HELEN I. STANTON

Johnson ­ Helen Ines Stanton, 97, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, in Fort Collins, Colo.

She was born May 25, 1907, to Carl and Minnie (Hempel) Singley near Plains.

She married Lester Stanton Aug. 12, 1925, in Wichita. He preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Manter Methodist Church, Johnson First United Methodist Church and the Presbyterian Church of Timnath, Colo.

She was a member of the Ladies Aid in Manter.

Survivors include three sons, Elliott Myron Stanton and wife Cherie, Lyndell Gene Stanton and wife Donna, both of Johnson, and Leon Singley Stanton and wife Dixie, Salida, Colo.; one daughter, Edith Lorraine Stanton Kruse and husband Gordon, Fort Collins, Colo.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Arvilla Selby and Geneva Cravens, and three grandsons, Tommy Stanton, Bryce Stanton and Rodney Stanton.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson with the Rev. Glenn Fogo presiding.

Burial will follow at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon, Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church in Johnson or the Presbyterian Church in Timnath, Colo., both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 715, Johnson, KS 67855.

CLARADEAN PERRY

ELKHART ­ Claradean Perry, 75, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.

She was born Nov. 13, 1928, to Charlie and Almira (Briley) Schnurr in Ulysses.

She married Carl F. Myers.

She then married Glenn Perry.

She later married Alvin Trembey in 1989. He survives.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Elkhart.

She was a former member of Rebekkah Lodge and volunteered time at the Morton County Care Center and Senior Citizens Center, both in Elkhart.

She enjoyed doing ceramics and was always seen helping other people.

Other survivors include one son, Tom Myers, Elkhart; one granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Myers; two brothers, Milford Rankin and Clifford Rankin, both of Elkhart; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Charles LeRoy Schnurr and Edwin Dean Rankin and one sister, Wilma Nadine Rankin.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at Elkhart Cemetery with the Rev. James L. Brackett presiding.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until noon, Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.

Memorials are suggested to the Senior Citizens Center in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.

MARGARET E. PEARCE

HUGOTON ­ Margaret Elizabeth Pearce, 91, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

She was born Oct. 30, 1912, to W.H. and Delana Ann (Tettrow) Hamilton in Stevens County.

She married Joseph Wayne Oder in 1930. He preceded her in death in 1953.

She then married Keith Pearce. He preceded her in death.

She was a press operator at a cleaning business for many years.

She was a member of the VFW in Hugoton.

Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, quilting, needle work and collecting stamps.

Survivors include one son, Bobby L. Oder, Hugoton; two daughters, Esther Ann Schroeder, Hugoton, and Mary Margaret Harms, Amarillo, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Billy Wayne and an infant son, an infant daughter, one granddaughter, two grandsons, eight brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at First Christian Church in Hugoton with the Rev. Robert Bailey presiding.

Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Friday at Paul's Funeral Home in Hugoton. The casket will be open at the funeral home and closed at the church.

HERMAN NIGHTINGALE

MONTEZUMA ­ Herman Nightingale, 82, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Bethel Home, Inc. in Montezuma.

He was born Dec. 31, 1921, to Fred and Lydia (Eck) Nightingale in Fairview, Okla.

He married Irene Koehn April 16, 1944, in Livingston, Calif. She survives.

He was a carpenter.

He was a member of the Grant Mennonite Church in Ulysses.

Other survivors include two sons, Winston Nightingale and wife Norma, Montezuma, and Martin Nightingale and wife Rita, Scio, Ore.; one daughter, Jewel Nightingale, Brooksville, Miss.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wade Nightingale and wife Lena, Fairview, Okla., and Ernest Nightingale and wife Autherine, Fairview, Okla.; two sisters, Geneva Klassen, Hesston, and Agnes Jantz and husband Richard, Fairview, Okla.; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Carl Nightingale, one son, Evan Nightingale and one sister, Olive Nightingale.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Sunday at the Grant Mennonite Church in Ulysses with Ministers Denton Koehn and Stuart Jantzen presiding.

Burial will be in Grant Mennonite Cemetery in Ulysses.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Saturday at Montezuma Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Gospel Tract and Bible Society and may be mailed to Montezuma Funeral Home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.

MARY A. BARBER

Mary Ann Barber, 69, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at her residence in Liberal.

She was born July 2, 1935, to Marvin Sheldon and Wilma I. (Stroup) Barber in Hutchinson.

Survivors include one brother, Robert Barber, Derby; one sister, Norma Jean Banker, Hutchinson; two cousins, Jack and Julie Cole, Hutchinson; and special friend Frieda Mikkelson, Derby.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m., Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Odle presiding.

Burial will be a private family service at Eastside Cemetery in Hutchinson.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

Memorials may be sent to Mosaic in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.

THELMA M. WELCH

Thelma M. Welch, 74, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at Wheatridge Park Care Center following a short illness.

She was born June 30, 1930, to Harry A. and Pearl V. Comstock Walker in Liberal.

She married Ed "Dude" Welch June 13, 1963, in Clovis, N.M. He survives.

She attended school in Liberal.

She worked at Light Mill and Grain.

She was a sales clerk at North Ideal for 34 years.

She provided day care for children in her home for many years, retiring in 1995.

She attended the First Church of God in Liberal.

Her hobbies included collecting arts and crafts.

Other survivors include one son, Eddie Welch, Liberal; three grandchildren, David Watt, Earl Watt and wife Heather and Ashley Welch; six great-grandchildren, Rustin, Damon, Victoria, Heather, Reagan and Ren Watt; and one sister, Evelyn Beaty, Liberal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one daughter, Sue Watt and one son, Al Welch.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday at the First Church of God with the Rev. Larry McCall and the Rev. David Parker presiding.

Burial will be in Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 8 until 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Mosaic Services or may be left at the mortuary.
