FRED WALKEMEYER

HUGOTON ญญ Fred Walkemeyer, 95, died Friday, July 25, 2003 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date by Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton.

ROBERT MARVIN O'DELL

HUGOTON ญญ Robert Marvin O'Dell, 68, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at his home in Hugoton.

He was born June 25, 1935, to Albert Edward and Della May (Persinger) O'Dell in Hugoton.

He married Lillie Charlene Gimlin March 5, 1954, in Hugoton. She survives.

He graduated in 1953 from Hugoton Rural High School. He was employed in the oil field in various positions as truck driver, heavy equipment operator and telecommunicator installer.

He moved from Hugoton in 1957, living in Kimball, Neb., Gillette, Wyo., Ft. Lupton and Plattesville, Colo., returning to Hugoton in 1987. He retired in 1994.

Other survivors include one son, Gentry Shawn O'Dell, Garden City; one daughter, Bobbie Juanene Ellison and husband, Raymond Gerhart, Grapevine, Texas; three brothers, Gordon O'Dell, Garden City; Glenn O'Dell, Garden City and Leon O'Dell, Tucson, Ariz; three grandchildren, Adrian James Salamanca O'Dell, Britany Ane O'Dell and Shannon Michele O'Dell and numerous of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private family memorial service will be at a later date.

Friends may call Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested by the family. Memorials may be mailed in care of Paul's Funeral Home-Box 236 Hugoton, KS 67951.

KIINI DE'AVION HOLMES

Kiini De'Avion Holmes died at birth on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at Southwest Medical Center.

She is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Felicia M. Shelton Holmes; one brother, Kenneth Jr.; one sister, Kendra Holmes; grandparents, Lucille Holmes and Joseph and Dorothy Vaughan all of Liberal and one great-grandmother, Nell Jefferson, Kossie, Texas.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Liberal Cemetery.

Miller Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

PATSY C. JACOBS

Patsy C. Jacobs, 62, died Thursday July 24, 2003, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart.

She was born Oct. 22, 1940, to Liston and Harriet (Nirk) Bridwell in West Plain, Mo.

She was an Elkhart resident since 1998. She attended schools in Garden City and Bigbow. Patsy was a former resident of Archer City, Texas Frederick, Okla. and Ulysses.

Her hobbies included crocheting, listening to music and fishing and camping.

Survivors include one son, Charles Randy Holbert, Probo, Utah; two dauhgters, Debra Thomas, Tucson, Ariz. and Rhonda Mathena, Rolla; two brothers, Carl Bridwell, Flagstaff, Ariz. and Gary Bridwell, Independence; six sisters, Emily Walsh, Elkhart; Joan Hinkle, Ulysses; Darlene Blake, Great Bend; Dorothy Anderson, Ulysses; Kathy Pierce, Elkhart and Sherry Harris, Elizabeth, Tenn; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bob Bridwell.

Funeral services will be at 10 :30 a.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Elkhart with the Pastor John Morden, presiding.

Burial will be at Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.

Memorials are suggested to the Patsy Jacobs Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. Saturday.

BERTHA MATILDA BEATY

Bertha Matilda Beaty, 97, died Sunday, July 20, 2003 at the Beaver County Nursing Home in Beaver, Okla.

She was born on April 20, 1906, to John and Mary Busenlehner in Mullins Prairie, Texas.

She married Edwin L. Beaty on June 4, 1927, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

He preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Catholic Church and was faithful in attendance.

Survivors include three daugters, Mary Brown, Turpin, Okla.; Deloris Beaty, Pampa, Texas and Virginia Beaty, Billings, Okla.; one daughter-in-law, Evelyn Beaty, Liberal; four grandchildren, Rodney and Darlyn Beaty, Liberal; Connie and Tom Burtsfield, Danville, Ind.; Rick and Bonnie Brown, Turpin, Okla. and Jim Brown, Turpin, Okla.

Graveside services was Tuesday, July 22 at Floris Cemetery with the Rev. Dave Parker of Church of God in Liberal and the Rev. Izquierdo of Methodist Church in Turpin presiding.

Memorials are suggested to Beaver County Nursing Home or Turpin Senior Citizens Center.

IDA ALVINA SCHREMSER

WICHITA ญญ Ida Schremser, 89, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Via Christi Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

She was born July 8, 1914 to George and Rosa Shook Pister in Kief, N.D.

She married Phillip Schremser on Oct. 24, 1943 in McClusky, N.D.

He preceded her in death in 1966.

Survivors include one son, Willard and wife, Kay, Pinehurst, Idaho; three daughters, Shirley Beeghly and husband Lawrence, Manhattan, Mont.; Linda Hogie and husband, Gordon, Adams, Okla. and Dorothy Ramirez, Montezuma; one brother, Frank Pister, Harvey, N.D. ; three sisters, Lidia Ness, Sacramento, Calif., Faith Hegney, Kief, N.D. and Ella Hegney, Ruso, N.D.; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Otto, Ted and George Pister and one sister, Annie Erman.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Community Hall in Montezuma with Quincy Smith presiding.

Memorial graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the Kief Cemetery, Kief, N.D.

Memorials are suggested by the family to the Ida A. Schremeser Memorial Fund to be designated at a later date in care of Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 786, Cimmarron, KS 67835.

MELVIN H. STROTHMAN

ELKHART ญญ Melvin H. Strothman, 65, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.

He was born May 27, 1938, to Irwin and Frances (Schneider) Strothman in Hutchinson.

He was raised in Straton, Colo. and graduated from high school in 1958. He was a former resident of Gerard and Four Corners, Okla. He was an Elkhart resident since 1963. He worked as city manager for the city of Elkhart for over 30 years.

He was a former member of Auxilary Policeman in Elkhart. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Elkhart.

His enjoyed collecting guns and drinking coffee while visiting with friends.

Survivors include three daughters, Joan Humpries, Leveland, Texas, Pat Ferguson and Andrea "Andy" Robertson, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Dale Strothman, Straton, Colo.; one sister, Mary Whisennand, Elkhart; six grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Elkhart with the Father Francis Khoi Nguyen presiding.

Burial will be at Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, Okla.

Memorials are suggested to Whistle Stop Park in Elkhart in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.

FRED WALKEMEYER

HUGOTON -- Fred Walkemeyer, 95, died Friday, July 25, 2003 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.

He was born Feb 12, 1908, to Henry and Josephine (Toole) Walkemeyer in Stevens County.

He married Frances Cox Feb. 7, 1931, in Hugoton. She preceded him in death.

He married Geraldine Custer Dec. 30, 1995, in Hugoton. She survives.

He was a farmer and rancher.

He was a member of Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton and Gideon's International. He was a former Stevens County Commissioner, Sunflower Electric Board member, Pioneer Electric Cooperative Board member, and he was awarded the Leadership Circle of the Presidents Council by Friends University and Barclay College.

Other survivors include one son, Roy Walkemeyer and wife, Leta, Hugoton; two daughters, Mae Kellum and husband, David, Burundi, Africa, and Mary Lou Figgins and husband, Robert L., Manter; one daughter-in-law, Mardelle Snook and husband, Royce, Terrebonne, Ore.; one sister Daisey David, Hugoton; ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Larry Dale Walkemeyer and Gene Walkemeyer; one half-brother, Frank Bauer; and one half-sister Olie Walkemeyer.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton with the Rev. Eric Mason presiding.

Burial will be at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home or from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton.

Memorials are suggested to the Bethel Friends church or to Gideon's International in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 423 S. Main, Hugoton, KS 67951.

DARRYL L. JOHNSON

PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Darryl L. Johnson, 38, died Tuesday July 22, 2003, at his home in Pine Bluff, Ark.

He was born June 1, 1965 to Iciephene Wilburn and Ivory Johnson.

He married Cynthia Scarver. She survives.

He graduated from Liberal High School and later attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and Monticello and SEARK in Pine Bluff, majoring in Pre-Law. He was employed by the Allied-Tube Co. in Pine Bluff.

He was a member of the Pleasant View Ministries in Pine Bluff.

Other survivors include two step-sons, Joshua Leonard, Pine Bluff and Raymond Berry Jr., Dumas, Ark.; two step-daughters, Yolanda Russell and Latoya Berry, both of Dumas; one foster daughter, Adrianna "Nuk-Nuk", Pine Bluff; one brother, Dexter Johnson, Pine Bluff; three sisters, Damara "Sharee" Johnson Roberts, Pine Bluff, Dione Johnson Poole and Matease Johnson, both of Dumas; three grandchildren and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dumas Community Center in Dumas, Ark. with the Suffragan Bishop Alfonso Madden presiding.

Burial will be at Curtis Hall Cemetery in Pickens, Ark. by Mc Kinzie Funeral Home of Dewitt, Ark.
