JOHNNY MARTIN

Johnny Martin, 43, died Monday, February 9, 2004, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

He was born August 18, 1960, at Talladega, Ala. to Robert and Ruby (Triplet) Martin.

He married Cynthia Jo Wilson June 25, 1988, in Garden City. She survives.

He was a 1980 graduate of Boise City High School in Boise City, Okla.

He worked at National Beef as a loader for 16 years.

He was a member of First Assembly God Church in Liberal.

He enjoyed NFL football especially the Kansas City Chiefs and also professional wrestling.

Other survivors include two sons, Timothy and Chance Martin, Liberal; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Verne L. and Regina Wilson, Garden City; one grandmother, Josephine Triplet, Eufala, Okla.; one brother, David Martin Talladega, Ala.; and one step-brother, James Seay, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, LaVern Seay.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Assembly Church of God Church with Pastor Richard Martin presiding.

Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House in Wichita in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd, Liberal, KS 67901.

NOAH DALE AKERS

Noah Dale Akers, 17, died Saturday February 7, 2004, as a result of a one vehicle accident near Rolla.

He was born, April 13, 1986, in Topeka to Lawrence Dale Akers and Dixie Lee Payne .

He moved to Elkhart in Oct., 1998 from Topeka.

He attended school at Rolla. He was a member of the class of 2004. He was an active member of the Rolla basketball, football and track teams and a leader of the FCA. He was a member of the National Honor Society and served as president of the Rolla Student Council.

He attended the James Church of God and was also active in the Guymon Church of the Nazarene Youth Group.

Survivors include his parents; his step-father, Tom Stockman, Topeka; maternal grandparents, Bernadean and Bob Cotter, Liberal; great-grandfather, Louis Alexander, Topeka; uncles and aunts, Jay Payne, Elkhart, Charla and Jerry Webb, Goodwell, Okla., Jeff Akers, Topeka, and Martha Hamlin, Topeka; one cousin Jace Webb, Goodwell, Okla.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Rolla High School Gymnasium with the Reverend Donnie Callaway, and the Pastor John Prichard presiding.

Burial will be at the Rolla Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Guymon Church of the Nazarene Youth Group or a charity of choice in care of Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 112, Guymon, Okla. 73942.

BOBBY RAY HELM

PAMPA, Texas -- Bobby Ray Helm, 70, died Sunday, February 8, 2004, in Pampa, Texas.

He was born May 13, 1933, in Childress County, Texas.

He married Betty Sue Spencer August, 27 1955, in Memphis, Texas. She survives.

He worked for the Pampa News as a printer from December 1956 until 1971. He also worked for IRI as a printer from 1971 until his retirement in 1994.

He was a Baptist.

Other survivors include, one son, Terry Allen Helm, Pampa, Texas; two daughters, Melinda Sue Scott and husband, Marty, Melissa Rae Garner and husband Terry, Pampa, Texas; seven grandchildren, Bobby Helm, Brandon Scott and wife, Marie, Cassi Shephard and husband, Jon, Shalyn Garner, Teryn Garner, Ashley Helm; four great-grandchildren, Bailie Scott, Emily Scott, Abligail Scott, Jaryn Shephard, Pampa, Texas; three brothers, Aubrey Helm, Liberal, Leon Helm, Memphis, Texas, and Jack Helm, Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Ruby Louise Smallwood, Liberal; two brothers-in-law, and several sisters -in-laws.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Helm, George Helm and John Helm; one sister, Betty Joe Helm, and one granddaughter, Kristen Sue Garner.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, at Whatley Colonial Chapel at the Fellowship Baptist Church with the Reverend Charles Lowry.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association in Care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, Kansas 67901.

MILDRED MARTENS

TURPIN, Okla. -- Mildred Martens, 86, died Monday, February 9, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Turpin Baptist Church in Turpin with the Reverend Jimmy Reed and the Reverend James Colwell presiding.

Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Liberal with Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. in Hooker, Okla. in charge of arrangements.

RUTH KILLINGSWORTH

Ruth Killingsworth, 89, died Monday, February 9, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

She was born Oct. 10, 1914, to Fred B. and Mabel Ferguson Allen in Gravette, Ark.

She married Dale S. Killingsworth Jan. 1, 1934, in Liberal. He died Sept. 2, 1999.

She is survived by two sons, Jack Killingsworth and wife, Ann, Bartlesville, Okla.; Bob Killingsworth and wife Leona, Liberal; seven grandchildren, Scott Killingsworth and wife, Kendra, Dale Killingsworth, Russell Killingsworth and wife, Gretchen, Mark Killingsworth and wife, Tammy, Karla Bradley and husband, Todd, Jeremy Roper and wife Jayme, Wesly Roper and wife, Kristy; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cecil Allen and wife, Ann, Overland Park, Bill Allen, Denver, Colo.; one sister, Ruby Dennis and husband, Basil, Grove, Okla.; one brother-in-law, Clarence Killingsworth, Hutchinson; and two sisters-in-law, Bessie Keen and Mearl Killingsworth, Liberal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Larry McCall and Judy Barnes presiding.

Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call the Miller Mortuary until 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until service time.

Memorials are suggested to the Liberal Good Samaritan Center in care of Miller Mortuary.

NEAL E. "SCORCHY" MCCULLEY

Neal E. "Scorchy" McCulley, 81, Turpin, Okla. died Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

He was born May 6, 1922, in Liberal to Lee and Stella Edwards McCulley.

He married Florence D. Gillespie April 30, 1948, in Olathe. She died April 1, 2003.

He attended school in Liberal. He entered the U.S. Navy, where he served in World War II. He attended the Kansas City School of Watch Making for four years.

He was a master watch maker, jeweler and etcher, working for several jewelry stores in Liberal, Briers, Pattersons and Fast Jewelry Stores.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Life Member of the VFW Lane Day Post No. 3166, Life Member of the American Motorcycle Association, Beech Retiree's Club, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union and was an avid rodeo fan.

He is survived by four sons, Ora McCulley and wife, Peggy, Liberal, Clair McCulley and wife, Verna, Turpin, Okla., Glenn McCulley and wife, Rosalind, Weatherford, Okla., Gary McCulley, California, Mo.; two daughters, Lora Adams and husband , Robert, Hoisington; Alice Frederick and husband, David, Fort Worth, Texas; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jim McCulley, Alton, Mo. Larry McCulley, Laverne, Okla., Robert McCulley, Woodward, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

There will be private family services at the Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Miller Mortuary from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday.

OLETA I. MITCHELL

Oleta I. Mitchell, 91, died Friday, February 13, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

Funeral services will be announced by Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home in Liberal.

ALBERT JAY "GUS" RUNDELL

ULYSSES -- Albert Jay "Gus" Rundell, 53, died Wednesday, February 11, 2004, in Stanton County.

He was born April 13, 1950, to Jay Wayne and Naoma (Hayden) Rundell in Stafford.

He married Tamara Alexander Aug. 10, 1990, in Ulysses. She survives.

He graduated from Ulysses High School in 1968. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. In 1998, he became a master electrician, worked in the oil fields and was presently working in agriculture.

His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

Other survivors include one son, Daniel; seven daughters, Amanda, Lacy, Katie, Heather, Rachel, Sarah, and Cindy all of the home; his mother, Ulysses; two brothers, Lyle Rundell and wife, Debbie, Ulysses, and Hugh Rundell and wife, Lisa, Lawrence; four sisters, Carolyn Dunn and husband, Don, Robin Collum and husband, Jess, and Tamra Rundell, all of Ulysses, and Bobbie Bynum and husband, C.W., Eufaula, Ala. and numerous nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jay Rundell.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with the Reverend Sam Bynum presiding.

Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses with military graveside rites by Charles B. Hart Post No. 79.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

Memorials are suggested to the Albert Jay "Gus" Rundell memorial fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.

BILLY J. CHALOUPEK

MONROEVILLE -- Billy J. Chaloupek, 49, died Saturday, February 14, 2004, at his home in Monroeville.

He was born April 5, 1954, to Bert Chaloupek and Dorothy Gullem in Sublette.

He married Mary Sanders March 31, 1997, in Ft. Wayne, Ind. She survives.

He was a former employee of Mobile Tool International in Ft. Wayne, Ind. and a former bull rider.

Other survivors include two daughters, Susan White and Christine White, both of Monroeville; two brothers, Steve Chaloupek, Liberal and Gene Chaloupek, Great Bend; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Ind.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Zwick and Jahn Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
