LEONARD P. BROWN

Leonard Patrick "Pat" Brown, 77, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born July 11, 1925, to Leonard and Frances (Hook) Brown in Antler, Okla.

He married Doris Hitchcock in 1958 in Perryton, Texas. She died in 1988.

He married Carol Evenson-Kowing May 6, 1989, in Liberal. She survives.

He was a WWII Army veteran, and also a maintenance supervisor for National Helium for 25 years.

He had been a Liberal resident for 51 years.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and also attended the Western Avenue Church of Christ in Liberal. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE No. 1947, and former member of the Petroleum Club.

Other survivors include, two sons, Tony Hitchcock and wife, Prisella, Durant, Okla., and Jimmy Pat Brown, Indiana; one daughter, Janet Baker and husband Carrol, Albuquerque, N.M.; one step-son, Ray Boone and wife, Karmin, Pratt; two step-daughters, Jan Schilens and husband, George, and Rena Cross and husband, Mark, both of Liberal; one brother, Michael Brown, Oklahoma City; three sisters, Mary Brown, and Helen Hash, both of Oklahoma City, and Esther Slaughter, Miami, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren, including Tony Baker and wife, Jenny, Hugoton; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Joan Hitt.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today at Western Avenue Church of Christ in Liberal with Wade Tannehill presiding.

Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Crossroads Center Inc. in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd, Liberal, KS 67901.

NORMA J. WHITE

HUGOTON ญญ Norma Jean White, 69, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

She was born Nov. 26, 1933, to Jacob Franklin and Edith (Rowan) Pontius in Hugoton.

She married Sherman Leon Gray in 1959. He preceded her in death.

She married Joseph Lange in 1969. He died in 1978.

She married Kenneth White in 1982. He died in 1987.

She was a nurse's aid and cared for the elderly. She was also a bookkeeper and worked as a deputy for the Stevens County Sherriff's Office.

Her hobbies included spending time with her son, gardening and canning.

She was a lifetime Hugoton resident.

Survivors include her son, Don Gray, Hugoton; one brother, Joe Pontius and wife, Ursula, Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Edna Denton, Long Beach, and Margaret Roberts, Eagle Grove, Iowa; numerous nephews and nieces.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Paul's Funeral Home in Hugoton with the Rev. Robert Bailey presiding.

Burial will be at Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, and from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the family in care of Paul's Funeral Home, PO Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.

WILBERT R. BABB

PAMPA, Texas ญญ William Ray Babb, 72, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in Amarillo, Texas.

He was born Nov. 3, 1930, to W.L. and Mae Babb in Old Alluwe, Okla.

He married Roberta Silcott June 3, 1951. She survives.

He graduated from Pampa High School in 1948.

He worked for Ideal Food Stores as a butcher in Liberal from 1966 to 1984. He was also co-owner of Babb Portable Buildings in Pampa. He served in the National Guard for 13 years.

His hobbies included his grandchildren, and going to have coffee with friends.

He was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Other survivors include, one daughter, Susan Ratzlaff, Pampa; one son, Curtis Babb and wife, Christine, Pampa; one sister, Francis Richardson and husband, Lonnie, Boise City, Okla.; three grandchildren, Tacy Lamb and husband, Jay, and K'Lee Ratzlaff, all of Spearman, Texas, and Dustin Stoddard, Pampa; five great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Powell, Rion Broome, and Chelsey Lamb, all of Spearman, Alexis Stoddard of Pampa, and Jacob Stoddard, Clarendon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Feb. 14 at Central Baptist Church with the Pastor Dr. Derrell Monday, and the Rev. Rick Parnell presiding.

Burial was at Fairview Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Central Baptist Church, 513 E. Francis, Pampa, TX 79065.

THOMAS D. BOYD III

LONGMONT, Colo. ญญ Thomas D. Boyd III, 81, died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at his home in Longmont.

He was born March 24, 1921, to Thomas D. Boyd Jr. and Helene (Jackson) Boyd in Los Angeles, Calif.

He married Jeanne (Dodson) Atkinson in 1957. She survives.

He graduated from Hollywood High School. He earned a journalism degree from Stanford University in 1949.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked as a reporter/broadcaster with the Armed Forces Network in Germany.

His hobbies included photography, and playing in a band.

He was a member of the Longmont Council for the Arts, Longmont Artists Guild, and served on the Board of Symphony Orchestra.

Other survivors include, one son, Alan Boyd, Los Angeles; one step-son, Steven Dodson and wife, Sandra, Boise, Idaho; one granddaughter; two nephews, Mike Atkinson, Liberal, and Brad Atkinson, Apex, N.C.; one brother, Bill Atkinson and wife, Lynn, Liberal.

Cremation has taken place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Longmont.

Memorials are suggested to The Longmont Symphony Society in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry Street, Longmont, CO 80501.

VIOLET DEWOLFE

AMARILLO, Texas ญญ Violet DeWolfe, 88, diedFriday, Feb. 21, 2003, in Amarillo.

She was born April 29, 1914, in Beaver County, Okla.

She married Robert M. DeWolfe Jan. 31, 1942 in Canyon. He died Jan. 14, 2002.

She graduated from Oklahoma State College in 1943. In 1946, she moved to Amarillo and taught art at Forest Hill Elementary. She earned her master's from West Texas State College in 1955. After retiring in 1979, she taught art at Lamar Elementary.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Kappa Iota, the Retired Teachers Association, and Washington Avenue Christian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Raymona J. Longanecker and husband, Dr. Ronald M., Amarillo; three sisters, Erma Wallace, Denver, Joyce Harper, Liberal, and Normagene King, Pocatello, Idaho; one brother, Donald Dean Heitschmidt, Liberal; three grandchildren, Travis L. Longanecker and wife, Kristi, Perryton, Texas, Jameson T. Longanecker and wife, Tamra, Amarillo, and Katherine Brooke Wilson and husband, Clinton, Seattle; and two great-grandchildren, Christian Cole Longanecker and Hattie Longanecker, both of Perryton.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Christian August Longanecker in 1990.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at N.S. Griggs and Sons Pioneer Chapel with the Rev. Paul DeWolfe presiding.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo.

Memorials are suggested to the Christian August Longanecker Fund in care of Andrews Episcopal School, 1515 S. Georgia, Amarillo, TX 79102.

RUBY STEVENSON

DECORAH, Iowa ญญ Ruby Stevenson, 96, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, in Decorah.

Services are pending and will be announced by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Okla.

HOWARD D. CAMPBELL

Johnson ญญ Howard D. Campbell, 71, of Lakin, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.

He was born July 24, 1931, to Herbert Campbell and Lola (Hague) Campbell Hudgens in Haviland.

He married Ruby Carter Nov. 16, 1958, in Ulysses. She survives.

He graduated from Johnson High School in 1949.

He served as a U.S. Marine during the Korean War, and was a farmer for 44 years until retirement in 2002.

He was a member of the Manter Methodist Church and lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Other survivors include, three daughters, Sandra Streckfus, Lakin, Shari Campbell, Hutchinson, and Sally Campbell, Holcomb; two brothers, Richard Campbell, Big Bow, Jim Campbell, Booker, Texas; four grandchildren, Joe, Austin, and William Streckfus, and Sydney Campbell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Herb Campbell.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson with the Rev. Dave Kaufman presiding.

Burial with military rites will follow at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family receiving friends from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or Cal Farley's Boy's Ranch in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 605 W. North, Johnson, KS 67855.
