LORENA L. SMITH

MONTEZUMA ­ Lorena Leona (Jantzen) Smith, 86, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma.

She was born Sept. 28, 1917, to Enoch and Susanna (Voth) Jantzen in Haskell County.

She married Harley V. Smith on July 5, 1946, at Sublette. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Cimarron.

Survivors include one son, Arthur Dean Smith and wife Beverly, Winton, Calif.; one daughter, Connie Zeiset and husband Paul, Texline, Texas; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Clarence Jantzen and wife Ruth, Moundridge, Alvin Jantzen and wife Pauline, Glenn, Calif., Johnny Jantzen and wife Pauline, Montezuma, and Franklin Jantzen and wife Nadine, Blairsville, Ga.; three sisters, Gracie Koehn, Hilmar, Calif., Goldie Koehn and husband Albert, Glenn, Calif., and Susie Koehn and husband Elton, Galva; and many other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Roy Smith, one great-grandson, Bobby Smith, two brothers, Samuel and Curtis Jantzen, and three sisters, Helen Smith, Edna Giesbrecht and Julia Koehn.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday at Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Cimarron, with Ministers Wilbur Koehn, Keith Ensz and Dallas Koehn presiding.

Burial will be at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron.

Friends may call until 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Thursday at the Montezuma Funeral Home, Montezuma, and from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Bethel Home Inc., Montezuma, in care of Montezume Funeral Home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS, 67867.

KIMBERLY A. SALLEY

DENVER ­ Kimberly Ann Salley, 26, died Monday, July 19, 2004, at Denver Health Care Center due to medical complications.

She was born in Liberal.

She moved to Garden City in 1979 and graduated from Garden City High School.

She had lived in Denver, Colo., for the past six years.

She enjoyed helping others and continued with that after her death by being an organ donor.

She is survived by her father, Craig "Wimpy" Salley, Garden City; her mother, Deborah, Crosby, N.D.; a brother, Todd Salley, Pueblo West, Colo.; her grandfather, Jerry Salley, Springfield, Mo.; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

A celebration of her life will be from 3 until 5:30 p.m., Saturday at Garden City Co-op, 106 N. Sixth St. Friends and family are encouraged to dress casually.

Memorials may be brought to the gathering or sent in care of her father, Craig Salley, 706 Inge St., Garden City, KS, 67846.

PHYLLIS N. GRIFFIN

SUBLETTE ­ Phyllis Naomi (Batman) Griffin, 82, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita.

Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Haskell County Funeral Home in Sublette.

JAKKI C. L. KREKLAU

ELKHART ­ Jakki Christopher Levi Kreklau, 30, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.

He was born Dec. 26, 1971, to Jerry S. and Clesta Kay (Tucker) Kreklau in Guymon.

He married Cassie Kirkpatrick on Jan. 11, 2002, at Elkhart. She survives.

He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1992.

He was a member of the Morton County Fire Department.

He enjoyed baseball and being a full time dad.

Survivors include two sons, Jayden Christopher Loyd and Jakki Caleb Lee, as well as his wife being six months pregnant with a little girl; one brother, Jerry Craig Leroy Kreklau, Elkhart; one sister, Tressa Mae Leoikia Kreklau, Elkhart; his father and wife, Carolyn Crist; his mother; in-laws, Tom and Tina Weatherman, Elkhart; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leroy and Leocodia Kreklau and Chester and Virginia Tucker.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday at Church of the Nazarene in Elkhart with Pastor Jimmye Cole presiding.

Burial will follow at Elkhart Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.

Memorials are suggested to the 21st Century After School Program in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 514 Kansas Ave., Elkhart, KS, 67950.

CHANDLER C. SANDOVAL

HUGOTON ­ Chandler Clay Sandoval, 18, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, in an auto accident near Hugoton.

He was born Dec. 31, 1985, to Christopher Manuel and Kimberly Kaye (Crites) Sandoval in Liberal.

He graduated from Hugoton High School in May 2004.

He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church.

He was president of the Wranglers 4-H Club, president of the FFA Chapter and PALS Organization, all of Hugoton.

Survivors include his parents; one brother, Kassidy Lane Sandoval, Hugoton; one sister, Kenzey Kaye Sandoval, Hugoton; grandparents, Cipriano and Refugia Marie Sandoval, Guymon, Okla. and Sue Forrest, Woodward, Okla.; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wilbur Raymond Crites.

Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m., Thursday at Hugoton High School Auditorium with Father Michael McAndrew presiding.

Vigil services will be at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at St. Helen Catholic Church with Father Francis Khoi Nguyen presiding.

Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Hugoton FFA Chapter and may be mailed to Paul's Funeral Home, Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.

ANNIE L. REIMER

MEADE ­ Annie L. Reimer, 78, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 8, 1926, to John B. and Elizabeth K. (Loewen) Thiessen in Morris, Manitoba, Canada.

She married Bernhard D. Reimer on May 17, 1956, in Rosenort, Manitoba, Canada. He survives.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, the Ladies Sewing Society, assisted with the AWANA program, volunteered at the Meade Grade School and volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop.

She enjoyed quilting and baking.

Other survivors include two sons, Bruce Reimer, Fowler, and Doyle Reimer, Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter, Ethel Reimer, Meade; three grandsons; three brothers, Pete Thiessen, Rosenort, Canada, John Thiessen, Rosenort, Canada, and Abe Thiessen, Rosenort, Canada; one sister, Helen Thiessen, Rosenort, Canada; and many family and friends.

She was preceded in death by one brother, David Loewen, and six sisters, Elizabeth Friesen, Margaret Kroeker, Mary Hiebert, Mary Loewen, Katie Bartel and Susie Thiessen.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Emmanuel Mennonite Church in Meade.

Burial will be at Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery in rural Meade.

Friends may call from 1 until 7 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.

Memorials are suggested to the Ladies Sewing Society in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary.

LOUIS L. UNRUH

COPELAND ­ Louis L. Unruh, 78, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, at his residence in Copeland.

He was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Haskell County to Sam I. and Agnes (Smith) Unruh.

He married Elizabeth Giesbrecht Dec. 1, 1946, in Copeland. She died Nov. 15, 1985.

He later married Ruby Schmidt Dec. 7, 1986, in Ulysses. She survives.

He was a farmer and enjoyed tilling the soil. His hobbies were woodworking and traveling. He enjoyed visiting and never met a stranger.

He was a member of the Church of God In Christ Mennonite in Copeland. He loved his church.

He was a former board member for Bethel Home Inc. in Montezuma and was active in community projects.

Survivors include four sons, Clayton L. Unruh and wife Phyllis, Ronald D. Unruh and wife Cheryl, Larry G. Unruh and wife Rachel and Carl M. Unruh and wife, Shari, all of Copeland; two daughters, Marcia June Nichols and husband George, Farwell, Texas and Nancy Jo Penner and husband Elroy, St. Anne, Manitoba, Canada; 33 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Cecil Unruh, Montezuma, Eugene Unruh and wife Janice, Copeland, and Sam Unruh and wife Janice, Copeland; seven sisters, Luella Koehn and husband, Obed, Copeland, Juanita Nightengale and husband Ervin, Scott City, Vada Unruh, Copeland, Shirley Unruh, Copeland, Maxine Schmidt and husband, Copeland, Sylvia Wedel and husband Delton, Paris, Texas, Jeanette Nightengale and husband Devern, Copeland; and many relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Stuart Unruh, two grandsons, Jesse Unruh and Dwan Unruh, brother-in-law, Melvin Unruh and sister-in-law, Ruby Unruh.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Salem Mennonite Church in Copeland with Ministers Steve Unruh and Charles Nightengale presiding.

Burial will be in the Salem Mennonite Cemetery in Copeland.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Albuquerque Mission or Gospel Tract and Bible Society and may be sent to Haskell County Funeral Home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.
