William Franklin Ream
March 31, 1920 - January 29, 2004
William Franklin Ream, 83 of Center Point died January 29, 2004 at 7:30am in his home.
He was born Wednesday March 31, 1920 in Harrison Township, Clay County, Indiana. He was first-born son of Albert and Nancy Florence Steiner Ream. He moved with his parents and sister to Center Point in 1926. Physically impaired since birth he was of an industrious nature. He worked for many of the residents of Center Point and the surrounding area. He was Custodian of the Center Point School for many years. He also did custodial work at the Ashboro School. He supported the Center Point United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening and yard work. He also loved good music and enjoyed conversation with his family and friends. He was devoted to his family.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Elsa Louraine in infancy, Shirley Schlegel in 1960 and Jane A. Schuster in 1965. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his two brothers, Donald L. Ream and Ronald K. Ream of Center Point; two nephews, William F. Schlegel of Newport, N.C. and Larry S. Schlegel and his wife Stella of Coal City; one niece Rita D. Kennedy and her husband Mike O. Kennedy of Richland, WA. two great nephews Christopher and Nathan Kennedy of Richland WA.; one great niece Rebecca A. Truax and her children and her children Casey and Kylee Truax of Coal City, IN.
Services will be held Monday at 1:00pm at French Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Lafko officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove cemetery in Clay City. Visitation will be Monday from 11-1.

Christian Dawn Hamman
May 25, 1980 - March 27, 2004
Christian Dawn Hamman, 23, of Center Point died Saturday, March 27, 2004 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born Mary 25, 1980 the daughter of Pam Knight Hamman. She worked as a cashier at Rally's in Brazil.
She is survived by her mother Pamela Hamman of Brazil; grandmother Edith Knight of Brazil; boyfriend Mike Eaglin of Center Point; two brothers Stephen Hamman and Mike Hamman of Brazil; one sister Amanda Gouckenour and husband Steve of Brazil.
At the request of family she will be cremated. Miller Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.

Sondra E. Anderson
May 02, 1936 - March 30, 2004
Sondra “Sonnie” Anderson, 67, of Brazil, passed away March 30, 2004 at 6:51 A M in her residence. She was born May 2, 1936 in Springfield, Ohio to John Edward and Juanita Edelene Nicison Buzard. She was an L.P.N. for many years at the Clay County Health Center, in Brazil and Foley Health Care in Foley, Alabama. Her parents and a daughter Bambi L. Yocom Hutchison preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, John S. Yocom and his wife Jane of Brazil, Jeffrey W. Anderson of Plainfield, and Kevin J. Anderson and his wife Sandra of Foley, Alabama; a son-in-law, Kyle Hutchison of Poland: two sisters, Shirley Mogan and her husband James of Gulf Shores, Alabama and Kristy Buzard of Indianapolis: six grandchildren, Scott Yocom, Ry Hutchison, Mark Hendrickson, Nedra Bridgewater and Sara and Annette Anderson, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Noon, Thursday, April 1, 2004 in the Lawson Slack Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Alstott officiating. Visitation from 10 AM until time of service. Burial will be in Clearview cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 201 N. Meridian Street, Brazil or to Southern Care, Inc., 2495 Walnut Street Pike, Suite 100, Bloomington, Indiana, 47401.

Adam Henderson Blakely
October 09, 1987 - April 09, 2004
Adam Henderson Blakely, 16 of Reelsville, In. died April 9, 2004 at his residence. He had battled cancer for the past two years.
He was born October 9, 1987 in Indianapolis, the son of Raymond Blakely and Ginger White Barnett.
He attended Reelsville Elementary School and was currently a sophomore at South Putnam High School. He collected swords and knives. He enjoyed fishing and swimming. He spent time playing video games and being with friends and family. He was baptized on April 5, 2004. He was well known for his wonderful smile.
He is survived by his father, Raymond Blakely of Greenfield; his mother and step father Ginger and Roman Barnett of Reelsville; one grandfather Bedford White of Greencastle; two sisters Anna Wilson of Reelsville, Cathy Rigby; one brother Tony Blakely of Greenfield; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and three special friends, Nick Cooper, Scott Bunten and Cody Wood.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00am at Miller Memorial Chapel with Robert Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Boone-Hutchison cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 and again Tuesday prior to services.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of the Wabash Valley. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Della Ragan Hutto
Della Ragan Hutto of Bloomington died early Friday morning, February 18, 2011 at Bloomington Hospital at the age of 62.
Della was born on August 20, 1948 in Bloomington to Leon and Evelyn (Fox) Ragan. She was employed by Indiana University in the food service department for over 18 years. She was a member of AMVETS Bloomington post 2000. Della enjoyed spending time with friends and family and was very well known for her joke and story telling to her grandchildren. She was especially fond of bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Connie Ragan, and brother, Hugh Ragan.
Della is survived by her daughters, Kellie Todd and Staci Smith; sons, Tom Allgood and Christopher Stillions (Melannie) all of Bloomington; grandsons, Michael Bowmer, Tyler Stillions, Gabriel Stillions, and Luke Stillions; granddaughters, Nicole Bowmer and Haley Allgood; great-grandson, Kane Fishel; siblings, David Ragan of Bloomington, George Ragan (Kathy) of TX, Mike Ragan (Kathy) of Gosport, Leon Butch Ragan (Carline) of AL, and Robin Shannon (Fred) of Bloomington and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 12:00 noon with Pastor Don Wayne officiating. Burial is to follow at Simpson Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jack Raymond Sneddon
March 11, 1929 - April 10, 2004
Jack Raymond Sneddon, 75, of Knightsville, died Saturday evening April 10, 2004 at Union Hospital.
He was born in Knightsville on March 11, 1929, the son of William A. and Ina Lunsford Sneddon. He graduated from Van Buren High School Class of 1947. As a teenager, he worked on the railroad in the summer. After graduation, he worked at the “Old Dust Bowl” factory and the Arketex Ceramic Corporation. In addition, he served in the Army for two years stationed in California, Japan and Korea with the HQ Co 24th division and became a corporal. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and Bronze Star Attachment, United Nations Service Medal and medal issued by the Korean Government on the 50th anniversary of the war.
He retired from the US Penitentiary of Terre Haute in 1983 after 28 years as a correctional officer and counselor. He then worked for Dusty Rhodes Ford for 17 years and as a buyer/seller at the auto auctions in Indianapolis. His most recent employment was driving cars for many of his friends in the used car business.
He served on the Knightsville Town Board for eight years and was currently serving of the K& H Sewer Board of Knightsville.
He was a member of the Knightsville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Joan Gallez Sneddon, whom he married August 26, 1950; children: Emily Maffioli of Terre Haute, Scott Sneddon and wife Debbie of Harmony, Cheryl French and husband Ron of Brazil, and Garry Sneddon and wife Jackie of Knightsville; grandchildren, Jamie Elwell and husband Scott, Lisa Pearson and husband Brian, Tina Miller and husband Bob, Ron Maffioli, Jr. and Toni Moore and husband John. Also surviving are: eleven great-grandchildren, one sister Norma Vandiver and husband Melvin of Indianapolis; two brothers, Paul Sneddon and wife Annabelle of Brazil, Jim Sneddon and wife Carolyn of Carrollton, GA; 3 sisters in law; Jean Sneddon Martin and Harriet Sneddon and Mary Ann Phillips and husband Bob; brother in law Mack L. McCullough; and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Bill Sneddon, Ken Sneddon and Evelyn Rissler.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00am at French Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Aselage officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview cemetery, with military graveside rites provided by American Legion Post #2 and VFW #1127. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society of the charity of their choice.

Josephine L. Morris
November 29, 1907 - April 20, 2004
Josephine “Jo” L. Morris, 96 of Brazil died April 20, 2004 at 9:55pm at Holly Hills Healthcare facility. She had been a resident there several years.
She was born November 29, 1907 in Owen County the daughter of George I. Morris and Lydia Grace Sommers Morris. She graduated from Clay City High School and also from Indiana State University. She taught school at Patricksburg for 7 years, and then moved to Anderson In. She taught elementary grades for the Anderson City School for 33 years. She moved back to Clay County in 1980 to be near her family. She had been a member of the First Brethren Church in Clay City. She enjoyed church missionary work, writing poetry and the study of birds. She had several poetry pieces published and was an accomplished musician, playing the piano and organ.
She is survived by her brothers; Roscoe Morris of Brazil, Ray Morris of Vincennes and one brother in law, Marvin Spear of Clay City; 7 nieces; Frances Hoskins, Judy Payne, Janice Persinger, Carolyn Sue Sievers, Joyce Seabury, Rebecca Lock and, Randa Trammell; two nephews, Steve Morris and Brian Morris; several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Juanita Ezra, Geneva McClure, and Mary Spear; two brothers in infancy; and her good friend Donna Lewis.
Services will be held Saturday at 1:00pm at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Payne officiating. Burial will follow at Beech cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11-1.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimers's Association PO Box 547, Columbus, IN 47202-9902 or the church of choice.

James F. Stearley
October 29, 1933 - April 23, 2004
James F. Stearley, 70, of Brazil, died April 23, 2004 at Union Hospital.
He was born October 29, 1933, the son of Ernest D. and Alice M. Kord Stearley; and the husband of Patty Bedwell Stearley. Jim enjoyed woodworking, computers, gardening, barbecuing, and farming but most of all spending time with family.
He was a member of the American Legion and the St. Johns United Church of Christ.
He was proceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife Patty; one son Tim and wife Kim Stearley of Brazil; one daughter Lynn Lawson and husband Terry of Brazil; one brother Gerald and JoAnn Stearley of Brazil; sisters – in – law Janice and Larry Clark of Center Point and Brenda and Larry Knight of Brazil; and four grand children, Krista Stearley, Trent Stearley, Kaitlyn Lawson and Brock Lawson.
Services will be 11:00 am Tuesday April 27, 2004 at French Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Schory and Pastor Tony Alstott officiating. Burial will follow at St. Johns cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Leona Ruth Butt
February 13, 1919 - November 11, 2002
Leona Ruth Butt, 83, of Center Point died November 11, 2002 at 3:00 pm at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born February 13, 1919 in Bridgeton, IN the daughter of Dora and May Bradford Everhart. She graduated from Brazil High School, and married Edward T. Butt. He preceded her in death September 15, 1984. She worked for a cook for Miller and Parrott in Terre Haute, Indiana State University and for Macanell Nursing Home in Center Point.
She was a member of the Center Point OES, the Brazil Moose Lodge, a lifetime member of the VFW Auxillary and the Ashboro United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed crafts, quilting and sewing. She was also an accomplished baker and made several wedding cakes. In her lifetime she had learned how to do many home maintainence chores and tasks, and she enjoyed the challenge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Ted Everhart and Bernard Everhart and a daughter Rosemary Mitchell.
She is survived by her children Marjorie Evans and husband Bob of Brazil, Shandra Moss of Brazil, Jack Butt and wife Sharon of Linton, James Butt and wife Peggy of Center Point, and Joseph butt and wife Judy of South Carolina. Sixteen grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; one brother Merle Everhart and wife Thelma of Benton Harbon, MI.
Services will be held Thursday, November 14, 2002 at 11:00 am at French Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Slavens officiating. Burial will follow in Ashboro cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 13, 2002 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ashboro United Methodist Church, 202 S. Cherry, Center Point, IN 47840. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Myra June Hain
January 14, 1944 - July 15, 2004
Myra June Hain, 63, Cooper Towers, died at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, July 15, in Regional Hospital, Terre Haute.
She had been a Brazil resident since 1983. A semi-truck driver, she had been employed for Central Trucking of Edinburg, IN, and several other companies.
Born on January 14, 1941, in Centralia, IL, her parents were Rolland H. Devor, Sr., and Mildred D. Crocker Devor. She was a 1958 graduate of Salem (IL) Community High School.
Surviving are five sons, Edwin Sanders, Brazil; Danny Sanders, Centralia; twins Gary and Larry Abernathy, both of Bluford, IL, and Joseph O'Dell, Brazil; three brothers, Rev. Rolland H. Devor, Jr., Donovan, IL; Duane Devor, Centralia; and Robert Devor, Kell, IL; two sisters, Dolores Devor, Clinton, Ark., and Esther Devor, Centralia; twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Special friend Everett Oswalt of Brazil.
Local visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday in Miller Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, with services at 7:00 p.m., in Garnier and Sons Funeral Home, Centralia.
Cremation and burial will follow at Centralia.

Judith K. Erfft
November 14, 1946 - July 18, 2004
Judith K. Erfft, 57 of Center Point, died July 18, 2004 at 11:20am at St. Vincent Clay Hospital following complications from cancer. She was born November 14, 1946 in West Terre Haute, the daughter of Leo and Louise Hedden LeClercq. She attended Valley High School and West Vigo High School. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Terre Haute.
Judy last worked as a shift manager at Burger King in Brazil. She had worked in the past at Columbia Records, at Riley Custom Meats, and also managed L&K; Restaurant.
She enjoyed bowling, boating and camping. She was a loving wife and a wonderful aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her mother Louise Topolski of Terre Haute; her husband Paul Erfft, whom she married December 18, 1964, of Center Point; one sister Mary Evans of Terre Haute; four brothers, Leo LeClercq, Floyd LeClercq and wife Sherry, and Daniel LeClercq and wife Wendy all of Terre Haute, and David LeClercq and wife Sally of North Port, FL.; one brother in law, Robert Harkness of Terre Haute; two adopted grandchildren, Jayci Bryan and Haley Bryan; many nieces and nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father, and one sister Eva Harkness.
Services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 pm at French Funeral Home with Sister Connie Dramer officiating. Burial will follow at Centerpoint cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11-1.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Vista Care Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
