HOWARD LENARD ZUROFF

Howard Lenard Zuroff, 51, Sublette, died Friday, May 23, 2003, at Satanta District Hospital, Satanta.

He was born Nov. 9, 1951, to Henry Dee and Mildred Evelyn (Hanson) Zuroff in Bismarck, N.D.

He married Connie Coker June 1, 2002, in Sublette.

He has lived in Baker, Okla., Moscow, Liberal and Sublette, Kan.

He worked as a diesel mechanic for Sublette Farm Equipment in Sublette.

His hobbies included spending time with his family, golfing, fishing and visiting friends.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Liberal.

He is survived by his wife; four brothers, Dennis Zuroff and wife, Ada, of South Carolina, Donnie Zuroff and wife, Dianna, of French Town, Mont., Ronnie Zuroff of Bismarck, N.D. and Dean Zuroff of Bismarck, N.D.; one sister, Dorothy Young and husband, Jim, Cleveland, Tenn.; two sons, Troy Zuroff and wife, Cristy, of Liberal, and Clay Chaney and wife, Gayla, of Wewoka, Okla.; four daughters, Jennifer Turpin and husband, Gregg, of Liberal, Crystal Dunkerson and husband, Randy, of Guymon, Okla., Devin Rodriquez and husband, Gilbert, of Liberal and Dana Nelson and husband, Greg, of Liberal; 13 grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harold Zuroff.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Liberal with Rev. David Bagwell and Rev. Dan Pearce presiding

Burial will be in the Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

Memorials may be sent to the family in care of Haskell County Funeral Home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.

ARLENE M. MINKS

ULYSSES ญญ Arlene Mae Minks, 71, Ulysses, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St,. Francis Campus in Wichita.

She was born March 25, 1932, to Marion and Lydia (Johnson) Dirks in Buttermilk.

She married Earl L. Minks Nov. 20, 1951, in Greensburg. He survives.

She moved to Ulysses in 1959, and she was a homemaker.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ulysses.

Other survivors include three sons, Rick Minks and wife, Donna, Austin, Texas, Mark Minks and wife, Sue, Meade, and Dan Minks and wife, Jo Beth, Gilbert, Ariz.; one daughter, Diane Okeson and husband, Dave, Winfield; two sisters, Alsine Ryan and husband, Joe, Houston, and Marlene Harvey and husband, Ken, Newton; seven grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with the Rev. Dennis Livingston presiding.

Graveside services were at 3 p.m. today at Fairview Cemetery in Greensburg.

Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church Bell Choir in care of Grant County Funeral Home, 218 S. Main, Ulysses 67880.

DR. THEO G. TRUITT

ELKHART ญญ Dr. Theo G. Truitt, 87, died SUnday, May 25, 2003, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart.

He was born June 13, 1915, to James Edgar and Celia Pearl (Rickenbrode) Truitt in Medora.

He married Velma Smoot Dec. 31, 1975, in Beaver, Okla. She survives.

He had been a resident of Elkhart since 1978.

He was a retired Chiropractor, having started his business in Westville, Okla. He later moved his practice to Guymon, Okla, where he practiced for 20 years.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army as Captain from 1943 to 1946.

He was a member of the Toastmaster's Club in Guymon, and the Lion's Club in Elkhart.

He has served as city councilman, and former mayor, of Elkhart.

His hobbies included flying, riding motorcycles, reading and sailboating.

Other survivors include two sons, Kris Truitt, Cleburne, Texas, and Mark Truitt, Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Suzanne Cole, Alvarado, Texas, and Carol Grider, Guymon; one step-son, Eric Fergurson, Balko, Okla; two step-daughters, Anesia Shores, Goodwell, Okla., and O'Leen Bennett, Carlsbad, N.M.; one sister, Dena Swafford, Augusta; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 10 step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son; one infant daughter; and one sister, Nita Gail Friesem.

Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Elkhart with the Pastor Jim Cunningham presiding.

Memorial are suggested to Elkhart Senior Center in Elkhart in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.

PHYLLIS I. MINTER

WEATHERFORD, Texas ญญ Phyllis Irene (Lehman) Minter, 60, former Liberal resident, died Monday, May 26, 2003, at Harris Methodist Hospital in Azle, Texas.

She was born June 30, 1942, to Fritz F. and Esther G. (Prewett) Lehman in Gray, Okla.

She was a 1960 graduate of Balko High School in Balko, Okla.

She had resided in Liberal for 13 years, where she retired from Southwest Medical Center as a housekeeper and working in dietary services.

She had also lived in Amarillo, Texas and Perryton, Texas.

From Liberal, she moved to Weatherford to be with her son and daughter.

At an early age she joined G.A. Camp and the Bethel Baptist Church in rural Hardesty, Okla.

Her hobbies included ceramics, painting, and playing cards with her friends.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Teter and wife, Mary, Garland, Texas, and Brent Teter, Oklahoma City; one daughter, Jolene Teter, Weatherford; her mother, Liberal; two brothers, Alvin Lehman and wife, Sue, Briscoe, Texas, and Fred Lehman and wife, Paula, Kalamazoo, Mich.; two sisters, Floris Weaver and husband, Larry, and Joyce Hassell, all of Liberal; and two grandchildren, Tiffany and Philip.

She was preceded in death by her father; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Turpin Baptist Church in Turpin, Okla., with the Brother Jimmy Reed presiding.

Burial will follow at Hartville Cemetery in rural Hardesty.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

TINA L. RADER

ULYSSES ญญ Tina Louise Rader, 44, Parker, Colo., and former Ulysses resident, died Saturday, May 23, 2003, in Parker.

She was born May 23, 1959, to Richard Dudley and Beverly Roberts in Gunnison, Colo.

She married John Rader Feb. 15, 1992 in Wichita. He survives.

She was a long-time resident of Ulysses, and moved from Twentynine Palms, Calif., to Parker in March 2002.

She was a homemaker and the manager of a grocery store.

Other survivors include one daughter, Gara Lee and husband, Justin, Elmdale; three sisters, Terri Sweet/Ryles and husband, Bob, Niceville, Fla., Laurie Walta and husband, Danny, Caldwell, and Linda Velasquez and husband, Robert, Ulysses; her parents, Richard and wife, Norma, Ulysses, and Beverly Rein and husband, Dieter, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren, Rhett, Quintin and Colby Lee; and numerous other relatives.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with the Pastor Bill Harrold presiding.

Burial will be at Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. Thursday at Grant County Funeral Home in Ulysses.

Memorials are suggested to the Grandchildren Education Fund in care of Grant County Funeral, 218 S. Main, Ulysses, KS 67880.

CURTIS M. HERRON

MANTER ญญ Curtis Marvin Herron, 49, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at his home in Manter.

He was born Jan. 12, 1954, to Marvin T. and Ilene (Ballinger) Herron.

He married Debra K. Bezona Nov. 9, 1974, in Manter. She survives.

He was a lifetime resident of Morton County, graduating from Elkhart High School in 1972. He was a graduate of Diesel Mechanics at Southwest Kansas Technical School in Liberal.

He was a farmer and rancher.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, raising and training his Belgian Draft horses, and visiting with family.

Other survivors include one son, Chad Herron; two daughters, Jammi Herron and Leslie Herron, Both of Manter; his parents, Manter; three sisters, Barbara Hammond, Goodwell, Okla., Judy O'Bryan, Johnson, and Linda Hammond, Garden City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Johnson with the Rev. Bob Warner presiding.

Burial will follow at Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart.

Memorials are suggested to the Curtis Marvin Herron Memorial Fund in care of Garnand funeral Home, Box 715,

JEFFREY HOWARD MILLS

ROLLA ญญ Jeffrey Howard Mills, age 39, died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.

He was born Nov. 7, 1963, to Morland S. and Connie J. (Slaughter) Mills in Perryton, Texas.

He married Carrie Lynn Easterwood Jan. 28, 1989, in Rolla. She survives.

He spent his early years in Balko, Okla., where he attended and graduated from Balko High School in 1982. He later attended Tabor College in Hillsboro, where he played football. He then attended Panhandle State University in Goodwill, Okla, where he earned bachelor degrees in Agricultural Business and Speech.

After his marriage, he and his wife moved to Texhoma, Okla. for two years. They later moved to Liberal, staying for seven years. He has been a resident of Rolla since 2001. He was employed as a truck driver for Western Marketing Inc. He also worked part-time on his wife's family farm.

His enjoyed spending time with family and playing drums in the Clear Creek Band.

He was a member of the Balko Baptist Church in Balko, Okla. He attended the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Rolla.

Survivors also include his parents; one son, Ross Howard Mills of the home; two daughters, Elizabeth JoLynn Mills and Sadie Helan Mills both of the home; two brothers, Larry Mills of Norton and Tim Mills of Ada, Okla.; and one sister, Vicki Yates of Seminole, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Helan Mills and his maternal grandparents, Howard and Florence Slaughter.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Rolla High School Gymnasium in Rolla with the Minister Dr. Danny Joiner presiding.

Burial will be at Rolla Cemetery in Rolla.

The family requests memorials be made out to the Jeff H. Mills Children's College Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
