MARVIN L. HARLOW
SATANTA Marvin L. Harlow, 87, of Satanta, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born August 18, 1915, to Robert Young and Ella Lenora (Chapman) Harlow in Seward County.
He was a lifetime Satanta resident.
His hobbies included spending time with family and friends, fishing, and making new friends.
Survivors include, three brothers, Austin Harlow and wife, Marrietta, Wichita, Henry Harlow and wife, Lexine, and Oliver Harlow and wife, Zona, all of Satanta; three sisters, Inez Burling, Arlington, Faye Foster, Lamar, Colo., Fern Williams, Kingman; and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Floyd and Sherman Harlow; and one sister, Alice McIver.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Dudley Township Cemetery
in Satanta with the Minister Ray Tweed presiding
Burial will follow at Dudley Township Cemetery
in Satanta.
Friends may call from until 8 p.m. today, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

ALFRED OSBORNE
PLAINS Alfred "Jack" Osborne, 83, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Satanta District Hospital in Satanta.
He was born Dec. 13, 1919, to Frank and Myrtle (Powers) Osborne in Williamsville, Mo.
He married Bertha Mae Lynde Oct. 2, 1944, in Corning, Ark. She survives.
He attended country school in rural Williamsville.
He had been a resident of Plains since April 1946.
He was the owner and operator of Plains Gas Company, retiring in 1986.
Other survivors include one son, Jackie Osborne and wife, Jean, Salina; one brother, Fred Osborne, Peoria, Ill.; one sister, Marie Manns, Peoria; two grandchildren, Alex Osborne, and Jennifer Hooten and husband, Chris, Salina; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Tabatha Kirchner, Salina.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Plains with the Rev. Nathan Stanton presiding.
Cremation has already taken place.

DAN FRAZIER
MINNEOLA Dan Frazier, 63, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at his home in Minneola.
He was born Nov. 11, 1939, to John Elbert and Mary Claire (Wetmore) Frazier in Fowler.
He married Twila Siegrist Jan. 23, 1958, in Colorado Springs, Colo. She survives.
He had been a resident on Minneola since 1994, moving from rural Fowler.
He worked as a farmer and cowboy. He also had worked as an EMT for CLark County Emergency Services; as a custodian for USD 219 in Minneola; and as a driver for the Boot Hill STage Coach in Dodge City.
He was a member of United Methodist Church in Minneola and worked with youth groups.
Other survivors include his mother, Wichita, one son, Pete Frazier and wife, Victoria, Minneola; three daughters, Chris Sidebottom and husband, Randy, Ingalls, Danielle and fiancé, Pete Mulgrew, Dallas, and Betty Stephens and husband, Michael, Wichita; three sisters, Rosa Pathbun and husband, Howard, Yuma, Ariz., Carol Ann Rosel, Dodge City, and Laura Tullis and husband, Ross, Raymore, Mo.; and 12 grandchildre.
Funeral Services were Frida, May 2, 2003, at Minneola Grade School Gymnasium with the Rev. Robert Seth presiding.
Burial was at Appleton Township Cemetery
near Minneola.

ELTHA D. BROWN
MEADE Eltha D. Brown, 95, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Life Care Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
She was born Feb, 15, 1908, to W.G. and Sara Louise (Lafferty) Hallock in Mullinville.
She married Leonard C. Brown June 8, 1929, in Meade. He died Dec. 27, 1981.
She had been a resident of Meade since 1922. SHe and her husband owned and operated Brown's Furniture and Appliance Center in Meade.
She was a member of United Methodist Church, Priscilla Club and Order of the Eastern Star, all in Meade.
Survivors include one son, Philip E. Brown, Meade; one daughter, Betty Innis, Woodland Park, Colo.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
SHe was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Louie S. Hallock.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Meade with the Rev. Susan Greene presiding.
Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery
in Meade.
Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme Funeral Home in Meade.
VIRGIL L. WARD
ULYSSES Virgil L. Ward, 77, Ulysses, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.
He was born Jan. 5, 1926, to Jessy and Hattie M. (Lloyd) Ward in Tribbey, Okla.
He married Mary Ellen Battin Jan. 1, 1948, in Manter. She survives.
He grew up in Rawlins COunty and attended country school in Achillas. While in Oberlin, he attended Decatur County High School, but quit after his father's death to work on the family farm.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He attended Kansas State University and graduated from St. Louis University School of Dentistry.
He started a dentist practice in Ulysses in 1953.
He was a member of the American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association, Delta Sigma Dental Fraternity, served several terms on the Ulysses School Board, and was a member of Charles B. Hart American Legion Post No. 79 in Ulysses.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ulysses.
Other survivors include three sons, Robert D. Ward and wife, Cindy, Angleton, Texas, Dr. John R. Ward and wife, Lennis, Hugoton, and Dr. Larry G. Ward and wife, Peggy, Wichita; one daughter, Nancy Ward, Garden City; one sister, Vida Gilbert, Deerfield, Colo.; one sister-in-law, Cora Ward, Seattle; 14 grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with the Rev. Dennis H. Livingston presiding.
Burial will be at Ulysses Cemetery
in Ulysses with military rites presented by Charles B. Hart Post No. 79.

KENNETH G. WIENS
CIMARRON Kenneth G. Wiens, 70, died Friday, May 9, 2003, at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City.
He was born Jan. 5, 1933, to Daniel W. and Hulda (Kliewer) Wiens at Cimarron.
He married Lucille Westerman Nov. 27, 1955, in Nashville, Kan. She survives.
He was a lifetime resident of Cimarron, and owned and operated Wiens Oil fro 29 years. He also worked for Cimarron Insurance fro 10 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was awarded the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Dodge City.
Other survivors include three sons, Steve Wiens and wife, Barbara, Haysville, Greg Wiens and wife, Beth, McPherson, and Roger Wiens and wife, Shari, Johnson; one daughter, Linda Ricker and husband, John, Raymond; one sister, Betty Johnson, Marion; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Dodge City with the Rev, Randall L. Jahnke presiding.

VERYL A. WEHR
LEXINGTON, Neb. Veryl A. Wehr, 68, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at his home in Johnson Lake, Neb.
He was born Jan. 20, 1935, to Ambrose Walter and Ruby Marie (McKeighan) Wehr in Portsmouth, Iowa.
He married Fay Hutsel June 4, 1955.
He married Eilene Thomas May 6, 1967 in Bennet, Neb. She Survives.
He moved to Lexington in 1968 and purchased Hennek and Company T.V. Service, and operated it under the name Veryl's T.V. and Appliance Service. In 1983, he expanded the business and renamed it Techni Sales and Service.
He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, past member of Nebraska Electronics Services Association, the Elks Lodge, the Moose Lodge, the Lion's Club, and Johnson Lake Development Board of Directors.
His hobbies included fishing, bating, barbecuing, playing hand-held electronic games, restoring his 1941 Ford, and visiting with family and his grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Doug Wehr and wife, Marian, Lexington, and David Snyder and wife, JoEllen, Loveland, Colo.; one daughter, Theresa "Terri" Casper and husband, Craig, Lexington; two brothers, William Wehr and wife, Cheryl, Wall, S.D., and Larry Wehr and wife, Carrie, Harlan, Iowa; one sister, Geraldine Bentley and husband, Russ, Liberal; 10 grandchildren, Jason, Christopher and Julie Wehr, Daniel, Alyssa, Mary Beth and Becky Jo Snyder, and Curt, Eric and Blake Casper; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother-in-law, Lyle Ingwersen; and sister-in-law, Karen Wehr.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington with the Pastor Terry Pole and the Rev. Don Buhrman presiding.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery
in Lexington.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington with Wake service to follow at 7 p.m. at the chapel.
