Manford DeWain Kimberly

Memorial service for Manford DeWain Kimberly, 67, of Bella Vista, Ark., was to be 1:30 p.m. today at Bella Vista Community Church, with the Rev. David McKay officiating.

Mr. Kimberly died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at his home.

He was born Feb. 26, 1932, at Greensburg, the son of Frank and Jenny Kimberly.

A resident of Bella Vista since moving there 13 years ago from Omaha, he worked for the Enron Corporation for more than 30 years and was a school bus driver for the Bentonville schools for more than 11 years.

Mr. Kimberly was a member of the Elks Lodge in Garden City and belonged to the Men's Golf Association in Bella Vista.

He is survived by his wife, Margo Kimberly, Bella Vista; two sons, Dirk Kimberly, Garden City, and Dean Kimberly, Shawnee; a daughter, Kara Stockton, Bella Vista; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Kimberly; and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715.

Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory was in charge of arrangements.

Leonard Monroe Weddle

Funeral for Leonard Monroe Weddle, 82, of Minneola, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Minneola, with the Rev. Kip Ryherd officiating. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday in Maple Grove, Greencrest Cemetery, at Dodge City.

Mr. Weddle died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at Minneola District Hospital.

He was born May 8, 1917, at Bloom, the son of Charlie and Libbie (Hylton) Weddle.

A farmer and stockman, he served as County Farm Bureau president, was a director and was elected to serve on the Kansas Farm Bureau State Board, and was appointed to serve on the Kansas State Wheat Commission. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Minneola.

On June 1, 1937, he married Waneta Fern Clevenger. She survives. Other survivors are a son, Terry Weddle, Minneola; a daughter, Jeanette Besthorn, Garden City; a brother, Walter Weddle, Minneola; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours are until 7 tonight at Minnis Mortuary, Minneola. Memorials are suggested to the Minneola Health Care Foundation or the Minneola Methodist Church Remodeling Fund, both in care of the mortuary, P.O. Box 459, Minneola, KS 67865-0459.

Luther L. 'Bud' Laremore

Funeral for Luther L. "Bud" Laremore, 72, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Lyle Steuhrenberg officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Mr. Laremore died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2000, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

He was born Feb. 1, 1928, at Great Bend, the son of Lee and Marguerite (Riggen) Laremore. He graduated from high school in Belpre and also graduated from Hobart Trade School in Troy, Ohio.

Mr. Laremore farmed near Belpre with his father and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He later worked as a mechanic in Larned before moving to Garden City in 1967 where he was the sixth district maintenance inspector of the Kansas Department of Transportation.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Harry H. Renick American Legion Post No. 9 and the American Association of Retired Persons.

On Aug. 6, 1950, he married Marilyn Ann Miller at Great Bend. She survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Leticia Ann Porter, Garden City, and Marnie Lu Childs, Norman, Okla.; a sister, Meridel Pivonka, Gilbert, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation hours are until 9 tonight at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City. Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, in care of the funeral home, 620 N. Main St.

Elsie Jane Hathaway

Memorial service for Elsie Jane Hathaway, 63, of St. John, was 11 a.m. Wednesday at Minnis Chapel, St. John. Cremation has taken place.

Mrs. Hathaway, a homemaker, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at Stafford Hospital in Stafford.

Born Dec. 19, 1936, at Shaffer, she had lived in St. John for 35 years.

She was the sister of Lillian Davis, Garden City. Other survivors include her husband, Jerry Hathaway, whom she married on Feb. 1, 1958; four sons; a daughter; three grandchildren; a brother; and two others sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezra and Doshia Smith; three sisters, Laura Mae Davis, Jean Hathaway and Irene Hacker; and a daughter.

Isabell O. Klein

Isabell O. Klein, 81, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2000, at Hodgeman County Long Term Care Center in Jetmore.

She was born Oct. 28, 1918, in Pawnee County, the daughter of Jesse and Metta (Schoor) Schasteen.

A longtime resident of the Hanston and Hodgeman County area, she worked for the Hanston school district from 1961 until her retirement. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, VFW Auxiliary, Senior Citizen Center and the Cowbells, all at Hanston.

On July 16, 1936, she married De Lloyd Clarence Klein at Lyons. He died June 12, 1981. She was also preceded in death by a son, Richard; a daughter, Ruby; two brothers, Edwin and Alfrod; and a sister, Mary.

She is survived by five sons, Bob, Hanston, Eldon, Aurora, Colo., Jody, of Wright, Steve, Enid, Okla., and Jack, Dodge City; six daughters, Carolyn Hertel, Garden City, Phyllis Allison, Colorado Springs, Colo., Barbara Krentzel, McPherson, Kay Park, Manhattan, Donna Johnson and Pat Klein, both of Wichita; a brother, Cecil Schasteen, Wichita; a sister, Bessie Mai, Denver; 30 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Hanston, with the Rev. Gary Winget officiating. Burial will be in Browns Grove Cemetery, Burdett.

Visitation hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Memorials are suggested to Hodgeman County Long Term Care Center or the Hanston Senior Center, both in care of the funeral home.

Jay Frank Lightcap

Funeral for Jay Frank Lightcap, 31, a former Garden City resident, was 2 p.m. Feb. 16 at Roselawn Chapel, Pueblo, Colo.

Mr. Lightcap, of Pueblo, died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000.

Born Nov. 19, 1968, he had lived in Garden City from 1987 to 1992. He had been a longtime employee of Car Doctor, enjoyed his family and NASCAR racing, with Dale Earnhardt as his racing hero.

He is survived by his wife, Kim; three children, Karolin, Juliana and Michael; his father, Clifford Lightcap, Garden City; his mother, Bobbie Lightcap, Pueblo; a sister, Susan Fillmore, Boone, Colo.; three nephews; three nieces; and a brother, Clifford Mark Lightcap, Pueblo.

Patricia A. Rife

Patricia A. Rife, 56, a former Garden City resident, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at White Bear Lake, Minn., after a 17-month battle with leukemia.

A resident of White Bear Lake, she had been a longtime St. Paul (Minn.) East Side community organizer, a civilian employee of the St. Paul police and was a member of Arlington Hills Lutheran Church.

She is survived by two brothers, Daniel Curtis, Eden Prairie, Minn., and Douglas Curtis, Burbank, Calif.; a sister, JoAnn Goss, Garden City; and three sons, Gregory and Stephen, both of St. Paul, and Joseph, Ithaca, N.Y.

Funeral was Tuesday at Anderson Funeral Home, St. Paul.
