JOSEPHINE MILLER
Josephine M. "Jodie" Miller, 81, died Jan. 26, 2005, at Southwest Medical Center.
She was born July 8, 1923, to Dr. A.M. and Myrtle (Green) Morrow in Liberal.
She married Robert F. "Bob" Miller April 9, 1944, in Liberal.
He died Feb. 14, 2002.
She graduated from Liberal High School in 1941 and then attended Kansas University.
Along with her husband, she owned and operated Independent Hardware and Gifts in Liberal for more than 40 years.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Golden Band Sunday School class.
She was a member of the Aurora Club, the 40s Dinner Bridge Club, past president of PTA and a life member of Order of Easter Star Liberal Chapter No. 104.
She enjoyed horseback riding, swimming and knitting.
Survivors include one son, Paul M. Miller, Liberal; one daughter, Elaine Stanley and husband Terry, Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren, Janet Wernli, Corpus Christi, Texas, Allen Fritzler, Portland, Maine, Brian Miller, Liberal, Jody Miller, Liberal; four great-grandchildren; and one half-sister, Carolyn Commuso, Vandalia, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four half-brothers and two half-sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Liberal with the Rev. Ken Hathaway presiding.
Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church-Radio Fund in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.
KERMIT BECKER
MONTEZUMA -- Kermit Becker, 92, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at Bethel Home in Montezuma.
He was born March 11, 1912, to Peter J. and Katie (Koehn) Becker in McPherson County.
He married Sophia Christina Unruh April 1, 1934, in McPherson. She died Sept. 20, 1994.
He was a farmer, carpenter and dairyman in McPherson.
He was a member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite of Galva.
Survivors include four sons, Larry Becker and wife Goldie, Canton, Marion Becker and wife Carolyn, Montezuma, Gordon Becker and wife Carolyn, Kirksey, Ky., and Dale Becker and wife Joyce, Gentry, Ark.; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Edwin Becker and wife Vernie, Moundridge; one sister, Myrtle Unruh, Moundridge; and many relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Lone Tree Mennonite Church in Galva with Ministers Charles Schmidt, Herman Nightengale and Roger Unruh presiding.
Burial will be in the Lone Tree Mennonite Cemetery
in Galva.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Montezuma Funeral Home.
VALLIE J. KILGORE
Vallie J. Kilgore, 103, died Sunday, January 30, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center in Liberal.
She was born June 10, 1901, to George Alexander and Mary Tennessee Crawford Allison in Baxter, Tenn.
She married L.V. Kilgore Jan. 4, 1920, in Putnam County, Tenn. He died Aug. 5, 1996.
She attended school in this area.
She worked for 10 years as a seamstress for Southwest Medical Center.
She and her husband farmed near Tyrone, Okla.
She was a member of the Rebekka's and Sewing Club.
Survivors include one son, Carlos Kilgore and wife Georgia, Liberal; one daughter, Evalean Forward and husband Charles, Hugoton; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 18 great great grandchildren; one brother, Aldon Allison Cookeville, Tenn.; and one brother-in-law, Boyd Tolson, Fort Worth, Texas.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Geneva Tolson, three brothers, Doyle, Dallas and Denver, and two sisters, Beulah and Velma.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lonestar Friends Church, 14 miles east of Hugoton and nine miles north and nine miles west of Liberal with Pastor Scott Rose presiding.
Burial will be in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens north of Liberal.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Center and may be left at the Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc., Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
RONALD E. BARKER
Ronald E. "Ron" Barker, 66, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005, at Western Plains Regional Medical Center in Dodge City.
He was born Nov. 3, 1938, to Mervin E. and Opal (Brannon) Barker in Gentry, Ark.
He married Ann Johnson Aug. 19, 1964, in Clayton, N.M. She survives.
He graduated from Sallisaw (Okla.) High School in 1956 and then attended Eastern Oklahoma A & M College in Wilburton, Okla., graduating in 1958, majoring in economics and sociology.
He also attended Northwestern State College in Alva, Okla.
He owned and operated Hometown Auto Parts in Liberal for 11 years.
He worked as a salesman for Myers Bros. Equipment Company in Kansas City, Mo.
He was a salesman and office manager for Don's Farm Tire Service for two years.
He retired from Southwest Medical Center in 2002, working as a courier.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sallisaw, Okla.
He was a founding member of the Two Tired Motorcycle Club, a member of the Liberal High School Booster Club, coached women's city league softball and was a former player for the Liberal Bee Jays.
He enjoyed photography of sports and wildlife, woodworking, trout fishing and spending time with his family at their mountain cabin.
Other survivors include one daughter, Vickie Rice and husband Mike, Liberal; and one granddaughter, Melissa Rice, Liberal.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date.

VELMA CHANCE
FOWLER -- Velma Chance died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Pratt Regional Medical Center.
Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary of Meade.
JOSE MORALES
Jose Morales, 62, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2005, at Southwest Medical Center.
He was born July 8, 1942, to Medardo and Lina (Longoria) Morales in Sain Alto, Zac., Mexico.
He married Juana Gaucin Morales. She died Aug. 28, 2004.
He was a farmer.
Survivors include four sons, Jose L. Morales, Liberal, Rumaldo Morales, Liberal, and Rafael and Edgar Morales, both of Sain Alto, Zac., Mexico; three daughters, Oliva Morales, Dora Veronica Morales and Maria del Rocio Morales, all of Sain Alto, Zac., Mexico; two brothers, Felipe Morales, Ciudad Juarez, Chih., Mexico, and Humberto Morales, Sain Alto, Zac., Mexico; four sisters, Luisa Morales, Ciudad Juarez, Chih., Mexico, and Maria Morales, Martha Morales and Berta Morales, all of Sain Alto, Zac., Mexico.
Burial will be in Pation Municipal de Sain in Sain Alto, Zacatecas, Mexico.
Visitation will be until 6 p.m. today at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.
