THOMAS E. MYERS

OLMITZ -- Thomas Eugene Myers, 46, died Nov. 19, 2004, in an auto accident.

He was born Nov. 16, 1958, to Thomas Richard Myers and Carolyn McMullen Myers in Great Bend.

He was a furniture maker for LaCrosse Furniture, and he was also in retail sales for West Limited in Great Bend and Anthony's in Hutchinson.

He was a member of Golden Belt Pool League 8-Ball Bulldogs.

Survivors include his mother; two daughters, Nique Brown, Liberal, and Whitney Myers, Garden City; three grandchildren; three brothers, Gene Pickinpaugh, Toby, Ill., Dick Myers, Ellinwood, and Doug Myers, Dodge City; one half-brother, John Bolander, Osage, Okla.; two sisters, Carolyn Clarke, Ellinwood, and Bebbie Borger, Jetmore; and longtime companion, Sue Lebbin, Olmitz.

He was preceded in death by his father and one half-brother, Mike Bolander.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Ellinwood with the Rev. Roy Savage presiding.

Burial will be in Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon at Kimple Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Beckwith-Wediman Research in care of the funeral home.

JULIE E. FERGUSON

Julie E. Ferguson, 58, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 2, 1946, to Emil K. and Mildred Harker Vollmar in Kansas City, Kan.

She married Stanley H. Ferguson Aug. 21, 1970, in Oklahoma City. He survives.

She attended Bishop Miege High School and graduated in 1980 from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in journalism.

She worked as a researcher for the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

She worked for three years as the public relations director for Still Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo., and was later an office manager for the Missouri Democratic State Committee.

She spent three years as community Relations director for the town of Surprise, Ariz.. She later worked in the library at the International School of Business Management.

She ran for state representative, was a graduate of Leadership Liberal and worked in the public relations department of Southwest Medical Center.

She was a member of the First Christian Church of Pittsburg, Kan.

Other survivors include one son, James D. Ferguson, Tulsa, Okla.; two granddaughters; two sisters, Elizabeth Fairleigh, Stillwell, and Karla Hughes, Greenville, N.C.; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Memorial services were at 2 p.m. today at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. Geoff Moran presiding.

Cremation has taken place. --

Burial of the cremains will be at a later date at the National Cemetery.

VELMA JONES

Velma Jones, 85, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Southwest Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 11, 1919, to William and Sarah Eliza (Anderson) Chessmore in Sutherland, Neb.

She married Freddie M. Jones Sept. 9, 1939, in Liberal. He died May 18, 2003.

She graduated from Sutherland High School in 1937.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of First Assembly of God Church where she was a pianist for many years.

She served for 45 years on the Seward County Election Board. She also volunteered at Liberal Good Samaritan.

Survivors include two sons, Leroy Jones and wife Linda, Post, Texas, and Gary Jones and wife Debbie, Liberal; two daughters, Loretta Cunningham and husband Verle, Topeka, and Neoma Blake and husband Loyd, Big Lake, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Chessmore, Sutton, Neb.; one sister, Clara Slater, Sutherland, Neb.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Freda R. Jones, and one sister, Mary Katherine Sells.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Richard Martin presiding.

Burial will be in Liberal Cemetery.

Calling time will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to First Assembly of God Church in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.

BERNADENE L. COCKERHAM

Bernadene Latrelee "Mammoo" Cockerham, 67, died Nov. 28, 2004, at her residence in Liberal.

She was born Aug. 10, 1937, to Ed and Inez Cherr (Ailstock) Blake in Coleman, Texas.

She married Henry Cockerham Dec. 10, 1957, in Hobbs, N.M. He died June 3, 2000.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Garfield Elementary P.T.A.

Survivors include one son, Felton Cockerham and wife Cindy, Albemarle, N.C.; one daughter, Norma Beer and husband Billy; grandchildren, Michael Mouser and wife Amy, Tina Nelson, Chris Mouser, Robert Myers and wife Kirsti, A.J. Nelson and wife Kari, Greg Nelson and wife Dana, Mandy Tanking and husband Todd, Jamie Cockerham, Bobby Beer and Krissy Kirk; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Katlynn and Taylor Mouser, Kaleb Tanking, Thressa Myers, Zachary and Morgan Nelson, Mariah Herrerah, Page, Kyle and Casey Nelson and Emilee Thompson; two sisters, Reba Kirk and husband Paul, Liberal, and Patsy Melrose and husband Leroy, Oklahoma City; and one sister-in-law, Patta Blake, Lake Brownwood, Texas.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Darla Nelson and Thressa Brown and one great-grandson, Alex Chavez.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stan Lehnert presiding.

Burial will be in Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.

NICHOLE M. QUINBY

SUBLETTE -- Nichole Marie Quinby, 28, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, in an auto accident west of Pratt.

She was born March 21, 1976, to Max and Diane (Selke) Ball in San Antonio.

She married Michael Quinby July 21, 2001, in Lipscomb, Texas. He survives.

She worked at Mama Moo's in Sublette.

She attended the Southern Baptist Church in Sublette.

Other survivors include her parents; her great-grandma, Geraldine Ball; one daughter, Rylan Poland, Sublette; two step daughters, Caroline Quinby and Cameron Quinby, both of Gage, Okla.; one brother, Artie Randalls, Sublette; two step brothers, Dennis Ball, Kansas, and Patrick Ball, Kansas; one sister, Regina Caldwell, Nebraska; and many uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces as well as many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Raymond and Winona Selke and Linzy Ball.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Southern Baptist Church in Sublette with Minister Dan Pearce presiding.

Burial will be in Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette.

Friends may sign the register from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Rylan's Medical and Education Fund and may be mailed to Haskell County Funeral Home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.

JOHN R. ENSZ

INMAN -- John R. Ensz, 85, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at Bethel Home, Inc., in Montezuma.

He was born Nov. 26, 1919, to Henry A. and Anna (Reimer) Ensz in Inman.

He married Eva Nikkel June 2, 1946, in Inman. She died Feb. 5, 2002.

He was a farmer.

He was a member of the Zion Mennonite Church in Inman.

Survivors include two sons, Ron Ensz and wife Ethel, Ulysses, and Karl Ensz and wife Dorothy, Fort Sumner, N.M.; two daughters, Gloria Koehn and husband Bill, Ulysses, and Florence Koehn and husband Robert, Muleshoe, Texas; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Reuben Ensz and wife Margaret, Inman, Arvid Ensz and wife Florence, Madrid, Neb., and Earvey Ensz and wife Darlene, Comstock, Wis.; four sisters, Margaret Penner and husband Ben, Inman, Betty Giesbrecht and husband Alvin, Louisville, Ga., Justine Friesen, Comstock Wis., and Wilma Giesel and husband Bill, Hesston; one sister-in-law, Vada Ensz, Inman; and many relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, Dalyn Koehn and Dana Koehn, one brother, Mennon Ensz, one brother-in-law, Ed Friesen, and one sister-in-law, Edna Ensz.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Mennonite Church in Inman with Ministers Charles Johnson, Gregg Johnson and Shawn Giesel presiding.

Burial will be in the Zion Church Cemetery in Inman.

Friends may call until 6 p.m. today at Zion Mennonite Church in Inman.

Memorials are suggested to either the General Mission Board or Bethel Home, Inc., of Montezuma and may be mailed to Grant County Funeral Home, 218 S. Main Street, Ulysses, KS 67880.
