Norma June Whitaker
Norma June Whitaker, a long-time resident of Gosport, Indiana, died at the age of 79 on the 9th of June at the Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer.
June was born on November 3, 1931 to Jesse and Brunetta Reynolds in Monroe County. After graduating from Stinesville High School, June moved to Indianapolis where she worked for Hargis Truck Line. June married Joe Whitaker on July 12, 1951. June worked in a secretarial capacity for several years and was a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma sorority. She was very involved in many activities at the Gosport VFW and was a member of the Woman's Auxiliary 7850. She was an avid IU fan and followed the basketball team for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Whitaker; daughters, Jill Tucker and her husband Craig and Jan Torgerson and her husband Kirk; grandchildren, Andrew Tucker, Kyle Torgerson, Ashley Tucker, and Kelly Cameron; and great-grandson, Elijah Cameron. Her grandchildren and great-grandson brought great joy to her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Tom and Don, and sisters, Kathryn and Mary.
A celebration of life services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home-Whitaker Chapel in Gosport on Monday, June 13, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Gosport cemetery. Family and friends may call on the family on Sunday, June 12, 2011 from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Vista Care Hospice.

Donald O Fisher
Donald O. Fisher, 88 of Ellettsville passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the Waters in Martinsville.
He was born in Mt. Clemen, MI to George W. Fisher and Inez (Oliver) Fisher. He was raised later in life by his grandfather, Pete Oliver, who lived on Howard Road for many years. He married the love of his life, Norma (Figg) Fisher on June 30, 1946. They celebrated 65 years of marriage in June. Don was a carpenter for over 40 years working as a union carpenter, May Development, RC Structures and self-employed for many years. He also worked at the Richland Housing Development as maintenance supervisor. Don received the Purple Heart for serving his country in World War II. He served in the 607 Tank Destroyers of the U.S. Army. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post #18 in Bloomington and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 604. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1081 of Bloomington and a past member of the AMVETS Post 2000. He loved his community and shared his skills by helping build the diamonds and building for the Ellettsville Little League. He helped for many years with the Ellettsville Fall Festival. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, and later in life playing bingo. His laughter and joking nature touched the lives of many people and brought joy to those around him. Special thanks to the nurses and caregivers at the Waters of Martinsville. They became a part of his family and he of theirs.
Don is survived by his wife Norma Fisher; sons, Donald E. Fisher (Shirley) and Dennis L. Fisher (Chris); grandchildren, Matt Fisher, Brant Fisher, Maggie Hedrick, Jacob Fisher, Amy Slabaugh, and Barry Fisher; eleven great-grandchildren and brother, Herbert Fisher of Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, and one infant brother.
Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Steve Baker and Brother John Baker officiating. Entombment will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8 at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, Alzheimer's Society or the Veterans Posts that were so close to his heart.

Anita Jean Bowman
Anita Jean Bowman, 78, of Spencer, died 7:11 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2011due to complications from an auto accident March 12.
Born Feb. 17, 1933, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Herman and Jessie Wampler Beach. She had worked at Sarkes Tarzian, Home Health Aid and at McCormicks Creek State Park.Anita was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Spencer.
Survivors include one son, Raymond Bowman of Martinsville; four daughters, Malvinda Gates of Gosport, Linda Wilson of Spencer, Brenda Littell of Martinsville and Karen Harrison of Princes Lake; three brothers, Bill Beach of Southport, Herman Beach of Bargersville and Jarrell Beach of Brooklyn; a half brother, David Beach of Spencer; one sister, Lanita Beach of Fayetteville, N.C.; a half sister, Carrol Sturgeon of Spencer; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin Leo Bowman, who died May 6, 1988; one brother, Homer Wampler; and one grandson, Bradley Homer Littell.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville, with the Rev. Charlie Evans officiating. Private family burial will be at Chambersville cemetery.
Friends may call 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Jacqueline S. Mitchner
Jacqueline Sue Mitchner, 68, of Ellettsville passed away at Richland Bean Blossom Health Care Center on Wednesday, July 6, 2011.
Jacqueline was born in Bloomington into the home of Robert F. Hartman and Marjorie L. (Hacker) Hartman on August 26, 1942. She worked at G.E. on the assembly line for over 33 years from 1969 until her retirement in 2002. Jacqueline spent her free time enjoying her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Hartman.
Jacqueline is survived by her son, Doug Mitchner and wife Diana; daughter, Kim Bryant and husband Rex all of Ellettsville; grandchildren, Michael Sheppard and his fianc, Sara Ruetschlin, Amanda Field and her husband Richard, Jessica Bryant, Jade Bryant and Katie Bryant; great-grandchildren, Noah Field and Jude Field; former spouse, Gerald Mitchner of Bloomington; aunts, Jean Chandler, Marie Hedrick, Florence Hartman and uncle and aunt, Paul and Hazel Hamm.
Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home on Monday, July 11, 1011 at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Gerald Speer officiating. Interment is to follow at Payne cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 2-6 and again one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Monday.

Vicki A. Arthur
Vicki Ann Arthur, 68, of Orlando, FL formerly of Ellettsville passed away at Florida Hospital East in Orlando on Saturday, May 7, 2011.
She was born in Bloomington on October 23, 1942 to Rex H. and Jean (Pless) Vint. Vicki graduated from Bloomington High School in 1960. She retired from Indiana University where she worked in various departments. Vicki was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church and enjoyed helping her husband at Stinesville Lions Club.
Vicki is survived by her son, Michael Arthur and wife Amy of Oviedo, FL; grandchildren, Jacob Michael, Abigail Suzanne and Sarah Elizabeth; niece, Gina Pomeroy, and sister, Melissa Freshour of Jackson, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Max Arthur who passed in June of 2002.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Mt. Pleasant cemetery on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Don Cooter officiating. There will be no visitation.
Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mt. Pleasant Christian Church.

Clara M. (Sellars) Reker
Clara Mae (Sellars) Reker, 87, of Ellettsville passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Richland Bean Blossom Health Care Center.
Born in Bloomington on August 30, 1923 to Noble F. Sellars and Grace McHenry, Clara lived a life full of service, faith, family and love. After raising her four sons, Clara worked for Sarkes Tarzian (1959-1962) and RCA (1962-1968) as an Insurance Administrator. Clara was a member of the First Baptist Church (now First United Church) of Bloomington and a member of the Delta Sigma Kappa Sorority and Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Noble Sellars and Grace McHenry; husband Norman Reker; son, James Simpson; brothers, James, Bob, and Wilbur Sellars, and John OConner, and sister, Rebecca Wilson.
Clara is survived by her sons; Ken N. Simpson and wife Linda of Charlotte, NC, Larry D. Simpson and wife Kayson of Marietta, GA, and Jerry B. Simpson and wife Sharon of Bloomington; grandchildren, Cynthia Simpson O'Mahoney of Bloomington, Pamela Dunlap of Indianapolis, Jerry D. Simpson of Bloomington, Mike Simpson of Indianapolis, Todd Simpson of Greenwood, Kathy Edwards of Gainesville, FL, Jim Simpson of Cosby, TN, Noak Simpson of Phun Thong, Thailand, Pawn Simpson of Marietta, GA and Mike McKee of Johnsonville, SC; fifteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville with Rev.Tom Kammel officiating. Burial will follow at Chambersville cemetery. Friends may call on the family at the funeral home from 12:00 until the time of services.
The family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Rhomylly Forbes
Rhomylly Forbes, 48, of Bloomington passed away at her home on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 11:35 p.m.
Rhomylly was born in Monroe, Michigan on February 2, 1963 to John Forbes and Sylvia (Miller) Forbes. She was a free lance writer and published books about murder mystery, traditional English folk dancing, and a survival guide to living in a small town. She enjoyed dancing and was especially talented at traditional English and American folk dancing along with performing as a musician with a concertina.
She is survived by her husband, Alex Garman of Bloomington; daughter, Keely Rose Garman; father, John Forbes of Lexington, KY, and mother, Slyvia Forbes of Lawrence, KS.
A memorial service will be held for Rhomylly at Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call upon the family at the funeral home from 11:00 until time of services Saturday.

Mary "Maureen" Feichter
Mary Maureen McBride Feichter, 86, went to be with her Lord on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Monroe Hospital after a determined Irish fight of many illnesses.
Born February 11, 1925, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, she was the daughter of David and Sarah McBride. Her father worked in the shipyards and was a carpenter on the Titanic. She was a courageous, beautiful young woman who traveled to America when she was only 22 years old to find a better life. She met a dashing man and married Frank Feichter three months later. They were married fifty-two years until his passing on Dec. 8, 2005. She was known as a wonderful cook and retired from Fort Wayne Community Schools in that capacity. Her potato pie and boiled fruit dumpling were her signature recipes. She loved to talk about her country to others and visited several times. She and her four sisters were photographed by the local newspaper during a visit. The family wishes to thank Dr. Devane and the nurses at the wound center and Sherri at Monroe Hospital and PCU.
She had five children in six and a half years and all survive; Gloria (Ron) Beatty of Spencer, IN, Sarah (Donald) Stevenson of Lima, OH, Cheryl (John) Ritzman of Northglenn, CO; Lynn (Tom) Baker of Hickory, NC and Frank (Lisa) Feichter of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Eddie (Judy) Getts of Bloomington, IN, Tricia (Matt) Hogan of Greenwood, IN, Seth Reinhart of NC, Cherylyn (William) Riley, Jenny (Tim) McPherson, and William (Kari) Long of Lima, OH and Tasha (Norm) Ruger of Columbus, OH; great-grandchildren, Emilie, Gabrielle, Luke, Sage, Abe, Oliva, Sam, Ben, Tevin, Aries, Madison, Isabella, Ali, Jadyn, Tricia, and Danny; siblings, John McBride of Fort Wayne, Douglas (Etta) McBride of TN, and phemie Smylie of Ireland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Peggy, Elizabeth, and Annie; brothers, David, Corbett and Sammy McBride; and grandson, Ben.
Funeral services will be private. Interment will be at Chambersville cemetery. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with the arrangements. Visitation will be on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 at the funeral home.

Ron D. Crichfield
Ron D. Crichfield, 64, of Ellettsville passed away at the IU Health-Bloomington Hospital surrounded by his family on Monday August 8, 2011.
Ron was a retired barber of the Ellettsville area. He loved the outdoors, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy of Gosport and Rachael of Zephyrhills, FL; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Jerry of Ellettsville and Danny of Lima, OH; two sisters, Connie Edwards of Greenwood and Cathy Utterback of Patricksburg, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Jack W. and Lois (Pruett) Crichfield and brother, Jack C. Crichfield.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 1201 W. Tapp Road in Bloomington with Ralf Langwald officiating. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is assisting with arrangements.

Steven Matthew Stinson

Steven Matthew Stinson, age 22, of Martinsville, Indiana died May 9, 2003 in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana as a reuslt of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
He was born December 26, 1980 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Steven Wayne & Connie Mae Cantrell Stinson who survive in Martinsville, Indiana. He attended Mooresville Christian School and Mooresville High School. He had been an iron worker out of Iron Workers Local 22, Indianapolis, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Leslie E. Stinson of Martinsville, Indiana, his grandparents, Vestal H. & Emma J. "Mammie" Adams Stinson of Martinsville, Indiana and Mary R. Spalding Cantrell of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday May 13, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. David Ball in Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, Indiana. Friends may call fro 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday May 12, 2003. Burial will follow in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Waverly, Indiana.

Sandra Lee Roemer Anderson, age 52 of Mooresville, Indiana died May 14, 2003 in St. Francis Hospital, Beech Grove, Indiana. She was born May 28, 1950 in Vincennes, Indiana to Russell Edward & Evelyn Lee Palmer Roemer.
She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She had been a hair stylist 34 years and was currently working at West Carlisle Street Hair Designers.
Survivors include her husband James Nick Anderson (Married April 8, 1972) of Mooresville, Indiana; son Brian A. Anderson of Mooresville, Indiana; daughter Cara N. Anderson of Mooresville, Indiana; brothers Ronald E. Roemer of Indianapolis, Indiana and William H. Roemer of Monrovia, Indiana.
Calling is Monday, May 19, 2003 from 5-9 p.m. in Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel, Mooresville, Indiana. Funeral Services 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2003 in the funeral chapel. Rev. Jack Elliott, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in White Lick cemetery, Mooresville, Indiana. Memorial Contributions may be made to Indiana Organ Procurement Organization, 429 N. Pennsylvania Street, Suite 201, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
