Richard D. North, age 81, of Montgomery, Michigan, died at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home, Montpelier, Ohio on August 17, 2003. He was born in Whitley County, IN on April 29, 1922 to Charles and Rhoda (Cook) North.

He was raised around Wilson Lake and he graduated with the Class of 1941 from Larwill High School, Larwill, IN. After graduation, he served in the US Marine Corps during World War II from 1942-1945. He served in the liberation of Guadalcanal.

He married Eudora Moore from Boston, MA. He was a former member of American Legion Post #156, Montgomery, MI and a past master of Due Guard Masonic Lodge, Larwill, IN. In 1983, he retired as a truck driver for Coastal Tank Lines at Chicago Terminals. During his retirement years, he enjoyed mini-farming.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eudora of Montgomery, MI; brothers, Mr. Robert North of Phoenix, AZ, Mr. Phil North of Queen Creek, AZ and Mr. Gale North of Larwill, IN; a twin sister, Mary Gebert of Columbia City, IN and sisters, Martha Doepker, Citra, FL and Betty Blain of Larwill, IN. Preceding him in death aaare his parents, a brother, Donald and an infant sister, Marjorie.

Services will be held at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN on Saturday, September 13, 2003 at 10:00a.m. with Pastor Curtiss Johnson, retired pastor of Community Bible Church officiating. Burial and military graveside services will follow at Hillcrest cemetery, Pierceton, IN.

David Jonathan Boyer, age 34, a former Columbia City resident and currently of Van Wert, OH died at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2003 at the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana where he was admitted late Thursday. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN on December 10, 1968 to William E. and Mary Ann (Jackson) Boyer. He attended North Manchester High School through the 12th grade.

He has spent his lifetime in Fort Wayne, Columbia City, Pierceton, Sidney, North Manchester, back to Fort Wayne, Convoy, OH and lastly in Van Wert, OH. He was a member of the Van Wert Eagles Lodge. He was a truck driver for Goodwill Industries of Northeastern Indiana, Fort Wayne, IN. He married Sherrie Renee Rhoades on September 30, 1999 in Van Wert, OH.

Survivors include his wife, Sherrie Renee Boyer, Van Wert, OH; 2 sisters, Rose Ann (Allan) Rhoades, Convoy, OH and Marsha Smith, Van Wert, OH; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Deborah Jon Boyer.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-8:00 p.m. (2-9:00 p.m. Ohio time) on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at the DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN with Pastor Neil Hammons of the Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. (noon Ohio time) Thursday, August 28, 2003 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. (3:00 p.m. Ohio time) at the I.O.O.F. cemetery, Convoy, OH. Memorial donations may be given in Mr. Boyer's memory to either the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, Inc. or the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

H. Carlton Hasty, age 82, of 1300 N SR 109, Columbia City, IN died suddenly, Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2003 at his residence. He was born on May 16, 1921 in Jefferson Township, Whitley County, IN to Melvin A. and Eliza (Hatfield) Hasty.

He graduated from the former Jefferson Center High School with the Class of 1939. He was reared in Jefferson Township and made his residence there until moving permanently to his Crooked Lake home. He moved to his current home on SR 109 in Thorncreek Township about 10 years ago. He married Donnis Irene Holloway on December 25, 1942 in the parsonage of the United Brethren Church, Fort Wayne, IN.

Mr. Hasty was a retired farmer, specializing in raising Dorset sheep. His family received the 100 year old Hoosier Homestead Award several years ago. He also worked at International Harvester, the General Electric Company and Dana Corporation. He also was a bar tender at Tri Lakes Tavern, the 9 & 14 Restaurant, Goose Lake Restaurant and the Fraternal Order of Ealges Lodge #1906 all of Columbia City, as well as driving a long distance delivery truck for the Green Acres Sod Farm.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #1906 and the Crooked Lake Golf Club, former choir director of Jefferson Chapel United Methodist Church, former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Laud, IN, volunteered with the Whitley County 4-H Sheep Club, and a member of N.E.O., all of Columbia City. He also was an avid golfer and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Donnis I. Hasty of Columbia City; 1 daughter, Connie L. (Danny J.) Long of Kimmell, IN; 2 granddaughters, Mrs. Amy Jo (Randal G.) Butler of Glenrock, WY and Buffy (Jeff) Neumann of Hubert, N.C. and 2 great-grandchildren including Randi Christine and Lincoln Thomas Sherman Butler both of Glenrock, WY. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2003 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with John Whiteleather presiding. Eagles Lodge #1906 will conduct a twilight memorial service at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2003 at the funeral home. Memorial bequest may be given in Mr. Hasty's memory to the Eagles Lodge #1906, Columbia City, IN. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Burial will be at Jefferson Chapel (Sand Bank) cemetery.

Jenavev L. Hollenbaugh, age 94, formerly of Laud and currently a resident at 413 North Wolf Road, Apt. 207, Oak Pointe Living Center, Columbia City, IN 46725 died on Thursday, August 28, 2003 at 12:10 a.m. at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City, IN where she had been admitted a few hours earlier.

She was born on December 15, 1908 in Fort Cobb, Caddo County, OK to John and Nancy (Fuller) Maxson. She attended the public schools of Oklahoma and then married Clem Earl Hollenbaugh on December 28, 1927 in Cordell, Oklahoma. In 1928 she moved to Jefferson Township, Whitley County, IN and spent her adult lifetime in the Laud area moving to the Oak Pointe Living Center in 2000. She was a member of Laud Christian Church, the Christian Women's Fellowship of the church and the Laud Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Joyce Carney of Fort Wayne, IN; Mrs. Harris C. (Wanda) Hine of Dayton, IN and Mrs. Arnold Eugene (Wanita) Lefever, Columbia City, IN; 1 son, Max E. (Bonnie) Hollenbaugh of Columbia City, IN; 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; 1 sister Inemia Samuelson of Stockton, CA; 1 brother, Robert Maxson of Lantana, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clem Earl Hollenbaugh, who died on July 6, 1969, 2 sisters, Veda Maxson Womak and Nadene Burdick and 2 brothers, Noble and Clark Maxson.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2003 and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2003 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2003 with Pastor James Clifford of Laud Christian Church officiating. Burial will be at the Jefferson Chapel (Sand Bank) cemetery, Jefferson Township, Whitley County, IN. Memorial bequests may be given in Mrs. Hollenbaugh's memory to the Northern Indiana Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Laud Christian Church, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Robert Allan Krugh, age 59, of 977 E Gatesworth Drive, Columbia City, IN 46725, died on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at 10:28 a.m. in the Parkview Whitley Hospital Emergency Room where he was brought after being found in his vehicle East of Columbia City. He was born on April 17, 1944 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, IN to Robert Lincoln and Ruth M. DeHaven Krugh.

He attended Emmaus Lutheran School and graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in Fort Wayne, IN. He has spent his lifetime in Decatur, IN, Fort Wayne and most of his adult lifetime in Columbia City and Tri Lakes area.

He married Betty J. Wickliffe on September 12, 1987 in Fort Wayne, IN. He served with the United States Army in Viet Nam. He has worked at White Electronic Designs, Bluffton Road, Waynedale, IN for the past 25 years. He was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, IN.

He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Krugh, Columbia City, IN; 3 sons, Gerald R. (Lisa) Krugh, Fort Wayne, IN; Ronald E. Krugh, Columbia City, IN and Kevin W. Bowser, Englewood, CO; 5 daughters, including Ronda M. (Ricky) Odem, Ludlow, KY, Melissa R. Goodrich, Huntington, IN, Amy L. (Charlie) Sitts, Columbia City, IN, Brenda S. (Hal) Hanes, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Debra K. Bowser, Chassell, MI; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 8, 2003 at the DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2003 at the funeral home with Pastor Barry Faucett of the New Hope Wesleyan Church officiating. Burial will be at the St. Matthew's cemetery, Columbia City, IN. Memorial bequests may be given in Mr. Krugh's memory to American Diabetes Association.

Paul Raymond Lock, age 82, of 2269 W 350 S, Columbia City, IN 46725 died during his sleep early Monday, August 11, 2003 at his residence. He was born on June 18, 1921 in Churubusco, IN to James L. and Goldie P. (Maggart) Lock.

He married Marjorie I. Breisch on August 11, 1954 at Grace Lutheran Church by Pastor Graham L. Kleespie in Columbia City, IN. She survives. Mr. Lock was reared in Churubusco and lived there until his marriage when he and his wife moved to their present home. He attended Churubusco High School. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Columbia City, IN. In 1980, he retired from his position as the janitorial department group leader for the Dana Corporation, Fort Wayne, IN.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie I. Lock of Columbia City, IN; 3 sons, Craig (Kathy) Lock of Martinsville, IN, James (Cindy) Lock of Columbia City, IN, Daniel (Lisa) Lock of Wolf Lake, IN; 1 daughter, Paula (Loren) Kauffman of Columbia City, IN; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ada VanDeman and Helen Groves both of Columbia City, IN; 2 brothers, Eugene Lock of Albion, IN and Arthur Lock of Churubusco, IN.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Norbert Lock, one infant sister, Velma, and two grandchildren, Scott and Corina.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Dale Evan Reichard, age 87, of Columbia City, IN died at 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City. He was born in Portland, IN on September 3, 1915 to Noah W. and Mahala (Brumm) Reichard.

He resided in Jay County, IN during his childhood and he attended high school in Milford, IN. He married Maxine E. Shriver in South Whitley, IN on February 20, 1938. After his marriage, he moved to Whitley County, moving to Kosciusko County for 10 years. He then returned to Whitley County and operated a dairy farm in Etna-Troy Township until his retirement in 1978 when he moved to his present home. He is a member of Farmer's Elevator, South Whitley, IN.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Kimmell; 3 sons, Larry (Darlene McIntire) Reichard of Ligonier, IN, Randall G. (Donna) Reichard of Columbia City, and Richard E. (Michele) Reichard of Fort Wayne, IN; a daughter, Janice (Tony) Clingerman of Kimmel, IN; 14 grandchildren, 13 great- granchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, and 14 step-great-granchildren; a brother, Milo Reichard of Tippecanoe, IN. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister, Avis Bowler, brothers, Dwight, Paul, Wilson and Harley Reichard, and 1 great grandchild.

Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2003 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. The funeral service is 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 15, 2003 at the funeral home with Pastor J. Phillip Blake from Columbia City United Methodist Church officiating. She graduated with the Class of 1965 from Elkhart High School, Elkhart, IN. She also attended South Bend College of Commerce. She previously resided in Elkhart, IN, Washington, D.C., Okinawa, Japan and since 1992, she has been a resident of Byron Health Care Center. She was active in the PTA and as a seamstress for children's plays, past chapter president of Alpha Iota Business Sorority, and a volunteer for the Salvation Army.

She is survived by 2 daughters, April (Troy) Snyder of Columbia City, and Wendy (Kurt) Hunsucker of Paragon, IN; 3 grandchildren, Melissa and Spencer Hunsucker of Paragon, and Davis Snyder of Columbia City. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Sharon Artley and Lynn Van Dusen.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2003 and from 2-3 p.m. on Saturday, August 2nd at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 2nd with Pastor C. Jack Scott from Columbia City United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at Rice cemetery, Elkhart, IN.

Robert G. Insley, age 85, of Syracuse died at 9:40 a.m. at Avalon Village Nursing Home, Ligonier, IN on Sunday, July 20, 2003. Born in Syracuse, IN, on December 15, 1917, he was the son of Claude Insley and Ina I. Bushong.

He graduated with the Class of 1936 from Syracuse High School. He married Ethel Mae Rowe on February 17, 1940 in Warsaw, IN. Retiring after 39 years, he was employed by Johnson Controls in Goshen, IN from 1942-1981. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, he attended Calvary Baptist Church, Oswego, IN. He was a member of Johnson Retiree's Club of Goshen, Kosciusko County Historical Society, Syracuse Alumni Association, and he was Republican Precinct Committeeman for Turkey Creek Township for many years.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Jean E. Insley of Syracuse; 1 son, Stanley R. Insley of Syracuse; 1 sister, Retha M. Ketchum of Syracuse; and 1 brother, Nelson C. Wogoman of Elkhart, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ethel Mae, 3 sisters, Betty Stutzman, Elizabeth (Libby) Rookstool, Norma Wogoman, 3 brothers, Rolland (Tubby) Wogoman, Marion (Peanut) Wogoman, and Norman Wogoman.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Calvary Baptist Church of Oswego, 3065 E. Armstrong Road. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23rd at Calvary Baptist Church in Oswego with Pastor Roderick V. Smith and Pastor Mark Kelly officiating. Burial will be at Syracuse cemetery. Memorials may be made in Mr. Insley's memory to the Syracuse Fire Department, Syracuse EMS, or Calvary Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
