John W. Boggess, age 69, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 6:35 a.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at Norwood Nursing Home, Huntington, IN. Born on August 3, 1943 in Huntington County, IN, he was the son of John H. and Bertha I. (Kilgus) Boggess.

He was borned in Huntington County, IN, reared in Blue Lake area Churubusco, IN and then moved to Columbia City. He attended Huntington High School. He served in the United States Marines from 1961-65. He worked for Norfolk and Southern RR for several years. On January 5, 2010 he married Shelley S. (Maloney) Zawacki-Boggess in Columbia City, IN. He was a member of Leatherneck Club, and worked with Toys for Tots program and was also a member of Columbia City V.F.W.

Survivors include his wife, Shelley S. Zawacki-Boggess of Columbia City; 3 sons, John R. Boggess of South Whitley, IN; Matthew A. (Tammy) Boggess of Albion, IN; Jason A. (Angie) Boggess of Columbia City; daughter, Beth E. (Chad) Lehman of Churubusco, IN; 2 sisters, Diane M. Geiger and Sharon A. Diffendarfer both of Churubusco, IN; 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

To honor Mr. Boggess wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Boggess's memory to American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. MILLARD KINCAID
Born: Tue Apr 26, 1921
Died: Mon Sep 17, 2012

Millard Kincaid, age 91, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away at 7:30 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at University Park Nursing Home, Fort Wayne, IN. Born on April 26, 1921 in Jackson, KY, he was the son of Edgar B. and Effie (Fletcher) Kincaid.

He grew up in Kentucky and moved to Indiana in 1950 living in Churubusco, IN until 1964. Then in 1964 he moved to Columbia City until 1985 when he moved to his present home in Fort Wayne. He attended Beattyville, Lee County, Kentucky School. In June of 1938, Millard married Mandy Jane Stamper. She preceded him in death in 1982. On April 20, 1985, he married Alice Rose Kincaid in Fort Wayne. She also preceded Millard in death in 2010. He was a general farmer in Kentucky, then he worked at U.S. Rubber Company, Fort Wayne, and he later did Security and Janitorial duties at Columbia City High School for 11 years full-time and 7 years part-time. He was a member of the Northside Church of Christ, Fort Wayne, and National Rifleman's Association.

Survivors include his 5 children, Shelby Kincaid of Louisville, KY; Edna (Mike) Ward of Venice, FL; June Lottie of Fort Wayne; Roy (Sharon) Kincaid of Fort Wayne; Aloise (Mike) Miller of Fort Wayne; 1 step son, Mark Calhoun; 4 brothers, Edgar (Thelma) Kincaid, Jr. of Sellersburg; Billy (Shannon) Kincaid of Beattyville KY; John (Nancy) Kincaid of Columbia City; Robert (Barbara) Kincaid of Asheboro, NC; 1 sister, Eunice Sheckler of Columbia City; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Effie Kincaid, daughter, Darnell Noirot; brothers, Melvin, Bradford, and Marion Kincaid; and sisters, Gracie Mathias, Sara Clark and Hazel Hollon-Richards.

Visitation is 12:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Minister, Terry Carter, officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Kincaid to Northside Church of Christ Building Fund or to the donor's choice of charity. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

JAMES ROBERT "Tarz" KISSINGER
Born: Wed May 25, 1938
Died: Wed Sep 12, 2012

James Robert "Tarz" Kissinger, 74, of Columbia City, known by his neighbors as the "phony farmer, " died at his residence at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2012. He was born in Warsaw, IN, on May 25, 1938, the son of the late Claude Earl and Lois Eleanor (Hurd) Kissinger.

He spent his childhood in the Tri-Lakes area and lived his entire lifetime in Columbia City where he attended Columbia City High School. On May 10, 1958, he married Julie J. Quinn at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, Columbia City.

He first was a well driller with G & K Well Drilling and then worked out of the Electrical Union Hall #305 for many years. In 1978, he became the owner and operator of Kissinger Electric, Columbia City. He was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church of Columbia City.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Julie Jean Kissinger, Columbia City; 5 children, Joseph Robert (Amy) Kissinger, Markle; Jeffery James (David) Kissinger, Knoxville, TN; Jonathan Scott (Deanna) Kissinger, Columbia City; Jennifer Lou Garcia, Fort Wayne; and Julie Ann (Brent) Robinson, North Webster; 8 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Peggy L. (John) DeFeo, Hollister, MO; Maralee Martin, Fort Wayne; and Michele (Greg) Brockhaus, Columbia City. He was also an avid animal lover, especially his two dogs, Wilson and Rosie. He is preceded in death by his father, Claude Earl Kissinger who died in 1941, when Jim was 3 years old, and who was called up to play baseball for the New York Yankees Baseball Team one week after his death, and his mother, Lois Eleanor Hurd-Kissinger-Mossman who died in 2011.

Visitation will be held from 2-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2012 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rick Stieglitz officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in memory of Mr. Kissinger to the Whitley County Humane Society or Heartland Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

JEANETTE A. HORRELL
Born: Wed Jul 7, 1926
Died: Tue Sep 11, 2012

Jeanette Adele Horrell, 86, of Howe, formerly of Rome City and Kendallville, IN passed away at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Life Care Center of LaGrange, LaGrange, IN. Born on July 7, 1926 in Columbia City, she was the daughter of Lawrence E. and Pearl Beatrice (Blew) Rubrake.

Jeanette grew up in Whitley County attending the McCellan and Collins Schools graduating from Larwill High School with the Class of 1942. She married Esta Edwin "Pete" Horrell on January 8, 1949 in Columbia City. A homemaker and mother, she first worked as a production worker at Caswell Runion, Huntington, from 1950-1956. From 1960-1969, she worked as a cook at the Wishbone Restaurant and Omega Lounge both in Huntington. From 1970-1976 and 1990-1997, she worked at Blaising's Tavern, Rome City.

Survivors include 2 children, Janet Kay Koughn of Howe and Dennis Allen Horrell of Hubert Heights, OH; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Kenneth D., George A. and Ronald Rubrake all of Columbia City and Roy E. Rubrake of South Whitley; 4 sisters, Treva Ott, Alabama, Caroline Grable and Cynthia Rubrake both of Columbia City, Pauline Wolfe of Great Falls, MT. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Esta Edwin "Pete" Horrell who passed away July 29, 1969; son, Jeffrey L. Horrel; 3 sisters, Sue Ann Rubrake, Betty McKibben and Ilene Kreider; twin brothers, Jerry and Terry and brothers, Martin Eugene, Donald L. Rubrake.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, September 14, 2012 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the funeral home with Sharon Brockhaus, Certified Funeral Celebrant, officiating. Burial at South Whitley cemetery. Memorials may be given in Mrs. Horrell's memory to the American Diabetes Association.

GENE MAYNARD HASKINS
Born: Thu Mar 7, 1946
Died: Fri Sep 7, 2012

Gene Maynard Haskins, age 66, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 7:25 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at his home. Born on March 7, 1946 in Sturgis, MI, he was the son of Maynard Albert and Kathleen Mae (Scott) Haskins.

He graduated from Brighton High School and recieved a Bachelors at IU, Bloomington. On September 4, 1971 he married Linda Burns in Crown Point, IN. He worked at Whitley County Soil and Water Contractor.

He is survived by his wife, Lyn; son, Garrick (Kylie) Haskins; daughters, Nicole (Tim) Rische, and Sarah (Matt) Swaim; grandchildren, Kinsey Haskins and Grier and Lance Swaim.

Memorial service from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012 at his home in Columbia City at 4901 Malcolm Ct. There will also be a celebration of his life in March 2013. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Nature Conservancy (www.nature.org). Arrangements were entrusted to DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, Columbia City.

JESSE L. GIBSON

Died: Sat Apr 28, 2012

Jesse Leroy Gibson, 70, of Columbia City died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Warsaw Meadows Care Center, Warsaw, IN. He was born on August 24, 1941 in Columbia City, the son of Clifford M. and Beulah M. (Zolman) Gibson.

He attended school in Whitley County where he spent his lifetime and he owned and operated Gibson’s Body Shop, Columbia City.

He is survived by his 5 children, Shawn E. (Sharon) Gibson, Larwill, Syrenia (Dan) Hilliard, Warsaw, Rob LeRoy Gibson, South Whitley, Shane LeRoy Gibson and Jeffrey D. (Julie) Gibson, both of Columbia City; 1 sister, Linda L. (Robert) Yates, South Whitley; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Rose “ChiChi” and 1 grandson, Bradley Gibson.

Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service immediately following calling at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Sharon Brockhaus, Certified Funeral Celebrant, officiating. Burial at Greenhill cemetery, Columbia City.

HARRY O. WORLEY
Born: Sun Aug 1, 1943
Died: Wed Apr 11, 2012

Harry O. Worley, age 68, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at his home. Born August 1, 1943 in Tazwell County, VA, he was the son of Harry O. and Clara M. (Tickle) Worley, Sr.

He lived in Allen and Whitley Counties his entire lifetime. After attending high school, he served in the United States Marines. He worked as a semi driver for 27 years and for ITT, Fort Wayne, for 19 1/2 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Kristina Byndom of Fort Wayne; companion, Ginger Tonkel of Columbia City; 3 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents.

KARL RICHARD PESICK

Karl Richard Pesick, age 80, of South Whitley, IN passed away at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Peabody Retirement Center, North Manchester. Born on March 27, 1932 in Cook County, Chicago, IL, he was the son of John and Blanche (Petrovic) Pesick.

He lived in Illinois then moved to South Whitley, IN in 2006. He graduated from Lane Tech High School, Chicago with the Class 1950, and attended college for two years. On October 21, 1974 he married Linda D. Hon at Chicago, IL. He served in United States Navy from 1952-1956. He was employed at Palos Community Hospital, Palos Heights, IL, Sears Security Guard, Orland Park, IL., Marquet National Bank, Orland Park, IL and Auxiliary Police Department, Park Forrest, IL. He was a member of Turning Point Church, South Whitley, IN.

Survivors include his wife, Linda D. Pesick of South Whitley; 6 children, Steven Karl (Amy) Pesick of Olympia Fields, IL; Karen R. (Charles) Overton of Rockford, IL; Tammi L. (David) Wagoner of Warsaw, IN; Jason A. (Deborah) Pesick of Columbia City; Melaina D. (Jason) Charleston of Steger, IL; Zachary J. Pesick of Camp Zama, Japan; 3 sisters, Rosemary Demkovich of Whiting, IN; Cathy Chester of Mt. Prospect, IL; Victoria Drain of Mt. Prospect, IL; 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sonia Pesick and brother, John Pesick.

Visitation is 2:30 - 4 p.m. with funeral service following calling at 4:30 p.m. Sunday May 20, 2012 at the Peabody Retirement Home Chapel, North Manchester, IN. Pastor Mark Pratt officiating. Burial at Veteran's cemetery, Marion, IN. Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Pesick's memory to Turning Point Church or the Alzheimers Association.. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

HARRY JAMES "JIMMY" DAILEY

Died: Sun Apr 1, 2012

Harry James "Jimmy" Dailey, age 68, of Columbia City, IN died at 9:28 a.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born July 4, 1943, in Fort Wayne, IN, he was the son of Harry E. and Mildred L. (Pelkey) Gill-Dailey.

He graduated from Central High School, Fort Wayne with the Class of 1962. After graduation, he served in the Army National Guard of Indiana as a reserve. He moved from Fort Wayne to Whitley County in 1974. He worked for Penn Central/Conrail Railroad for 18 years; Thomson Auto Sales, Columbia City for 20 years; The Dock, Columbia City for 9 years; and currently was employed as a security guard at SDI for the past 2 years.

Survivors include his brother, Kenneth A. (Bonnie) Miller of Hudson; 10 nephews and nieces including, Mike, Terry, Scott Dailey, Joni Fry, Brenda Hinsch, Carolyn Whitehead, Tim, Tom and Suzanne Miller and Sally Hamilton; several great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, D. Joan Pretorius and brother, Tom Dailey.

Visitation is 4-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Lindenwood cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Dailey to Parkview Coronary Care Unit. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

THELMA MILLIE PETTIGREW
Born: Sun Jan 24, 1915
Died: Wed Apr 18, 2012

Thelma Millie Pettigrew, age 97, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at her home. Born January 24, 1915 in New Haven, IN, she was the daughter of Harry J. and Bessie Artola (Bauserman) Smith.

She attended New Haven Elementary, Arcola High School and completed her education at Cass Tech in Detroit. She also attended night school at Dency & Warren Community College. She lived in New Haven through grade school and for a short time in Michigan. Her family moved to Arcola and in 1935 she moved to Detroit. From 1960-1965, she owned and operated Thelma's Restaurant in Detroit. She also managed several offices in the Detroit area before she moved to Columbia City in 1977.

Survivors include her brother, Jerry Smith of Cedarville; sister, Willodean Mason of Butler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Pettigrew who died in 1980; son, Larry Pettigrew; brothers, Stanley and Arnold Smith; sisters, Luella Hile, Goldie Kiser and Wilma Keister.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 11-1:00 pm at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Thorn cemetery, Ormas. Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Pettigrew's memory to Headquarters for Retinitis Pigmentosa, Maryland or Seeing Eye Dogs. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

TYLER J. GEISLEMAN

Tyler Jeffrey Geisleman, age 26, of Urbana, IN passed away at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born on July 1, 1985 in Huntington, he was the son of Jeff P. and Maria J. (Rupel) Geisleman.

He spent his lifetime in Huntington, Wabash and Whitley Counties, graduating from Huntington North High School. He first worked at Warner Electric and currently was employed at Reelcraft both of Columbia City.

Survivors include his father Jeff P. (Penne) Geisleman, Huntington; mother, Maria J. Rupel, Locust Grove, GA; sister, Michelle L. Delagrange, Greenfield; brother, Aaron J. Geisleman, Locust Grove, GA; 2 step sisters, Lacy L. and Sarah M. Good, both of Huntington; paternal grandparents, Paul and Pauline Geisleman, Columbia City and Duane and Carole Siders, Lagro; maternal grandmother, Margery (Gerry) Rupel, Huntington; 1 niece and 2 nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 1-3:00 p.m. with service immediately following at 3:00 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with Pastor Tammy Lugar of Washington Center United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012 at Covington Memorial Gardens, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
