Clifford Hoke, 93, of Fort Wayne, a retired group leader, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at Lutheran Home.

"He loved his family, his church and playing golf in the Senior League." The Monroe County, W.Va., native retired in 1971 from International Harvester Co. after 43 years of service. He was a member of Robinson Chapel United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Elenore M.; sons Gene N. of Orlando, Fla., and Ronald L. of Chandler, Ariz.; daughters Neva L. Beerbower of Leo-Cedarville and Sandra E. Harold of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. Services are 2 p.m. Monday at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 E. Dupont Road, with calling one hour before services and also from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Leo cemetery. Memorials are to the church.

Ryan J. Englehart
Fort Wayne - 1977-2002

Ryan J. Englehart, 24, of Fort Wayne, a 1996 graduate of South Side High School, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at University Hospital of Cleveland, Cleveland.

He was a Fort Wayne native. Surviving are his father, Randy of Hillsdale, Mich.; his mother, Rhonda Englehart of Coldwater, Mich.; brothers Jason and Rodney, both of Fort Wayne, and Joshua of Coldwater, Mich.; a sister, Janelle Englehart of Fort Wayne; and grandparents Lulabelle Englehart of Hillsdale, Mich., Ross Vincent of Onsted, Mich., and Barbara Vincent of Coldwater, Mich. Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, with calling from 11 a.m. until services. Burial will be at Lindenwood cemetery. Memorials are to the Children's Lung Foundation.

Mildred R. Gehring
Fort Wayne -1911-2002

Mildred R. Gehring, 91, of Fort Wayne, a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at home.

The DeKalb County native had worked as a licensed home day-care provider and was self-employed. Surviving are sons Ralph E. and William F., both of Fort Wayne; a sister, Cordelia O'Dell of Lowell, Mich.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Burial will be at Concordia Lutheran cemetery, N. Anthony Blvd. and Maumee Ave. Memorials are to the church or Bethesda Lutheran Homes & Services.

Clara M. Vanderford
Fort Wayne - 1916-2002

Clara M. Vanderford, 86, of Fort Wayne died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Lutheran Home. The Indianapolis native was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Richard F.; daughters Linda Morris of Fort Wayne and Nancy Skinner of Astoria, Ore.; a son, Richard F. Jr. of Richland, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Private services will be held. Memorials are to Lutheran Homes.

Lawrence E. Weibel
Fort Wayne - 1929-2002

Lawrence E. Weibel, 73, of Fort Wayne, a U.S. Navy veteran, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, in Fort Wayne.

The Fort Wayne native was retired from Tokheim Corp. after more than 23 years of service. He was elder and deacon of the former Westminister Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Jane; sons Jeff and Jay, both of Fort Wayne; daughters Laura Blum and Linda Vowles, both of Fort Wayne; brothers Dallas Jr. and Charles, both of Fort Wayne; sisters Jacquelyn Rusher of Tennessee, Arlene Gran of Wolcottville and Delores Stackhouse of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A sister preceded him in death. Services are noon Monday at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours before services and also from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials are to Parkview Home Health Care & Hospice.

Fort Wayne

Betty J. Trenary, 67, of Fort Wayne, a nurse's aide, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Lutheran Home.

The Ossian native worked for Lutheran Home, had worked for Slick's Laundry, and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Surviving are a brother, Don Stanley of Michigan; a stepbrother, Joseph Taylor of Fort Wayne; and nieces Sharon Breubaker of Defiance, Ohio, Shirley Thomas of Sherwood, Ohio, and Susie Lamphier of Ohio. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Highland Park cemetery Chapel, 2403 E. Wallen Road, with calling one hour before services.

Rita M. Ramsey Pollock
Fort Wayne - 1917-2003

Rita M. Ramsey Pollock, 85, of Fort Wayne, a member of American Legion Post 82 Auxiliary, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Saint Anne Home.

The Fort Wayne native retired in 1984 from Morrill Motors as an assembler after 29 years of service. Surviving are sons James L. Ramsey of Lakeview, Ohio, and John C. Ramsey of Woodburn; a brother, John Schone of Sebring, Fla.; sisters Marian Klien of Fort Wayne, Alice Kaspari of Bensenville, Ill., and Catherine Shine of Lapine, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L., and a sister. Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Anne Home, 1900 Randallia Drive, with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St. Burial will be at Catholic cemetery. Memorials are to the donor's choice.

Mary Jo Piatt, 70, of Fort Wayne, a former clerk for S & H Green Stamps, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at home.

The Fort Wayne native had also worked for Peerless Cleaners as a clerk and was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church. Surviving are her husband, Andrew J.; sons Scott E. Minich and Andrew J. Piatt Jr., both of Fort Wayne; daughters Sharon Bowman of Harrison, Ark., and Sandra Piatt of Fort Wayne; a brother, Don W. Chapman of Grabill; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A son, Donald W. Piatt, preceded her in death. There are no services or calling. Burial will be at Highland Park cemetery. Memorials are to Parkview Home Health Care & Hospice.

George S. Nichols, 34, of Fort Wayne, a native of Roanoke, Va., died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at home.

"George was a beloved son and brother." Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Sharon and Carter Short of Fort Wayne; his father, Richard J. of Roanoke, Va.; sisters Cherrie Stiles of Temecula, Calif., Cindy Mohamed of Hartford, Conn., and Jessica Nichols of Roanoke, Va.; and brothers David of Kendallville and Charles, Richard and Elmo, all of Fort Wayne. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., with calling from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials are to the American Diabetes Association.

Kathleen Sue Delagrange Chavez
Huntertown - 1950-2003

Kathleen Sue Delagrange Chavez, 52, of Huntertown, a former licensed practical nurse, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Lutheran Hospital.

"She committed her life to the Lord in August 2002." The Fort Wayne native had worked for Parkview Hospital and as a home health nurse in Nevada. Surviving are a son, Steven Delagrange of Burr Oak, Mich.; her mother, Marie Lengacher of New Haven; brothers Kevin Delagrange of Spencerville and Mark Delagrange of New Haven; sisters Louetta Schwartz of Burr Oak, Mich., Leann White of Fort Wayne, Mary Lou Myers of Huntertown and Linda Yoder of Mark Center, Ohio; her grandmother, Emma Fisher of Leo-Cedarville; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother. Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Cuba Mennonite Church, 10835 Cuba Road, Harlan, with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 6 to 9 p.m. today and also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, all at the church. Burial will be at Yaggy cemetery. Memorials are to the Cuba Mennonite Christian School.
