MARGARETTE GOOS

Margarette Goos, 83, died Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

She was born July 20, 1920, to Birt M. and Effie L. A. Nelson Tucker.

She married Warren Goos June 1, 1940, in Liberal. He died June 4, 2000.

She graduated from Liberal High School in 1937, and attended nurses school in Denver, Colo. She was a LPN at Epworth for 10 years and Southwest Medical Center retiring 1979.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Liberal Nurses Association.

Survivors include one son, David Goos and wife, Charolet, San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, Dalanna Carter and husband, Brad, Timothy Goos; one great-granddaughter, Jennifer Carter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and four sisters.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Miller Chapel with the Reverend David Bagwell presiding.

Her body was donated to the University of Kansas Medical School for research, burial will be at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the donor's choice in care of the mortuary.

EUNICE MAE "SPOON" WHITE

COVINA, Calif. -- Eunice Mae "Spoon" White, 83, died Monday, February 23, 2004, in Covina.

She was born May 19, 1921, to Thomas E. and Myrtle M. Prough White in Beaver County, Okla.

She was a longtime resident of Liberal and was employed at Beech Aricraft. She retired in 1984. She moved to Covina in 2001, to live with her nephew.

She was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 1947 in Liberal.

Survivors include one nephew, Wilmont L. Gentzler and wife, Shirley, Covina, Calif.; one niece, Clorinda M. Quick, Mesa, Ariz. and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Cleo Hunt and Mabel Hilderbrendt.

Burial will be at a later date in Pueblo, Colo.

ANASTASIA JO "ANN" BECHER

Anastasia Jo "Ann" Becher, 64, died Wednesday, February 25, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

She was born Dec. 15, 1939, to Joe and Eva Pavlovsky in Wichita.

She married Dwight Becher December 1996 in Liberal. He survives.

She has been known by many as the "Tupperware Lady."

She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Liberal.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God in Liberal with the Pastor Richard Martin presiding.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorials are suggested to the Frontier Development Center in Norton in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.

EVELYN ARLENE POWELL

Evelyn Arlene Powell, 74, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.

She was born Jan. 3, 1930, to Jacob and Elizabeth Schwartz Heronemus in Ness City.

She married George Issac Powell April 29, 1954 in Ness City. He survives.

She was a former Lane County resident and Dighton resident.

She moved to Scott City in 1972 and then to Garden City in 1974.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Garden City.

Other survivors include one son, Ralph Powell, Garden City; one daughter, Faylene Leal, Garden City; two brothers, Harold Heronemus, Leoti, Clarence Heronemus, Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Anna Means, Liberal and Estelene Hoddy, Liberal; eight grandchildren, Christopher Perez, Topeka, Nickalaus Perez, Topeka, Ricardo Leal, Garden City, Samuel Leal, Garden City, Robert Leal, Garden City, Jake Leal, Garden City, Michael Leal, Garden City, and Amber Powell; one great-grandchild, Ma-Alicia Perez, Topeka.

She was preceded in death by one son, Arlin Powell, her parents and two brothers, Alvin and Leland Heronemus.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Garden City with the Pastor Lyle Stuehrenberg.

Burial will take place at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Evelyn A. Powell Memorial Fund in care of Price and Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.

ERMA M. WALLACE

DENVER, Colo. -- Erma M. Wallace, 91, died Monday February 16, 2004, at Porter Hospital.

She married Charles A. Wallace Jan. 29, 1938, in Beaver County, Okla. He preceded her in death.

She attended colleger at Goodwell in Stillwater. She was a teacher of grades 4-6 at Greenough Grade School. She lived in Liberal until 1950 until moving to Denver, Colo. She worked at Lerner's for 10 years and then retired.

Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Chalotte Murphy and husband, Ralph, and Mary Lou Haag and husband, George; four grandchildren, Mark Murphy, Scott Murphy, Bret Haag, and Bevin Haag; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Murphy, Brandon Haag and Ashley Haag; one brother, Donald Heitschmidt, Forgan, Okla. and two sisters, Joyce Harper, Liberal and Normagene King, Pocatello, Idaho.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Alfred.

Private family services were at Chapel Hills Memorial Garden followed by burial.

Public memorial services were Feb. 24 at Porter Place Chapel 1001 E. Yale Ave., Denver, CO 80210.

MARY CLYDENA ALLEN

Mary Clydena Allen, 85, died Friday, February 27, 2004, in Hugoton.

She was born to Orville Nye and Bessie Olive (Lynch) Thurstin. SHe was born Feb. 4, 1919, in Rural Stevens County in Kansas.

She married George O. Allen Dec. 17, 1938, in Cedaredge, Colo. He survives.

She graduated from Hugoton High School. She moved to Paonia, Colo. after graduating from high school and lived there until 1937 to 1951. She moved back to Hugoton in 1951.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Hugoton and the Rebekah Lodge, Hugoton.

Other survivors include two sons, Donald Allen and wife, Vicky, Emporia, Larry Allen and wife, Karen, Hugoton; four grandchildren, Reagan Kamran and husband, Olathe, Morgan Allen, Emporia, Ty Allen, Dodge City, Trey Allen and wife, Shawna, Manhattan, and one great-grandson, Braxton Allen.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Robert, Thurstin.

Memorial has been established for the First Christian Church Hearing Impaired System in care of Paul's Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church in Hugoton with the Minister Jeff Aenk presiding.

Burial will be at Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Paul's Funeral Home.

HAROLD F. MAINS

Harold F. Mains, 59, died February 26, 2004.

He was born to Ralph and Thelma (Sanders) Mains July 9, 1944, in Garnett.

He worked for National Beef for 22 years.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; two daughters, Stacy Shafer, Liberal, Michelle Mains, Mesa, Ariz; two brothers, Floyd Mains, Greeley, Colo.; Larry Mains; two sisters, Lorine Turner, Princeton, Florine Morgan, Ottawa; three grandchildren, Dalton Mains, Angel Shafer, Ashley Shafer.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Wichita.

Resthaven Gardens in Wichita is in charge of the arrangments.

TONYA ELAINE WRIGHT

Tonya Elaine Wright, 45, died Tuesday March 2, 2004, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

She was born Sept. 18, 1958, to Eugene and Ruth (Stanfield) Wright in Protection.

She attended Mid American Nazarene College in Olathe. She attended Bauder School of Fashion Designs in Arlington. She graduated from the University of Texas in Arlington, Texas.

She lived in Arlington, Texas for 10 years. She move back to Sublette and had the Wrightley Made Catering Service. She started teaching in the Satanta Schools in 1992-1993 term. She had started her eleventh year teaching art.

She was a member of the Church Of the Nazarene in Sublette. She attended Southern Baptist Church in Liberal. She was a a member of the KNEA, NEA, and SW Kansas Scholastic Arts Association.

She loved to cook and enjoyed people. She was an avid reader.

She is survived by her parents, Eugene and Ruth Wright, Sublette; one sister, Jan Evans and husband, Jerry, Amarillo, Texas; one grandfather, Oliver Wright, Sublette; three nieces, Whitney, Chloe and Regan Evans; her fiance, Kirk Anderson, Cimarron and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Eugene Wright, Sept. 13, 1986.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Satanta High School Auditorium in Satanta with the Ministers William Thomas, Ron Allen, Garry Wright, Christopher Stanfield and Jerry Smith presiding.

Burial will be at the Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette.

Friends may call today and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday and from 10 a.m until 8 p.m. Monday at the Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.
