ALBERT RYAN JR.
ULYSSES -- Albert Ryan Jr., 86, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at Capital Care Center in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
He was born Nov. 8, 1918, to Albert Sr. "Paw-Paw" and Martha Jane Ryan "Danny" in Dewey, Okla.
He married Delphia Van Brunt Jan. 1, 1940, in Norman, Okla. She died Dec. 7, 1984, in Mesa, Ariz.
He then married Dorothy Zurch in 1985. She survives.
He played tackle for Oklahoma University in Norman, Okla., on a football scholarship and worked in the campus cafeteria while pursuing a degree in petroleum engineering.
He worked for Halliburton in Perry, Okla. In 1943, he went to work for Standard Oil Amoco.
He was a member of Shelton Memorial Christian Church of Ulysses.
He worked with the Grant County Home Products Dinner and other community projects.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran stationed in San Diego during World War II.
He enjoyed crossword puzzles and working as a mechanic.
Other survivors include one son, Michael Alan Ryan, Gillette, Wyo.; one daughter, Patricia Fort, Ulysses; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Noveta Ryan, one son, John Alexander Ryan, one daughter, Joyce Sullivan, and one great-grandson, Tyson Gabriel Fort.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses with the Rev. Bill Harrold presiding.
Burial will follow in Ulysses Cemetery.

DOROTHY HOSKINSON
SUBLETTE -- Dorothy Hoskinson, 92, died Jan. 29, 2005, in Sierra Vista, Ariz.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Haskell County Funeral Home of Sublette.
ADA BAKER
Ada Baker, 85, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Southwest Medical Center.
She was born April 11, 1919, to Charles and Zenith (Morris) Polf in Optima, Okla.
She married Ralph A. Baker Sept. 11, 1954, in Raton, N.M. He survives.
She was a 1939 graduate of Turpin (Okla.) High School.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Western Avenue Church of Christ in Liberal.
Other survivors include one daughter, Theda Kaelin and husband Bill, Anaheim, Calif.; two grandchildren, Aaron and Mark Kaelin; and one sister, Clemmie Monden, Amarillo, Texas.
She was preceded in death by one son, Leon Grinsdale, five brothers, Zelner, Lee, Eddie, Andrew and Herndon Polf, and two sisters, Lucille Weatherby and Joyce Szuwalski.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Western Avenue Church of Christ with Wade Tannehill presiding.
Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday with the family present to receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

FAY E. JAMES
HUGOTON -- Fay Elnora James, 94, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born Nov. 18, 1910, to Harry and Rena (Williams) Born in Ellsworth.
She married Harold Franklin James Sr. Jan. 6, 1941, in Haskell County. He died Jan. 28, 2003.
She was a homemaker and school teacher. She taught school at Hugoton and in Liberal at both Harrison Training Center and Washington Elementary School.
She was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church of Hugoton and Church of God of Hugoton.
She was a member of the Sandhill Unit of the Kansas Association for Retarded Citizens.
Survivors include one son, Harold James Jr. and wife Charlesetta, League City, Texas; two daughters, Dr. Brenda Joyce James, Columbus, Ohio, and Dr. Linda James Myers and husband Roger, Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Bernice Brown.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of God of Hugoton with Pastor Bill Vincent presiding.
Burial will be in the Hugoton Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
KENNETH L. BETSWORTH
HUGOTON -- Kenneth Leo Betsworth, 92, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.
He was born July 31, 1912, to Leo W. and Leota (Woods) Betsworth in Dewey County, Okla.
He married Goldie Cobb May 7, 1934, in Hooker, Okla. She died Oct. 21, 1961.
He then married Doris M. Redpath Nordyke in 1962 in Clayton, N.M. She survives.
He was a farmer, oil field laborer and plumber. He owned Kenny Plumbing in Hugoton for several years.
He was a member of the Hugoton Senior Center.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
Other survivors include three sons, Ronald K. Betsworth and wife Bernice, San Diego, Doug C. Betsworth and wife Teri, Richwood, Texas, and Lindsay W. Betsworth and wife Coleen, Flower Mound, Texas; four daughters, Evelyn L. McBride and husband Bobby, Hugoton, Carmaleta Moore, Big Bow, Gerry Bradford and husband Larry, Lufkin, Texas, and Sharon Barker and husband William, Fargo, N.D.; three step sons, Clinton Nordyke and wife Dixie, Indiana, Bill Nordyke, Indiana, and Jim Nordyke and wife Ginger, Tulsa, Okla.; one step daughter, Phyllis Duncan and husband John, Liberal; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; two sisters, June Averitt, Duncan, Okla., and Rita Hawks, Omaha, Neb.; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Breeding, Hugoton, Alice Betsworth, Mesa, Ariz., and Elsie Betsworth, Florida; and many relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church of Hugoton with Minister Jeff Aenk and Ronald K. Betsworth presiding.
Burial will be in the Hugoton Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

KELLY B. CAMPBELL
HUGOTON -- Kelly Brian Campbell, 35, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at his residence in Hugoton.
He was born Aug. 23, 1969, to Bobby Eugene and Colleen Kay (Bonsall) Campbell in Hugoton.
He was a laborer doing various jobs for people in Hugoton.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Hugoton.
Survivors include his parents; his fiancee, Joyce Williams, Hugoton; two sons, Curtis Campbell, Hugoton, and Braxton Campbell, Miami, Okla.; one daughter, Kayanna Campbell, Garden City; one step son, Joseph Williams, Hugoton; one step daughter, Tiffini McCurry, Hugoton; one brother, Rex Campbell, Liberal; two sisters, Kayla Morris, Gresham, Ore., and Dusty Campbell, Garden City; and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Lance Alan Campbell, his grandparents, J.C. and Wilma Campbell and Alton and Mary Bonsall.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church in Hugoton with the Rev. Robert Bailey and Minister Jeff Aenk presiding.
Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
