BARBARA GENE OLSEN
Barbara Gene Olsen, 47, died Nov. 21, 2003, at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City.
She was born May 10, 1956, to Jack and Eve Toner Hackett in Rock Springs, Wyo.
She attended schools in Lander, Wyo. and was a graduate of Lander Valley High School in 1975. She had been a resident of Liberal for the past seven years and former longtime resident of Rock Springs, Wyo. Her hobbies included crafts, golfing, watching Court TV, playing solitaire, working on the computer and shopping at Wal-Mart.
Survivors include four sons, Tracy Olsen, Rock Springs, Wyo., Chris R. Macy, Grand Junction, Colo., Danny Macy and Troy Macy, both of Rock Springs, Wyo.; one duaghter, Mandi Milhon and husband, Cecil, Liberal; her her parents; Eve and Ed Sturn, Lander, Wyo.; one brother, Kelly Williams, Rock Springs, Wyo.; two sisters, Shawna West and Jackie Campbell, both of Rock Springs, Wyo.; her companion, Chris Macy, Liberal; her father and mother-in-law, Bob and Joyce Macy, Rock Springs, Wyo.; mother-in-law, Ruby Macy, Rock Springs, Wyo.; six grandchildren Tashawna Bolen, Bailey Milhon, Gaige Olsen, TinaLynn Macy, Danny James Macy and Brianna Macy; one aunt and uncle, Jan and Jerry Torres, Rock Springs, Wyo.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; first husband, Tracy Olsen, one sister, Tammy and two aunts, Cheryl Marsden and Jane Jensen, and one uncle, Teddy Toner.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Nov. 25 at the Vase Funeral Home Chapel in Rock Springs, Wyo. with the Reverend Daniel Gilbert presiding.
Burial was at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
FRANCIS E. "BUCK" POOLE
KISMET -- Francis E. "Buck" Poole, 74, died Sunday Nov. 30, 2003 at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born April 13, 1929 to Dale and Edna Henrichson Poole in Cedar Bluff, Neb.
He married Roberta M. Phillips April 13, 1952, at South Bend, Ind. She died April 9, 1988.
He is survived by two daughters, Debra Pearson and husband, Lynn, Hobbs, N.M.; Gail Shrum, Tyrone, Okla; one sister, Marcie Kaniewshi, Dowagiac, Mich.; five grandchildren, Wally Pearson, Case Pearson, Eric Shrum, Donocan Shrum and Shrisa Pearson.
There are no funeral services planned. Miller Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
VERNON LAMONT "MONTY" BROWN
SATANTA -- Vernon LaMont "Monty" Brown, 54, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at Satanta District Hopital in Satanta.
He was born May 26, 1949, to Dayton "Teak" LaMont and Charlotte L. (New) Brown in Mound City.
He married Mary L. Goltra Sept. 20, 1968, in Mound City. She survives.
He was a teacher in the Fort Scott school system for 12 years then moved to Smith Center where he was a Junior High Principle and Athletic Director for 15 years. In July of 1999 he moved to Satanta where he was superintendent of schools for three years before retiring. He was currently serving as interim superintendent of schools in the Lyndon district.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lebanon, United Schools Administrator Assistant and the Lions Club.
He is also survived by two sons, Robert L. Brown and wife, Julia, Southhaven, Miss., and Jared L. Brown and wife, Samantha, Wellington; one daughter, Kari L. Brown, Satanta; his mother, Mound City; two brothers, Rod Brown and wife, Margie, Fulton, and Danny Brown and wife, Carol, Ft. Scott; one sister, LeaAnn Davenport, Pleasanton; five grandchildren, Patrick Brown, Austin Brown, Peyton Brown, Andrew Heimerich and Tyler Brown and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and sister.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel in Fort Scott.
Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery
in Fort Scott.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel in Fort Scott.

MERLE E. DIMMITT
SUBLETTE -- Merle E Dimmitt, 86, died Dec. 1, 2003, at Satanta District Hospital in Satanta.
She was born July 18, 1917, to Everett Ray and Ina Lucretia (Davis) Foster in Great Bend.
She married Loren Lee Dimmitt Oct. 26, 1946, in Garden City. He preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Christian Church in Sublette.
Survivors include four sons, Carl Dimmitt, Guymon, Okla., Loren Everett Dimmitt, Sublette, Leopold Dimmitt, Sublette, Jerome Dimmitt, Woodward, Okla.; four daughters, Kathy Seymour and husband, Richard, Sublette, Sandra Campbell and husband, James, Hugoton, Linda Sullivan and husband, Richard Dean, Hugoton, and Barbara Disheau, Lancaster, Calif.; one brother, Donald Foster and wife, Kathleen, Dodge City; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Walker; her parents; one sister, Mildred Miller; and one granddaughter, Jana Eves.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Christian Church in Sublette with the Minister David Erwin presiding.
Burial will be at Copeland Cemetery
in Copeland.
Friends may call from until 8 p.m. today and Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.Thursday at the funeral home.

RONALD C. LEWIS
Ronald C. Lewis, 73, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Lone Tree Compassionate Care Center in Meade.
He was born July 14, 1930, to Floyd and Clara (Notestine) Lewis.
He attended school in Liberal.
He lived in Lawrence for 18 years, where he worked at the Kansas University Cafeteria.
He moved back to Liberal in 1982 until he entered Lone Tree Compassionate Care Center in Meade.
He was a former member of the First Assembly of God Church and a current member of Faith Tabernacle both of Liberal.
He is survived by his sister Helen Berry.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Eldon Lewis and a brother-in-law, Bedford Berry Jr.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home with the Reverend Rex Petty presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery
in Liberal.
Friends may visit the Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home until 9 p.m. today.

PHYLLIS N. MANGELS
Phyllis N. Mangels, 69, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at Via Christi St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
She was born Feb. 11, 1934, to Howard Leo and Leone Margaret (Ipson) Clinesmith in Elkhart.
She married Alton R. Jones May 17, 1951. He died May 17, 1991. She then married Lloyd Crawford Feb. 1, 1995. He died Aug. 2000. She then married Van F. Mangels March 1, 2003 at Rolla. He survives.
She was a homemaker. She worked as a waitress, secretary for T.A. Dudley Agency and Farm Bureau in Hugoton.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rolla.
She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She was a den mother. She was active in the Parents Teachers Association.
Other survivors include two sons, Kenneth R. Jones and wife, Betty, Enid, Okla., Dennis C. Jones, Lakin; four brothers, Weldon R. Clinesmith and wife, Betty, Rolla, Ramon H. Clinesmith and wife, Jill Ulysses; two sisters, Esther Smith, Canon City, Colo., Norma Keener, Hulbert, Okla.; four grandchildren, Rolley, Casey, Chris, and Spence Jones and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harold Clinesmith and Jimmy Clinesmith, one sister, Margaret Clinesmith.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday at the United Methodist Church in Rolla with the Reverend John Jordan presiding.
Burial will be at the Rolla Cemetery
in Rolla.

KATHLEEN "DIXIE" ELFFNER
MEADE -- Kathleen "Dixie" Elffner, 80, died Dec. 2, 2003, at Via Christi Saint Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born Feb. 3, 1923, to Charlie and Estelle (Cooper) Dixon in Daleville, Ala.
She married Thomas H. Elffner July 3, 1944, in Tallahassee, Fla. He died Aug. 18, 2000.
She grew up and attended school in Lakeland, Fla. Following high school, she moved to Bartow, Fla. to work as a waitress. She moved to the family farm in Meade County in the summer of 1945. Her family moved from the farm to the city of Meade in 1957. She was a homemaker and operated her own upholstery business until her death.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas H. "Butch" Elffner, Great Bend and Robert C. "Topper" Elffner and wife, Jan, Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Flossie "Jo" Young, Lakeland, Fla. and Betty Davis, Lakeland, Fla.; one grandson, Charlie Elffner, Omaha, Neb.; and several nephews, nieces and friends.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Charles G. "Chuck" ; her parents; one brother, Bud Dixon; and a sister, Murl Britt.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meade with the Father Francis Stuart presiding.
Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery
in Meade.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Fidler-Orme Mortuary in Meade.
