RUBY SEABOLT

MOSCOW ­ Ruby Seabolt, 91, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Pioneer Manor in Hugoton.

She was born Dec. 27, 1912, to Allen and Rena (Ewing) Bolden in Sequoyah County, Okla.

She married W.L. "Bill" Seabolt, Jan. 4, 1930, in Sequoyah County, Okla. He died Sept. 13, 1987.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Seabolt and wife Barbara, Tulsa, Okla., Loye Seabolt and wife Deloris, Big Cabin, Okla.; three daughters, Wanda Smith Bean, Moscow, Sadie Breuer, Borger, Texas, and Dee Rayl and husband Larry, Hutchinson; one son-in-law, Billie Starr, Canadian, Texas; 22 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Lynn Seabolt, one daughter, Doris Starr, three grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday at Moscow Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Bradford and the Rev. Robert Bailey presiding.

Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Friends may visit from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Moscow Baptist Church in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.

ALIYAH M. POTTERS

Aliyah Madisn Potters, 2 months, died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center following a sudden illness.

She was born May 7, 2004, to Lisa R. Pipkin and Jessie Potters IV in Liberal.

Survivors include one sister, Lexi Rene Potters; grandparents, Randy and Jennifer Pipkin, Liberal, and Jessie III and Lillian Potters, Oklahoma City; and great-grandparents, Tommy and Nevella Thomason, Charleston, Ill.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m., Friday at Liberal Cemetery.

Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday and from 8 a.m. until service time Friday at the Miller Mortuary.

LOLA F. HICKOK

ULYSSES ­ Lola Faye Hickok, 82, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at her residence in Ulysses.

She was born May 28, 1922, to James Vester and Willie (Weldon) Hamilton in Falls County, Texas.

She married James Richard Hickok Aug. 7, 1949, in Brownsville, Texas. He died April 25, 1986.

She graduated from Chilton High School in Falls County, Texas and from Austin Business College in Austin, Texas.

She worked for the Texas Welfare Department in Austin and Commanche, Texas, and she and her husband were partners in running the family farm.

She worked at the First Baptist Church in Brownsville, Texas.

She was a longtime member of the First Southern Baptist Church.

She was also a longtime member of Order of the Eastern Star, Civic and Study Club and was a board member of the Grant County Library, Grant County Museum, Loaves and Fishes and the Grant County Senior Center, all of Ulysses.

Survivors include one son, Jim Hickok and wife Melanie, Ulysses; two daughters, Nancy Young and husband Ron, Ulysses, and Carol Nave and husband Bill, Houston; five grandchildren, Jamie Morgan and husband Chris, Todd Young, Tim Young, Becky Leikam and Sarah Nave; one great-granddaughter, Shiloh Morgan; one sister-in-law, Diane Hamilton, Houston; and two nephews, Darrell Hamilton, McGregor, Texas, and Brian Hamilton, Houston.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, James Darrell Hamilton.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with the Rev. Bill Harrold, the Rev. Barry Durkee, the Rev. John Zobel and the Rev. Dana Wood presiding.

Burial will follow in Ulysses Cemetery with services by Ulysses Order of the Eastern Star No. 471.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

Memorials are suggested to the Grant County Senior Center or to the Grant County Museum, both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.

JANA L. SLEMP

HUGOTON ­ Jana Lynette Slemp, 46, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

She was born May 7, 1958, to John Raymond and Wanda Arlene (Miles) Slemp in Hugoton.

She received her associate degree from Seward County Community College. She lacked on class in receiving her degree in criminal justices from Washburn College in Topeka.

She served on the Board of Directors for the Center of Independent Living in Garden City.

Survivors include her father and his wife, Gayla, Frontenac; two brothers, Larry Slemp and wife Connie, Hugoton, and David Slemp and wife Kathy, Derby; one sister, Shari Miles, Flagstaff, Ariz.; several nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces; and her care giver, Diana Askew, Hugoton.

She was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents, Shirley and Electa Miles, and John E. and Nina F. Slemp.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moscow Baptist Church with Minister Larry Bradford presiding.

Burial will be at Rolla Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton.

Memorials are suggested to the Center of Independent Living, Garden City, in care of Paul's Funeral Home, Box 236, Hugoton, KS, 67951.

EFFIE O. WELLS

ULYSSES ­ Effie O. Wells, 80, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.

She was born Dec. 2, 1923, to Robert T. and Laura P. (Moore) Lott in Creek County, Okla.

She married A.H. "Spud" Wells July 2, 1946, in Coffeyville. He died Oct. 10, 2001.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Patterson Avenue Church of God in Ulysses.

She loved to read, do crossword puzzles and enjoyed collecting numerous things.

Survivors include three sons, Ronald W. and Garold T. Wells, both of Ulysses, and Marlon R. Wells, Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Shirley Weis, Lamar, Colo., and Kasandra Bentley, Santa Barbara, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Keuser, Wichita and Lucille Lott.

She was also preceded in death by a step-daughter, Twyla Watson, two brothers, Jesse and Troy Lott, and two sisters, Mamie Smith and Esther Sherman.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at Patterson Avenue Church of God in Ulysses with Pastors Earl Heath, Jr. and Tim Warren presiding.

Burial will follow in the Ulysses Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.

LORENA L. SMITH

MONTEZUMA ­ Lorena Leona (Jantzen) Smith, 86, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma, where she had been a resident.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Montezuma Funeral Home in Montezuma.

MARIA L. AGUILAR

Maria L. Aguilar, 75, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at her home in Liberal following a long illness.

She was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Chi., Mexico.

She was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Survivors include one son, Jesus Ramirez and wife Martha, Liberal; three grandchildren, Claudia, Jose Manuel and Aracelia Ramirez; one brother, Joaquin Aguilar, Liberal; and four sisters, Maria Aguilar, Mexico, Doloris Aguilar, Mexico, Juana Aguilar, New Mexico and Socorra Aguilar, Liberal.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Patrick Keyes presiding.

Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today at Miller Chapel.

Burial will be at Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Miller Mortuary.

JAKKI C. L. KREKLAU

ELKHART ­ Jakki C. L. Kreklau, 30, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Elkhart.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.

HELEN L. RUSSELL

GARDEN CITY ­ Helen Lucille Russell, 84, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Satanta Long Term Care Unit in Satanta.

She was born July 10, 1920, to George William and Mary Mae (Armstrong) Everhart in Ransom.

She married Elias Ezra Russell. He died on May 18, 1988.

She worked in health food stores.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Russell and wife Melanie, Sublette, and Lawrence Russell, Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Cindy and Pride Brown, Enumclaw, Wash., Holly Cunefare, Sublette, Sandy and Jesse Martinez, Sublette, and Nathan Russell, Oklahoma City; two step-grandchildren, Jewel and Kurt Litton and Jason and Kylee Wetz; nine great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Rolly Everhart and wife Marie; and one sister, Elsie Babcock, Utica.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday at Utica Cemetery in Utica, with Minister Richard Van Winkle presiding.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. today at Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette, and from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m., Thursday and 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., Friday at Fitzgerald Funeral Home in Ness City.
