Mary Frisinger, 75

Mary Frisinger, 75, of Lafayette, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at Mulberry Health and Retirement.

Born Nov. 21, 1929, in rural Wayne, Ohio, she was a 1947 graduate of Portage Township High School in Wood County, Ohio, and attended Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. She had lived in the Lafayette area for the past three years and spent most of her life in Ohio.

She married John J. Fay on Dec. 28, 1945, and they divorced. She married L. Frank Frisinger on March 31, 1968, and he died on March 22, 2003.

Mrs. Frisinger was a former editor for the Edon Commercial from 1953 to 1955, the co-owner and publisher of the Anthony Wayne Standard in Waterville, Ohio, from 1955 to 1959 and was the society editor for the Northwest-Signal in Napoleon, Ohio, from 1959 to 1963. She also worked as a news correspondent for the Cleveland Press, the Toledo Blade, and the Crescent-News from 1963 to 1966 and served as the area editor for the Crescent-News from 1966 to 1986.

She was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary Post 3360 in Defiance, Ohio, and the AMVETS Auxiliary Post 1991, also in Defiance. She was also a member of the NW Ohio Newspaper Association and the Ohio Newspaper Women's Association.

Surviving is a daughter, Connie Vanderport of Antrim, N.H.; and two brothers, Franklin Benschoter and Robert Benschoter, both of Wayne.

No services are planned. Surviving are 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Adele Serrano, and her parents, Frank and Ruth Burkett Benschoter. Hippensteel Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Alfred G. Lindahl, 77

MOROCCO -- Alfred "Al" G. Lindahl, 77, of Morocco, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at his home.

Born April 5, 1928, in Beaverville, Ill., he was a life resident of the Morocco area and a 1948 graduate of Mt. Ayr High School.

He married Janet Deardruff on June 12, 1955, in Morocco, and she survives.

Mr. Lindahl worked at Amerigas as a gas delivery man until his retirement in 1993.

He was a member of the United Church of Morocco and was on the executive board and building committee in addition to being a deacon of the church. He was a former member of the Knights of Pythias and the Morocco Lions Club and was former president of the North Newton Athletic Boosters.

Surviving with his wife are four daughters, Kim Lindahl and Trish Styck (husband: John), both of Morocco, Stephanie Brown (husband: Mike) of Avon and Dee Polk (husband: Pat) of Peru, Ind.; a brother, Bill Lindahl of Morocco; and a sister, Almedia Deardruff of Rensselaer.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lang Funeral Home in Morocco. Services there 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Pastor Tom Jackson officiating. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date at Oakland Cemetery in Morocco. Surviving are 5 grandchildren and 3 stepgrandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Winslow Lindahl. Memorials may be made to the Jasper County Hospital Home Healthcare and Hospice.

Wanda M. Price, 83

FRANKFORT -- Wanda M. Price, 83, of 1507 W. Morrison St., died at 1:36 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette.

Born July 12, 1922, in Tipton, she was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Tipton and was a Frankfort resident for the past 62 years.

Her marriage was to Kenneth W. Price, and he preceded her in death in August 1951.

Mrs. Price worked for Clinton County Hospital in the dietary department as evening supervisor for 20 years, retiring in 1983. She had also been head cook at church camp in Hartford City for 20 years.

She was a member of Apostolic Bible Church and was active in many church activities.

Surviving are three daughters, Stephanie Renick (husband: Dennis) and Debbie Bennett, both of Frankfort, and Dianna Cox (husband: J.R.) of Vero Beach, Fla.

Services are Tuesday in Frankfort.

Jesse W. Bass Jr., 80

COVINGTON -- Jesse Warren Bass Jr., 80, died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2005, at Cal Turner Extended Care in Scottsville, Ky.

Born Sept. 22, 1924, in Chrisman, Ill., he was a resident of Scottsville for 20 years and was a former resident of Veedersburg, Kingman and Crawfordsville.

He married Mary L. Randolph on Sept. 6, 1946, and she died Dec. 22, 2004.

Mr. Bass was an Army veteran who had served in World War II.

He worked as a binder for 20 years at R. R. Donnelley and Son in Crawfordsville.

Mr. Bass was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War in Scottsville and was a former member of American Legion Post 72 in Crawfordsville.

Surviving is a daughter, Elaine Parks (husband: Kevin) of Sterling, Va.; and a brother, Chester Bass of Scottsville.

Services are Wednesday in Covington.

Robert G. Christenson, 75

LAKE VILLAGE -- Robert G. Christenson, 75, of Lake Village, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005.

Mr. Christenson was a Korean War veteran.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Gloria Christenson; four children, Mark Christenson (wife: Gale), Grant Christenson (wife: Tina) and Jana Szczepanski (husband: Darin), all of Lake Village, and Mona Gregerson of Momence, Ill.; and four sisters, Evelyn Sparks of Kentland, June Gribbon of Greenwood, Barbara Dawson (husband: Dean) of Lake Village and Kathryn Wiseman (husband: Dale) of Morocco.

Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday at Sheets Funeral Home, 604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell, Pastor Duwayne Hitz officiating. Interment Lake Village Cemetery. Surviving are 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brother, Harry Christenson Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association.

Pauline Waldron, 94

OTTERBEIN -- Pauline Waldron, 94, of 1205 N. 14th St., Lafayette, formerly of Otterbein, died at 3:08 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at St. Anthony Health Care.

Born Jan. 22, 1911, in Greencastle, she was a graduate of Greencastle High School and had lived in the Lafayette area for 46 years. She had also resided in Saline City for 13 years.

She married Glen Waldron on Aug. 14, 1928, in Greencastle, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 3, 1983.

Mrs. Waldron worked for several various businesses including Eisner's Bakery, Kyger Bakery, Cary Home for Children and Big Pine Egg Farm. She also wrote for the Clay City newspaper and the Benton Review in addition to working at the Pythian Home Farm where she resided for 13 years.

She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and the Saline City United Methodist Church. She was the founder of the Otterbein Caring and Sharing Granny Band for Widows, a member of TOPS Club of Otterbein, a member of Otterbein United Methodist Women, a member and officer of the Saline City Home Ec Club, a member of the Clay County Home Ec Club, a member of the West Bolivar Extension Club and volunteered for the Otterbein Care Center and the Saline City Labor Day Picnic.

Mrs. Waldron was a foster mother for several children. She enjoyed attending horse shows and was an avid fan of Purdue basketball and the Indiana Pacers.

Surviving is a daughter, Darlene Walters of West Lafayette.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Shoemaker Funeral Home in Otterbein. Service there 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. David J. Smitley officiating. Interment Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green, IN. Surviving are 2 granddaughters, Tracie Shoults (husband: Kevin) of West Lafayette and Tammy Crozier (husband: James) of Otterbein; and 2 great-grandsons, Tyler Shoults and Clayton Crozier. Preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Sarah Ellen Sears; 2 brothers, Russell and Raymond Sears; 2 sisters, Helen Davis and Gladys Spiker; 2 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Health Care Activity Dept. or St. Elizabeth Hospice.

Richard C. Westphal, 70

REYNOLDS -- Richard C. "Dick" Westphal, 70, of Reynolds, died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He had been in failing health for the last few years.

Born June 18, 1935, in Reynolds, he was a graduate of Reynolds High School and was a life resident of the area.

His marriage was to Donna Thompson on Feb. 20, 1955, in Chalmers. She survives.

Mr. Westphal was a self-employed plumber and also did plumbing for Purdue University. He was also an agricultural salesman, an auxiliary policeman in West Lafayette for many years and was a restorer of fine furniture.

He and his wife attended Calvary Chapel in Lafayette.

Mr. Westphal enjoyed flying and reading.

Surviving with his wife are their children, Jeff Westphal (wife: Rami) of Remington, Rick Westphal (wife: Gwen) of Battle Ground, Vicki Bone (husband: Gary) of Danville, Ind., Pam McCormick of Lafayette and Kim Walters (husband: Steve) of Fowler; his mother; Louella Westphal of Reynolds; and his sister, Sonya Shivley (husband: Carl) of Chalmers.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon service time Thursday at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home, Brookston. Interment to follow at Mt. Gilboa Cemetery. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren with whom he enjoyed attending their various activities and whom he loved very much. Preceding him in death is his father, Truman Westphal. Memorials may be made in his honor to the Mt. Gilboa Church.

Ann L. Gadd, 86

Ann L. Gadd, 86, of West Lafayette, died at 3:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, at Heritage Health Care.
