HAZEL IRENE (LUM) MCCUTCHEN

Hazel Irene (Lum) McCutchen, 80, died Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at Liberal Good Samaritan Center in Liberal.

She was born Nov. 16, 1922, to Ernie and Anna (Floto) Lum in Ft. Morgan, Colo.

She married Marl Wendell McCutchen March 7, 1947, in Denver, Colo.

She was a graduate of Ft. Morgan High School.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Women of the Moose and First Presbyterian Church in Farmington, N.M. She also was a Past Guardian of the International Order of Job's Daughters.

Her hobbies included embroidery work.

Survivors include one son, Gary Calvin McCutchen and his wife, Judy, Farmington, N.M.; three daughters, Sandra Mae Ann Eglinton, Mesa, Ariz., Tammy Lynn Abott and husband, Travis, Liberal, and Teri Lea Hankins, Moulton, Ala.; one brother, Harry Lum, Gering, Neb.; three sisters, Edna Wilkins and husband, Gail, Gering, Neb., Irma Wilson, Yakima, Wash., and Esther Jones, Ft. Morgan, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ft. Morgan Memory Garden Cemetery in Ft. Morgan, Colo.

Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 West Second Street Liberal, KS 67901.

ALBERT NIGHTENGALE

INGALLS -- Albert Nightengale, 88, died Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at Bethel Home Inc. in Montezuma.

He was born May 10, 1915, to Abraham and Elizabeth (Wedel) Nightengale in Durham.

He married Bernice Jantz November 3, 1946, in Hesston.

He was a farmer. He was a member of the Salem Mennonite Church in Copeland.

Other survivors include three sons; John D. Nightengale and wife, Lenetta, El Mirage, Ariz. Donald Nightengale, West Palm Beach, Fla. and Vern Nightengale and Teresa, Ingalls; one daughter, Elizabeth Koehn and husband Charles, Bradley Ark.; three brothers, Emil Nightengale, Montezuma, John Nightengale, Montezuma, Ervin Nightengale, Scott City; one sister, Leona Spence, Glenn, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the Salem Mennonite Church in Copeland with the ministers Sam Unruh Jr. and Steve Unruh presiding along with Charles Nightengale.

Burial will be at Salem Mennonite Cemetery in Copeland.

Friends may call from until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday.

Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home Inc. or Donor's Choice in care of Montezuma funeral Home, P.O. Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.

SUSAN PROCHAZKA

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Susan Prochazka, 85, died Wednesday, October 8, 2003, at Pikes Peak hospice in Colorado Springs, Colo.

She was born July 15, 1918 in St. Joseph, Mo. to Thomas and Florence (Keefe) Furlong.

She married Dr. Otto Prochazka December 31, 1940. He died December 31, 1988.

She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Wichita State University in Wichita.

She was a long time resident of Liberal. She moved to Colorado Springs, Colo. in 1995.

She was a registered nurse.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and St Anthony's Alter Society in Liberal.

She was the former president of the Dodge City Diocesan Catholic Women. She was a member of PEO in Liberal.

Survivors include three sons; Ronald Prochazka, Topeka, Phillip Prochazka, Wichita, Thomas Prochazka, Moose Pass, Alaska; three daughters, Carole Rachesky, Glenwood Springs, Colo., Anne Dennis, Colorado Springs, Colo., Zuki Prochazka, Denver ,Colo.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m., Friday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal with the Father Patrick A. Keyes presiding.

Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may visit the Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday.

Memorials are suggested to Pikes Peak Hospice in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 West 2nd, Liberal, Kansas 67901.

ZOA (MCREYNOLDS) HEDLUND

Zoa (McReynolds) Hedlund, 78, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at her home in Montezuma.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Montezuma funeral home in Montezuma.

GA VAN DO

Ga Van Do, 67, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born Dec. 31, 1935, in Saigon, Vietnam.

He was a resident of Liberal for the past 11 years.

Survivors include his wife Mai Tran, three sons; Chau Minh Tran, Due Minh Tran, Tung Minh Do; three daughters , Le Quyen Thi Tran, Thu Ha Thi Tran and My Phoung Thi Tran; and son-in-law, Tan Nguyen.

Funeral services were today.

ZOA MCREYNOLDS HEDLUND

MONTEZUMA -- Zoa McReynolds Hedlund, 78, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 23, 1924, to Ellis and Zoa (Parks) McReynolds in Rock River, Wyo.

She married Harold Albert Hedlund Oct. 7, 1945, in Montezuma. He died Nov. 17, 2002.

She was a longtime Montezuma resident and was involved in the Montezuma State Bank for over 50 years where she was on the board of directors. She played the piano for church, weddings, funerals and school activities.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, U.M.W. and the American Legion Auxiliary, all of Montezuma.

Her hobbies included being with her family.

Survivors include four sons, Christopher Kent Hedlund and wife, Kayella, Kingman, Kyle Parks Hedlund and wife, Jan, Gilbert, Ariz., Ty Harold Hedlund and wife, Marsha, Montezuma, and Derk Lester Hedlund and wife, Nola, Montezuma; one niece, Gayle Fry and husband, Andee, Montezuma; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Clifton McReynolds; one great-granddaughter, Zoie Beth Gates and a daughter-in-law, Janie Hedlund.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday at United Methodist Church in Montezuma with the Reverend Gene Eshleman presiding.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church in Montezuma or donor's choice in care of Montezuma Funeral Home, Box 421 Montezuma, KS 67867.

WILLIAM R. "DICK" TAYLOR

William R. "Dick" Taylor, 82, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born May 29, 1921, to Fred and Minnie Ryurls Taylor in Lockerby, Utah.

He married Mardell White April 29, 1949, in Clayton, N.M. She survives.

He attended Lockerby High School and joined the United States Army in 1942. He served in the 1264th Engineering Combat Battalion in Frankfurt, Germany. He was honorably discharged in May 1946. He came to Liberal in 1947 and was a self-employed carpenter in construction, he retired in 1995.

He was a member of the Central Christian Church where he served as a deacon, a member of the Humane Society and was a 4-H leader for many years and an active member of the American Quaterhorse Association in Amarillo, Texas.

Other survivors include, one son, Jerry Taylor and wife, Debra, Wichita; one daughter, Carla Wilson and husband, Bennie, Liberal, grandchildren, Jamie, Zachary and Joel Taylor, Wichita; James Wilson, Colby; Natalie Wilson, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Lindsay Garrett and husband, Grady, Colby; Elyse Pond, Liberal; great-grandchildren, Kambri, Kensey and William Kelby Garrett, Colby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and five sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Central Christian Church with the Reverends Spence Powers, David Woods, Dick Wilson and Jerry Taylor presiding.

Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery with military honors by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the Central Christian Church.

Memorials are suggested to the Central Christian Church in care of Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

JOHN E. MCCLAREN

John E. McClaren, 76, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at his home in Liberal.

He was born Jan. 3, 1927, to John E. and Ruth P. Martin McClaren in Dallas, Texas.

He married Gwen Joyce Huff June 29, 1963. She died May 2, 1998.

He came to Liberal in 1987 and was a driller in the oilfield for several years.

Survivors include one son, Michael McClaren, Claremore, Okla.; one step-son, Rick Piercy, Liberal, four grandchildren and one great-grandson; two step-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Assembly of God Church with the Reverend Martin presiding.

Friends may call from 6:30 until 8 p.m. today at Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

YASINIA MARIE BACA

Yasinia Marie Baca, 18-months, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

She is survived by her parents; Crystal Baca and Jorge Disos, one sister, Alexiess Lucero; grandparents, Jeannie and Gustavo Medina, Liberal.

Mass of the Angels will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Father Patrick Keyes presiding.

Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery.

Miller Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
