Lurabelle M. Kourt, age 83, of 525 East Columbia Street, Apt. 11, South Whitley, IN 46787 died at 1:30 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2002 at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home where she was admitted a few days ago after suffering a stroke at her South Whitley home.

She was born in Columbia City, IN on February 18, 1919 to Fred Lewis and Eliza Estlick Marrs. She was born and raised in Whitley County then moved to Noble County for a brief time before moving to New Mexico and lived there 18 years. She returned to Whitley County in 1991and had lived in South Whitley for the past 4 years.

She married Howard R. Kourt on September 3, 1960 at St. John's Lutheran where she currently was a member. She was an avid rock and arrowhead collector and loved to fish.

She is survived by her husband, Howard R. Kourt of South Whitley, IN; 1 son, Stephen Hollopeter of Fort Wayne, IN; son in law Neal Evard, Columbia City, IN; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Norma Sheets of Columbia City, IN; Mary Stuersel of Bradenton, FL; Martha Putman of Apache Junction, AZ and Sally Wright of Ashland, KY; 1 brother, Charles Marrs of Defiance, OH.

She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Ruth Annette Evard and 1 sister Naomi Walburn.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, December 26, 2002 at the DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN 46725. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2002 at the funeral home with Pastor Tony Evard offciating. Burial will be at the Eberhard Lutheran cemetery, Columbia City, IN. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.

Deloris L. Nichols, age 70, 15 West 200 S, Columbia City, IN died at 5:39 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2002 as the result of a traffic accident at the intersection of SR 9 and 400 S, Columbia City, IN. She was born on March 3, 1932 in Columbia Township, Whitley County, IN to Raymond Earl and Francis Marie (Nei) Schrader.

She has spent her entire lifetime in Whitley County and graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1950. She worked at the Southside Market, Columbia City, IN and then worked at General Electric, Fort Wayne, IN where she met her husband. She later worked in the cafeteria of Columbia Township School. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Columbia City, IN where she and her husband, Wayne A. Nichols were married on September 8, 1951.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne A. of Columbia City; 4 daughters, Mrs. Robert (Debra) Bennett, Mrs. Michael (Kathy) Webb, and Mrs. Jeffrey (Lora) Herendeen, all of Columbia City, and Ms. Lisa England of Avilla; 1 son, Dennis Nichols of Columbia City; 1 sister, Mrs. Willodean Lyons of Huntington; 1 brother, Frederick D. Schrader of Columbia City; 4 grandchildren, Mrs. Michelle (Barry) Anderson of Churubusco, Justin England of Garrett, Jenna and Ethan England of Avilla; and a great-grandson, Quincy England of Garrett. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Frances Schrader and a brother, Walter Schrader.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2002 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Memorial bequests may be made in Mrs. Nichols' memory to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Private First Class Anthony R. Wagner, age 22, formerly of South Whitley, IN, died at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2002 as the result of an auto accident on Interstate 70 near Greenfield, IN. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN on June 27, 1980 to Michael G. and Valerie Marie (Felger) Wagner.

He was a member of the Columbia City football program for six years and he graduated with the Class of 1998 from Columbia City High School. He entered the military on May 23, 2001 at Fort Wayne, IN with the Army National Guard, assigned to B Company, 1st Battalion 293rd Infantry. He received the Army Service Ribbon.

He is survived by his parents of South Whitley, IN; a brother, Jerimme Wagner of Fort Wayne, IN; a sister, Danielle M. Wagner of South Whitley, IN; a grandmother, Phyllis Wagner residing at Byron Health Center, Fort Wayne, IN; and a grandfather, Leonard Felger of FL.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2002 from 2 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with US Army Chaplain Nedza officiating. Burial will be at the South Park Annex cemetery, Columbia City, IN with full graveside military honors.

A.C. Trent, age 69, 1790 E. Linker Road, Columbia City, IN 46725 died on Thursday, November 21, 2002 at 10:55 p.m. at his residence. He was born on December 7, 1932 to America (Banks) and Ceaser Trent in Jackson County, KY.

He lived in Kentucky for 9 years then moved to Huntertown/LaOtto area where he attended school before moving to Columbia City, IN in 1952. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict as a Private 1st Class from 1952 to 1954. He married Mary E. Weicht on May 5, 1965 in Fort Wayne, IN. He was a welder for Truck Engineering Co., Fort Wayne, IN for 33 years and a truck driver from 1988 to 1997 for Whitley Trailer Sales, South Whitley, IN.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Columbia City; a daughter, Stephanie (Garrett) O'Brien, Westfield, MA; three sisters, Liz Trent of Fort Wayne, IN, Virginia Bock of Florida, Barbara Ison of Clinton, AR; three brothers, Eugene Trent of Albion, IN, Bill Trent of Jacksonville, FL, and Richard Trent of Fort Wayne, IN; his father-in-law, George Weicht, of Butler, IN; an aunt, Sarah Banks, of West Carrollton, OH; two grandsons, Alexander and Sidney O'Brien and a granddaughter, Jordan O'Brien of Westfield, MA. His parents and a sister, Anne Savage, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2002 from 3 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, a Selected Independent Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2002 at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, Columbia City, IN, with one hour of visitation at the church before the funeral service. Pastor Denise Davault of St. Matthews United Methodist Church will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the US Army and burial will be at Thorn cemetery, Noble Co., IN. Memorial bequests may be made in Mr. Trent's memory to Turnstone Center for Children or Parkview Home Health Care and Hospice.

Timothy Franklin Herron, age 44, of 1826 N 650 W, Columbia City, IN 46725 passed away at 1:03 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, Allen County, IN. Mr. Herron had been in failing health for the past several months.

He was born in Columbia City, IN on September 11, 1958 to Tim W. and Carol I. (Notestine) Herron. He graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1976. He lived his entire lifetime in the Whiltey County area, including 18 years at his present home near Larwill.

He married Mary E. LaRue on August 18, 1979 at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, Columbia City, IN. He was first employed at Buchanan Ford, Columbia City, and then at Ben Glaser Chevy-Olds-Pontiac, later known as Bob Porter Chevy and currently named Burnworth-Zollars in Ligonier, IN where he was an auto body technician.

He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Pierceton, IN, the Richland Township Fire Department where he served as the Assistant Chief for two years and secretary/treasurer for several years. He also was a member of the National Modified Midget Association where he participated as an avid driver and crew chief. He has helped with many annual Larwill community events, including the Larwill fish frys, Larwill Christmas children's programs and the Larwill baseball leagues.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Herron, Columbia City, IN; one son, Wesley H. Herron, and one daughter, Angela M. Herron, both of Columbia City, IN; his mother, Carol I. Herron, Columbia City, IN; three sisters, Cathy Eberley, Ligonier, IN, Lorrie Mahon, Joplin, MO and Melanie Gaff, Auburn, IN; In-laws, Donald (Betty) LaRue, Ashville, AL; brother-in-laws, Glen (Sharion) LaRue and Donald LaRue, Columbia City, IN, Larry (Carolyn "Petey") LaRue of Steele, AL, Gerald (Linda) LaRue, Rainbow City, AL, Dennis (Peg) LaRue, Fort Wayne, IN, James (Christine) LaRue, Kentwood, MI; and many nieces and nephews. His father, Tim W. Herron, preceded him in death on June 11, 1998.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2002 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. There will be a Fireman's Memorial Service held at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2002 at the funeral home. The funeral mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Pierceton, IN on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Bruce Piechocki officiating. Burial will be at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic cemetery, Pierceton, IN.

Memorial bequests may be given in Mr. Herron's memory to his children's college fund, the Richland Township Fire Department, Larwill Lion's Club or to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Ralph T. Watson, age 88, of 380 North Walnut Street, Columbia City, IN 46725 died at 7:34 p.m. Thursday, November 27, 2003 at the Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City, IN.

He was born on March 26, 1915 in Jefferson Township, rural Columbia City, Whitley County, IN to Jacob "Burt" and Alma (Schoenauer) Watson. Mr. Watson lived his entire lifetime in Whitley County and for the past 55 years at his present home on Walnut Street. He graduated from Jefferson Center High School with the Class of 1933. He married Mary Amelia McCoy on June 12, 1937 in Jefferson Township, Whitley County, IN. He retired in October of 1979 from Dana Weatherhead, Columbia City, IN as a 2nd shift superintendent.

Survivors include one son, Steve (Carol) Watson, Bozrah, CT; 2 sisters, Donna Baskin, Clemmons, NC and Pauline Horn, of Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Amelia Watson who died in March of 1979, 1 brother, Glen Watson and 1 sister, Vera Schrock.

Visitation will be held from 2-5:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. A celebration of life gathering will follow immediately at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, which will be given by his son and Mr. Watson's family and friends. A funeral luncheon will follow in the community room of DeMoney-Grimes. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Mr. Watson's memory to either the American Heart, American Lung or American Cancer Associations or to the Rocky Mountain Nature Association, %Curt Buckholtz, Executive Director, Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, CO 80517. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

She was born and resided her entire lifetime in Jefferson Township, Whitley County, IN on November 7, 1920 to Jacob S. and Sophia R. (Bohrer) Hinen.

She attended Jefferson Township schools. She was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and it's Rosary Sodality, Roanoke, IN. She married Larry L. King on June 24, 1960 in Roanoke, IN. She was part owner of King's Repair in Roanoke as well as a housewife.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Larry L. King who died on May 2, 1995, 3 sisters, Helen Hinen, Elizabeth Redman, Alma Fisher and 7 brothers, Lawrence, Edmund, Andrew, Paul, Clarence, Earl and Lester Hinen.

Visitation will be held from 5-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. The Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2003. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Roanoke, IN with Father Kenneth Sarazine of the church officiating. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Catholic cemetery, Roanoke, IN. Memorial donations may be given in memory of Carrie to the American Heart Association or to masses.

She graduated with the Class of 1954 from Larwill High School, Larwill, IN. She married Benjamin Franklin Maggert on September 1, 1962 in Columbia City, IN. From 1995-2003, she was employed by Reelcraft Industries, Columbia City. She was a member of the Columbia City American Legion Auxiliary Post #98. She has resided in Whitley County her entire life.

Survivors include 2 sons, Robert Eugene (Jeannie) Monroe and Raymond Keithley Monroe both of Fort Wayne, IN; 2 daughters, Linda Marie (Russell) Campbell of Fort Wayne and Helen Doreen (Cliff) Hahn of Columbus, OH; a long-time companion, Ned Simmons of Columbia CIty, IN and his 5 children; 5 sisters, Doris Todd and Vera (Karen) Clark both of Warsaw, IN, Ardith Rager of Arkon, IN, Louise (Phil) Dacey of Columbus, OH, Alice Brumfield of Claypool, IN; a brother, Wendall (Helen) Buntain of Las Cruces, New Mexico; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Her husband and his parents preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2003 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. The funeral service will immediately follow visitation at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2003 with Mr. Gerald Bills officiating. An American Legion Auxiliary Post #98 memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be at Troy Presbyterian cemetery, rural Columbia City. Memorial donations may be given in Mrs. Maggert's memory to Passages, Inc. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Ruby H. Timmons, age 95, of Columbia City, IN died at 4:10 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at the Oaks Living Care Center, Columbia City. She was born on July 3, 1908 to Edwin and Eve (Gross) Vance. She received her education in the public schools of Washington Township, Whitley County and Columbia City High Schools.

She was married to Donneal J Groesbeck who died on September 11, 1956. Her second marriage was to Jack Watts and he preceeded her in death. Her third marriage was to Owen Foster Timmons and he also preceded her in death on September, 1985. As a new high school graduate, Mrs. Timmons moved to Toledo, OH. She has resided in Springfield, OH, Fort Wayne, IN and Columbia City. Because of her failing health In February, 1995, she moved to The Oaks Living Center, Columbia City. A homemaker, she was employed by the former Farris Nursing Home and several Columbia City restaurants as a chef and waitress before her retirement.

She is survived by 2 nephews, John E. (Sherry) Vance and Mike E. (Charlotte) Vance both of Fort Wayne; 2 nieces, Cheryll (Dan) Price of Tuscon, AZ and Jill Blaugh of Fort Wayne, IN; 1 step daughter, Jeanette (Donald) Sullivan of Columbia City; 3 step grandchildren and several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2003 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 17, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Curtiss Johnson, retired minister of Community Bible Church, officiating. Burial will be at Lindenwood cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN. Memorials may be given in memory of Mrs. Timmons to the donor's choice.
