THANE B. CHASE

WICHITA ญญ Thane B. Chase, 67, brother of Plains resident Athol C. Chase, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, in Wichita.

He was a resident of Wichita.

He was a retired accountant for Chase Enterprises Inc.

He served in the United States Navy and retired with the rank of LCDR.

Survivors include two sons, Frank B. Chase, Valley Center, and Thane B. Chase Jr., Glendale, Ariz.; one daughter, Janet Elaine Chase, Wichita; one brother, Athol C. Chase, Plains; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Central Baptist Church in Wichita.

Friends may call until 5 p.m. today at the Dunsford Chapel at Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta.

Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund.

ALEX BARNHART SR.

INGALLS ญญ Alex Barnhart Sr., 60, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.

He was born Dec. 5, 1942, to Ted and Janie (Morin) Barnhart in Corn City, Texas.

He married Mary Torres in 1961, in Brownfield, Texas. She survives.

He was a farm laborer.

He was a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors also include four sons, Alex Barnhart Jr. and wife, Janie, Dodge City; Ricky Barnhart, Ellsworth; Tony Barnhart and Henry Barnhart, both of Ingalls; one daughter, Janie Barnhart, Ingalls; three brothers, Felix Barnhart, Brownfield, Texas, Roy Barnhart, Greeley, Colo., and Eloy Barnhart, El Paso, Texas; three sisters, Alicia DeLon, Lorine Tijecina, and Corine Gutteriz, all of Brownfield; 16 grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Ingalls, with Father Joseph Bahr presiding.

Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Ingalls, with Father Joseph Bahr presiding.

Burial will be at the Plains Cemetery in Plains.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 2-5 p.m. Monday at Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma.

A memorial has been established for the donor's choice. Memorials may be mailed to Montezuma Funeral Home, P.O. Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.

DORIS M. WINSTON

Doris Mae Winston, 80, of Liberal, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003.

Survivors include, one son, Darrell, Peyton, Colo.; one daughter, Carol Erickson, Wichita; one brother, Buddy Blosser, Littleton, Colo.; four sisters, Lenore Hinkle, Paonia, Colo., Janis Carnahan, Ponca City, Okla., Joan Kisner, Plains, Donna Singh, Pueblo, Colo.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Downing and Lathey Mortuary East Chapel in Wichita.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Restlawn Cemetery in Liberal.

Memorials are suggested to Hope Community Church, 1831 East 21st Street, Andover, KS, 67002.

BENNY N. EDIGER

MEADE ญญ Benny N. Ediger, 74, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Minneola District Hospital in Minneola.

He was born Jan. 20, 1928, to John P. and Agnes (Neufeld) Ediger in Meade.

He was a lifetime resident of Meade.

He married Helen Friesen on May 7, 1950, in Inman. She survives.

He attended Pleasant Hill School and Meade Bible Academy.

He was a farmer and stockman.

He was a member of the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church in rural Meade. He also served on the boards of Meade County Farm Bureau, and Meade County Soil Conservation.

Other survivors include, one son, Laural Ediger, Meade; one daughter, Marjorie Ediger, also of Meade; two sisters, Elizabeth Wiens, Meade, and Marie Rempel, Sun City, Ariz; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Bruce; and four brothers, John. N., Abe N., Frank N., Martin N., and Henry N. Ediger.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church in Meade with the Rev. David Cummings presiding.

Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.

Memorials are suggested to EMB Church Missions, Teens Living for Christ, or the Bean Senior Center, all in care of Fidler-Orme Mortuary, 212 South Fowler St., Meade, KS, 67864.

RUBY M. MURPHY

SYRACUSE ญญ Ruby Mae (Penn) Murphy, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at home in Syracuse.

She was born Aug. 30, 1916, to Howard William Penn and Anna Mae (Cantrell) Penn in Noel, Mo.

She married Roy Allen Murphy on May 25, 1935, in Pineville, Mo. He preceded her in death.

She attended school in Noel.

She was a homemaker.

Her hobbies included yard work, crafts, quilting, painting, camping and fishing.

She was a member of the Noel Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include, five sons, Bill Murphy and wife, Carolyn, Ted Murphy and wife, Virginia, both of Syracuse, Charles Murphy, Keller, Texas, Bob Murphy, Dwain Murphy and wife, Sandra, all of Garden City; six daughters, Loretta Wilson and husband, Delmar, Oklahoma City, Okla., Lorene Matthews and husband, George, Lakin, Imogene "Jo" Coghill and husband, Gene, and Rosalee Wyatt, both of Syracuse, Ruth McCoy, Loveland, Colo., Linda Dent and husband, Leon, Bringham City, Utah; four brothers, Chester William Penn and wife, Faye, and Frank Albert and wife, Joyce, both of Noel, Oscar Powell Penn and wife, Faustine, Cassville, Mo., Louis Penn and wife, Loyetta, Mansville, Mo.; three sisters, Virgie Ida Minerva Hobbs, Kansas, Louise Penn Hobbs, Southwest City, Mo., Frieda Nadine Burnette and husband, Calvin, Gravette, Ark.; one sister-in-law, Nellie Penn, Noel; 33 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her father and mother; one son, Benny Joe Murphy; two brothers, Floyd Howard Penn and Sherman Elijah Penn; two sisters, Jane Grace Rosemary Murphy and Bonnie Bell Penn; three brother-in-laws, Doran Hobbs, Kenneth Murphy, and Lester Hobbs; one grandchild, Charles Murphy, Jr.; two son-in-laws, Jerrald McCoy, and Lyman Wyatt; and one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Jean Murphy.

Graveside funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Syracuse Cemtery in Syracuse.

Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today, and from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greene-Fellers Funeral Home in Syracuse.

Memorials are suggested to donor's choice in care of Greene-Fellers Funeral Home & Monuments, PO Box 1253, Syracuse, KS, 67878-1253.

JUNE C. PHILLIPS

HUGOTON ญญ June C. Phillips, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Hugoton.

She was born June 7, 1919, to Charles E. and Della G. (Greenwood) Coulter in Stevens County.

She was a lifetime resident of Hugoton.

She married Eldon Phillips on June 23, 1940, in Hugoton. He survives.

She was a bookkeeper for Bob's Body Shop, Parker Brother's Pontiac, and Coulter Implement Company, all in Hugoton.

Her hobbies included bowling, needle point, traveling and fishing.

She was a member of United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a Past Matron of Eastern Star, and V.F.W. Auxilliary, all in Hugoton.

Other survivors include, two sons, Donald K. Phillips and wife, Patricia, and Ronald J. Phillips, both of Hugoton; two brothers, Gilbert H. Coulter and wife, Wilma, Donald K. Coulter and wife, Joyce, also of Hugoton; one sister, Eula Mae Peterson and husband, C.F., Hugoton; one grandson, Brandon Phillips; two granddaughters, Katrina and Lynette Phillips; numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Stephen E. and Harold A. Coulter; five sisters, Nellie G. French, W. Blanche Webb, Neva J. Coulter, Margaret V. Coulter, and Betty Lou Anderson.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hugoton Cemtery in Hugoton with the Rev. Robert Bailey presiding.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday at Paul's Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice in care of Paul's Funeral Home, Box 236, Hugoton, KS, 67951.

MARILYN K. WILLIAMS

HUGOTON ญญ Marilyn K. Williams, 56, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at Chevy Chase Nursing Home in Chicago.

Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Garnand FUneral Home in Hugoton.

MILFORD D. KOEHN

Milford D. Koehn, 85, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center inLiberal.

He was born Dec. 21, 1917, to David H. and Dena (Wedel) Koehn in Kismet.

He married Mae A. Graber Sept. 30, 1939. She survives.

He was a life-time rsident of Southwest Kansas, having graduated from Plains High School in 1936. He earned an Associate Degree from Dodge City Community College.

He retired after 30 years in the contracting business.

His hobbies included singing and spending time with family. He also debated and spoke at Dale Carnegie courses, and was a member of the Knife and Fork Club.

He was also a member of First Untied Methodist Church in Liberal.

Other survivors include two sons, Gary L. Hoehn and wife, Beth, and Steven R. Koehn, all of Liberal; four grandaughters, Shari Koehn, Susan Koehn, Candice Koehn, all of Liberal, and Amy Marino, Tulsa; one brother-in-law, Eugene L. Graber and wife, Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Erving Koehn, Wichita; and one sister, Margaret Koehn Decker, Boulder, Colo.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Liberal with the Rev. Ken Hathaway presiding.

Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church in care of Miller Mortuary, 908 N. Lincoln, Libreal, KS 67901.
