters Peggy (Dan) Johnson of Beech Grove, Ramona (Joe) Smallman of Indianapolis, Grace (Randy) Hall of Princeton; sons Robert (Linda) Showecker of Indianapolis, Ramon (Teresa) Showecker II of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; companion Jim Coffman of Indianapolis; sisters Norma Jean Lovelace of Beech Grove, Delores Helen Showecker of Indianapolis. She was also preceded in death by daughter Mary Showecker and brother Joe Pease. Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 13 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation 4:00 a€“ 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 12 at the Mortuary. Burial will be in New Crown cemetery. Memorial gifts have been suggested to American Cancer Society.

William D. Bowman

William D. Bowman, 83 of Greenwood passed away February 5, 2007. He was born June 13, 1923 in Tompkinsville, KY to the late Herbert and Vera Norman Bowman. Bill married Maudie Karnes on August 15, 1959 in Indianapolis and she survives. Other survivors include step daughters Nellie (James) Werk of Bloomington and Ida Gosben of Indianapolis; six step grandchildren; many step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren; sisters Lorraine Heston and Ruth Hodges both of Tompkinsville, KY and brother Eugene Bowman. He was also preceded in death by sister Nina Nutter; brothers Jerry, Enoch and Ozach Bowman. He was employed forty years at Uniroyal retiring in 1983 from the inner tubes and packing department. Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 9 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 8 at the Mortuary. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Dorrell Byers

Dorrel E. Byers, 73 of Indianapolis passed away February 5, 2007. He was born April 8, 1933 in Delta, CO to the late Benjamin A. and Nina M. Purcell Byers. Dorrel married Janice L. Clark on August 23, 1958 in Indianapolis and she survives. Other survivors include daughter Melinda (Lyndall) Johnson of Greenwood; son Kerry (Shelly) Byers of Yukon, OK; grandchildren Benjamin, Dustin and Katie Johnson and Nicholas Byers; daughter-in-law Ginger Byers of Delta, CO.; brothers Bob and Harold Byers. He was also preceded in death by a son Terry Byers. He graduated from Olathe High School, Olathe, CO in 1953. He was employed thirty-four years as an ice cream operator for Crossroads Dairy retiring in 1994. Dorrel was a member of The General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn of Indianapolis, where he was also an Elder. Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 8 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation 4:00 a€“ 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 7 at the Mortuary. Burial will be at New Crown cemetery.

Carole Anne Rueff

Carole Anne Rueff 63, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away Sunday at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was born April 1, 1943 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis to Herschel William Garner and Dorothy Armilda Arthur Garner McClain, they preceded her in death. She married John R. Rueff on April 17, 1966 at Bargersville First Christian Church. She was a 1961 graduate of Center Grove High School where she was active in sports and choir. She was a member of Bargersville First Christian Church where she had previously served as a elder, a former member of the church pulpit and worship committee, choir member, and a former chairperson of the membership and evangelism, and mission and outreach committees. She had also been a meal coordinator for the church. She was a member of the cruisers. She had been a cafeteria cook for Douglas McArthur Elementary School and Abraham Lincoln Elementary School in the Perry Township School System from 1978 till retiring in 2001 for 23 years. Survivors include her husband John R. Rueff of Greenwood, a son Rob W. Rueff and his wife Wendy (Baldwin) Rueff of Franklin, grandsons Andrew L. Rueff, Ryan T. Rueff, Luke D. Rueff, Micah J. Rueff, a brother Bill A. Garner and his wife Lee of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a niece Amy L. Garner White of New York City, New York. The Reverend Roger Gifford will conduct a service Thursday at 10:30 at Bargersville First Christian Church 101 South East Street Bargersville. Friends may call Wednesday 4-8PM at the church. Burial will be at Second Mount Pleasant cemetery Franklin. Memorial contributions can be made to the Bargersville First Christian Church 101 South East Street Bargersville, Indiana 46106. Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 7602 Madison Avenue Indianapolis, Indiana are handling the arrangements.

J. Clark Stuart

J. Clark Stuart, 89 of Indianapolis passed away February 4, 2007. He was born January 31, 1918 in Kokomo to the late Robert F. and Anna Clark Stuart. Clark married Kathryn F. Elston on February 15, 1941 in Indianapolis, and she preceded him in death on July 30, 2002. He had been co-owner of J. Clark Stuart Agency and previously was employed for Shuster Coal & Oil and Cummins Engine Co. He was a Navy WWII veteran serving with the Pacific Fleet on the USS Vincennes as a machinist first mate. Memberships include Southport Lodge No. 270 F. & A.M., American Legion, VFW and BPOE. Clark attended Edgewood Elementary School, Southport High School and Indiana University. He graduataed from Shelbyville High School. His hobbies were golf and an avid reader of history.
His services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 7 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with visitation there 11:30 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial gifts have been suggested to Keenan-Stahl Boys and Girls Club, 1949 E. Troy Ave., Indianapolis 46203. Survivors include daughter Jerri (Robert) Glant of Indianapolis; sons John (Neva) Stuart of Burdett, KS, Phillip Stuart of Madison; grandchildren John Robert Stuart, Jacob Joshua Stuart, Eric Glant, Jeffrey Glant, Genie Taylor; five great grandchildren and sister Mildred Reed of Greenwood. He was also preceded in death by brother Raymond B.Stuart and sister Leatha Smith.

Robert Ulrey

73, Greenwood, passed away February 1, 2007. He was born June 22, 1933 in Indianapolis to the late Howard Sr, and Rowena Yant Ulrey. He married Jody Haines Ulrey who preceded him in death 1960. He later married Marilyn Frost Ulrey who preceded him in death 1990.Robert’s memberships include Southport Masonic Lodge #270 F&AM, American Legion Greenwood Post #252, VFW Greenwood Post # 5864 and Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Indiana Bell for 42 years retiring 1993 as a cable repairman. Services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 6, 2007 in Mt. Pleasant Christian Church with visitation 4:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, February 5 in Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Survivors include his beloved friend and companion Sandra J. Gopp, Greenwood; son Mark (Jamie) Ulrey, Greenwood; daughters Kathryn (Royce) Rhea, Franklin, TN, Lisa (Steve) Edwards, Greenwood, and Lori Ulrey, Phoenix, AZ; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother Howard Ulrey, Jr. Memorial Contribution have been suggested to American Cancer Society.
