Irene Cooper, 85 of Brazil died September 20, 2004 at 12:10pm at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility.
She was born December 16, 1917 in Clay County the daughter of John E. Martin and Nellie Pearl Miller Martin. She was married to Frank Russell Cooper; he preceded in death in 1956. She worked in housekeeping at Indiana State University until her retirement in 1987.
She is survived by her two daughters and sons in law, Carolyn and Lowell Garrigus of Clarksville, TN and Phyllis and Thomas James of Brazil; 10 grandchildren, Zona Garrigus, Marla Norris, Felicia Face, Leeann Long, Susan Sutherlin, Larry Cooper, Jr., Laura Sneed, Kimberly Montague, Parry James, Jayme James; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; one sister Norma “Bonnie” Day of Brazil; one sister in law, Betty Martin of Brazil; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Larry Frank Cooper and Bruce Russell Cooper; two sisters, Opal Brossman, and Mildred McCallister; 6 brothers, Lawrence Martin, Melvin Martin, John R. Martin, Harold Martin, Bob Martin, and Fred Martin.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11:00am at French Funeral Home with Rev. Rebecca Zelensky. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8pm and again Wednesday prior to services. Pallbearers will be Gary Norris, Ronnie Face, Mike Montague, Vince Long, Carl Sutherlin, and Butch Sneed.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in her honor to the Brazil Public Library. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Reva J. Brewster
November 29, 1935 - December 10, 2004
Reva James Brewster, 69, of Greencastle, died December 10, 2004 at Putnam County Hospital.
She was born November 29, 1935 in Clay County the daughter of William Henry and Rose Bemis James. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, bowling, and most of all shopping. She has been married to her husband Curtis since December 5, 1953.
She is survived by her husband; one son Guy Clayton Brewster of Greencastle; one daughter Patty Gardner and husband Dave of Greencastle. Two sisters: Hazel Burkley of Terre Haute, and Eva Neese of Dixon Missouri. Two brothers Billy James of Brazil, and John James of Brazil. Four grandchildren and one great grandson.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, one son Rocky Brewster; three sisters Elizabeth Borden Thorton, Ann Lovett, and Alice Bullock; and one brother Ben James.
Graveside services will be at 1:00pm Monday December 13, 2004 at Forest Hill in Greencastle with Rev. Steve Williams and Rev. Frederick Hunt officiating.

Verna D. Ammerman
March 01, 1907 - November 06, 2004
Verna D. Ammerman, 97 of Pendleton, Indiana and formerly of Clay City passed away November 6, 2004 in the Rawlins House Nursing Facility in Pendleton. She was a homemaker. Her parents, Isaiah and Minnie Griffith Duncan, a son Clifford H. Ammerman, a daughter, Anna Ammerman, sisters Ethel Dickey, Clara Farmer, Bessie Ratzer and Tressie Fair, brothers Raymond “Pete”, Clifford and Chester Duncan and 2 infant brothers preceded her in death. A sister-in-law Naomi Duncan of Clay City and many nieces and nephews survive Mrs. Ammerman.
Services will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 9, in the Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with visitation from 10:00 am until services. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Bryonnah Nicole Head
October 02, 2002 - May 03, 2003
Bryonnah Nicole Head, age 7 months, died unexpectedly May 3, 2003.
She was born October 2, 2002 in Bloomington the daughter of Melissa Head and Robert McCelland.
She is survived by her parents; a sister, Joni McCelland; grandparents, Rhonda Edwards, Gerald and Mary Head of Coalmont, and Connie and Robert McCelland; one aunt, Alicia Bault and husband Paul; one nephew Antonio Bault and other extended family.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at 12:30 pm at French Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Calcutta cemetery.

Dr. Stanley E. Froderman
April 24, 1931 - September 12, 2002
Stanley E. Froderman, M.D., 71, of Terre Haute, formerly of Brazil died September 12, 2002 at his residence. He was born April 24, 1931 in Wilmore, Kentucky the son of Carl and Jessie Stevens Froderman. He graduated from Hall High School in 1948 in Grays Knob, Kentucky and also attended Ashland Senior High. He attended Asbury College and Ashland Jr College. He served in the US Navy from 1950-1954. He was a radio operator on the ship. He came to the Wabash Valley and graduated from Indiana State University in 1957. He graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1961, then went on to a four year surgical residency in Indianapolis.
On September 17, 1954 he married Lillyan "Tootsie" Turner. She preceded him in death March 4, 2001.
Dr. Froderman and Dr. Conrad established their medical office in Brazil starting in 1966 and retiring in 2000. He practiced general surgery and general medicine throughout those years.
He was a member of the World Gospel Church since its inception. The church was founded by his father. He was a member of the El Shaddai Emmaus Community.
Survivors include, two daughters and three sons, Vanessa Atkinson of Brazil, Lynda Tomhave and husband Dan of Calhoun, GA, Fred Froderman, DVM, and wife Trish of Brazil, Pastor Ted Froderman and wife Cheryl of Brazil, and Tim Froderman of Chicago; ten grandchildren, Rachael Purdy and husband Tim, Ben Atkinson, Abby Stevens and husband Shane, Katie Snurkowski and husband Matthew, Jessie Froderman, Cassy Froderman, Sadie Froderman, Bonnie Froderman, Beau Froderman, and Callie Froderman; two great-grandchildren, Kyndall Lillyan Stevens and Noah Daniel Snurkowski; one sister Doyne Clark and her husband Rev. Gene Clark of Findlay, OH and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister and brother-in-law, June and Milton Bradley.
Services will be Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at 2:00 pm at the World Gospel Church, 900 Gardendale, Terre Haute, IN with Dr. William Coker officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 17, 2002 from 4-8 pm at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave, Brazil. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park located in Terre Haute, IN.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his honor to the local Crisis Pregnancy Center, 20 N. Meridian, Brazil, IN 47834 or the Gideon Living Memorial Bible. Envelopes will be availabe at the funeral home and church.

Anna Maxine Hoffman
July 22, 1928 - November 1, 2002
Anna Maxine Hoffman, 74, of Brazil died November 1, 2002 at 4:15 am at her residence following an extended illness. She was born July 22, 1928 in Brazil the daughtr of Everett and Lena McLaughlin Miller. She attended Brazil High School. June 15, 1947 she married Lowell M. Hoffman, he preceded her in death on December 17, 1996.
She was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church. She was active in the Brazil OES #80, Daughter of the Nile Badoura Temple #23 and the Order of the Amaranth. She was a homemaker, seamstress, and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lowell Hoffman, and a sister Arlene Hoffman in childhood.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Debbie Hoffman of St. Louis and a daughter and son-in-law Claudia and Jeff Duncan of Jesup, GA; four grandchildren, Heather Stark and husband Randy, Stephanie Hoffman all of St. Louis, Jennifer Duncan and Jonathan Duncan of Jesup, GA; two sister-in-laws, Nina Cagle of Brazil and Doris Hoffman of Indianapolis.
Funeral Services will be Monday, November 4, 2002 at 11:00 am at French Funeral Home with Rev. Marshall Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Clearview cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November 3, 2002 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Vista Care Hospice or the the Epworth Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Ella Jane Iacinuo
May 10, 1939 - October 9, 2002
Ella Jane Iacinuo, 63, of Brazil died October 9, 2002 at 5:39 am at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Clay County on May 10, 1939 the daughter of Joseph and Esther Crague Mooney. She was a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed crocheting and needle work.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank B. Iacinuo, Jr. and a brother Thomas Mooney.
She is survived by her children, Frank Iacinuo and wife Teresa of Brazil, Cynthia Breneman and husband Jeff, Julia Parish and husband Ron all of Merriville, Kathy Morlan and husband Jim of Brazil and Frankie Brooks and husband Barry of Sherriville, IN; 10 grandchildren, Sydnee Iacinuo, Dominic Iacinuo, Kimberly Parish, Ronnie Parish, Samantha Breneman, Jennifer Babcock, Joshus Iancinuo, Barry Brooks, Christina Brooks, and Sara Jane Brooks; one sister Joan Millsop of Crown Point and one brother J.J. Mooney of Brazil.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, October 12, 2002 at 10:00 am at Annunciation Church in Brazil with Father Joseph Kern officiating. Burail of ashes will take place following the mass at Diamond cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday, October 11, 2002 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Lawson-Slack Funeral Home, 354 E National Ave, Brazil, IN 47834. Arrangements were handled by French Funeral Home.

Roger A. DeMoss
Roger A. DeMoss, 49, of Brown Lane in Gosport, passed away peacefully in his home Sunday, January 30, 2011, in the arms of his wife & with family at his side.
Born May 16th, 1961, Roger was the son of Anita L. (Greene) Fulford and John A. DeMoss. He grew up in California, Connecticut, and Indiana, attending Bloomington North High School where he competed in football and track. He joined the Navy, becoming a corpsman serving with the 1st Marine Division 1st Medical Battalion. He served in El Salvador and was awarded the Meritorious Mast, Certificate of Commendation, and Humanitarian ribbon from the USMC at Camp Pendleton. Rogers experiences and accomplishments after the military are too many to mention. From musician to graphic artist to teacher & beloved husband, he always lived life to the fullest.
Roger had many pursuits and passions. He was an accomplished artist, writer, and musician who found great joy in creation. He had a thirst for learning, especially history and politics. A true patriot, he combined a love of his country with a healthy dose of informed dissent. His greatest joy was being in the company of his wife, friends, and family, particularly in the paradise he had found and created at his home.
Roger is survived by his wife, Teresa (Wall) DeMoss; mother, Anita L. (Greene) Fulford (Ralph, deceased); father, John A. DeMoss (Karen); brother, Gary DeMoss (Barbara); brother, Colin Sharp (Tammi); daughters, Michelle (Brad) and Danielle (Dean); son, Shawn; two grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins; and many loving friends.
A memorial service will be held at Liberty Methodist Church Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 11:00 am. This will be followed by a gathering and celebration of Rogers life at his home on Brown Lane.
Plants, flowers and memorial contributions to ones choice may be sent to Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville.

Billy 'Hoot' Gibson
May 28, 1929 - April 28, 2003
Billy "Hoot" Gibson, Jr. 73, of Mansfield, died April 28, 2003 at 7:50 am at Union Hospital.
He was born May 28, 1929 in Clay County, the son of William Gibson and Martha Shattuck Gibson. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked as a paint and body man and as a mechanic. He also owned the Race Inn Tavern.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #2 and the VFW #1127. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and traveling to Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Curtis William Gibson; and a grandson Christopher Paulino Casteneda.
He is survived by his daughters, Christina Casteneda and husband Paul and Shanan Skipo and husband George; five grandchildren, Evette Casteneda, Gregory Casteneda, Christopher Casteneda, Jashua Barnett and Shawn Barnett; the mother of his children Shirley Croy Ianotti and other extended family.
Services will be Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at 1:00 pm at French Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Trotter officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 - 1:00 (prior to the services).

Mr. Glen E. Haley
Mr. Glen E. Haley, 86, of Seymour, IN., passed away at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 at Jewish Hospital, Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. with his family by his side.
Glen was born in Brownstown, IN on April 26, 1922, the son of the late Raymond Duff and Della (Eglen) Haley. He retired from the Seymour Fire Department where he served as fire chief from 1964 to 1971. He then worked at Cummins Engine Company for ten years in the security deparment.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt in WW II. He served his Country with honor and dignity in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes Rhineland Central Europe, American Theater Ribbon, European Theater Ribbon with 5-Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Distenguished Unit Badge, Bronze Arrowhead Voctory Medal of WW II. Glen was a member of: Masonic Lodge F & AM # 146, V.F.W. Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Elks Lodge, Eagles Club, Scottish Rite and Schriner Club.
Glen is survived by: three daughters, Glenda Burke, Cathy Thornton, Christine Haley a son, Thomas E. Haley, Grandchildren: Melissa (David) Rhew, DeDee (Michael) Taylor, Thomas, Hartman, Michael Thornton, Melissa Thornton, Michael Burke and Stacy (Dan) Moran, 6-great grand and 1-great great grand, 1st wife Clara Motsinger Haley Taylor.
Preceded in death by:Parents, Wife: Maxine Salmon Haley, Siblings: Charlette, Della, Maude, Pete, Maurice, Joe, Patrick and Jack,
Funeral Service will be at Voss Chapel, Seymour, IN, at 1:30 pm on Saturday, November 8th, with Pastor Philip Bloch and Vicar Anthony Oliphant officiating.
Friends may call on Friday, Nov. 7th from 4-8pm. and Saturday after 12:00 noon until time of service at Voss Chapel. .
Interment will be at Riverview cemetery with a Voss Dove release.
Family request donations be written to Kosair Childrens Hospital.
Full military graveside service will be conducted by the V.F.W., American Legion, Vietnam Veterans, Korean Veterans and DAV all of Seymour.
Masonic Service will be conducted at Voss Chapel on Friday 7:00 pm

Charles Thomas Faulkner Jr
February 16, 1942 - January 20, 2003
Charles Thomas "Tom" Faulkner, Jr. 60, of Poland, died January 20, 2003 at 1:30 pm at Holly Hills Healthcare Facility. He had been a resident there only a few days.
He was born February 16, 1942 in Indianapolis, the son of Charles T. and Donna Nicholson Faulkner. He was a 1960 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School in Indianapolis.
On March 23, 1991 he married Susan Muns Faulkner, she survives.
In his lifetime, Tom had several different occupations. Among those were, Service Center in the Keystone area of Indianapolis, and service manager at Lincoln-Mercury dealer in Noblesville. He taught night school at North Central High School, Tech High School, and Ivy Tech in Indianapolis. He served as a deputy marshall in Ravenswood, IN and as police commissioner in Ravenswood. He worked at the Indianapolis Star as a District Sales Manager. From 1965 thru 1967 he served in the US Army.
In 1987 he and his wife relocated to the Poland area and in 1988 he bought the Poland Hardware Store. He enjoyed his business ownership until his health problems forced him to sell the store. Tom had also been active in politics, and had served as a Scout Master for 17 years in Indianapolis.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge #85 Bowling Green, the Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, the Brazil Moose Lodge, American Legion Post #2in Brazil and the Poland Zion United Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Susie Faulkner of Poland, his children, Carla Jean Faulkner and husband Phillip Town of Julian, CA, Twila Ray Strange and husband Edmond of Columbia City, IN, Denise Jarrett and husband Jim of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Anthony Strange, Nathan Strange, jCole Jarrett and Paige Jarrett; one brother Arthur L. Faulkner and wife Candy of Indianapolis; his mother-in-law, Andree Muns of Indianapolis and other extended family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2003 at 10:00 am at Poland Zion Church of Christ with Revs. Myron Welty and Adin Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow at Zion cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 24, 2003 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at French Funeral Home, and Saturday one hour prior to services at the church. Masonic Services will be held Friday evening at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Graveside Military rites will be provided by American Legion Post #2 and VFW #1127.

Lloy June Gilliatt
June 3, 1909 - October 13, 2002
Lloy June Gilliatt, 93, of Staunton, died October 13, 2002 at 6:30 am at Clay Health Center. She was born June 3, 1909 in Clay County the daughter of Luther and Nellie Mae Gregory Reynolds. Following high school, she went onto the Union Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1923. She married Thomas Lyle Gilliatt, he passed away in 1967. She worked for 33 years at the Clay County Hospital in obstetrics. She retired in 1980 and enjoyed traveling. She was a loyal Chicago Cubs fan. She was a past member of the RN Club of Clay County. She was one of the founding citizens of the Clay County Food Pantry. She also enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and infant daughter Zo June Gilliatt, and a brother Forrest Gregory Reynolds.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Richard Nussel of Staunton; two granddaughters, Sharri Jill Scamihorn and husband Kerry and Amy Lee Nussel all of Staunton; five great-grandchildren, Heather McGowan, Tessa Scamihorn, Olivia Scamihorn, Zebulon "Bub" Scamihorn and Jacob Nussel; one great-great-granddaughter, Jillyan McGowan.
Services will be Wednesday, October 16, 2002 at 1:00 pm at French Funeral Home with Rev. David Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Clearview cemetery. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to services.
