Parrie-Dell Cain

DIGHTON -- Graveside services for Parrie-Dell Cain, 76, of Dighton, will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons.

Mrs. Cain died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at Hays Medical Center-St. Anthony Campus, Hays. The Rev. Mike Grogan will officiate at the service. Calling hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton.

Mrs. Cain was born June 2, 1923, at Lamont, Okla., to Guy and Carrie (Tullis) Randle. She attended school in Lyons and graduated with the class of 1941 at Lyons High School. She lived in Lyons after her marriage to Lee Cain on April 4, 1942, moving to Burdett in 1971 and to Dighton in 1975. She was a homemaker, and her special interests were playing cards, sewing, family activities and having coffee and visiting with friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Cain is survived by her husband; by a son, Dennis Cain of Leoti; by a daughter, Dana Cain, of Perkins, Okla.; by a foster daughter, Scottie Garrison of Perkins, Okla.; a sister, Charlene Wadge of Hackett, Ark.; and a granddaughter, Jonell Hughes of Leoti.

Memorials may be made to the Lane County Ambulance Fund in care of the funeral home.

Wendelin L. Rohr

HASTINGS, Mich. -- Wendelin L. Rohr, 74, died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at his home in Hastings, Mich.

Military services were held Monday at Hastings.

He was born Dec. 15, 1924, at Ransom.

He is survived by his wife, Francis, of the home; six sisters, Florena Heili of Garden City, Esther Walker of Scott City, Elnora Khuler of Neosho, Mo., Barbara Howard of Gove, Amelia Schwindt of Utica, and Martina Stanton of WaKeeney; and two brothers, Frank Rohr of Quinter, and Walter Rohr of Neosho, Mo.

M. Maurine Blickenstaff

SCOTT CITY -- Funeral for M. Maurine Blickenstaff, 74, was to be 10:30 this morning at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City, with the Rev. Duane Kessler officiating. Burial was to follow in Scott County Cemetery, Scott City.

Mrs. Blickenstaff died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City.

She was born April 3, 1925, at Fowler, the daughter of Chester H. and Grace Edna (Walton) Duff.

A lifetime resident of Scott City, moving from Fowler in the mid-1930s, she was a homemaker and belonged to the United Methodist Church.

On Aug. 8, 1943, she married William J. Blickenstaff at Scott City. He died June 1, 1987, at Scott City. She was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

She is survived by a son, Steve Blickenstaff, Garden City; two granddaughters; and a brother, Gary Duff, Seattle.

Memorials are suggested to Park Lane Nursing Home, in care of the funeral home.

Irene Lance

ULYSSES -- Irene Lance, 89, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at Ulysses.

She was born May 21, 1910, at Bucklin, the daughter of Clarence Franklin and Emaline Elizabeth (Lingwood) Patterson.

A homemaker, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge, Gladys Gish Circle, Prairie Star EH Unit, Farm Bureau, and the Shockey & Pomona Grange.

On July 13, 1929, she married C. Alvin Lance at Pratt. He died in 1994. She was also preceded in death by a great-grandchild.

She is survived by a son, Harold A. Lance, Ulysses; a daughter, Marcella L. Patton, Ulysses; a brother, Kenneth Patterson, Ulysses; a nephew; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Ulysses, with Dr. Max Clayton officiating. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.

Visitation hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses. Memorials are suggested to the church or the American Cancer Society, both in care of the funeral home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880

Allie Pearl Lobaugh

Allie Pearl Lobaugh, 93, of Lone Wolf, Okla., and mother of Elaine Killer of Garden City, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Elkview General Hospital in Hobart, Okla. Service was held Thursday at the Church of Christ in Lone Wolf with Ed Lobaugh officiating. Burial was in McKnight Cemetery, Hollis, Okla., under the direction of Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home, Lone Wolf.

Mrs. Lobaugh was born July 27, 1906, in Hollis to Andrew and Mary Francis (Jackson) Card. She graduated from Hollis High School and attended Southwestern Oklahoma State College. She married William L. Lobaugh Aug. 21, 1927, in Hollis, and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1990. They farmed in the Hollis community for 41 years before moving to Lone Wolf. She moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Hobart in 1996. A member of the Church of Christ, she enjoyed reading her Bible, sewing and doing upholstery and crafts.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald Lobaugh; a daughter, Oneta Brady; five sisters, Lela Marshall, Imogene Hall, Essie Lobaugh, Thelma Armstrong and Hazel Card; and seven brothers, Lee Ivo, Leva, Arthur, Albert, Perry and Virgil Lobaugh.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a sister, Lauretta Vaughn of McKinney, Texas; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Orpha Benton Thomas Jr.

MONTEZUMA -- Orpha Benton Thomas Jr., 85, former Dumas, Texas, resident and a resident of Montezuma since 1993, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at his home. Graveside service is at 1 p.m. Saturday at Northlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dumas. A memorial service will beat 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Montezuma with the Rev. Val Krehbiel presiding.

Mr. Benton was born May 8, 1914, at Sayre, Okla., the son of Orpha Benton and Clara (Thacker) Thomas Sr. He and Jean F. Hibbert were married in December 1937 at Evanston, Ill. She preceded him in death.

He was an industrial engineer in Illinois for 31 years with American Zinc of Illinois and worked for the City of Borger, Texas, as a consulting engineer. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Professional Engineering Association of Texas and Corrosion Engineering Association.

He is survived by a son, Orpha Benton Thomas III of Arlington Heights, Ill.; by a daughter, Sherry Brown of Montezuma; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Memorials may be made to the Cal Farley Boys Ranch through Montezuma Funeral Home, Box 421, Montezuma, KS 67867.

Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Corrine Gee

ULYSSES -- Corrine Gee, 80, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Ulysses. Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Shelton Memorial Christian Church, Ulysses, with the Rev. Bill Harrold officiating. Burial will be in the Ulysses Cemetery.

Mrs. Gee was born Aug. 8, 1919, at Copeland, the daughter of Courtney and Grace Elsie (Malone) Simpson. She was a lifetime resident of Grant County and a graduate of Grant County Rural High School. On May 3, 1940, she married Virgil E. Gee at Liberal. He preceded her in death Oct. 29, 1970.

Mrs. Gee was a school cook and a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a former member of Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include two sons, Troy Gee and Tony Gee, both of Ulysses; three brothers, Wayne Simpson of Waldo, Eugene Simpson of Shepherd, Texas, and Ed Simpson of Mo.; a sister, Lois McManaman of Ulysses; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rugene Goodnight; a brother; and five sisters.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses. Memorials may be directed to Western Prairie Care Home or Grant County Museum in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.
